Dear Diary. Why is my belly still this big ? It's hard to suck in this much gut when pretty girls are around. I'll keep on doing what I have been these last few weeks. I know I feel better and maybe soon, things will start to look better too.

Darla's b-day tomorrow. Cheesecake from the Dr. Oz website, Dinner at EL Rancho (Her favorite, not mine) I'll get the chicken fajita with just a few tortilla chips. Movie after that. She wants to see a horror picture.

Well that's it for now. The orders are coming in and I gotta get moving. Have a great day.

Progress as of today: 12 lbs lost so far, only 21 lbs to go!

graindart on 01/25/2013:
I don't mind sauerkraut on a hotdog or fried with sausage and crusty baguettes, but I don't think I could eat 3 cups of it by itself. Good job on being so consistent daily.

legcramps on 01/25/2013:
Woohoo for horror pictures!!! My favorite :)

Everything takes time, man. Lots of water. Lots of moving. Lots of prayer. You can do this, keep doing what you're doing.

thenewMLE on 01/25/2013:
Dear OhioRaven, this is your body speaking. It took a long time for you to make our belly this big and it will take some time to reduce it again. I love the exercise and attention you are giving me and the food makes my heart and blood very happy. Keep it up and our belly will shrink and BTW, any girl only looking at our physical appearance is sorely short sighted.

Love the cheesecake choice!! Have a great birthday celebration and celebrate moderation!

Just42day on 01/25/2013:
Hope your wife enjoys her b'day tomorrow. Sounds like you're definitely catering to her favorites. What a great husband! Keep working your food plan. You're doing great!

Umpqua on 01/25/2013:
The birthday plans sound great, I'm sure your wife will have an excellent time! I agree with the ladies above, it will take time to reduce the belly - I know it has been my most difficult challenge! Just keep up with the excellent eating and maybe add in some increased exercise when you feel ready and you will definitely see results.

V on 01/25/2013:
I am a horror buff myself :) You guys going to see "Mama" by chance? If so you must let me know what you think of it..Hey you are making great strides to get healthy so your belly will shrink, I promise! Have a great weekend Raven!

I must say, you people are great. The birthday cake response has been great. All the websites I went to have a lot of flexibility and substitutes for ingredients.

Some of you would like to see Darla cutting into frosted Styrofoam. Frustrated, another year older, with a large knife in her hand. Me laughing. (I see problems with this).

I'm leaning toward a Cheesecake. Her favorite, and I'll be safe.

Hope everyone had a good day.

Progress as of today: 12 lbs lost so far, only 21 lbs to go!

Just42day on 01/24/2013:
Yeah, it's probably not a good idea to have Darla frustrated -- particularly when she has a knife in her hand... Do let us know what you ultimately make! Golf ball sized potatoes. How cute! Great job with exercise, too!

supercheese on 01/24/2013:
Have a good one!!!

Tangalyn~ on 01/24/2013:
MMMmmmmm cant go wrong with cheesecake!! have a wonderful day!!

legcramps on 01/24/2013:
LOL, I see problems with that too, now that I have a mental picture of a frustrated lady with a large knife. Cheesecake is a great alternative to this ;)

Umpqua on 01/24/2013:
Heh, knives and frustration are not a good combo. Cheesecake is an excellent choice and if you're not tempted by it that's great!

graindart on 01/24/2013:
When I was younger I despised the taste of cheesecake. Now I love it and would kill for a slice right now. If anyone wants to take me up on the offer, I take my cheesecake plain.

V on 01/24/2013:
You MUST take a picture of your cheesecake for us! I am sure she will be happy, BTW I am still chuckling about your donut cake idea :) Have a wonderful evening!

The day was just too busy to get away for 20min. of walking, but on the other end, I really didn't eat that much. (for me)Twice I had to get up from my BigSalad to fill orders that couldn't wait. Even threw part of it away. AND only ate half the pickle. I still find it hard to do this with popcorn(minibag). I've got some very good recipes to consider for Wifey's birthday cake. I was going to just make a regular box mix and cut a big hole in the center, so it kinda looks like a donut, only flat. (Half the calories, right ?) Anyway, I'll choose a website and let you all know Friday. Hope everyone has a great day.

Progress as of today: 12 lbs lost so far, only 21 lbs to go!

V on 01/23/2013:
Hahaha I actually like your donut cake idea LOL Glad you found a site with lots of other options, I am sure you will be creative :) Have a good day!

Just42day on 01/23/2013:
Idea for Wifey's b'day cake: Buy a 3-4 inch high piece of foam rubber available at fabric stores. Trace a pie pan on it and cut it in the size of a cake it. Frost it. It WILL look like a real cake. Wife has to be the one to cut it. (Knife will only bounce). Plus - no calories! :)

Umpqua on 01/23/2013:
The donut cake sounds like a contender, haha. I'm sure you will come up with something great for your wife's birthday!

thenewMLE on 01/23/2013:
Popcorn is addicting! You don't have to be hungry, but if there is popcorn in the bowl your brain just takes over and your hand will reach in and grab until it is all gone - and then you want to lick the bowl or the bag!!! I hope you find a recipe that you like for the cake. One hint that I picked up is that you can replace oil or butter (fats) with apple sauce and not change the texture of baked goods. So if it is fats you are trying to avoid, apple sauce works. If it is white flour you are trying to avoid, just don't even try to make a cake or a cookie - you will be very disappointed. For me, with low carbs, I have a sugarfree cheesecake recipe that is AWESOME and you top it with fresh strawberries or blueberries. I also have a recipe for Decadent Chocolate Almond Torte and Peanut Butter Mousse Pie. Both are sugar free. Let me know if you want any of the recipes! Have a great day!

Amaretto Cheesecake - sugar free

Emily A great sugar free version of my favorite dessert!!! INGREDIENTS

1 lb cream cheese scant 3/4 cups splenda 1 Tbs amaretto liquor 1 tsp almond extract 1 tsp vanilla 1 pinch salt 2 eggs Ready Made Graham cracker crust - small DIRECTIONS

FILLING:

Beat cream cheese and splenda at medium speed for two minutes. Add liqueur, extracts and salt, blend well. Add eggs one at a time, blending at low speed only until each is incorporated. Pour filling into crust and bake at 350° 25-30 minutes. When done, remove from oven, let stand 10 minutes. TOPPING: slice fresh strawberries and spoon over cheesecake or if you want more of a "syrup" with the fruit follow the following instructions.

1 Take a 2 pints of fresh strawberries, remove the tops and slice them into a bowl. Sprinkle them with a tsp. of Truvia. Cover and put in the refrigerator and stir to encourage the strawberries to make a syrup. 2 After cheesecake has cooled, topped with strawberry topping as it is served to prevent the cheesecake from becoming too soggy. NOTES

Top with fresh blueberries without adding any extra sugar for a nice summer treat! Source: Emily

LOL Just42day's idea is awesome... my Mom did that once for my uncle's birthday - she used styrofoam and my brother and I iced it.

He was sweating hard trying to cut into it... didn't want to make her feel bad since we ALL knew she wasn't a very good cook/baker. So funny!

lolla on 01/23/2013:
Thanks for the Welcome! Hoping you have a great day!

skinnygrlwithin on 01/23/2013:
I'm very interested to see what you come up with for a good dessert for her birthday. If you don't need to do a cake, and are ok with birthday ice cream I have a good recipe... peel bananas, freeze, blend with a little milk, yogurt, etc... whatever your blender needs to get it going... and that's it, banana ice cream. My bf adds peanut butter or fudge sometimes... but it's yummy, healthy, super easy... not a cake though. :( You could form it in the shape of a cake?

niftyjack on 01/24/2013:
The donut cake idea makes me think of bundt cake. The pan comes with the hole already, but it probably isn't the same.

Hungry all day ! I dunno. I just felt "Snacky", so I snacked on fruit and soup. I know I could have done a lot worse. Still sticking to my guns and staying off the burger and fries. Even soda pop. I just don't want soda pop any more since I've been drinking all this water. Tried the lemon herb tea. Liked it so much I had a 2nd cup. I'm cutting out decaf coffee. Only 1c. Yesterday. I think the hot coffee/tea helps keep me from snacking. Cold in the warehouse today. 6 degrees. Rehearsal after work. I gotta walk my 20minutes here. Hope everyone is good. I think its gonna be a good day.

Great job with healthy snacks and staying away from fries, burgers and sodas. You're doing so great! I'm really impressed with your commitment and consistency!

Umpqua on 01/22/2013:
LOL, yeah, I was pretty unhappy with myself about the M&Ms. I think I have mentally categorized them as "off limits" now! Great snack choices. I find that hungry days usually mean I'm gearing up for a loss. Keep up the excellent work!

getmebackto150 on 01/22/2013:
I was feeling the same way yesterday very snacky! Looks like you handled it pretty good!!

I am on board with umpqua... having a hungry day usually means i'm about to show a loss on the scale. You did a great job snacking on fruit and soup! I think it IS gonna be a good day ;)

I bet you will be in L size (opposed to x-lg) by the time you reach your goal weight! It's slow, I know..but, you're doing great and it WILL happen :)

V on 01/22/2013:
You did really good with the snacks and yes we all have our days that we are hungry all day long. I am sure it won't harm ya since you kept it healthy :) RYC I can't speak for others on the site that do the protein shake but I am working on building more lean muscle..The shake I consume for breakfast fuels the muscles as well as maximizing recovery from lifting weights.. The Pre bedtime shake is a slower acting protein, it is key to maintaining an anti-catabolic state and significantly decreases the protein breakdown so it protects the body from feeding off the lean muscle tissue while I sleep.. Anyhoo hope that you had a good day :)

biscottibody59 on 01/22/2013:
Down another pound--woo-hoo!

biscottibody59 on 01/22/2013:
RYC: Not fretting at all, to the contrary I'm exceedingly pleased. Not suggesting you read my entire diary, but the last three years (about) have been a challenge to say the least. Aging gracefully (specifically menopause) ain't for sissies, to paraphrase Bette Davis.

It's taken a lot of patience, questioning, practice and hard work to get to where I am and that won't change as I continue on that path. Every day's a new day, as the song goes!

The realage thing used to be about a 5 min thing when I first signed on to it years ago, now it takes a good long while to answer everything. And they could probably add a few things. It's a good little "go by" to see where one group of drs thinks we might improve our chances at good health. Nice that it's free:-)

ps thanks for your concern, I appreciate it:-)

I remember liking liver and fried onions when I was a kid. My mom would make it once every couple months and I liked it then. I last tried liver about 10 years ago, hated the taste, and can't see ever trying it again.

Just42day on 01/21/2013:
Congrats on your loss! I'm sure you'll see more as you're wonderfully consistent! Great job. Enjoy the liver -- it's one of my favorites!

legcramps on 01/21/2013:
My Grandma went through a time where she would order liver and onions everytime we would go out to eat. I think she did it just to creep me out. Obviously i'm not a fan, but to each their own! And tradition, I hear that. It's why I eat perogies and cabbage rolls at Grandma's ;)

McSalad (dropped the bomb),popcorn(minibag), BigPickle.

Broc/cheese potato, sourkraut, soup.

Cup of trail mix, Orange, Apple, grapefruit.

I shouldn't have bought the trail mix. Or the potato. I'm gonna start asking for a broccoli potato without the cheese, then add light ranch dressing. Hoping to get into the teens on the scale tomorrow. I won't be destroyed if I don't. Finally moved the elliptical trainer in front of the tv. GO RAVENS ! ! !

Dear Diary. This morning I felt my belt buckle move to a new position, a good position. One notch up. I didn't have to suck in my gut or force it in any way. It just "slipped" in there like it was supposed to be there. I told my self just yesterday that I wasn't gonna use fractions of food portions, and there I go eating only 1/2 a banana. My banana and yogurt is like my 4th meal of the day and I usually look forward to it. But I dunno, I just didn't want the other half. My snacking was way down too. Only a grapefruit before bed time. I hear it lowers my blood pressure and helps me sleep. And no almonds either. I can't remember who on this site brought up that I should try almonds but it was a great idea. And Thank You. I never go anywhere without a small bag of the m handy. Well that's all I can think of for now, dairy. Take care and thanks for the new belt loop.

As you can see, my meals are pretty much the same thing everyday. Boring, right? Well I really don't mind it. I kind of look forward to my planned meals. I've seen what "freestyle" eating can do to my body. I'm not entering 1/4c of this or 1/3c of that. When I eat beans in the morning its Always the sane 1/4c. Etc. Also; the big ass jug of water is the same big ass jug of water I start with everyday. (i think its 3/4 gallon).

Anyway I don't think of it as boring, I think of it as structured. When we go out its usually Tuesday and the same wendys stuff. Or a McSalad.

Wifey's birthday is coming up (Jan.26th), and we'll probably go to the dinner theater, which is a buffet. But I'm sure I won't be derailed by this.

To wrap it up, I like my new Repetitive, Dull, Common, Planned, Tired, Blase', Bland, Boring, Structured lifestyle.

Have a good day !

V on 01/17/2013:
LOL! Before reaching goal weight, my meals were pretty much the same every day too..Actually it still is pretty predictable, just a little more variety haha..Anyhoo I am a fan of structure so I hear what you are saying. Have a wonderful day :)

Just42day on 01/17/2013:
I think that's great that you enjoy the structure. Whatever works makes sense to me. Keep up the good work!

skinnygrlwithin on 01/17/2013:
I don't think it's plain or boring at all... I'm pretty much the same as well, same breakfast same snacks. I need structure as well, because I'm the same as you if it isn't consistent I start to veer off track.

As for your comment yesterday...yes it took me a long time realize it's how I feel that matters and not the scale...now to get back to feeling good!

graindart on 01/17/2013:
I'm a fan of structure in most things, but definitely not food. I don't like eating the same food more than once or twice in a week. However, eating the same food more often does make life easier and simpler with less prep work.

Umpqua on 01/17/2013:
I think whatever works best for you makes sense, and a repetitive scheduled definitely creates good, long-lasting habits. Have a good one!

getmebackto150 on 01/17/2013:
I agree with the above, having structure keeps you accountable and you know exactly what you are putting into your body. I think while you are trying to lose, eating mostly the same things with the occasional change is the easiest way to do it!!

thenewMLE on 01/17/2013:
The structure is a pattern and that's good. My girls had a swim coach that used to say practice does NOT make perfect - it makes permanence! (if you continue to "practice" something wrong, that doesn't make it right, it just makes it a habit)! So you are practicing good eating habits and enjoying the benefits. As I said the other day, planning and writing it down makes it a done deal for me so if you want to change up your routine a little, plan it on the weekend and shop and cook for it and commit it to writing for the week. I get stuck in a rut with breakfast because I have to grab it to run to work early but after reading other people's breakfasts, GrannieAnnie's porrage sounded good so I started doing steel cut oats and bring that to work to throw my fruit into. In fact, now that it is cold I should do that again! Anyway, I'm sure your new eating is making you feel better! Keep up the good work!

legcramps on 01/17/2013:
I love routines and schedules and lists! I always find during the week when i'm working, my days are much more structured and I manage to stick to healthy eating and exercise a lot more easily than I do on the weekends. It's all about finding out what works for you!

Thanks for dropping by my diary and offering encouragement, I appreciate it. I think I got all caught up in how long it's going to take to shed the last 25 instead of staying grounded in the here-and-now. Thanks for pushing me past that episode of self-pity! :)
