Just checking in for a quick update. Nothing really new. I pretty much just sat around all day yesterday. Went to friends' house for lunch and cards all afternoon and evening. My back is feeling it now. Too much sitting. So today I will get busy. Some shopping to do. We've planned a vacation in Vegas for hubby and I a week from Monday. So I need to get some more of this weight off. I'm sure we'll do lots of walking there. I know when my son and I went in Sept. I lost 3 pounds for the 4 days we were gone. I hope it happens again this time, heh. I hope you all have a great day. See you tomorrow.

Yay, I made it into the 170's!! That's so encouraging. So now no more weighing until Monday, I promise. Thank you all so much for all your comments. Biscottibody, I sure do remember Pastagal's saying, she said it everyday. And so true. I will keep that in mind. And I wish you all could share this great weather here, although we expect rain tonight and only 60 degrees tomorrow for a high. Today----73, but it's cloudy right now. A nice walk is in store for later, I hope. I have an appointment with the accupuncturist this morning for a laser treatment on my back. It's doing pretty well, BTW and I only go once a month for this treatment now. Yesterday was good at eating but no real exercise but I was busy all day. I will stay true today, I feel so much better, knowing it's working. I really need to do some weights though, my arms are so flabby now. I used to have some low-weight dumbbells but can't find them, guess I will have to use the 5 pounders. That shouldn't be too hard. I can always do it while watching TV, I do a lot of that. Did you see The Biggest Loser last night? It seems someone is always getting hurt. Gee, I wonder why? I can't believe some of the things they make these big people do! What a crazy show! But I can't stop watching. I recorded American Idol so hubby and I can watch it today, he had to work last night. The only show we watch together, heh. Okay, gotta run. Have a great day. WE CAN DO THIS!! See you tomorrow.

Progress as of today: -8.6 lbs lost so far, only 39.6 lbs to go!

Okay, I did get on the scale this morning---down slightly. I did get my mojo back too. Once I got busy with the day I was better. I went to the grocery store, got a few things for us and a few things Mom needed. Then I went to her place. She's doing well but she needs to force herself to get dressed and get out some. The weather is so nice I told her to sit out on her porch and get some fresh air and sun at least. Her incision looks really good too. I'm so glad she didn't get some kind of infection as a lot of people do these days. Then I came home, had lunch, rested a bit and went out for a half hour walk. I wore shorts and a t-shirt, it was so warm, the sun shining and a little breeze, just perfect for walking outside. My eating was pretty good except for the dinner I made. I had no idea how many calories it was and I went back for a little more. I regret that. But just a fresh pear for dessert. Still learning. You all have a great day. Maybe I will see the 170's tomorrow. Oh, yeah, that's right, I said I would only weigh once a week. We'll see about that one! See you tomorrow!

Progress as of today: -9.2 lbs lost so far, only 40.2 lbs to go!

Your lucky having that warm weather it's freezin' here in the UK with more snow expected for tomorrow, roll on spring!!!Be good,Jules PS Do you still do your bowling??

hollybelle on 01/12/2010:
Those words are so odd sounding to me - "the weather is so nice here"! LOL! Enjoy it - it's freezing and nasty here in KY, wish I was there???? Glad your day went well yesterday - how often does that happen - once you get going things work out.....most of the time, doesn't it?

legcramps on 01/12/2010:
Yep, did I already say i'd like to purchase the house down the block from you and move there?!!! LOL, hope you're enjoying the warm days. Have a good one today :)

biscottibody59 on 01/12/2010:
Good job Soonie! Remember what PastaGal used to write--one day at a time and consistency . . . have a good one!

Maria7 on 01/12/2010:
Glad your Mom's doing well.

A fresh pear sounds nice. For my desert after supper last nite, I had my own version of peach cobbler...(3 peach halves with 1 tsp sugar and 1/2 tsp nutmeg sprinkled over them heated in the microwave and 1 piece diet toast plain all eaten together), only 150 lowfat calories and very yummy.

What?? Up a tad again! Well, that's what happens when you weigh every day. I think I'll just go to once a week now. Mondays. I ate dinner late last night and I was so hungry I ate too much. Other wise eating was really good yesterday but no exercise. I don't know about today. I feel so tired and kind of depressed, like I lost my mojo, heh. I'll try to do my best. See you tomorrow!

Progress as of today: -9.4 lbs lost so far, only 40.4 lbs to go!

nenak on 01/11/2010:
weigh once per week because your body changes hourly! weighing at the same time every week in the same clothes at the same place will help to be the most acurate! your doing all the right things so dont be too hard on yourself okay?

panda22 on 01/11/2010:
Hey there, don't worry about the small fluctuation! You are still basically maintaining so don't get discouraged! Cheer up! I know what you mean about getting tired and feeling like you've lost your mojo. I am a new stay at home mom and I sometimes feel like that. It's hard to stay on track some days, but we can't give up! Hope your day gets better!!

underpreshur on 01/11/2010:
Hi ya both nenak and panda22 are right but you can do it and will succeed. Look what you have achieved already.

legcramps on 01/11/2010:
Get out there and do something, maybe that will lift your spirits a bit. Have a good day today!

MoodyMe on 01/11/2010:
I have gone from never weighing to weighing daily, sometimes more than once a day! I don't get discouraged tho because I know fluctuation during the day is absolutely normal..however, I am going to try and ease off the scale and check in every few days..then once a week..lol

Don't worry, you'll get your mojo back!

Weight is going down bit by bit. It sure seems more difficult this time. So don't wait until you're old like me to try to lose it all. DO IT NOW! I did eat pretty well yesterday although a little candy was involved. And I got out there and walked for 40 minutes. I figure I was probably going about 3 miles an hour so that would make it about 2 miles. I'm really feeling it this morning. I need to get back to the accupuncturist for another treatment on my back. He said to do once a month for maintanance. Either the accupuncture or this low-intensity laser he used on me last time. I like the laser, no needles, haha! Anyway, I will rest today and eat right and maybe tomorrow I will see the 170's finally. For those who asked, Mom had a tumor removed from her thyroid and they had to remove half of the thyroid also. She is 79 in May. She's doing well. She lives in a retirement community now, a nice little apartment that has lots of windows for lots of sunshine that I think perks her up more than her gloomy house did. And she has met some people now so she says she is happy there. She gets 2 meals a day included and they clean her apartment once a week and wash her sheets for her and they go on trips to the stores and the casino so she doesn't need to drive. Oh, and they have "happy hour" every Thursday that she just loves. A woman plays the piano and they can sing along the old songs they know. Mom loves to sing. So it's a little easier on the rest of us now. My husband doesn't have to do her yard work anymore or repairs on the house. Her house sold quickly so she's content. I wouldn't mind living there myself. Anyway, I'll see you tomorrow. You all have a fine Sunday!

Hey does your mom need a roommate? Sounds like a pretty good deal! Hope you can get relief for your back. I hurt mine this summer on my bike - so I know it's no fun! Have a good week!

biscottibody59 on 01/11/2010:
Glad to hear things are going well with your mom--a load off of you I'm sure! I hope your pain issues improve.

Keep on keepin' on and keep up the good work Soonie!

Well, at least I didn't gain the last couple of days but I thought I may have lost a little since I didn't really eat that much....until I came home yesterday. I stopped on the way at McD's for a chicken sandwich meal, I was so hungry. And then I ate a handful of peanut M&M's. Oh, well. Back to the drawing board. Mom is doing fine. The surgery went well and she was feeling better yesterday so I came home in the afternoon. I was so bored from just sitting around I couldn't wait to get home. So today will be better. Okay, it's 10am, time for brekky. Partly cloudy with 70 degrees today. I see a nice walk in store for me. See you tomorrow!

Well, something seems to be wrong with my scale, haha! Up slightly. I had a really good day yesterday, eating was good and I rode my recumbant bike for 30 minutes during Biggest Loser and then jogged on my rebounder during the last 4 commercial breaks which totaled 16 minutes. For some of you this would have been easy-peasy but for this 60 yr old, 180 pound couch potato it was a marathon. But it felt good. Not like those poor souls on the Biggest Loser. Do you think they maybe push them a tiny bit hard? Sheesh. I'd never go on there. But the weight they lost the first week was incredible. Anyway, I won't be making an entry the next 2 days. Mom is having a tumor removed from her thyroid as an outpatient tomorrow (not cancer) and of course, I am the one to take her to the hospital and stay with her afterward. (By the way, where is Maria?) So I won't be home until Friday sometime. So I will be back here on Saturday. Today the hubby and I have some business to take care of this morning and then probably eat lunch out. I'll try to get out and walk again this afternoon. Sunny, 71 today. Hope I can find some shorts that fit. So you all have a good rest-of-the-week. See you soon!

great workout yesterday! hope everything goes well wtih your mom : )

geevee on 01/06/2010:
I watched about 2 min. of Biggest Loser and had to change the station. I just can't get inspired by such obese people and believe me, a few years ago I was well on my way to being one of them. I much prefer DD's and reading about what others are doing. I don't need to see the weight.

Maria7 on 01/06/2010:
Here I am, Soonie. I usually read entries here daily tho I quit journaling here a long time ago. Sorry to hear about your Mom. I prayed for you both...her for healing and you for strength. I know how it is to be the one in the family that looks after the Mom. My Mom is also scheduled for outpatient surgery. Hers is next week and since she's been diagnosed with dementia, I have to sign her consent as well as be with her. She lives in a nursing home now and that does help some. Hope all goes well tomorrow, Soonie. I will be thinking about y'all and praying. Love, Maria

panda22 on 01/06/2010:
Hey there! Great job with the workout =) I agree with you about the Biggest Loser. Although it is inspiring, sometimes I don't like watching it because I know that it's unrealistic. OF COURSE you are going to lose 10-15 pounds in a week if you drastically cut your calories to 1,200 and exercise for half the day. OF COURSE if you go away to a ranch like that and people cook your meals you will see results like that. The sad thing is, those people are hit with a much harsher reality when they get home and have to work very hard to keep it off....I was watching the special where they re-visited like 40 of the past contestants, and a lot of them put some weight back on. Those that kept it off had become professional personal trainers and stuff so they could keep their vigorous workouts up. I love the Biggest Loser and think it has changed a LOT of lives for the better, but I also agree with Geevee in the sense that I do prefer to come here to DD and see others like myself work their butts off AND balance family, work, and LIFE in general. Well sorry to ramble. You are doing awesome! Still envious of that beautiful weather you are having =D have a great night!

Sorry I am late today. I just broke one of my New Year's resolutions this morning. Guess which one. I'm so bad. Oh, well. My weight was the same this morning. Nothing going on there. I had a good day yesterday, eating-wise and exercise-wise. I walked for 30 minutes in the afternoon outside---sunny, about 70 degrees. Eat your hearts out, sorry. Perfect weather, that's why we moved here. There are 3 houses on our street for sale, anyone interested? Anyway, good walk. I walk for 15 minutes in one direction, then turn around and walk back. What a concept!! HAH! My foot hurt but I did it anyway. Tonight I will probably do the jogging on the rebounder during the commercials on Biggest Loser. What inspiration! Thanks for all the comments. That keeps me going. See you sometime tomorrow. I hope things are going well for you all.

Progress as of today: -9.4 lbs lost so far, only 40.4 lbs to go!

Hey there! Don't worry about breaking a resolution! Put it in the past and move forward! You are doing great with the exercise. Man I'd love to step outside into such nice weather! If the military didn't decide where we lived I'd move somewhere warm in a heartbeat! lol. Well have a great evening and remember, tomorrow is a new day, you are doing so good!

I'm going back down again. One more good day should get me into the 170's again. Eating was very good yesterday (well, eating is always good, right? Haha) You know what I mean. And I jogged on my rebounder during every commercial on Desperate Housewives last night. That was at least 15 minutes I think, about 4 minutes at a time. Well, at least it was something. Busy day today. WalMart, the mall, taking my Mom to the bank. And the usual around the house stuff. Have a great day! See you tomorrow.

You're the first person other than myself I know of who uses TV commercial time advantageously. It's amazing how productive one hour's worth of commercials can be.

I haven't been able to prod myself to exercise, but I use that time to clean a good part of my house. That way I don't feel as if I've missed anything and yet I've accomplished a lot.

Okay, I'm back up to 182 but I had a really good day yesterday after the really bad day on Friday. 3 steps forward, one step back, that's me. I think I learned something though. You'd think by now I've already learned it all, heh. So today will be another good day, I'm sure. I bought good things from the grocery store yesterday so I have healthy foods to eat now. No more McD's. I'm going to go read some entries now. You all have a great day! See you tomorrow!
