Good morning all

My day was perfect yesterday.

My water was perfect yesterday even had 10 glasses.

My evening was a disaster.  Pizza got on my brain could not shake it off and temptation won.  I am so angry at myself.  I have to find something to actually keep me busy during the evening or find a mild sleeping pill to knock me out around 9:00 pm LOL LOL .

Ok now that I went to confession I can start over today.  

I will keep my food plan today.

I will drink my water today.

I will not overeat in the evening that is my pledge to myself.

It will certainly be interesting to see how much damage I have done to my weigh-in on Monday.  Time will tell.

Ok guys I will sign off and will behave today.

Hey, I have been drinking hot herbal tea and eating a nice juicy grapefruit around 8:00. I KNOW this puts me on a sleepy mood. By 9:00 I'm done. The hot herb tea makes my stomach thinks its getting something warm and filling. The grape fruit filles my stomach with fiber and It's KNOWN to lower your blood pressure. I just can't stay awake after this one, two punch :v)

Years ago, while trying to lose weight, I'd occasionally fall off my plan and over-indulge. Afterwards, I'd be consumed with guilt and would berate & criticize myself to the point I'd give up (convincing myself I was weak-willed & destined to fail). These days, when I have an unplanned slip, I don't give it more power than it deserves. I immediately forgive myself and hit the reset button!

Over the past ten or so years, I've shed nearly 180 pounds. The ONLY way I was able to stay on track was to give myself permission to indulge, routinely. For example, every couple weeks, I will have a day where I allow myself to eat whatever I please. If I tried to stay on my plan last night and ended up attacking a pizza, I'd simply say, "Ok Lisa, let's consider that you're FREE day, now move on!"

That's worked well for me. My weight loss plan doesn't include perfection. Instead, it allows me to have occasional slips. This results in my not feeling deprived and I forgive myself much more easily when I do fall short of the mark.

I usually have some berries and cut up veggies to snack on at night with a bit of dip and a bit of salt. If I close my eyes it's like having chips. hahahahaha Hang in there. Make a big pot of soup with a ton of veggies and trust me you will be so full you will not want anything else. Have a good weekend. you can do it! :)

Only a bump on the road, this journey is no smooth sailing we all know that. you can totally do this!You lost 16 pounds already, try to pick that up at a store, it is a lot!!! I believe in you.

Good morning - Happy February

Love February - nice and short - Spring is just around the corner - Valentine's Day is coming.  

I drank all my water again - it was good - I keep a gallon of cold water in the fridge and just keep on refilling my glass once it is empty.  I only use a small glass of 8oz and that way I can just count them off.  I am still not a fan of water but it is a must and I am getting it done.  I might get to enjoy it at one point but for today it is still difficult but doable.

My food was good yesterday.  My 9:00pm munchy problem was still there - I think it is just a bad habit - not to sure it is hunger - probably not.  Living alone gives you a lot of time to think about food or other stuff.  The TV ads of course do not help.  Every 5 minutes there is a food ad. 

It would be so nice if I could do some kind of exercise.  I do all my house stuff and run my errands but I always have to take into consideration my knee (not to much standing - not to much walking).  I do everything in stages - cleaning - taking garbage out - everything with a break in between.   Mentally it is an adjustment - who takes a break after doing their dishes or after making their bed or dusting.  It is my reality because if I push it too much I am flat on my ass and ice on my knee.  Patience is definitely a virtue.  My body is getting old but my brain thinks I am still 29. LOL LOL   Well enough of my wooooowwwws.  I have had my pitty party for the day get over it - move on.

Good morning all

We have sunshine today - cool but that is OK.  I can always put up with the cold if the sun is shining.

I had a good day yesterday and I am proud to report that I was able to put 8 glasses of water away.  I decided to use the cable guy attitude "get her done" so by 1:00 pm I had 6 glasses done and did the remaining two after super.  That is a major accomplishment.  I think I will do the same today.  I did take some of your advice yesterday and had one glass as soon a I got up this morning.  

I had the munchies last evening and seems to be always at the same time.  I have to come up with a plan for that now.  9:00 pm - too early to go to bed - to late to have something because I will not be up an additional 3 hrs for it to digest properly.  I had fruit with cottage cheese and I will see what the results of that gives.  I could have had something lighter but I know myself it would not have been enough and I would have been back in the fridge again.  When I compare what I use to use for a munchy prior to starting my diet this is a great improvement LOL LOL - actually anything and everything was not off limit.  Crazy eating.

So that was yesterday and I am excited about today.  Everyday is a new challenge.  I have decided to reward myself once a month at the end of each month with something that I have been wanting to buy.  I am not talking food but object.  (the scale does not count in this reward object - that was a necessity).

RYC: I am in Canada as well, and the temp here is -48C with windchill. That's colder than where you are, my friend ;) much colder.

Good morning all

We are having such an unusual week weather wise - snow/rain/freezing rain/cloudy - you got to wonder if the sun will ever come back.  Making me feel a little bit of cabine fever.  Do have to go out today good or bad weather got to break out of this place LOL

Having a good day - the only thing I have to concentrate on doing is getting more water into my diet.  I am not a big drinker to start off with.  I dont know why but I drink because I know I have to drink not because I feel I need to drink.  My friends do not understand that.  Now that I am in my second week I will start putting that into the plan.  It will give an additional boost to my plan.  They say that cold water burns off calories because the body has to warm up the water and while it does that the body burns more calories.  It makes sense to me.  Will see if this has made any changes next week at weigh-in.  Every week I try to add or substract something from my plan so that my system does not time to adjust and settle in.

We're having similar weather here in New England. I'm grateful that at least it has warmed up a bit! RE the water, I think that as your body adjusts to a cleaner eating regime you will start to feel thirstier and want water? That's what happened to me when I first changed my eating habits. Although I've always enjoyed water and I know others struggle with it. Have a good one!

There are a lot of theories out there about how water can benefit us, who knows which ones to believe and which ones to disregard. Regardless, water is good for us. Fact. I go through phases with water - like it, hate it, love it, could go without it, etc. During my 'off' phases, I like to switch things up by adding crystal light or some other type of low-cal sweetener (sometimes even just a lemon) to water so that I don't feel like all i'm ever drinking is water.

Hi, Puddles. I like the goals that you set for yourself. As for water, I used to NEVER drink it. Only coffee and soda pop. If someone would ever offer me a bottle of water I'd throw up my hand and say "never touch the stuff", but since I started using DD I ALWAYS drink water. If someone like me can do it, I'm betting that you can too. If I were you I'd be good to myself, go down to the Walmart, a buy yourself a Big Ass water jug with a handle that you can fill with tap water and carry it with you where ever you go. It's an investment in yourself,You're worth it :v)

Geez I am not a drinker either....I have to force it down my throat...What I do is get some mio and drink a ton once I do that. I also write labels on my bottles for every hour I know I need to drink,. Have a good one!

Not senior moment at all! http://www.kraftbrands.com/mio/. Its flavor enhancers for water. 0 calorie. I never tried it until my husband came home with it one day and I was hooked. I can literally drink 100 ounces a day, but only with having some flavor lol.

Cold water def kick starts the metabolism, especially first thing in the morning. You don't have to waterbomb either, just try drinking 8 ozs every hour upon waking up, maybe that would help..I hope it warms up for you and yes I will send sunshine your way :) Have a great evening!!

RYC you are welcome and might I add that a few of the flavored water enhancers has hidden sugar in them that can def throw a monkey wrench in you losses. Crystal lite is one of them.. I used to drink it ALOT before I reached goal my weight.Drank it all day long, ate healthy only to find minimal or no weight loss..My Doctor was the one who advised to drink pure H2o or limit it to no more than 2 a day.. I decided to ditch it altogether and the lbs came off quicker..

Good morning all - Tuesday January 29, 2013

I have been inspired by all your comments this morning and your writeups.  This really helps me to start my day on the right foot.  This shows me that although we are all different and our journeys all take different turns we all struggles at just keeping it all together.  The simple struggles of life.

Yesterday was absolutely wonderful - my food was good and of course my weigh-in was good.  Looking forward to my second week on this plan.  Plus there will be no scale suprises  - LOL - LOL - Next weigh-in is scheduled for next Monday morning.  I am hopeful and feel good about it.

Hi guys again

Last week when I started, one of my friends who regularly ways himself at the doctor's scale told me my scale was off by quite a bit.  So - I purchased another scale and it was delivered today UPS after I had already posted my first message (he was right it was off).  I still think that I went down but cannot be sure exactly how much.  I made a decision to just add what  I lost from the other scale to my morning weigh-in and make that my new starting point.

I dont feel any worst for that because I know that I have gone down and it is all part of the process.  I am happy that it will be more accurate from now on.  After all I think that my old scale after 20 yrs of use has been good to me and deserves to retire lol lol.

Thought I would keep myself honest and post this.

Good Morning all

Today is the big day.  Weigh-in 234 - lost 16 pds. I am sure that the first week is a lot of  water retention.  I must admit it is satisfying and very encouraging.  I think that what helps is that I believe in this plan for me.  We all have our own system that we know works for us.  We certainly know what food is bad for us.  I really do not process the white stuff well, now if I was really smart I would try to stay away from it but it is my weak point and once I start eating it - I just want more and more and more.

Thank you for being there it is a important part of this process knowing that I can come on and write - vent - or just chat.  I would list my food  but it is just what the diet says to eat for each day and you guys can see it on the internet. I do play around with the vegetables and the meat (substitutes) but that is about as much as I can do in that plan.  I just make it more to what I feel like eating that day so no big variation possible.  The only I can say is that what is on there are things that I love to eat.  I am fortunate about that.

Good morning all

Sure looking forward to the weather warming up.  It is too cold to even go outside - plus having to clean my car off of snow - think I will stay in today.

Yesterday was another good day.  Looking forward to my weight-in tomorrow.  I feel like I have gone down but at this point pretty hard to see anything happening except that I feel better.  My food is good and I am working on mixing and experimenting with different foods but at the same time keeping away from the no no list of items.  Tomorrow will be the judge of whether I am working it right or wrong. Actually anything will be better than what I was doing before.  I just want to stop my cravings of sugar and starchy stuff.  It was getting out of hand.  I also did not like the effects they were having on me - the highs and the lows - being tired and lazy - wanting to do nothing just vegetate.  I have more energy now.

Ok that is enough of my stuff - happy to have somebody to vent to.  Have a nice day and will check in tomorrow with the surprise of what I have accomplished. lol

Thank you for your good wishes.  I have used it before  and return to it on and off.  I lost 143 pds on this diet in 9 months.  It seems to fit my lifestyle and my way of eating.  I have maintained it.  Its just that I was hurt last summer and ended up sitting with my leg up and ice on my knee for about 6 months and I have packed on pounds.   You know - eat - sleep - sit - watch TV.  Now that I am able to move with no pain but still have to be carefull with my movements decided to go back to what I know instead of trying something else.  No exercise right now is possible - doing my groceries is as much exercise as I can take.  I have added a few things that are not on the diet but I still stay away from all the white stuff - pasta potatoes rice flour etc and I do not use any sugars of anykind plus I really watch my carb intake.  Will keep in touch.

Sounds like you have a solid plan in place. Yes, the white stuff is nasty. I struggle with it but have been doing better with limiting it. It's surprising what a huge difference that makes!

You are right in the limiting of it. Not always an easy task. I find that having it makes me crave more of it. It is the same with sugar. It is a work in progress. Some days are great others not so great and some down right UGLY. lol

Hi - First time on this site.  Just getting started.  I started my Scarsdale diet on Monday and made it to Friday.  I feel good about that.  It is not my first time on this plan I have used it 30 yrs ago and it worked well for me but in the last few years a few pounds have come back.  Time for me to get back to it.

Good morning all. I had a great night of sleep. I am looking forward to Monday morning for my one week weight in. My scale seems to be off according to one of my friends. I have ordered my new scale - about time this one is about 20 yrs old and it could possibly be getting a little bit tired lol lol. My initial weight in could be off will be able to tell once the other one comes in. I know I have lost some weight because of how I feel - so stay tuned will report those figures as soon as I get them.

My food has been good. It is easy when what I am eating is so good. I do spend a lot of time paying special attention to what I plan for the day even if they tell you exactly what to eat. I invent new ways of cooking and spicing it up and combining them together. A lot of it has to do with what it looks like - we do eat with our eyes. It has to be appealing. Nothing to complain about and with it really make a difference if I did lol.

Hi and welcome!

I did that diet in about 1982 (or thereabouts) and it was just awful. It's pretty much a starvation diet. It puts you into ketosis wherein you lose water weight. The minute you go back to eating your normal way, you gain again. It sort of sounds like you may be modifying it to your taste, which is good. I don't mean to discourage you when you're starting out--it's crucial to feel good about things right out of the blocks in my opinion.

Just know that mine is only one opinion and it's worth about 2cents:-) Nevertheless, there are other better, less drastic diets to try in my opinion.
