Good morning

My water was real good 14 glasses but I was a real bad bad bad girl with my food.  I just knew there was a bad bad bad girl somewhere in me. LOL  I just got the munchies last night and did not stop myself.  I really dont know why I do this just a few days before weigh-in but it is what it is.  No big deal not as if I am going to do this for a short while this is a process that is a life long thing and I intend to be on this for the long run until I attain my goal.  I am not going to send myself into a spin over evening munchies.  I am just going to try to do better today.  I can think of many other things that are far worst that could have happened to me - so a binge on a 1 to 10 is very low on that scale.

So today I do my exercises and I will report back on this.  I am actually looking forward to see how long it will take me to be able to do the full two videos.  I dont intend to push myself to the point of hurting myself but I see it as a new challenge.  Challenges are always a good motivator.

I hope you all have a great day.

Progress as of today: 30.6 lbs lost so far, only 59.4 lbs to go!

Good honest post :v)>

Puddles on 04/06/2013:
Is there any other way of being. If I don't keep it honest who am I kidding.

hollybelle on 04/06/2013:
Great comments, Puddles! You are so right. We are not always gonna fit those calories nice and neat in between a certain range. We are not always going to want to - it all balances - it all is good when we let it be. I ate a lot yesterday, too - even had a beer! But today - no trouble thinking about keeping back on track. I can relax and make good choices today. I read you are retired. I hope to be able to quit work in two years. I work in Health Insurance so I may be out of a job sooner than later with healthcare reform. I may go to selling Senior products - Medicare Supplement, Part D and Medicare Advantage, etc. if I need to leave the agency I am asociated with. I would work for myself, most likely if I do that. Whatever I do next I want to have more fun at work. What did you do before you retired, if you don't mind me asking??

Puddles on 04/06/2013:
I worked for our Housing Minister - Fed. Gov. I was fortunate to be able to retire real young 44 after 28 yrs of service. I am now 60 so retirement has been very sweet. I was fully pensioned early retirement with a penalty at age 50. We do have to take into account that my husband passed real young and that added to the possibility of retiring early. I benefitted from a lot of his benefits and still do.

grannyannie on 04/06/2013:
Good attitude! My weakness is night time snacking as well. I start telling myself why I shouldn't do it, it works more often than not.

Puddles on 04/06/2013:
Last night was definitely not a night I could talk myself out of it LOL

grannyannie on 04/06/2013:
We all have nights like that!

horn_of_plenty on 04/07/2013:
hi puddles! nobody's perfect, but we can try to do our best and learn from mistakes. don't beat yourself up about the food, you will learn and do better next time! that's how i roll, anyways. i am going to prevent weight gain and maybe even loose weight for the rest of my leg recovery...i actually found a pool to join and i will even take lessons in May!

Weight: 249.4

Just got back from all my errands - I did not think it would take me 4:30 hrs to get everything done.  I do admit I am tired out.  So much walking - that will be my workout for today.  I am contemplating an afternoon nap.  Retirement is wonderful.  Anything and everything can always wait for another day.  LOL  I might think about doing a little bit of the exercises this evening but I will see how it goes.

 Good morning

Water a little low only 8 glasses and my food on track just had more yogurt than I usually do.  I figure it could have been much much worst.  Not going to worry about 0%fat yogurt.  Right.

I feel good today.   I thought my arms or shoulders would hurt and they dont so that mean I can do more of that exercise.  Maybe I can push myself just a little bit more and add a few minutes to my workout.  That will be later today.

I have to go out again today - we are having a sunny day and there is snow forecast for tomorrow - I have to get my stuff all done today.  I ordered some stuff and need to pick up in a  neighbouring town.  Again grocery store sure wish I could just order off the internet but then that would make me a total hermit.

Will post later to let you know how my workout went.  Hope you guys all have a good day and a good weekend for those that will not be on this weekend.

Hi me again I just did my exercise I was only able to do 3 1/2 min of the 7 min of the arm vedio and did 11 min of the 46 min walking vedio.  It is a starts.  can you ever feel your shoulders and neck in the arms video and what really killed me in the walking one is when the speed goes up could only take about an extra 2 min at the high speed walking.  Tomorrow I will try to increase even if it is just an extra min. on each one it is a great improvement from doing nothing.  Thank you all for your support and suggestions on videos.                                                          Good morning

Water 12 glasses and food on track but was extremely hungry for protein yesterday so I had more protein.

I did all my errand again yesterday because they are calling for snow again today.  Grocery store - gas - paint store.  I also had to get my plates for my car since I got older last months - oops I was late getting my plates (I think most of you call these tags).  So a lot of running around and did not get to my exercises but today it is on the schedule.  Looking forward to see how I will do.  Really not putting any expectation on it because it will be whatever it will be.

I hope you are all doing good - Life is good.  I have a roof over my head - food in the house - and my health is good - and a lot of good friends.  Have a great day.

Great job on the exercise! Congrats on accomplishing this, and if you go a little longer tomorrow - EVEN MORE AWESOME :)

grannyannie on 04/04/2013:
You'll be able to do a bit more every day. Are you doing the arms video that I posted the link to? I got serious muscle burn the first few times I did it. Have a great day!

Puddles on 04/04/2013:
The arm video was from V on my post a few days ago and the other one was from Holly on my post also a few days ago. Looked at them all and picked these two to start with. Thank you for your support.

Umpqua on 04/04/2013:
Excellent work! You will eventually build up to more time and reps - slow is the best way to go!

You go girl! I am amazed at your great attitude and dedication. You are a winner!

grannyannie on 04/04/2013:

yes it is.

Good Morning

Good day water on track and food on track.

I have to thank all of you for your advice and suggestions yesterday.  I did a lot of research yesterday and made a few decisions as to what to add to my routine.  V suggested a great video and I will attempt that exercise video today or at least attempt to do part of it if I cannot keep up with it.  I will push myself as far as I feel comfortable with.  I figure a little bit every day and I might just get to the point where I can do it all.  A little is better than nothing is my way of thinking.  I will keep up with my step exercise for cardio about 10 to 15 minutes a day.  Unfortunately I cannot do it consecutively but with time I might just get there.  Determination and persistence is all I need.

I think this is about all for me today.  I start a new phase and look forward to reporting on it tomorrow.  Hope you all have a wonderful day.  I have sun today and the snow has really gone down.  Thursday forecast is rain or snow for here.  LOL  It will not leave us alone.  Hopefully it will be rain.  But it is cool.

Puddles on 04/03/2013:
Thank you I looked it up and added it to my bookmarks. I think I can do that maybe not as fast and maybe the kicks a little bit limited but I will certainly give it a good try. Will let you know in my posts on how it turns out.

legcramps on 04/03/2013:
A little certainly is better than nothing! You can do this :)

RYC, you're welcome :) Hey just do your best and as I mentioned Tracy has a beginner's 3 minute class if the 7 minute one is too intense, you can also take breaks between the moves.. Hope your day went well :)

Puddles - Tuesday Apr 02, 2013

Good morning

I know I am doing OK on my plan but I would love to shake it up a bit and not quite sure what to do.  I do know that the large losses are not necessarily the important things but it sure seems to be minimal lately.  If anybody has any idea about shaking it up - it would be welcomed.  I realize that the exercise stuff is rather limited but I have started to do some exercise but I do not wish to stress my knee at all just in case.  It was way too painful when I injured it and am scare of hurting it again.  I have looked up on the internet for full videos of exercise and I follow and do the ones I can and if I cant I just repeat until another one comes up that I can do.   The duration is never a long period of time but I repeat it several times a day maybe giving me 10 to 15 minutes a day.  I know it is not much but I have to go according to what my body will let me do.

The food part I would love to introduce new stuff not that I am getting tired of what I eat just a change.  Maintenance yes a little bit of white stuff but not much and then two weeks of plan - no white stuff - I have not had sugar in almost 3 months - the bad carbs are really bad for me and the fats are kept low.  If anybody as any dishes - meal in a dish recipe  - that would be welcomes.  It is mostly for the dinner meal and not the breakfast and lunch and snacks those are pretty easy.

Well that is about all.  Hope I have not tired your ears too much with my rambling.  Talk to you guys later.

PS also cooking for one makes its a little bit boring.

In a medium pot: 1/2c steel cut oats 1/2c quinoa or Teff 1/2c long grain brown rice 1/4c Lentils 4and 1/2c water Rapid boil, stir 2min. Shut off burner and cover. Let sit for 40min.

Large pot, brown 1Lb ground turkey 1big onion 3broccoli crowns 3 tbsp olive oil SeaSalt 1can tomato paste 1can spinach 1can blackbeans 1can greenbeans (drained and cut) 2cans diced tomatoes Add the medium pan stuff. Too thick ? Add some tomato juice or more water. And you got soup. You can change the ingredients any way you want. I make this big pot every Sunday and you'll see where I have it mostly twice a day. Good Luck.

Puddles on 04/02/2013:
Thank you will try soup.

Umpqua on 04/02/2013:
I have gone extremely low carb several times, cutting out sugars and all the white stuff. I have some great recipes (a whole cookbook, it's by Dana Carpender I believe) and unfortunately none are posted here. I've also found some good stuff on the Atkins message boards. I know that's not what you're following, but they do have some good low carb - no sugar recipes.

Puddles on 04/02/2013:
Will look up Dana cook book on line. Thank you.

grannyannie on 04/02/2013:
Yes, do be careful with your knee. You can still burn calories by using your arms - dumbbells, etc. It's not cardio but it's something.

Puddles on 04/02/2013:
I will be careful Annie with my knee. Thank you.

skinnygrlwithin on 04/02/2013:
I don't know what's around where you live, but I highly recommend finding a pool and swimming. It's GREAT cardio, you work muscles you didn't even know you had, AND very little chance if any to hurt your knee again. If there's a college near you that has a pool I'm pretty sure you'd be able to use that for fairly cheap. YMCA's also have pools but I hear they're somewhat expensive.

Puddles on 04/02/2013:
I have tried the swimming and it is hard on my knee it is the resistance of the water actually makes it turn the wrong way sometimes and I hurt my knee - cannot turn it outward. Thank you

legcramps on 04/02/2013:
How difficult is it for you to walk? I don't really know what kind of exercises you're doing now, but adding even 15 minutes of walking each day would definitely help out. And if you can't do that, I agree with grannyannie in that you could do a lot of workouts only using your upper body. You could try pushups against the wall as an alternative to doing them on the floor, also with legs hip-width apart and knees slightly bent, air punches will get your heart rate up.

Puddles on 04/02/2013:
I do cardio walking on spot do side steps and do it as fast I can taking care of not twisting my knee - of course not as fast as the video but it is still exercise. I can walk but I always have to be careful not to twist my knee. I cannot do sit ups no push ups cannot get down on my knee cannot bend my knee as much as I use to. Cannot kick things like that.

legcramps on 04/02/2013:
If you try the pushups against the wall, you're not using your legs at all except to keep you upright :) also, if you can't do the air punches while standing, you could try them just sitting on a chair. There was a man on the biggest loser that I remember had knee issues and used this method to keep losing weight because he couldn't do a lot of the other workouts the others were doing. I strongly suggest this if you are looking for ways to increase your exercise without harming your knee. Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

Puddles on 04/02/2013:
Thank you will try that.

V on 04/02/2013:
You can also do a sitting weight routine, even if it is just bicep curls and overhead presses, excellent suggestions by legcramps too! There is also a 7 minute arm routine you could try sitting as well or you could stand (if you can? not sure how mobile you are) As far as food goes there are alot of sites that has low carb/scarsdale type recipes, I follow a pretty low carb/ low fat/clean regimen, thenewMLE as well, i think I can speak for both of us as far as being happy to share recipes..BTW did you know there are hundreds of recipes posted on the forum page here on DD? I bet you can find alot of new ideas there..Anyhoo Back with the 7 minute arm routine in a sec, Have a great evening :)

V on 04/02/2013:
Here is the 7 minute routine, she also has a beginner's one if this is too intense, This may look a bit odd but it is VERY effective, just ask Annie

Tracy Anderson rocks!!

hollybelle on 04/03/2013:
You may want to check out Leslie Sansone "Walk off the Pounds" on You Tube. She has a 1, 2, 3 and 5 mile version and it's INDOORS not outside. You could start off with as little or as much of the first one as you want. It's walking in place and stepping side to side and then adds in arms. Very gradual. See what you think! Let us know!

Good morning

I had 12 glasses of water yesterday and my food was good. Yes I had a small loss last week.  Not much but all is good does not matter how much as long as it is going in the right direction.

I have the pickles yesterday and found they really make me want more water - must be salty of something about them.

I forgot to tell you I also picked up a sweet potatoe yesterday and I will be cooking some of it today.  I have not had sweet potatoe in a long time.

The weather here is rainy but very mild and the snow is really melting away.  As far as I am concerned it could rain for a full week as long as the snow melts I am happy.

I dont have much else to say except I wish you all a very Happy Easter for those who are celebrating Easter.

Talk to you later.

Happy Easter, Franny.

sleepyRN on 03/31/2013:
Happy Easter! Thank you for welcoming me back. I see we have similar weight goals. As for the pickles, I'm sure the extra thirst stems from the salt. Your blood is overloaded with sodium, and it compensates by telling you to drink water to dilute it. I myself love pickles. When I was a kid, I'd get in trouble for drinking the pickle juice lol. I'm with you on the snow. I can't wait for that Spring feeling :) Have a good day. I look forward to reading up on your entries.

grannyannie on 03/31/2013:
A loss is a loss. It's the right direction! I think pickles do have a lot of salt. Love sweet potatoes! Have a great day, Fran.

Good Morning

Water on track but only 8 glasses not up to my max. yet.  Food is good.

Tomorrow I weigh-in for my end of month total.  It will certainly be interesting.  I really do not feel much changes in my weight but the scale will be the judge of that.  Actually anything would be good.  At this point it seems to be more important to me not to binge and to eat healthier than I did before I started.  The insanity of the food prior to my starting was just so out of hand.  I have accepted the fact that it will just take whatever time it will take.  I do not want to do the radical diet that makes it impossible to hold on to it.

I have to go out today and get some stuff again at the grocery store.  It seems I am always running out of stuff.  I will be buying PICKLES today - Raven's secret ingridient.  LOL I am sure going through veg. and fruit like crazy.  I would rather be going through those than other stuff - believe me.

OK guys I wish you all a good day.

grannyannie on 03/30/2013:
Good for you on the veg and fruit! Yea, you can't get to your goal overnight. If only we could lose as fast as we can put it on, eh?!

You might want to use waist measurements as well as the scale to judge how much you are losing/shrinking.

Puddles - Friday Mar 29, 2013

Good morning

I am back to my 10 glasses of water and my food is good.

It is good to get back to my routine.  I was feeling a little bit off balance physically.  I dont like water and I can certainly feel it when I dont have enough of it now.  It is a necessity now for me to feel that my system is on track.

My plan for today is to do some work til about 1:00 pm because that is when I start drinking my water.  I know I have to sit and start the water process because if I wait any longer I will get away from it again.  So still cleaning and moving kitchen stuff.  I can't believe how dirty dishes get when you dont use them. LOL - You have to wonder why keep them if you dont use them.  I have some pieces that where wedding gifts to my Mom on her wedding day.  I just cant bring myself to get rid of things because they have memories attached to it.  I know that they will all end up in the garbage once I pass but for me they are important.  So I will clean them and put them back in there so that I can look at them and go down memory lane.

I am planning to have a curry, shrimp, onions, veg, on a bed of rice (l cup) for dinner tonight.  It is one of my favorite food.  I am on maintenance this week so rice is on the list about twice a week.  I am looking forward to finding those noodles to try them out.  That could replace the rice if I enjoy them and also guilt free food - how wonderful that would be.

I hope you all have a Fantastic Good Friday.

Talk to you tomorrow.

I have tons of dishes/glasses that don't get used, but I 'might' use them in the future. LOL. Your dinner sounds yummy!

Mmmm... Your dinner sounds delicious!!! Let me know what you think of the noodles, I LOVE them! I'm curious to see if you can find them in the store, I'd be shocked if you cannot!

Umpqua on 03/29/2013:
That curry sounds great! I also use quinoa, bulghur and other grains with my curries and stir fries for variety.

Weight: 249.8

Good morning guys

My water was low yesterday 7 glasses and food is good.

I did too much again.  Just got carried away with cleaning and moving stuff around.  My routine is suffering because of these changes.  I am late at begining to drink my water so I get  off the routine.   Dinner is getting way too late.

Today I am doing nothing and getting my routine back on track.  I dont feel as good when I disrupt my routine.  It is not a guilty thing it is just not feeling right - physically not good.  I never thought that not having all my water woud be so noticeable.  (my spelling is really bad today- sorry)

I have to go out today and get a few thing at the grocery store since the stores will be closed Friday.  I am running low on all the good stuff.

I looked up the 0-cal noodles yesterday they sure sound interesting - I will have to order on line because they are not available in this area.  Amazon sells them but of course I have to buy a case - sure hope they are good.  It seems to be all in the preparation with these noodles - actually they are a no cook noodle and they have a smell.  I have looked at a lot of reviews and there is quite a few good ideas.  It is certainly worth trying - on my scarsdale it is not allowed anything white or carbs. and these have neither.   This would certainly be a bonus for me.

OK guys I wish you all a terrific Thursday.

Progress as of today: 30.2 lbs lost so far, only 59.8 lbs to go!

Mornin' Frannie. I'm gonna get some some of these noodles...somehow.

getmebackto150 on 03/28/2013:
Are they shiratake noodles?? I eat the tofu shiratake noodles, they are slightly higher with 20 calories per serving and they are a bit of an acquired taste, but I eat them with roasted veggies and "alfredo" which is 2T low fat cream cheese and 1T parmesan cheese, for a filling, nutrient dense, low calorie meal... They do have a fishy smell when you open the bag, but if you rinse them well and boil for a few minutes I promise it goes away!!

Puddles on 03/28/2013:
Yes that is exactly what I was talking about. Can you buy them at the store. I will have to order off the net.

getmebackto150 on 03/28/2013:
I buy them at the local grocery store... They have them at all of them here. They are located in teh refridgerated vegetarian section with the tofu, and wonton wrappers...

Puddles on 03/28/2013:
Never thought of looking in that area of the store. thank you

I'm the same way with my routine - it's so important for me to stay in check. I'll have to check out these noodles, sounds interesting!

grannyannie on 03/28/2013:
Once you start drinking a lot of water, your body seems to need it. Happened to me.

Changing my routine throws me off as well.

liza36 on 03/28/2013:
The noodles sound interesting. Let us know if you like them when you find them.

V on 03/28/2013:
Once you rinse the noodles the odor will be gone and YES you can cook them just like pasta or stir fry..They also have a rice version of them.. Hope ya had a good evening!
