Progress as of today: 31 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Puddles on 03/04/2013:
Congrats on your loss. Way to go. Good work. You are close to your goal weight. That must certainly feel like a real accomplishment in such a short period of time. Keep it up. Have a great day Raven.

grannyannie on 03/04/2013:
Congrats! That's awesome!

Umpqua on 03/04/2013:
Wow - persistence pays off. Congrats!! P.S. Stevia is an acquired taste. What kind are you using? I have a liquid extract with almond flavor, but you can also get chocolate, vanilla, etc. I would suggest adding just a few drops and taking it from there. If you're using a powder, scale that back too. If you like flavored coffee, maybe just adding straight extract would be the way to go if you don't like sweetener.

1/4cbeans, 1bread, 1/2c oats, 1egg.

McSalad, pickle, 1/2 minipopcorn.

1c tomato juice, pickle, 1brzlnut, grapefruit.

12min StairClimber, 15min Treadmill, 15min Heavy bag.

Got a workout in :v) Weigh-in tomorrow. I'm trying stevia instead of splenda in my coffe/tea. It tastes "very" sweet. I may not like it. I don't like the "taste" of regular sugar, honey, or that syrup stuff I think its called guava nectar. Any other ideas for sweetening coffee is appreciated.

Progress as of today: 27 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

V on 03/03/2013:
Good Morning Ohio :) Hope that you find a suitable sweetener..Have a good day :)

grannyannie on 03/03/2013:
I've got 3 boxes of stevia in my cupboard but am trying not to use any artificial sweeteners. Don't know if I can get used to not having certain things sweetened, cappuccino is one of the things I like very sweet. Have a nice Sunday. Well done on the workout.

nunnermack on 03/03/2013:
Yuck, yuck!! I hate artifical sweetners!! I just use raw sugar and count the extra calories. I think it's only 35 per teaspoon so, not a lot. And I too like Annie have a whole bunch of Stevia in my cupboard. Don't know what I'm gonna do with it. Yuck! Phooey!!

biscottibody59 on 03/03/2013:
I think if you don't use an awful lot splenda, it should be fine, especially if that's the only thing you use it in and are concerned with the health and safety aspect of it.

Also there are products from "SoDelicious" made with coconut milk that are all right. They don't contain artificial sweeteners or HF corn syrup if you like milk in your coffee too.

Thanks for you thoughts on the quotation!

Puddles on 03/03/2013:
I am of no help to you with sugar I drink my coffee with milk only and actually do not even have sugar in the house not something I use at all. Since I have a sweet tooth I do not keep baking stuff either - easy to do when you live alone. Good luck tomorrow on your weigh-in.

graindart on 03/03/2013:
Coffee is one thing I've never been able to stand. I've tried adding everything or nothing to it and I can't handle more than a sip or two. The weird thing is that freshly brewed coffee is one of my favorite smells. I've actually ordered coffee before just to have it sit at the table so that I could smell the aroma. Good luck on the weigh-in tomorrow.

OhioRaven on 03/03/2013:
Hey, Dart. That really is weird. My daughter is starting to drink coffee and she's putting in lots of cream and sugar. You're doing good, man. I think the home exercise is the best investment you cam make for yourself. Take care.

1bread, 1egg, 1/4c beans, 1c DDLentils.

1/2can tomato soup, 1can tuna, pickle, minipopcorn, bit of cheese.

WeddingFood: I had to take a picture of my plate to remember it all. All measurements are my best guess. 3/4c greenbeans, 7babycarrots, 1/2c broccoli salad, 1/2c tofu/potato/carrot mix, 10mushrooms, 1c fruitmix.

Snacks@work 3/4c DDLentils (the last of them), grapefruit, yogurt, banana, 1brazilnut, 5 almonds.

No excersise (again) ***Kicking myself.

I'm at McDonald's having coffee with Darla before she goes to work. I didn't have my usual salad at work yesterday cause it went bad before I could get to it. It seems someone turned the thermostat on the fridge at work higher and froze my salad bags. They just turn to crap after that. I went off on everyone, you know, the way people on a diet lose their mind sometimes, when they get grumpy/cranky. (poor co-workers) I think the fridge will stay on my same setting for a while.

The wedding was a good one. Although I couldn't find a "grilled" chicken breast to save my life. Bluegrass this morning in a couple hours. Then move a hot tub with my brother. Church tonight.

I swear (hand raised) (solemn look) I will get some excersise tonight. Everyone have a healthy day.

Progress as of today: 27 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

mylilsista on 03/02/2013:
Chaperone? You're funny...(hehe). We didn't meet last night, as planned but rescheduled for Tuesday, since his son is sick. Will keep you posted.

I've allowed myself to get so busy this week that I haven't exercised, either. But, that is going to change. Today, I swear (solemn look), I am going to the gym! LOL

Your coworkers are probably planning an intervention (hehehehe)! They'll begin having flashbacks each time they come within 4 feet of that refrigerator! LOL

Awesome job with the wedding food Ohio! I knew ya would do it :)Get that workout in tonight, that's an order..LOL RYC Sweetpea still checks in just a little busy but all is well with her..I will tell her you asked about her.. Hope you have a great day!!

thenewMLE on 03/01/2013:
Enjoy your packed weekend! I grew up on wedding food because I was a wedding photographer from age 16 until 35. We shot 3 weddings a weekend and we had 6 hours coverage per wedding. Looking back on it, I don't know how I did it!! New Orleans weddings are not sit down occasions. They are fancy hors d'Ĺ“uvre and carving stations and lots and lots of dancing! If your feeling tired, boost the protein before you go. Good Luck!

Puddles on 03/01/2013:
It seems we both have a challenge this weekend. These challenges are what makes us stronger on a daily basis. I know you will be OK and that things will all work out. Have a good weekend Raven.

Dear Diary. I made the Curried Lentil Stew. I had everything I needed but added a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and used leaf spinach. Darla liked it. Meg won't go near it. I figure I have maybe 2 more days with it. Thanks GetBack.

That's the last of Puddles DDcabbage but I see more of it In the near future. A good substitute for all the Sauerkraut I was eating.

Well, that's all for now diary. Have a healthy day. Thanks for listening.

Your being very consistent with your food. I looked up the recipe for okonomiyaki given by niftyjack and it is quite interesting - if you like cabbage as much as I do - It is also quite adaptable to changes for personal taste. Just get tired of cooking the same thing. Have a great day Raven.

getmebackto150 on 02/28/2013:
I'm so excited that you tried the Curried Lentil Stew!!! Its pretty good right? It definitely tastes healthy!! Its not something I can eat all the time, but a good healthy meal. I just finished mine up yesterday at lunch!! Have a great day:)

I have a big head of red cabbage from doing fish tacos the other night and I am going to try an Asian slaw. If I get something tasty and healthy I will let you know. I am not a cooked cabbage eater, but I did like the red cabbage sliced and crunchy on the tacos. Have a great day!

25min workout video.

Dear diary, I knew I was going to be out all day so I put on the workout video right after breakfast. Those 3 girls kick my butt. Lunge here, plank there. Core this, Core that. They let me stop half way through to get a SIP of water. I reached for my coffee instead :v) My stomach and legs are sore like last week. I started working out on a heavy punching bag. My stomach was tight after that 10min. But it was nothing like after this video. I'm pretty sure I'll be doing this every Tuesday morning.

Have a healthy day.

So you are getting a 6 pack Raven. Way to go Mr. Universe. Enjoy your day and take care. Congrats on the exercise routine.

Puddles on 02/27/2013:
By starch I mean - some pasta or potatoe or rice or pancakes or anykind of baking. All that no no stuff. I don't have to do it but it is recommended because when I go back to the two week plan of restricted it makes my body react to not having it and the pds go down. It is just the balancing act. It teaches you to have and have not and to go back to eating healthy after you have had a no no.

10min Elliptical

10min Treadmill

10min Heavy Bag

There's something I thought about yesterday and wanted to share. Sure, this thing we're doing is Dieting, Yes, this thing is getting Physical Excersise. But for me there is so much mental discipline I have to "deal with" daily, weekly, hourly, when you least expect it.

There are grocery lists, excersise times I have to "squeeze" in between all the little slices of time I've metted out to everyone else. There is dealing with the hunger I sometimes feel when I walk away from a meal that "just didn't quite fill me up". It's being unhealthy and large for so long and then you give this diet and excersise thing a shot, your friends and family see you "not being yourself" and you "feel" the eyes on you, and in your own mind you start to wonder if you're some sort of "hypocrite" for trying this...again.

And what does my "short sighted " self see ahead of me ? Another day of Less Food, Physical Discomfort, Criticism,...

It's a wonder I haven't just given up, like all those times before, and dropped out of this site, never to be heard from again, till in the future, that time comes again, that I can't stand to look at myself the way that others surely see me. I humble myself, confess my dietary sins, ask forgiveness and another shot at life.

In a nutshell, I just want to say, that It's not just the diet and excersise that gives me a daily, hourly, weekly struggle. It's that struggle between my ears that drives me and others dieters crazy sometimes.

Thanks for listening. I feel better now :v)

Progress as of today: 27 lbs lost so far, only 6 lbs to go!

Tangalyn~ on 02/26/2013:
great post today :) congrats on all that water!! u r doing an amazing job.. and yes it is a struggle in all aspects but just know u r well on ur way to a healthy life and ur such an inspiration to us all :) have a great day!!

Puddles on 02/26/2013:

V on 02/26/2013:
Honest and candid post today Ohio! Yeah sometimes the dialogue in our head can get to us..With almost 30 lbs lost you are already successful IMO..I am sure you know this but just sayin :) Hope you have a great day!!

mylilsista on 02/26/2013:
I totally understand where you're coming from. That train wreck between my ears is my biggest barrier, as well. I "felt" many things (mostly critical emotions and self-doubt). Unfortunately, I based my actions on those feelings. Then I heard someone say, "Feelings are NOT facts". When you examine the facts, the TRUTH is, you've lost 27 pounds and only have 9 more to go. Regardless of what you "feel", the evidence proves you are pretty successful at this and what you're doing is working! Is it working perfectly? No. But, it's is working nevertheless!

As far as other people, please try not to put too much reliance on their approval rating. At the end of the day, you and you ALONE, shoulder the consequences of every choice. Thus, it's alright to be whomever you are at the moment. Life isn't a popularity contest. You are becoming someone different, and damn it, that is kewl :)

skinnygrlwithin on 02/26/2013:
I love your post today...and it's just so true, the struggle that each of us face daily to keep in line with this "dieting"... the struggle to just feel normal, and live life the way you see people living around you. Well just know that you've got us to support you...and there's no reason to ever feel like you've failed or too ashamed to come here... this is the place where you come for support...we're here to lift you back up.

getmebackto150 on 02/26/2013:
Good job getting in touch with exactly how you are feeling... I totally have that same struggle from time to time... We are here to support you and you are doing so wonderfully!!

thenewMLE on 02/26/2013:
Love your post this morning! It is a struggle in many ways, but I don't want to think of it as a diet, I think of it as a life journey. I never regularly exercised before and I always ate what I wanted. And once the long term affects of that hit me, I realized that I want to be energetic and healthy and start living my life and appreciating my gift of life and hopefully sharing with future grand children the joy of life. Those little voices you hear are just testing your strength. You are succeeding beautifully and you must see that in the mirror. But it is more than what is in the mirror - it's the longevity of a quality life. I don't want to be dependent on my children to take care of me because I have abused my body. Yes, fat and cholesterol can abuse your heart. An over indulging meal is OK once in a while, your body can handle that, but it's the everyday abuse that shortens the quality of life. Keep up the good work and PLEASE don't just disappear from here - we need your encouragement too!!! Have a great day!

legcramps on 02/26/2013:
Great post :)

I agree that the fighting that goes on between our ears is just as large-scale as any other struggles we might be going through. The perceptions of others can greatly affect us in very profoundly negative ways, and I find that discouraging and unfortunate.

On the bright side, i've found that time really does heal! The more positive changes I make long-term, the easier it gets. Though I surely still have days where I feel the exact way you've detailed in your post, they are few and far between these days. Knock on wood!

biscottibody59 on 02/26/2013:
Your quotes above, "There is dealing with the hunger I sometimes feel when I walk away from a meal that "just didn't quite fill me up." "Another day of Less Food."

You should never leave a meal hungry, that is the kiss of death for your lifestyle change. If you continue being hungry, you will quit! Go buy some new potatoes or sweet potatoes for snacking on and eating after a meal. Eat an apple or two after your meal. If you're still hungry, eat some more. Don't add fat, oil or cheese to any of these potatoes. A sweet potato is perfection on its own in my book. You have to honor your hunger--it's there for a reason:-)

This sort of reminds me of all the women (always women on this particular site) who lose weight and then quit because their husband can't stand the change. Or their friends can't stand them being smaller than before. And they leave the site, discouraged. And if they come back, they come back having gained even more.

You have to do this for your health at the very least and everyone else can just handle it or not. Not easy. You're doing it!

Again, torturing yourself by white-knuckling it through hunger isn't necessary!

lolla on 02/26/2013:
Great insight! Funny that I was looking at this site about happiness yesterday and this guy was saying that we devote so much time with so many things all day but very few minutes to our inner peace, moments when we get totally quiet and realize our true nature is perfect, needs no fixing at all and that is what we are deep inside. http://www.brainpickings.org/index.php/2011/01/25/must-read-books-happiness/ If you have time take a look at the talk of book 4, Matthieu Ricard, I like what he said about training your mind to be less affected by what happens around you/other people's judgements about you. Anyway, thanks for sharing and making me think I am not alone in this journey!

niftyjack on 02/27/2013:
Thanks for sharing. And you're totally right about it being more than a physical struggle. In fact, I think the whole 'diet' thing is more a mental struggle than a physical one... well, at least for me. My body, once it got a taste of exercise and real food, is always ready to go. My brain, on the other hand, constantly gets stuck on, "I don't wanna. You can't make me. Leave me alone."

Have a good day. *FIGHT*!

We didn't stay for the chili cook off. Not because of my weigh-in, but she was tired and didn't want to stay. Had talapia fish instead of liver this week. Someone else posted that they were eating it and I wanted some ever since.

Put a whole hour in the gym downstairs, NASCAR was on and it was easier just to stay down there and let Darla stay upstairs and sleep on the couch.

I remember last Monday morning there were a lot of "Losers" on here. Ok, I'm gonna check who else is weighing in on Monday. I know a few but I don't want to leave anyone out. I'll write them down today.

You all have a good day.

Thank you for inquiring about my B-I-L Paul. He is weak and has severe headache and they are keeping him comfortable. He is still taking his chimo treatment for his lung cancer but he is finish with the radiation because it did nothing - he grew 3 more tumor on his brain. We are hoping he will make it to the birth of his first grandchild. We thought the date was the end of May but it is the end of June. I think that will keep him going and doing all he can possibly do. It is sad so young 67. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Does the 30 mins on the stairclimber = Sears Tower mean that's how far you went? Awesome job :)

You ate 1 Brazil nut?? That's some serious restraint! Congrats on your continued loss, keep on kicking butt!!

lolla on 02/25/2013:
Did you watch dr.oz? that is where I saw you only needed 1 brazil nut to fulfill some kind of daily requirement of something(I forgot what since they recommend so many things) so anyway, I have to tell you your progress is amazing!

Congrats on the loss! I don't think I've had tilapia, but I've eaten a lot of fish with names I don't remember...

Good Morning and thanks for your comment; I will be careful. Good luck on your weigh in tomorrow. You've made awesome progress (223 in Jan but 208 in Feb); what you're doing is working great! Pretty soon you'll be in ONEderland (in the 100s)!

Puddles on 02/24/2013:
Good luck with your weigh-in tomorrow. You are so close to your goal. Have a great day.

Your menu looks great! If you stay for the chili cookoff, just have small tastes of everyone's chili, you will still get to try them and won't blow the diet!! Have a great day!!

Puddles on 02/24/2013:
Graindart also has a weigh-in tomorrow. I can't remember who else is on the same schedule as we are.
