Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die... John 11:25, 26

Hello to you all!

It has been like springtime here in South Carolina today! It was actually warm enough for short sleeves and that's what I wore!

I've noticed something....when I eat something high in sodium, the next day the scale is up...I guess it's water weight from the salt. It's a good thing to read the labels on what we eat that's not prepared at home, though, so we'll not be discouraged when this happens and realize that when the salt (water retention) leaves, which is usually only a day or two, the scale will reflect the 'true' number we weigh. Even measurments are affected by eating something high in sodium...your waist may be 1/2 inch larger or more the next day...so remember this so you won't be discouraged.

I bought a roasted chicken today instead of just buying a chicken and roasting it at home and was told it was "plain" with "nothing on it"...but when I got it home and ate some, it tasted salty and like it had some sort of sauce it had been basted with...sure enough...I found the ingredients on the wrapper in very small writing...'CORN SYRUP' and other ingredients, including a number that reflected HIGH SODIUM...so much for nothing being added to the "plain" roasted chicken....hum...I'll know better next time...just go ahead and buy a raw chicken and roast it at home...that way I'll know it's really "plain" and low sodium!

I've been doing a lot of 'running' (traveling kind) lately and haven't been exercising...this is a no-no, I know.

Springtime is just around the corner...time to get to work!

Have a good evening and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

YOur so right about the salt, I have noticed the same thing. I did so well yesterday but the scale was reading 2 lbs over the usual and I think it's because I ate F/F chips. There is still a lot of salt in it so it was probablly not a great choice so I have learned my lesson and will have something different next time. Your doing awesome, keep up the good work!

Hello to you all!

I was thinking about something. Something to help motivate us all to get to our goals.

When that craving comes (and it will) and you've already consumed the amount of calories you've alloted yourself for the day, ask yourself: Do I choose to be a size 8 (or other size you like) and NOT eat this that I crave right now as it will put me over my alloted daily calories to get to (or maintain) the size I want to be (or am)....OR.... do I choose to be a size 12 (or other larger size) and overeat and enjoy the sensation of this food for a few minutes only to be heavier (and larger) tomorrow?

Because when we overeat, we WEAR what we overeat. I've noticed there are people who look like they are wearing what they overate last year!

I used to be a heavy person....I'd get a BOX of sugar smacks and eat them...I mean a very large box...and ice cream by the box, too... but I've learned that even these foods are okay in MODERATION...which means counting them in among our alloted daily calories...a 150 calorie ice cream is okay if it is not in ADDITION but is INCLUDED in our daily calorie counts.

I've learned that exercise speeds up metabolism, but too much will surely cause the scale NOT to move downward! Exercise is good, but in moderation, just like foods!

I sit here in a SNUG size 8 100% cotton levi jeans (not stretch kind) and I'm still working on fitting into them comfortably because I am modest and will not wear them snug-fitting. I am a LADY and I want to look it, too...so I will continue to work on fitting into these 8's not snugly, but comfortably and loose enough to look lady-like when I wear them...which requires saying NO!!! to the ice cream I CRAVE tonight!!! It means EXERCISE tomorrow (but don't overdo it)! Now, I could have had the ice cream I crave tonight, as it's only 150 calories, but I will have overeaten cause I've already consumed my alloted calories for today...then the scale would probably be up in the morning and these size 8 jeans would be fitting tighter instead of looser! Well, you may say, have the ice cream and do without 150 calories tomorrow...nope...that will just make it harder to get to 'goal' of fitting into these 8's comfortably....so...I hope I've said something that has helped someone.

I drew a picture and have it on my desk. There is a pair of size 8 levi jeans (not stretch kind) on one side of the picture and then the word 'OR' and then there is a picture of a bigger pair of levi jeans, size 12 on the other side and I also drew ice cream, potato chips, candy, etc on the other side with the larger jeans and with the 8's I wrote 1700 daily calories of lean meats, veggies, salads, fruits, and occassional sweets, etc. included in the calories allotted. The 1700 is a maintain number...I know that most of us have to go lower than that to get 'to' goal.

Have a good night and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Hello to you! Hope you're having a happy, blessed day today! It's still cold here in S.C...(40's) and cloudy now with rain expected by tonight, though it was sunny a little earlier.

Well, after a six day plateau, scale read a new number today, so today's stats are:

BMI: 22.8

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 150.0

Have a great day and remember..Jesus loves ya and so do I!

squiggly on 02/02/2005:
Congratulations on losing the two pounds. You are doing very well.

Umpqua on 02/02/2005:
Congratulations on getting back to your goal weight! You have really set a great example - it would have been easy to just give up once you gained a few pounds but you saw the problem and tackled it and now you can be proud!

Soon2BThin on 02/02/2005:
Good for you! You're doing great! And it feels good too, doesn't it? Those plateaus are not fun, are they? I just can't seem to get out of the 160's. Have a good day tomorrow.

Runner on 02/03/2005:
Praise the Lord! You'll be in the 140's before you know it! :) Great job!

Good afternoon to you!

It is sunny and cold (40's) here in S.C. today.

I just got back a little while ago from the gym...walked and worked out with weights. I've been on a plateau for 5 days. Thought I'd go ahead and put weight in today.

BMI: 23.1

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 152.0

Here is an address to find your BMI: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Just key in your height and weight and click and this calculator will let you know your number. It also has a guide to understanding what your number means.

Going to read some entries now...have a great day!

Remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Hello to you all!

It is COLD here in S.C....(40's) but I guess it is even colder up north, so I'm glad it's not colder....

Walked at the gym again today, didn't work out with weights this time...been VERY careful with calories, also...scales have had 'friendly' readings over the past 3 weeks, (down 8) and down 9 for this month so far....working on it...today I didn't feel as hungry as I usually feel....Sister gave me a large piece of lemon iced-lemon cake she baked and I had what would equal about 150 calories of it, (about 1/4th of a regular-sized piece) and I was very satisfied with that, having gotten a good 'taste' of it and out the rest of it went to avoid any possibility of temptation later. She also got me a Snicker candy bar today (one of my favs) saying she'd noticed I've lost weight and she wants to refatten me some (NOT!!!). She walked with me today also, she has lost about 35 pounds and is being careful of how much she eats, herself...but I was considerate to her...we were out and about yesterday and I bought her (and me) each a chicken breast for our supper and that was all...even though the 'taters' were loudly calling for me to get them, too...(but I didn't!). I've been working on getting back to my original goal (150) and after I do, I may be working on getting back into my size 8 levi jeans, which I can do now, but not 'comfortably' and to me it doesn't count if it is real snug-fitting! (Uncomfortably, that is!)

Well, this is all for now...stay warm, all of you, and remember, Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile!)

Hello to you all!

Soonie, don't forget to include Stellastar on your list of 'oldie-goldies' that we miss....btw, it is good to see Garlic back on here...she is truly an inspiration....

It has been COLD here today, not as cold as yesterday, however...anyway...tv says 65 degrees on Wed...springtime early, hehehe!

I saw yellow daffodils and pink tulips in the grocery store the other day...they were so pretty!

Have a good evening and remember...Jesus loves you (and gave His life for your salvation)...and I love ya, too!

Hello to you! I hope you're having a good day in the Lord today 'cause if you've got the Lord in your life, then EVERY day is a good day!

It is sunny and COLD (20's and 30's) here today...I had thought we might get ice, but instead we got sunshine! I threw out some bread for the birds...we have bluejays and cardinals here.

I am still hurting from that fall, but not quite as bad...Hubby and I went to church this morning and I taught our Sunday School class and we had much class participation and thoughts presented and it was a wonderful class...we all enjoy it so much...then I played the piano and sung in the worship part of service and we left afterwards.

As for weight...I'm still holding on to Thursday's number, remembering 'Not Gaining Is Progress'...so I'm currently maintaining where I'm at and I'm okay with it for now.

Well, going to read entries...take care and remember...Jesus loves ya and gave His Life and shed His Blood for you so that you could have the gift of eternal life through Him when you repent of your sins, ask His forgiveness, and believe in Him...and if we believe in Him, we will LIVE for Him! According to God's Holy Word, the Bible!........and I love ya, too!

Good evening to you! Thanks for your comments, Soon2BThin and SaneJane. Well, night before last, Baby came back home...I was soooo glad. Then yesterday, another thing happened. I had a fall (no I'm not old!!!!). I was going UP some steps, slipped and fell...long story short, after 5 hours doctor and hospital...I think I'll be all right...I believe the Lord had His angels watching out for me. Yes, I AM in pain and hope it's less in the morning so I can be in church to teach our Sunday School class AND play the piano....we'll see...I'm just trusting the Lord as always and may His Will be done.

Well, it's supposed to get VERY cold tonight and tomorrow...I think we might possibly get some ICE here..., calling for rain, though...but low supposed to be 28 fahrenheit in the morning with wind chill (supposed to be very windy) much lower...so I guess it's how the rain is timed with the temperature, so wait and see...the tv says north of here SNOW...LOTS of SNOW....stay warm, everyone!

Well, I'm going to read some entries....remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (Smile!)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Hello to all of you! Good news! Baby came back last night! Thank you, Jesus, and also, thanks to each of you that prayed, for your prayers! I had the back porch light on, hoping that if she was lost, she'd see it and come back. I'd called her off and on and finally, I decided I'd call her one more time last night and it was about 8:30 pm eastern standard time...I called out, "Babyyyyyyyyy!!!!!" a time or two and I heard something running through the woods at a very fast rate of speed...I'd never heard her run that fast before and I wondered if it was her headed in the direction of the back deck...But I just stood there and saw a familiar gray 'flash' run up the steps, onto the deck, straight to me...it was Baby! She seemed to be okay and VERY hungry...I fixed her some warm cream mixed with a little water (in case of dehydration) and opened a can of salmon (I usually feed her dry catfood that comes in a bag but I wanted to make sure she was okay and feed her the best I had to give her) and put some of that in the bowl with the cream and she 'wolfed' most of it down, she let me pet her a while, then she was ready to go out and when I tried to talk her into staying in, she insisted I let her back out, so I got a box and put an old sheet in it and set it on the back deck and beside that I set beside the box her bowl that still had some salmon left in it...I really didn't want to put her back out, but she has 'panic attacks' if I keep her in past her 'comfort level' (she doesn't like coming inside as her wild mother that abandoned her trained her to be afraid and she's only comfortable living in the woods). So, I was sooooooo relieved she's okay and I thank you for your prayers!

Well, it is sunny and cold (30's) today, supposed to get up into the 40's or maybe up to 50, according to the tv.

A special thank you to Umpqua and Stringbean for your encouraging comments about Baby.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and remember...Jesus loves ya and so do I!

Love, Maria (smile)

I'm so glad you found Baby and she is safe. I hadn't read your earlier entry so didn't know about her. But I went back and read it and now I'm all caught up. It sounds like you're doing well with the weightloss. Have a good weekend.

SaneJane on 01/22/2005:
I'm so happy that you got your cat back! Lint, one of my four cats went for a little walk about in the fall for 10 days. She came back with so many burrs stuck in her long hair. She's one to leave for a few days on "mousing expeditions", but I admit I was a little worried after a few days. God does watch over lost cats! She's staying pretty close to hame these days because it's -40C out there!
