Here is a problem. I make a BIG pot of soup every Sunday. This is healthy stuff. All vegs from the garden except for turkey burger and canned spinach. It's the soup you see me post Every Day. But now that I've slimmed down, Wifey's thinks it tastes good and eats the heck out of it. Now it doesn't last through the week. And SHE WON'T MAKE MORE. So now I'm stuck eating canned soup at the end of the week. Any suggestions or solutions are welcome.

Have a Healthy, Great Weekend !

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only -27 lbs to go!

hollybelle on 08/17/2013:
Make more soup on Sunday! :-)

hollybelle on 08/17/2013:
Meant to type more but hit the comment button accidently - add some more beef or chicken broth, vegetables and another roll of ground turkey and double it. If you don't eat that much you can freeze it, or eat more yourself. I usually only make soup in cold weather, but family (and a friend I sometimes feed) requested some last week and I have made two different kinds the last two weeks. I make a stock pot full and take some to my mother and my friend. I hate canned soup, with the exception of Amy's Chunky Tomato Bisque and then I have to put a dab of sour cream in that.

grannyannie on 08/17/2013:
Make a bigger pot or two pots and freeze some of it. My hubby does almost all the cooking (I'm the soup cooker)and he always makes a big pot which lasts us as least 3 dinners. They are usually curries but the ingredients vary so I'm not really eating the same thing every day!

Enjoy your weekend.

Happy Friday, Ohio!

grannyannie on 08/16/2013:
Have an amazing day, Ohio! Are you getting ready for your race?

OhioRaven on 08/16/2013:
Hi, Annie. I don't know what I could do to help my running except maybe strengthen my leg muscles. The ones in front and one top of my thighs. Where my lap would be. I found it difficult to walk DOWN stairs right after the RunDown Challenge. If you've got more info please let me know. See ya'.

legcramps on 08/16/2013:
Have a good, busy day today :)

grannyannie on 08/16/2013:
Google exercises for prevention of shin splints. Those would be the muscles that got sore, the going downhill ones. Actually you can just sit and flex your feet while at the computer as that is one of the exercises.

biscottibody59 on 08/16/2013:
Have a good weekend!

RYC: Scarlett's words are in my first entry here:-)

Congrats on finding your first 5k!! It's a truly wonderful experience and you feel so accomplished afterward!!

Umpqua on 08/15/2013:
Great news on the 5K, you are really kicking things up a notch!

grannyannie on 08/15/2013:
How exciting to have your first race! We'll be cheering for ya!

I think you're going to have so much FUN with this 5k! YAY! Proud of you :)

biscottibody59 on 08/15/2013:
Keep up the good work!

RYC: haha:-)

V on 08/15/2013:
Hope you had a good day Ohio!!

RYC I totally agree as far as "Flip" (guy with the mask and Drew however after watching the show for a few seasons it is truly anyone's game since there are some athletes that go for speed and make costly mistakes(like Brent Steffinson who was eliminated before Vegas..So far Brent went further than any American at Mt. Midoriamo) Anyhoo I hope that one of the vets win although I root for all competitors, that is a crazy tough course right??? Have a good evening :)

hollybelle on 08/16/2013:

thenewMLE on 08/14/2013:
Do I see you are riding??? Yeah! Another rider! Missed following you and I am so impressed that you are STILL losing!! I can't imagine you would want to lose much more. If you are riding, you will be building more muscle too. I hope to read back on everything I missed, but time has been at a real shortage for me. Take care and congrats!

Feel like I ate too much yesterday. Still waking up. Can't think of anything profound, witty, or silly to say right now...it'll come to me later...Hey !

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only -27 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 08/13/2013:
Your food list looks good to me - particularly since you did a long bike ride. You'll need to eat more as you exercise regularly and you're choosing very healthy options!

legcramps on 08/13/2013:
Did you ever try cottage cheese with green onion? I remember talking it up to you a while ago, and you seemed a little disgusted by the thought of this combination LOL. Great job on the 11 mile bike ride! You are KILLING it!

OhioRaven on 08/13/2013:
Nope ! I gotta keep my CottageCheese fruity. I also know a girl who eats hers with tomato.

grannyannie on 08/13/2013:
Good for you on the bike ride. Maybe you were hungrier due to more activity?

V on 08/13/2013:
I am pretty sure with the 11 mile ride you needed the extra calories..It's okay to keep the intake low on the days you may not get around to exercising however you need fuel to support and protect you on the days you go for it..Have a great evening Ohio!

I'm still amazed at my weight maintenance. Exactly 172Lbs. Again this morning. You guys get a lot of credit. But I helped a little along the way too. Hope you guys have a great day. I've got more gardening to do today.

Have a Healthy Day !

hollybelle on 08/12/2013:
We support you, but YOU get all the credit you choose what you eat and when and how you move your body! But thanks for thinking of us! :-) Get that gardening done. If your weather's dry I am envious!

OArecovery on 08/12/2013:
Well done on the maintenance- that is awesome!!

legcramps on 08/12/2013:
Do you have a large garden? I remember seeing a picture of your garden, or part of it - but I don't remember how big it is. Anyways, sounds like you put a lot of work into it, and i'm a little envious. I wish I wanted a garden! But with the way my yardwork has gone for the past couple of weeks, i'm happy enough with a few pots of pepper, peas, and tomatoes!

Umpqua on 08/12/2013:
Excellent work on the maintenance and I LOVE green tea!

V on 08/12/2013:
Great job maintaining Ohio I am proud of your stick to it attitude! Have a great evening!!

hollybelle on 08/11/2013:
Your increase in activity/exercise is likely the root of your increased appetite. Burn more - need more.....I can tell the biggest difference when I ride my bike as opposed to not. Just make sure you eat good stuff and it will even out. You are hydrating well, so that's good, too!

Dear Diary, Said my morning prayers. (The Lord always gives me so much more than I ever ask for.) 1can of soup (Yuck !), 1egg, 1bread, 1/4c beans 2tomatoes SaladMinipopcornPickle YogurtWheatGermFlaxSeedsunflowerSeedWalnutsBerriesHoney Apple Got off work, time for my challenge. Comfy shoes (Check) Shorts, Tshirt, Sweaty hat, Sunglasses (Check) EarPlugs, MP3's of Cool Power Songs (Check) Stretch a few muscles, turn on Fitness GPS...Here we go... I started out with too big of a stride but tucked it back in right away. (Thanks SkinnyGirl) Lungs were good, tunes were good, pace was excellent. I didn't check my GPS progress until about 3 miles into it. That's when I saw the other bridge. At about 4 miles I started to have some doubts, but I had you guys in the back of my head cheering me on, (really). The bridge wasn't seeming to be getting any closer. I thought, "how can this thing be so close and so far away at the same time". I had to keep my eyes down and stare at my shadow as I ran so I wouldn't see the damn thing. Muscles in the front of my thighs and my butt were starting to hurt. I told myself I was going to push on through this. I listened to every note on my next song, and then passed through the shadow of the bridge. I stopped running and took a few weird walking steps. This RunDownChallenge was NOT easy, but it was worth doing. Now I think I can run in one of these mini marathons or 5k's for a good cause. (Thanks, GrannieAnnie) Finished my diet for the day at the restaurant where my daughter works. Had a salad, some watermelon, Chicken soup without noodles and at night I had CottageCheesePineapple.

It looks like this Today is my DD RunDownChallenge, right after work. About 3 oclock. I'll try to jog as far as I can, for as long as I can. It will be on a bike path along the great Miami river. From one river bridge to the other is about 5 miles. I Seriously doubt I'll make it that far but I'm shooting for 1mile. Wish me luck.

skinnygrlwithin on 08/09/2013:
I think you'll do fantastic!!! Remember, whenever you start to get tired just swing your arms harder... it's amazing how much longer you can run if you just keep your arms going... and remember, go at your own pace... don't let other people's pace influence you. Do what you're comfortable with! GOOOODDD LUCK!!!!

yum...i loved those pickled foods too....:-D there's something special about pickled foods...all that salt and vinegar is no good but i do love it too! prayers!

Tried tracking my calories yesterday and I just can't do it. I tried the fitness apps and checked on the websites. It just overwhelms me. Thank you guys for suggesting some ways to do it. This place is great for that. I'm pretty sure I know what to do. Eat when I'm hungry. Seems to work for me. Tried posting a picture on here but it doesn't want to upload to the server. I'll probably put it on face book later. I AM going to take a day in the near future and at a starting point on one of my many bike paths, start jogging to see how far I can get...a mile would be great. After reading GrannieAnnie's posts about her running it's got me Gigged up. I think I'll call it the DD Run.This run WILL happen. I guess this is my mini challenge to keep things shaking on the DD website, so stay tuned. Have a Healthy Day !

Progress as of today: 60 lbs lost so far, only -27 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 08/08/2013:
You are losing without counting calories so you must be doing something right. Just keep it up! :)

Umpqua on 08/08/2013:
I agree with Annie, if you are able to lose/maintain without counting calories then that is fantastic! For me, I know how I should be eating and how much without tracking. However, if I don't track I start adding little extras here and there and that's a big no-no for me. So the logging is more of a way to keep myself in check. Good luck with your mini challenge!
