I'm leaving for Island 140...Goodbye, Island 141! Good morning, everyone! Rainy morning here in South Carolina, currently 45 degrees fahrenheit, with high expected around 60. Hope you are all doing well. As for me, I feel discouraged because I got on the scale and it still sits on 141 this morning. I even got on the treadmill yesterday, in spite of sunburn, and got sunburn heated up worse, trying to break the barrier from 141 to 140. So, I guess this is just a wait and see, eh? My goal is to be at 140 within 2 more days (before April 1st). Anyway, all of you have a great day today. You're all doing terrific! :) Update: Menu for today is: Breakfast: Large salad of lettuce, toasted walnuts, cheddar cheese, chicken breast, onions, orange slices. Lunch: Banana, chicken, salad. Supper: Large bowl of vegetable soup. Lots of water, no soft drinks! (Thanks, Kyrin!) Have a great day! :)

Hi Maria!

I would love to see you on the Island of Joy (140) by April 1st. How about getting rid of the soft drink and drink water instead. Carbonated drinks are (I think) sodium carbaonated. Try drinking more water to flush things out of your system...

I've already got my pom-poms waving in the breeze...all set to cheer.

Hi There! I don't know what weight loss program you are on, but the one I am on advises the following for breaking a plateau! Eat nothing but protein and veg's for two days! I don't know if that is something you care to do, but it generally works. You'd eat like, 2 eggs scrambled for breakfast, and lunch would be a chicken breast with a salad and dinner would be a hambg. patty with a salad. Lots of water. Other than that, I envy your weight! I can't wait to get to your Island! Wanna hear something funny! When I first happened upon this sight I read your entry first. I thought you were really on an island! It takes a while for this gal to catch on! Carrie

It won't be long and you will be docking into island 140. Wish I could stay on track as well as you are at the moment, not doing very well - but nevermind I have decided April is going to be my month - so watch out!

Don't despair... your sunburn is an injury and your body may be retaining water weight to help it heal. Keep drinking.. your body needs it! Those pounds will drop all at once... don't give up!

Yes, I volunteer one morning a week at a non-euthanizing animal shelter. Some of the critters are "semi-permanent residents"(they've been there forever!). I really like the idea of not putting a good animal to sleep, just because it's time in a shelter is up. This place only takes in strays and abandoned animals, and they only take as many as they have room for. As soon as a spot is vacated, there's always another cat or dog waiting to take it's place. I just go in to help clean up the cat rooms, and then I hang around to brush, pet, and play with them. The cats are allowed to all run around loose in the building, and they (amazingly!) all seem to get along well. Even our grumpy older cat (with brain damage) is good to the kittens.

I'm getting a bit discouraged that my scale hasn't moved, and I'm sure you are too. I <i>do know</i> that I've lost inches, though, even if I've been stuck at 164 forever. That's kept me going. Have you measured, to see if you're losing inches? It's so nice to know that I've lost almost 2 inches off my butt in the last 6 weeks! Yay! We're gonna lose this pound this week! LOL

Is it possible that you need to eat more protein to help you over this hump? Maybe I'm crazy, but maybe your body is hanging onto fat thinking it won't get anymore calories. Try eating salmon - good protein and very high quality omega 3 fat - (low calorie also - so don't be concerned about that) Just a suggestion - but do remember that this is all chemical reactions and genetic programming - sometimes you have to change it up a but to work with your system!

Sailboat is ready and waiting...so what am I waiting for?

Good morning, everyone! Sunny and cool (currently 39, with high forecasted at 60 degrees fahrenheit) here in South Carolina. Menu for yesterday was: Breakfast: banana, cornbread, bowl of green string beans with potatoes, 7-up. Lunch: bowl of green string beans with potatoes, 7-up. Supper: one and a half cups shelled pecans, 1 orange, water. No exercise because of sunburn and swollen legs, ankles, and feet. However, I will try to get on the treadmill today as you all have me motivated to exercise. Hope you all have a great day! :)

Thanks for the kick in the butt about the icecream. I needed it. I've been BAAAAD :) I needed some self pity about studying sooooo much for this exam. And I have another big project coming up right after the exam. Oh God, this college life is too much. One woulkd think that as a senior I should be suffering from 'senioritis' like in high school and not study. I WISH!!! :-D

BTW Yeast Extract is a savoury spread - vitamin enriched, with vegetable extract, the famous brand name here is Marmite - its something you either love or hate and it has no points!!!

I think I'd drop that 7-up (replace it with water), and increase your protein. Pecans are fine, but what about a chicken breast, or fish? (Gal...I gotta tell ya....those string beans are too much! Try another greeen veggie occasionally!)

Good morning, everyone. Yes, vacation was nice, but this sunburn is not nice. I don't know if the swollen ankles (and feet and legs) are due to sunburn or all the walking...but I couldn't do any exercise yesterday and had to keep my legs and feet elevated a lot during the day and the swelling is going down some now. The sinus infection is an allergy thing, I think. Anyway, yesterday's menu was: Breakfast: coffee, banana, 1/2 turkey pot pie. Lunch: 2 mackeral patties, grits, 7-up, banana. Snack: 1 cup shelled pecans, 1 orange. Supper: 2 mackeral patties, banana, 7-up. Total calories: Approximately 1800. I hope you all have a great day today. :)

I should think its the sunburn that has affected your legs and ankles. I used to live in Brunei in Borneo years ago and the sun has a strange affect on you if you get too much.

Take it easy and rest those legs, don't worry you will soon be at goal. I have a bottle and the cork is nearly half way out for you!!!

Too much sun can do funny things to you.. get plenty of water and rest! Aloe Gel is a great reliever and healer of sunburns!

You're doing great getting those fruits in your diet! Good for you! I'm trying to as well!

Be sure to get the aloe gel (the clear kind ) It will be in the sun care section. It is really soothing! It won't have the perfumes in it that regular lotion has.

The onions are doing pretty good. I finally got my tomato seed planted the other night. I planted six varieties.

Maria,,,so sorry your feet and legs are bothering you still:{ Me and hubby went on a cruise 4 yrs ago and he got sunburned and his ankles swelled for over a week,,,i never realized a sunburn could cause that,,so be careful and keep them elevated when your not walking around ok,,,Hey your menu today doesn't sound like your eating enough?,,,you need to add some veggeis to that dinner,:} i know,,,OK mom:}} lol

Still here on Island 141...boat not ready to sail quite yet...still working on the sail. I received a note in a bottle yesterday saying why don't I just swim the rest of the way to Island 140. It would be a 24 hour swim, non-stop. I thought about it, but decided I am going to go ahead and finish the sail on the boat and then leave by boat.

Good morning, everyone! Today Hubby and I leave for our long weekend at the beach! :) It is sunny and high forecasted at 68 degrees fahrenheit for today. I am still at 141, weightwise. We plan to do a LOT of walking, along the beach and on the fishing piers...and we might fish if the fish are biting. I will miss all of you and plan to see you back here Monday morning. Boat is repaired and now I am making a sail for it. Island 140 is the last island in this chain of islands and the largest and the most difficult to get to of all the islands. But a sail should help instead of only boat paddles. Sometimes, to get to where we are going takes a little extra effort. I have found some good, healthy foods on this island. Wild yams, also a type of stringbean that grows on a very long vine, lots of fresh berries and nuts. Also, I have roasted the fish I caught and cleaned and prepared to take them with me on the completion of this journey. Will be leaving soon! :)

Good morning, everyone! Rainy morning here in South Carolina, supposed to clear up later and be beautiful. I have already fed the birds and squirrels. I have been sitting here by the window, watching them eat their breakfasts. Tomorrow Hubby and I will be leaving for our long weekend at the beach. (Forecasted to have warm, sunny weather throughout weekend, beginning tomorrow.) So, if I don't get to post tomorrow before we leave, I will catch you all Monday. However, I will be thinking of all of you while I am away, as I always do. Menu for today is: Breakfast: 2 cheesetoasts, 1 banana, 1 decaf coffee. Lunch: Fruit plate, decaf coffee. The fishing is great here on Island 141. But I must not allow myself to continue to be distracted...I've got to get back to work on the boat!

Good morning, everyone! Sunny and cool here in South Carolina. I only ate one time yesterday and that was at the buffet...I don't think I went over 1200 calories. Anyway, I've only got one more to go to be at goal. Hubby and I are planning on leaving Thursday afternoon for a long weekend at the beach. :) Supposed to be good weather this weekend at the beach, sunny and warm. Okay...menu for today: Breakfast: Banana and decaf coffee. Lunch: Turkey burger, baked fries, decaf tea. Snack: orange. Supper: Soup, crackers, decaf tea, decaf coffee. 1200 calories. Mmmmmmmm. The beach trip sounds lovely! It's still a bit chilly down at Gulf Shores, so we'll probably stay home for Jim's 50th birthday on Sunday. He's taking a long weekend off because we thought we might like to go to the beach--until we realized that some college students are still celebrating their spring break.

You have fun on your trip. We'll try to find some interesting things to do here in Auburn...but you know that I'll be thinking of you walking those beaches. {grin}

Hi Maria, I'm 5'8" also. But 140 lbs. for my body frame is overweight. You can determine your skeletal frame by measuring your wrist. Wrap your pointer (first) finger and thumb around the widest part of wrist. If they don't meet, you have a large skeletal frame. If they just touch, you are a medium-size frame. If they overlap, (like mine do) you have a small frame. I know that 20% of the population has a small frame but I'm not sure of the percentages of the other two. However, that measurement is very important when you decide how much weight is right for your body. 120 -125 is optimal for small frame, and I believe that 140-145 lbs is right for larger frames (check that out with your dr. or the AMA, I guess). I think you are doing really well, and I look forward to the day I am only a few lbs. away from my goal, too!! Great graphics, once again!! Hope this info. was helpful if you weren't already familiar with it. (And remember, losing too much is just as bad as being overweight -- I've been THERE too, unfortunately...) Jo

Good morning, everyone! Partly sunny, with high 57 degrees fahrenheit today in South Carolina. Taking Hubby out to eat at his favorite buffet restaurant after church services. So, only coffee this morning for breakfast. Lunch will probably be 1200 calories at the buffet. Maybe an orange and more coffee tonight. Lots of walking, but faster than this kitty. I loved your kitty!!! He walks about as fast as my fat kitty! lol He is always under foot and too trusting! He expects us to walk over him or move him ourselves. Darned if he will move himself! ---> breakaway swims (which was very tiring by the way) to Maria's island and helps her work on her boat! Beautiful day here in calif for fishing,now if only i liked doing that;}} sounds like your day is going well for you,,,i love your grafics today,i did't have time to look any up,gotta do that so i can start useing them,we are about to leave to go to the bbq birthday party,,well have a great sunday maria:}}}I really think this problem with my throat and glands being swelled today is probley infection that finally found its place to settle in,,,just last week i was fighting a bit of a sinus problem,so i will go have it checked out later today:}

Hi Maria! You asked about resetting your goal... Well, I'm also 5'8", so I kind of have an idea of your dilemma. I looked good at 140, a bit thin at 135, and too thin at 130. ...but I really wanted to be out of the 140s when I finish...so I set my goal weight at 138. I have some photos from that weight. I looked healthy, but trim. ...and it had the bonus of being in the 130s. LOL

It doesn't matter what the scale says...how do you think you look and feel? The scale could say 150, but if you are happy there, that's good enough. ...or use another measurement tool. What does the tape measure say?

I am having to repair my boat today, so I stopped by an island this morning, Island 141. These islands are so small, they have numbers instead of names. I also needed a fresh supply of food. This is all the food I had left in my boat. So, I guess I will look around and see what food I can find on this island to stock up before I am on my way again after I fix my boat.

Good morning, everyone! It is a very foggy morning here in South Carolina.

Supposed to be sunny and warm, with high forecasted at 65 degrees fahrenheit today. I was in the grocery store yesterday and there was a buy one, get one free deal on ice cream...Hubby LOVES ice cream...so, I reached into the freezer and picked out 2 cartons, 1 strawberry for Hubby and the other neapolitan, in case I might decide to have a little. Neapolitan has chocolate in it and I love chocolate. That way Hubby still got his favorite, strawberry, in the second ice cream, neapolitan, which has vanilla, strawberry, and my favorite, chocolate, too. I put both cartons in my buggy, with people standing in a line behind me, ready to get their ice cream deals. Then it occurred to me...."What am I doing??? I KNOW I'll eat at least one carton of this ice cream if I get this! Which will probably mean a gain!!!" I got the 2 cartons of ice cream out of the grocery buggy and put them back, with people still standing in line behind me. So, then I headed for the fresh produce and fruit department and got fresh fruit instead of the ice cream. Menu for today is: Breakfast: toasted pimento cheese sandwich, banana, decaf coffee. Lunch: Hotdog, baked french fries, decaf tea. Snack: apple or orange. Supper: Soup, crackers, decaf tea. Total: 1200 calories. Workout and Water. Have a great Saturday, all of you! :)

What great willpower you have. When I started reading, I thought 'oh no, you are going to end up eating more than you think!, so you did the right thing!!! You have my admiration.

Also, how do you make your entry look so good. Could someone as ignorant about computers, like me be able to do it?

Wow!!! Excellent job on bypassing those overly tempting ice-cream opportunities. :) I guess I didn't do the same and ate a Chicken caesar salad last night, with dressing and all, when we went out after playing bowling. And here are the results: 2 pounds gain. Yeeek. This really sucks, but I am not getting discouraged.<br> Yesterday was kinda fun. I haven't seen my best friend, who is a guy, for a few days and when he saw me -- 13 (now 11) pounds lighter, he was sitting there pinching my cheeks and saying that I have nothing to pinch anymore. I used to have really chubby cheeks, but it looks as though a lot of the fat has gone away and even mu chin looks much more pointed instead of round. So I am happy. <br>
