I'm still amazed at my weight maintenance. Exactly 172Lbs. Again this morning. You guys get a lot of credit. But I helped a little along the way too. Hope you guys have a great day. I've got more gardening to do today.

Do you have a large garden? I remember seeing a picture of your garden, or part of it - but I don't remember how big it is. Anyways, sounds like you put a lot of work into it, and i'm a little envious. I wish I wanted a garden! But with the way my yardwork has gone for the past couple of weeks, i'm happy enough with a few pots of pepper, peas, and tomatoes!

Your increase in activity/exercise is likely the root of your increased appetite. Burn more - need more.....I can tell the biggest difference when I ride my bike as opposed to not. Just make sure you eat good stuff and it will even out. You are hydrating well, so that's good, too!

Dear Diary, Said my morning prayers. (The Lord always gives me so much more than I ever ask for.) 1can of soup (Yuck !), 1egg, 1bread, 1/4c beans 2tomatoes SaladMinipopcornPickle YogurtWheatGermFlaxSeedsunflowerSeedWalnutsBerriesHoney Apple Got off work, time for my challenge. Comfy shoes (Check) Shorts, Tshirt, Sweaty hat, Sunglasses (Check) EarPlugs, MP3's of Cool Power Songs (Check) Stretch a few muscles, turn on Fitness GPS...Here we go... I started out with too big of a stride but tucked it back in right away. (Thanks SkinnyGirl) Lungs were good, tunes were good, pace was excellent. I didn't check my GPS progress until about 3 miles into it. That's when I saw the other bridge. At about 4 miles I started to have some doubts, but I had you guys in the back of my head cheering me on, (really). The bridge wasn't seeming to be getting any closer. I thought, "how can this thing be so close and so far away at the same time". I had to keep my eyes down and stare at my shadow as I ran so I wouldn't see the damn thing. Muscles in the front of my thighs and my butt were starting to hurt. I told myself I was going to push on through this. I listened to every note on my next song, and then passed through the shadow of the bridge. I stopped running and took a few weird walking steps. This RunDownChallenge was NOT easy, but it was worth doing. Now I think I can run in one of these mini marathons or 5k's for a good cause. (Thanks, GrannieAnnie) Finished my diet for the day at the restaurant where my daughter works. Had a salad, some watermelon, Chicken soup without noodles and at night I had CottageCheesePineapple.

It looks like this Today is my DD RunDownChallenge, right after work. About 3 oclock. I'll try to jog as far as I can, for as long as I can. It will be on a bike path along the great Miami river. From one river bridge to the other is about 5 miles. I Seriously doubt I'll make it that far but I'm shooting for 1mile. Wish me luck.

I think you'll do fantastic!!! Remember, whenever you start to get tired just swing your arms harder... it's amazing how much longer you can run if you just keep your arms going... and remember, go at your own pace... don't let other people's pace influence you. Do what you're comfortable with! GOOOODDD LUCK!!!!

Tried tracking my calories yesterday and I just can't do it. I tried the fitness apps and checked on the websites. It just overwhelms me. Thank you guys for suggesting some ways to do it. This place is great for that. I'm pretty sure I know what to do. Eat when I'm hungry. Seems to work for me. Tried posting a picture on here but it doesn't want to upload to the server. I'll probably put it on face book later. I AM going to take a day in the near future and at a starting point on one of my many bike paths, start jogging to see how far I can get...a mile would be great. After reading GrannieAnnie's posts about her running it's got me Gigged up. I think I'll call it the DD Run.This run WILL happen. I guess this is my mini challenge to keep things shaking on the DD website, so stay tuned. Have a Healthy Day !

I agree with Annie, if you are able to lose/maintain without counting calories then that is fantastic! For me, I know how I should be eating and how much without tracking. However, if I don't track I start adding little extras here and there and that's a big no-no for me. So the logging is more of a way to keep myself in check. Good luck with your mini challenge!

With regards to the before picture... I used to have a goal picture (me in college) that I kept posted on the fridge... perhaps you could use your before picture in the same fashion to always keep you motivated.

Mornin' everybody. It was a hungry day for me yesterday. Does anyone know a good website or calculator to use when I want to figure out how many calories in something, like my soup. Lots of ingredients but I'm kinda lost on adding 5 tomatoes in a pot and consuming it over 7 days. How many calories per 1cup of this soup...see what I mean ? Hope everyone is good.

I use MyFitnessPal and have for years, I love it. You can plug in your recipe and the number of servings you get from it and it will calculate calories, etc. Lots of common recipes are already in their database too.

I use myfitnesspal as well, and I find it really handy. You have to make sure the foods you enter have their calorie counts and nutritional info entered correctly, but it's a super useful tool and free to use once you sign up!

You could also check out a recipe site like allrecipes.com, look for a similar recipe and seeing what the calories are in that. The Nutritional values are posted on the recipes there most of the time. When I don't KNOW the exact cals I usually will look up similar items on MFP or calorieking.com and take a poll of similar items and guesstimate it. I'd say I am usually not that far off.

I used to have a recipe calculator program--I'll look it up and see if it's still available to download, it was very usable at the time--several years ago.

If you know the ingredients, you can input the recipe in recipezaar.com (food.com) (free/must be a member) and it will come up with a nutritional info label with everything.

Hey Ohio!! Looks like you already have great suggestions so I am sure you will be fine..RYC Pizza really has a bad rap and if you make it at home with fresh produce and the leanest meats you would be fine,and yes as long as you make them in single serving portions(one tortilla) all is well..

Also a rule of thumb that I have used before and after weight loss thanks to Chalene Johnson is "Treat your kitchen like a restaurant, once dinner is served, the kitchen is closed" Makes sense when you put it like that right?? Have a good evening :)

The weather was great. The pay was not so great, but it was fun. Woke up to a scale that read 172. I'm kinda stunned by this, I thought I would be creeping back up by now. I'm just gonna keep living this lifestyle and take what the good Lord gives me. Sorry I haven't read/responded to posts. But I'll do that now. Happy CivicDay to all the Canadians ! Take Care. My throat hasn't seen a beet in a couple days and rehearsals have been spot on. One of my co-workers thinks she recently got food poisoning (e-coli) from eating a salad at LongHorn Steakhouse. Out of the 5 in their party, 3 had salads and only those 3 got sick. Let's all Have a Healthy Weekend !

Good job on the bike ride. E-coli is a dangerous one to get! My husband has convinced me that salad bars are definitely a no go as cold food is bad for breeding bacteria. Hot food okay, but not cold. Every time I got sick in Uganda it was when I had given in and had a salad.
