Just came in for a quick note here---does anyone know what happened to Breakaway? I guess it took me long enough to notice she was missing {{red face}} I am just blaming it on being so busy here and the holidays. Breakaway, if you're out there, come on back!! You ARE missed, I'm sorry it took me awhile to notice.

So I'm doing not-so-well but that will end RIGHT NOW!! And I feel terrible. This kind of stuff has got to stop. I had a great break with the weigh-in this week and now I'm trying to mess it up!! Bean and cheese burritos. I like them so much at happy hour I've even tried making them at home today. Yuck, I hope I never see one again! (well, at least not until next week, hehehe) How stupid can I get?! Enough said! No exercise again today--except walking around WalMart this morning and not much of that. I feel like I haven't exercised in so long and really it's only been 3 days off. I'm going to veg tonight--we're probably going to watch Bruce Almighty that my sister bought (I can't understand why people buy movies, I only like to watch them once usually), we watched Sea Biscuit last night at Mom's and everyone liked it, although the beginning kind of dragged and was hard to figure out if you didn't read the book. Anyways, exercise tomorrow for sure!

Okay, I hope you've all had a good day---I haven't! My own fault. Take care and I'll see ya tomorrow.

UPDATE: Well, well, well, I guess I'd better stop coming in here. After all, I am not among the "perfect ones" who have seen fit to gang up on us who are having problems at times. I've kept at least 35 pounds off for the 3-plus years that I have been coming here but I am far from perfect and still struggling. I was once down more that 10 pounds more than I am now so I guess I should just count myself as a failure! I thought the DD was a support group but I guess I've been wrong all these years. Sorry!

legcramp on 12/18/2003:
I have a Tanita scale and I really enjoyed being able to measure my body fat and my weight whenever I wanted! I don't do the body fat thing as much anymore (i've had the scale for well over 2 years now), but it's nice to have just in case I ever get curious about it! Take care and have a great week!

curvy shar on 12/19/2003:
Breakaway said she would be really busy during December but would be back in January.

Hope your holidays are great!

Hello, hello, good morning, everyone at the DD!! Here I am, it's almost 7am and I'm sitting here with hair color on my hair already. And did I say how much I hate doing the old hair color thing? The longer my hair gets, the harder it is to do myself. Oh, well. WW scale said I lost a pound!! I couldn't believe it! Since I was weighing in the afternoon and wearing jeans, I thought for sure it would show a gain, ya know? And I really don't think I deserve it, I haven't really done that well lately. Just goes to show you, you can't trust those darn scales, right? I don't think Mom cared much for the meeting and said she couldn't hear much of it. And she doesn't want to join right now anyway, maybe after the holidays. But I don't think she will. Oh, well....I get so much from the meetings, I don't know, I just feel great being with people who are sort of just like me, ya know? I always come out feeling like my motivation is all renewed. But maybe next week I'll go back to the Tuesday morning meeting, there are a lot more people there. I asked my sister if she would like to go with me to a meeting but she said she's going to try Atkin's again after the first of the year. She's like me, she never can get past the first week on that diet. She wants to lose 10 pounds real fast. Sheesh!

Well, yesterday was sort of a free day but I'm back at it this morning. Except no exercise again. I just had to get my hair colored and after breakfast and my hair is dry, I'm going out for a little shopping again. I got a nice $10 coupon in the mail yesterday from J.C.Penney's so I must go spend that! And I'm going to look for one of those Tanita scales that shows your body fat and weight at Sam's and I want to get one of those shiatsu massagers for DH, maybe at Penney's. And I'm going to rent Seabiscuit at Blockbuster's too so we can all watch it over at Mom's after we all go out to happy hour at Macayo's. Okay, gotta run, I only have 3 more minutes before I have to wash this gunk out of my hair. Take care and have a great day. See ya's later.

curvy shar on 12/16/2003:
We got one of the Tanita scales. It seems to work fairly well, but it certainly was a shock the first couple of times! I like that I can see my bodyfat going down...down...down...even during times when the scale isn't showing a loss. Happy shopping!

pezzy34 on 12/16/2003:
hey! Just a suggestion! While you are out shopping park WAY away from the mall, walk an extra lap around the mall before leaving... squat down to look at a lot of stuff instead of just bending over and you can easily work in 20 minutes of exercise just like that! While you are dyeing your hair you can do squats, lunges, even pushups. so there is ALWAYS room for exercise if you get creative about it! I am a stay at home mom and busy all the time, so I have to get inventive to fit it in... my squats get done while I'm folding laundry... I just slow down and do one single piece at a time to get in at least 20 squats just from doing that! :) Have a great day!

malh on 12/16/2003:
I hate doing the hair thing too. Last time I let a professional do it, but can't fit that into my budget but ever so often. Let me know about your scale, as I have been also wanting one that shows the body fat. Keep up the good work. Mary

princess8alot on 12/16/2003:
you'll like the Tanita scale...the body fat reading takes a bit to adjust but overall it's a reliable easy to read scale. Got mine over a year ago and it's still going strong. P.S....have my box of haircolor sitting on the counter, but I'll do that right before the holidays for a christmas perk...aint gettin older fun?! ; )

Well, well, late today, aren't I? Almost wasn't even going to make an entry today. Even though that monster Saddam has been captured and everyone is all happy about it, I'm feeling really down today (not about that!) I got on the scale and I'm right back where I was last Wednesday! I know, I haven't posted it here and you are all in the dark but I'm only going to post the WW meeting scale results. Today is the day---Mom decided she wanted to go to the 1pm meeting today. So I know it will show a gain since I was weighing on Tuesday mornings before. I just don't care right now. I guess I'll be going to the Monday afternoon meetings from now on with Mom so eventually I'll start showing a loss---I hope! I'm having such a hard time lately staying under 22 points, and I only get those 2 extra points if I exercise for half an hour, so otherwise, it would only be 20 points! Heck, I usually have 6 just for breakfast! Guess I'd better try to cut down more. It's sooooo hard!!

No exercise this morning---I went back to bed! Hey, it's just one of those kind of days! So I'm going with it! Just another grouchy day. It seems since I switched back to Prempro I'm having a lot more symptoms of the menopausal kind. At least the hot flashes are gone but I just feel so "blah" sometimes. Well, the other hormonal combination I was on was great for all that but I started having TOM every other week or so. Not good! So back on the old Prempro. Sorry to go on about that.

Okay, I'll be back tomorrow with the new weight results. Must be honest here. I know it won't be good. Oh, well! As I said before, I really don't care today. Blah! I hope you're all having a better day than I am. Take care, stay warm and stay strong! Buh-bye!

Nikitalee on 12/15/2003:
I'm sorry you're having such a "blah" day! We all need a few of those once in a while. Good luck with WW and the rest of the week!!

Well, it's almost noon here and I'm just getting on here. Been a busy morning. At least I did finally get up at 7:30 and did my walk on the treadmill and the lunges and squats again. I'm still only doing 10 of each so far but they did make the fronts of my thighs sore the other day. So I'm working my way up. They were a little easier today but I still lose my balance sometimes when I do them. Makes me mad! And I also do some stretches and I'm getting better at those, stretching farther. Just did 33 minutes on the treadmill and 1.75 miles. Added in 3--2 minute hills also. I set the incline on 5, don't know what that means. Is it a 50% incline or what? Whatever....

Yesterday was terrible!! I was doing well all day until I started to make the cookies. The darn cookie press I had bought at Michael's last week wouldn't work right, it's battery operated and just doesn't have that much power to push the cookie dough out right. We changed the batteries but that didn't help. I got so upset I started crying and getting mad because I had to get the cookies made this weekend so I could pack them and get them sent to the boys. Well, the ones I finally made weren't very nice looking so I angrily ate a whole bunch of them!! Yeah, right, that really helps. Darling Husband finally came to the rescue and helped me roll the dough out and we used cookie cutters--rather, he did almost all the work. I was just tired and aggravated. I'm the kind of person that if something doesn't work just the way I planned, I get so pi@#$%^ off and I cry. I feel like I can't do anything right, ya know? So it turns into a real pitty-party for me. Well, it's over now, lots of cookies were made by the DH and I also had those ones you just place and bake, ya know, the ones with the trees in the middle and the snowmen. So DH just finished packing them all up for me (minus the ones he and I ate) and they're all ready to go to the post office. Yayyy, DH, my love!

Today is a better day--so far. I'm having some lower stomach pain for some reason though, feels like cramps, maybe a UTI or something. Oh, well, at least I got in the exercise this morning. I think I was in such a bad mood yesterday because I didn't get the exercise as I knew I should have. That always seems to make a bad day all around. Have to remember that little detail when I'm feeling lazy. Heck, maybe I'll even get out in the sun later for some more walking if that belly pain goes away.

So anyway, I hope you're all having a good Sunday. Be good and I'll see ya tomorrow!

Runner on 12/14/2003:
I could totally relate to your entry! I've had some real baking disasters when something I make turns out toally wrong and I end up eating most of it out of anger!!! I've had some frustrating times in the kitchen, that's for sure! Thankfully, I have a supportive husband who has rescued me more than once from doing something even worse!

Good morning! Welcome to Soonie's lazy Saturday! Yep, I didn't get up early. I turned the alarm off at 7am and rolled over and went back to sleep! Ooh, it felt soooo good! But at least I did get up at 8. Just fed the birdies and here I am. I'll try to get in the exercise later today. And a busy day it will be again. I need to get the tree up and the cookies made today. But I should be able to find some time for exercise.

Okay, yesterday....not a real good day, but not too bad. I did eat over my points by 9 but I'll just call those flex points (we get 35 flex points every week) It was a really hungry day. I'll tell you what happened--after getting most of my work done, I went out to the post office, the pool store and the grocery. I should have eaten something first since it was already 12:30 when I left, but I thought I would be okay till I got back home. Well, 1:30 came along and I still wasn't home and starting to feel kind of hungry and weak. So I ate the Glucerna bar I always carry with me and headed for home. I was even sweating from head to toe and I knew my blood sugar was really low. So when I got home I drank some orange juice right away and sat down awhile. Then I hurried up and made a ham and cheese sandwich, some Baked Ruffles and a diet cherry coke. I think I could have eaten the whole kitchen by then! And from there on I just kept eating. At least I kept track of the points all day. So it wasn't too bad but not too good, hah! That's what happens when I let my blood sugar get too low. Lesson learned! Well, at least I was busy ALL day and I did do my walk and arm exercises and ab crunches first thing in the morning. And my scale says I lost half a pound since yesterday morning. I'm not revealing my weight here until I get weighed at WW this week. And then it will probably be up or not down much because we will be going to an afternoon meeting instead of my usual morning meeting, unless Mom decides not to go this week. Oh, and I finally took some measurements yesterday--just waist, hips and chest--and I won't divulge the results here. Man, I'm such a round little sucker! But at least I have skinny legs and my butt isn't too bad for an old person. So I will check again next month to see if I'm losing any inches.

Well, it's only 35 degrees here this morning. I thought I'd left this cold weather back in Ohio, darnit! But the sun is shining, just a few clouds and I know it will warm up sooner or later here. These really cold days don't happen very often.

Okay, almost time for breakfast. I hope you're all having a good start to the weekend. Have you all done your exerise this morning or were you lazy like Soonie? I'll be back later to read all the entries. Take care and may you all have a great Saturday!

Maria7 on 12/13/2003:
Hey, Soonie! I know what you mean about low blood sugar...have to be careful about that! Usually I take something with me to eat when I leave the house, just in case I need to eat something in a hurry and am tempted not to make a wise choice...a small pack of cheese/peanut butter crackers only about 200 cals, for example, and ALWAYS a bottle of water...I'm glad you're okay. It's very tempting when hungry and out on the road to stop by a fast food place and order something real yummy!!! Hehehe!

Soon2BThin - Friday Dec 12, 2003

Happy Friday, everybody!! Oh, goodie, I can sleep in tomorrow, somewhat! I'm still going to get a good walk in the morning though. Just a little later, I think. I still have that "I want to go back to bed" feeling when I first wake up but I'm conquering it so far. Once I'm up and doing things, it's okay. The DH is off to work and I'm ready to go!

Yesterday was another excellent day for me. Wow, 2 in a row! Hahaha! I stayed within my points (okay, so I had one extra point over the 22, so sue me, but I was very busy all day) and had all that good exercise first thing in the morning, and I did add in some squats and lunges, curvy shar. Only 10 of each but they about killed my knees! So I guess I'll just have to work my way up on those. I went to the mall for a little while too, and WalMart, so I did more walking there. Busy day! Today is a pretty much stay-at-home day, although I have to go out and buy the stuff to make some Christmas cookies this weekend for my boys, and take a pool water sample to the pool place to see if all is okay with it before we cover it up, and also, drop some more Christmas cards at the post office. So I guess it'll be another going-out day after all. We had some rain over-night so I hope that is all finished. I wouldn't want to get rained on, haha!

Okay, must get busy already! I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend. Have you done that exercise yet? Get busy! I'm going to do my half hour on the treadmill (BTW, I added in 3 hills yesterday and they're getting easier, yay!) and the arm exercises and ab crunches today. I've turned the spare room into quite a little gymnasium, hahaha! I still wish I had a stationary bike though. I used to have a really nice one but we sold it to a friend when we moved out here and DH hasn't seen fit to buy me another one as he had promised, bah! So I must get busy on things. You all take care and I'll see ya tomorrow. Buh-bye!

Soon2BThin - Thursday Dec 11, 2003
(Weight Watchers Flexpoints)
Weight: 162.8

Good morning, everyone!! I had an excellent day yesterday! Did my exercise (see Update), ate within my points and didn't use any flex points. Whoopee!! I'm going to try not to use any flexpoints this week since I need a big start on the weight-loss. We'll see how long that will last. I'll probably cave on that one later today, we know my past record. And 22 points (20 regular and 2 for exercise) is not very much, according to my stomach. Hah!

Here's the plan for today---first get dressed, do my exercise (add some squats and lunges today), shower, eat breakfast, and head for the mall! Yep, I need to get out in the crowds one more time. Just have a few last minute things to get and I'm finished. And Sears sent me a $10 coupon I can use if I spend $20 or more. Hey, I can't resist that one! Also have a $5 coupon for the Hallmark store. Too bad I already bought all my Christmas cards. But maybe I can find something there for my daughter-in-law. I know, I know, not much time left to get something packed and in the mail but I wanted to get her something nice this year, not just money. I hate the money thing. But that's what all my boys are getting, oh, well.

Okay, enough rambling here. Must go get started. And I'm not even tempted to go back to bed, yayyy, me! But I sure am hungry this morning already. Well, I went to bed kind of hungry. I don't know what it is lately but I sure seem to be hungry a lot more than usual. Oh, well..... You all have a real good day, drink that water, eat those veggies, move that wonderful body. We're all going to look and feel sooooo good, right? Take care and I'll see ya tomorrow.

curvy shar on 12/11/2003:
So how did your day go? Did you add in those squats and lunges? Hope it was a good one!

Soon2BThin - Wednesday Dec 10, 2003
(Weight Watchers Flexpoints)
Weight: 162.8

Good morning!! Yep, I won this morning. That little voice that tells me to go back to bed lost the fight this morning. Yesterday, she won. I had a really bad day. But it's a new day! I woke up with a sort-of sore throat and was really tempted to go back to bed, but I've fought the good fight and here I am. As soon as I finish here, it's off to get ready for a nice walk on the treadmill. We finally got it moved back into the spare room since DS has moved out so now I can look out on the front yard and the street. No more CNN since I don't have a TV in front of it any more. And it sure left me lots more room in my bedroom. I also moved my weights in there and I'm going to start working with them this morning. One of these days I'm going to buy a weight bench to go with them, hah!

Soooo, I didn't get to the WW meeting again yesterday. I was so lazy yesterday!! Next week my Mom wants to go with me. The only problem is that she likes to sleep later so I will have to go to a later meeting, sheesh! And I'm worried that she won't like the meeting and will say bad things about it. I hate when someone does that. When there's something I like and then, someone goes with me and they don't like it the same way I do, well, I just hate that. And my Mom is soooo picky. She didn't like the church we went to either and I LOVED it. She didn't like the songs, the way everyone had to stand so long, the way we sang the same things over and over, well, you get the picture. So I'm kinda dreading next week's meeting with her. There's a 1:00 meeting on Monday and a 12 noon meeting on Tuesday so we'll go to one of those.

Well, I'd better get busy or I'll never get to that walk. It's only 6:35 here so I'm getting an early start on the day. It's cold and dark but I'm up!! These winter mornings it's so easy to just climb back into the sack where it's nice and warm. So I'll just go make my bed and then I can't get back in it. Good idea, right? Okay, you all have a great day. I'll be struggling along today, I've just been eating way too much lately. I start out strong and then, get weak as the day goes on. But I'm going to stay strong all day today, okay? And you all stay strong too. I'll be checking on you later. Take care, see ya's tomorrow!

UPDATE: Okay, I did it. It's 8am and I just finished 33 minutes on the treadmill--1.75 miles. And I did some weight lifting exercises and ab crunches. So I'm off and running! Well, heh, not running, exactly yet. But it's a start. Everybody say, "Yayyy, Soonie!!" Now I'm off to a nice, hot shower! Buh-bye!

TheMother on 12/10/2003:
Good morning S2BThin:

You sound raring to go. Good for you! I know what you mean about fighting the temptation to go back to bed. I haven't done that in 10 months since I went back to work but when I was home for 1 1/2 years, I would get up, making hubby his travel mug of coffee and go back to bed until 9:30 a.m. Now 9:30 is almost mid-morning (I get up about 5:45 a.m. on workdays). I, too, have a sore throat. From what I hear, a lot of people have flu-like symptoms and scratchy throats, colds, etc.

Well, time for me to get back to work. Have a good walk on the treadmill and a great day.

Good morning!! I'm ba-ack! How's everyone doing? I feel like I've been gone from here soooo long! I have a lot of catching up to do. I'll bet everyone of you has lost some weight since last week. Well, my scale said I'd lost 1.5 while I was gone to Vegas but I've gained 3 the last 2 days!! Guess I'd better straighten up my act here. I kind of went overboard with the junk on Saturday. After doing so well while I was gone. We did lots of walking around and probably only ate 2 meals a day since we were so busy. The choices I made weren't too good but I didn't eat that much of it. And I drank lots of water. So now it's over and time to get back on the wagon. But I'm not doing any exercise this morning. I'm getting an early start on some shopping. I'm going to Target, Michael's and Kohl's big 2-day sale. I haven't been to the new Kohl's we have near here. I'm glad they all open at 8am so I can get an early start. There's nothing I really need to get but I just feel like looking.

Okay, we didn't do so well in Vegas, didn't need a wheel barrow to haul the loot home. I guess I'm just not supposed to ever win a big jackpot. I did win $100 the first night but they got that all back plus more. The weather was great and we did see some of the hotels---the Mirage, Treasure Island and the Venetian, besides where we stayed at the Circus, Circus. I don't recommend Circus, Circus unless you just want to spend less on your hotel. It's pretty old and not kept up very well. The last time we went we stayed at the Mirage, that's the one with the volcano in front. It's pretty expensive, over $120 a night. But you could look right out our window and see the volcano go off every 15 minutes (or maybe it was 30 minutes, I can't remember) It's a really pretty place.

Okay, enough of all that. Time to get on with the day. I hope you all have a good one! Take care and stay warm. See ya tomorrow!

legcramp on 12/08/2003:
It's great to hear that you had a good time in Vegas! Hope you're rested and relaxed too, but that's hard to do while in Vegas, isn't it?!! Oh well, back to the grind!! Have a great day today!

Good Monday morning! Well, I've sure got lots to do today, getting ready to leave for Vegas this evening. We're flying up, BTW. So this will be my last entry until next weekend. I made this entry green, the color of money, for extra luck. Wish me some, okay? I've never won a big jackpot in my life so I'm overdue!

Yesterday, no exercise, unless you count all the running around I did. I did go out to the mall (crazy) and the second hand store too. But I did really well with the food eating so I think I'll go weigh myself now. Just a minute, I'll be right back......Okay, I'm back. Not as good as I'd hoped---160 on my home scale. Oh, well, I'll just try not to make too many bad choices this week but it won't be easy. Can you say "buffet"?? And there's a McD's in the hotel where we're staying, how convenient! And a Mexican food restaurant! I'm sure we'll hit that one. Oh, well, at least my right arm will get lots of exercise on the slots, haha!

Okay, I'll be thinking of you all and I'm sure that will help me stay in line somewhat. I hope you all have a good week. I'll have so much catching up to do next weekend. Take care and have a good one! Buh-bye!!
