Well I'm back and heavier than when I left. Between thanksgiving and New year's I've been off the chain. I haven't weighed myself and probably never will again. I don't know. I've been active, very active since my absence here. I've been playing a lot of frisbee golf and walking quite a bit. I played my first tournament yesterday and did very well. I've been reading all of the posts, just not saying much. You guys are still doing very good. Keep up the good work. Have a Healthy Day.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2017:
I've been waiting for your return!

You sound kinda upset with yourself. It's always rough to start the year. Everyone wants to feel better.

You are ok. Remember how far you have come. You can always get back to where you want to be. It just takes a heck of a lot of patience. And once you learn how to stay there, you still have to be consistent. Don't worry!

Glad to hear you've been out and about.

It's always hard during the holidays and especially depending on the food options wherever you go to celebrate. for me, it's certainly easier because there tends to be healthier options around.

Duaa123. on 01/02/2017:
Ooh hi , welcom back .. u will lose this kilo next days with working hard ..

grannyannie on 01/02/2017:
Welcome back. I understand. The scale has been going in the wrong direction here as well. I'm mostly active so could be worse.

innerpeace on 01/02/2017:
Missed you! Sorry about your Buckeyes.

hollybelle on 01/03/2017:
I get it! Just keep an open mind and it will get better again! Please make it sooner than later! I haven't had a holiday season like this one in a number of years. Usually the thought of playing catch up keeps me reasonable, but this year - nah! Time to pay the piper! It beats just giving up and being unhealthy! That's about all I have to say about the matter right now!

You made my day and made me feel better about my own predicament :)

Good morning. My weight is the same as last week. The only thing to report is that I've joined a group of frisbee golf players that meet every Saturday. They are as Insane as I am. They told me that they play all winter no matter how cold. The only thing that stops them is rain..InSane...The only other thing to report is a confession. I broke down and bought, you guessed it, cheese doodles. Bless me Father for I have Sinned. I hope to rebound from this and stay on the straight and narrow road to good health. I hope everyone is doing good through all the holiday stuff. Have a Healthy Day.

puddles on 12/05/2016:
Good morning Raven. Yes that is insane in the cold to play outside. Cheese Doodles that is your little devil side... lol I am sure that you are forgiven my son... lol Have a great week Raven.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/05/2016:
LOL. you don't have anything to substitute for the cheesedoodles yet? i am sure there are things...no? lol. seems you like the cheese and salty flavor. I'm trying to think what else can help...i've got it - bullion cubes...i may be saying it wrong - i mean broth. maybe you can do a low salt version or a low cal soup that is also lower salt? maybe you are craving salt??

anyways, that is pretty dare-devilish to play frisbee all winter long.

Donkey on 12/05/2016:
I live down the block from a disc golf course. (I'm thinking that's the same thing or very close...) Not many people that I can tell use it, but if it keeps the land free from development -- other than the hoops and the signs -- then I'm all for it.

grannyannie on 12/05/2016:
Hey, OR! Nice to see you. You'll get back on track!

hollybelle on 12/06/2016:
Cheese Doodles! Now is the time to cut back so we can endulge on the holidays! At least that is what I am telling myself. Hee-hee!

Good morning. It's sauerkraut day and I'd like to tell you what I add to it. Chicken, mushrooms, olives, onions, fresh garlic and kale. I put it in a pressure cooker for about 20 minutes. I drained it well but I don't rinse it. Adding the kale helps to cut the harshness out of it. I try to eat it 3 times a week. I've had a sore throat for a couple days but now it's moved on up to my sinuses. To tell you the truth, I'd rather have an infection up there than down in my throat. I passed on the big jug of cheese Doodles I saw at the odd-lot store. a small victory for me. Have a Healthy day.

puddles on 11/30/2016:
Good morning Raven. That is quite a mixture of items in your sauerkraut. Sorry to hear that you are not feel good just make sure to take care of yourself. Good job on walking away from the Doodles. Have a great day.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/30/2016:
Good Morning OR!

Olives are actually healthy with their olive oil. Nice addition to a salad. I used to not want them for the extra calories…but now I consider them a nice treat with all veggies. Chicken is good, turkey good too maybe it would take in some of the moisture of the veggies to make it softer? Also I’m loving the onions part and garlic – and it’s fresh. What really tastes good is roasted garlic! Have you had it? I’m sure you have – roasted with olive oil of course. And who doesn’t like mushrooms? They help fill you up and can even be a substitute for most of the meat (not all…as I like protein!). And kale = awesome addition. You rock. Nice meal indeed. You can still have some carbs with this meal if you want – like a little bit only of potato or sweet potato or some chips but only after you eat this wonderful dish. Or even a large apple after? I am unable to eat only protein and veggies at all meals anymore…need a starchier carb at the end to really be satisfied…but I still work on limiting those starchy carbs, just not as often as I used to.

I think that this mixture you make, this wonderful dish rather, is really great & healthy & you can continue to add different assortments of veggies to not get bored – cooked tomato or canned tomato, green beans or other beans, eggplant!, different types of peppers, jalepenos, bean sprouts, bok choy, celery, root veggies like daikon or radish or similar, squash like acorn or butternut, squash like zucchini / summer, turnup, parsnip, other types of mushrooms like shirataki…brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli (not a fan), swiss chard (similar to kale), leeks, other flavorings like cilantro / Mexican flavoring, etc….list can go on I bet.

I hope you feel better, sorry to hear of the sinus / sore throat issue. I got that a couple times last year and the over the counter sinus sprays did wonders both to use in morning and at bedtime along with a pill for nasal congestion. I hope you feel better soon. The throat gets sore when sinuses are clogged and everything drips down into the throat from the nose.

Think of something to substitute when you want cheese doodles. Like celery sticks or pickles? And seltzer…I do seltzer and the flavored type and then I add extra stevia to make it really sweet, naturally & still no calories. I have my substitutes for high cal food. It’s a big victory, give yourself full credit, to not buy something that causes a bad habit of getting into…or….allow yourself to eat them after meals. Buy lots of cheese doodle bags to have a large suppy at home is another option…that’s what I do with veggie chips so I don’t feel like I’m running out or having my last portion I do not overeat as much because I am feeling they are always there for my taking. I eat chips a lot after meals. Usually 1-2 servings only though.

Weirdly, fresh pineapple is amazing for sore throats.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/30/2016:

Good morning. I'm doing good. Sauerkraut and salad last night.Drinking more water too. Have a Healthy Day.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/29/2016:
Do you eat any meat or anything or protein with the salad and sauerkraut. Btw, i think it's a good idea to eat the sauerkraut at night because it helps move things thru the body by morning, right!? haha.

have a good day OR! So happy to hear you are doing good!!! :-D

innerpeace on 11/29/2016:
Not a sauerkraut fan. i have tried it many times and still no, just no! Water is good! Have a great day.

Good morning Raven. You are starting to sound like your old self with the sauerkraut just the pickles missing out of your list... lol Have a great and healthy day.

Good morning, 197 Lbs. But I'm finally off the CheeseDoodles. No exercise yet, but I've played a couple games of FrisbeeGolf. My Ravens beat the Bengals so, all in all its a pretty good day. Have a Healthy Day.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/28/2016:
I have NEVER head of FrisbeeGolf! Is it a game on the computer? Or a WiiFit game? hmmm. I should look it up but i wanna hear it from you.

Glad you are off the cheese doodles. I was reading a specific article that mentioned cheese doodles as being one of those "melt in your mouth" foods that contribute to a feeling of never feeling full while eating them. If you want, I could give you reasons why they aren't good for you? ???

It's interesting how some foods we can eat such large quantities of and never get full - smoothies & liquid foods like ice cream as well as chips that "melt in your mouth" easily...

Welcome back and thank you again for your caring comment last Wednesday when i was having a VERY off day. :-D It did mean a lot to me.

puddles on 11/28/2016:
Great news Raven glad you are off those Doodles. You must be feeling a great sense of accomplishment ride the feeling and enjoy your week.

Bad morning. Today I'm 2 lbs heavier than last week. I've been doing the same routine as the weeks before. I really might change it up to get some exercise after Thanksgiving. One confession; I've been on the cheese doodles for the last 2 weeks. I know I shouldn't eat them but it's hard to quit. I've got a real monkey on my back. Talk to you all next Monday. Have a Healthy week.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/14/2016:
Hi OR. I told someone about you. That person was my date. He asked what I do on the internet and I mentioned this site, but not exact name of it or your name, don’t worry! He’s the Guy that I will not be going out with for a 3rd time. 2x was enough. I found him to be so nice and even confident but out personalities were far from a match. Only real thing we had in common was the gym. This is the exact reason I don’t generally like dating people I don’t know…

Maybe find a healthier substitute for cheese doodles like pickles for now? Or…do something more proactive to get away from eating. Or drink some low cal options. I wish you strength to get yourself over this period of challenges. Maybe you needed some rest. Remember to keep your head up.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/14/2016:
I agree with Holly's below comment. Sometimes life catches up...it's ok.

puddles on 11/14/2016:
I love those cheezes also but so high in salt that is why I don't have them. You will find a substitute. Just keep trying that is all you can do and don't give up Raven.

innerpeace on 11/14/2016:
I know all about that damn monkey! I've been carrying mine around for years. I will overtake him though! Good luck.

Donkey on 11/15/2016:
Keep trying!!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/16/2016:
All the comments above are good. NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF. when we get out of good habits, it's hard to get back - but as long as you get back. Lately i crave sweets, breads, fats. I have been eating more of them this week and now i'm finding it hard to stop - bc the tastes and effects have been in my body...but the choice remains mine to stop. to have a banana and not the candy always.

thinkpositive on 11/17/2016:
My husband loves Utz brand cheese snacks but he has managed to branch out to include other salty snacks.Fior me it's pretzels or almonds. Can't have just a few. I envy people who can have a few snacks & be okay with it. May have to go cold turkey. Take care OR.

Good morning. My weight is finally the same as last week. I have been doing zero exercise. Not even warehouse walks. I'm just too tired these days and feel like conserving my energy for when I need it. I'm working overtime almost every day and playing out every night. I think that is probably enough for this tired old body. I hope everyone is doing good. Have a Healthy week.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/07/2016:
Yes, rest is important. So if you need to conserve energy that is totally ok! I know how you feel bc i get this way very much too :) I'm glad your weight is back to being on track! Good for you. I'm sure you are enjoying playing out at the bars i assume? It may not be exercise, but you are still using your mind & body a lot and burning more calories being in a band than sitting home! It is hard work! Enjoy the moments.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/07/2016:
How old are you if you don't mind lol!

hollybelle on 11/01/2016:
Aw, OR you can get back on track. One or two days of better choices will usually turn it around for me to get on a "streak". You can do it!
