Okay, I'm doing well. The weight is going down again. I was 178.2 the other day, now 174. Still way higher than I thought I would ever get again. I would like to be in the 160's by the time I go to Vegas. I walked 2 miles again yesterday. I kind of like getting up really early to get it done, before the sun gets over the mountains. And it's a little cooler then. Soon I won't have to get up so early, it will be cooler later in the morning. No walking today nor bowling, my right foot hurts, right where the toes join the foot. Been having trouble with that lately and will call a podiatrist this morning. So things are going well. Hope you're all doing great!

Oh, wo is me! I haven't been doing well and I know the weight is back up past where it was before. Why, why, when I was doing so well?? 3 weeks to Vegas and here I am, still trying. Still fat. Er, fatter. But I got out there this morning at 6:30 and did 1 1/2 miles of walking. So it's a start. At least I never give up completely. I didn't actually get on the scale this morning so didn't change the weight here but I will soon. The other day I got on it and it was terrible! Anyway, I'm back on the wagon. Things are so busy for me lately but I still find the time to eat, heh. And all the wrong things. I feel like crap!

Okay, just a little more down but at least I'm moving in the right direction. And still no real exercise. I've been really busy though. That really helps. My Mom needs a lot of help now. She will be moving into an assisted living apartment in Oct. so we need to go through all her things and then move what she wants to keep. She's going to need to really scale down, that will be hard for her. Mom's all about the things, haha! She's excited about the move though. Also yesterday I spent about 3 hours cleaning my bathroom and the linen closet. I had a lot of stuff in the linen closet that hasn't been used in years so out it goes. It really gets me down when things are not clean and organized. I feel like a weight has been lifted off me. I've been wanting to do that for a long time. My back is doing much better now, thanks to the accupuncture treatments. I'm down to just going every other week now, unless I need to go in sooner. My hips bother me but that's just arthritis and old age so I just try to keep moving. I'm still planning on starting a walking routine just as soon as I get to it, heh. I've already been doing reverse crunches and ab exercises that don't use much movement, just sucking in my abs and letting them out. I don't want to strain my back again. So I will just try to keep adding things in. Haven't been in the pool enough lately, so busy and we're still getting our monsoon season so in the afternoons it clouds up and we get rain sometimes. Only 5 more weeks to Vegas so I need to keep all this up. That could mean 5 more pounds or more. Hopefully more, heh. My cat has been sick also. She is 16 years old and has heart disease, pancreatitis, and inflamed bowel disease so we are treating her for those. Really hard to get a pill in her, she's not too weak to fight that. It just breaks my heart to see her not her old self. Just hoping she will get better and give us a few more years. My cat is my baby. So lots of stress around here but my eating has been pretty good. I did have fast food one day last week but the rest has been good. Some days better than others. The secret is keeping busy. Okay, enough rambling. Thanks for your comments. I'll see you soon.

Another pound gone! I'm just glad to lose one pound a week, although I would like it to be more. Had a busy week, a couple of occasions for eating things I really shouldn't have. I'll try to do better this week. No real exercise except I did get to bowl 3 games on  Thursday and my back didn't hurt a bit. I have exercised some in the pool. I walk backwards for 10 minutes in the shallow end (of course), the accupuncturist said that would be good for my back. Also paddle around some on my "boogie" board. Using the hot tub also. Some days are just too busy to get all that in but I try to do it when I can. I also have an inversion table so I hang upside-down on that when I can for about 10 minutes, good for the spine. I didn't get a treatment last week since he was gone on vacation and the last couple of days my back has hurt more again but not at all like it used to. So all is good for me except my cat is having health issues, she's 16 years old now. I hope you're all doing well.  I'll keep you posted. 7 weeks to Vegas!

pool exercise are great. I dont get around to much exercise but i do get in the pool and swim laps as much as i can. good for you with that and good for you with the one pound a week .. thats great!

Another pound gone! I wasn't expecting it since I haven't really been that strict with my diet and exercise. But I'm doing better than I had been. My only exercise has been in the pool and yesterday I didn't do any at all, unless you call walking all around the casino for 4 hours exercise, heh. I'm trying to eat my biggest meal at lunch and I haven't been getting around to that until about 2pm. The last few days have been very busy and today will be also. That helps a lot. I'll try to get in the pool for some more exercise today if I find the time. Hope you're all doing fantastic!

I can't believe I haven't been here since June 7th!! I think a couple of my entries got lost. Maybe. My weight is up slightly from then but it was 176.8 a few days ago so I've done some good the past couple of days. My back is doing better but I still have to keep up the maintainance on it. I go once a week for accupuncture and that's the thing that has really helped the most. I have an inversion table that kind of works like traction, I walk backwards in the pool as much as I can (I know, it sounds weird but he says it will help my spine) and I've been getting into the hot tub. So these are things I have to do the rest of my life if I don't want my back to get worse again. Soon I will probably only have to go for accupuncture about once a month. I'm trying to get back to my walking on the treadmill and just did 20 minutes day before yesterday. I also try to do some swimming and exercises in the pool. Anyway, that's it with me. How are you all doing? I will be going to Vegas with my son the end of Sept. so I have a little incentive to keep me going. I don't want to be this fat by then. And we will be doing lots of walking around so I want to be able to do that too. I hope you're all having a good weekend. See you soon!

Good maintaining. Welcome back. I have a back that tends to get out of whack, too. The inversion table helps tremendously. Also any ab exercises you can do to stabalize the core.

Well, where do I begin? I feel horrible and getting on the scale this morning did not help the situation any. I thought I would have lost at least a pound this week, I don't think I did that badly. But not to be. So I'm feeling really, really bad and ready to just give up. And the pain in my back is terrible. It hurt all day yesterday while just sitting and playing cards and I had to keep getting up to stand to ease the pain some. I told one of our friends there that it even hurt my skin when anything touched it and she said it sounded like when she had shingles so I'm thinking it may be that. After cards last night, on the way home, we even stopped at an Urgent Care but they were already closed. It's no better or worse this morning so I will just call the doc's office in the morning, I guess. There is no rash but she said she didn't get the rash either. Anyway, I did very well yesterday while everyone else was eating all the goodies. We had BBQ ribs and I only ate 3 very small ones, and there was pasta salad, which I only ate one small spoonful. Oh, and one slice of bread. She had lots of snacks and I did eat just a few Tostitos and pretzels and cantaloupe, and the dessert was low-cal and I only ate a small portion. And I didn't eat any dinner because we played cards until 9. After we got home, I did eat a small packet of oatmeal though or I probably wouldn't be able to get to sleep on an empty stomach. So that was my day and I feel angry that I deprived myself and still had a small gain. And the rest of the week wasn't that bad either. I counted calories almost every day and thought I did really well. Okay, that's my rant. I have no one else to talk to about all this, heh. So you guys get it all, haha! Thanks. I guess if I really get real about it, I didn't do any exercise except on Monday so what could I expect? At least my stomach feels less bloated. Anyway, that's it. Having a lousy day and it's only 9am. I think I'll just nap all day, ha! Have a good one!

I had to completely relearn how to eat, when the doc put me on a diet. I was pre-diabetic (insulin resistant) and my body was hoarding every calorie. I was walking 20+ miles a week and watching my food choices, and losing 1/2 pound at best.

Doc put me on a low-glycemic diet. Told me to EAT something within an hour of waking up, and continue to eat something every 2-1/2 to 3 hours all day. Not full course meals, but grab an apple and some mozzarella cheese, or a protein shake, a two-egg and veggie omelet, or a brown rice cake with natural peanut butter on it, to get the day started.

I was NOT a breakfast eater, and thought skipping meals "helped" me lose weight. No. Those behaviors just screw up the metabolism, making it harder to lose. Now, I eat all day long, and sometimes think I can't fit it all in...and have lost 26 pounds since the end of Feb. I posted my diet a while ago, but if you'd like to see it again, let me know. I'll send it to ya.

I'm still here! Ha! I'm doing okay but could do better. I had a few rough times this week and weigh in is tomorrow morning. If I lost a pound, I will be happy. And today we play cards again, someone else's house this time. So I have no idea what lunch will be and there's always dessert later but no dinner. I will just do the best I can. It's always easier when other people are around. And I shall drink lots and lots of water. At least now we do healthier snacks instead of the chips and things. I hope she has some good fruit maybe. Oh, I talked to the doc's nurse yesterday about my MRI report---nothing seriously wrong, she said. Some degenerative disk whatever (I can't remember anything these days!) and I should start some physical therapy so I will call about that on Monday. I may try some accupuncture later too. Now I just have to deal with the pain and it's 24/7 now, ibuprophen does no good. Maybe I'll try a heat wrap thingy today, they help some but then I am hot all day. Oh, well. I hope you're all having a good Saturday. Hang in there and do the best you can.
