So sorry I haven't been here since Monday. Busy, busy. And I haven't been back to read and comment either. I'm a BAD DDer! Okay, just taking baby steps right now. I had not exercised since Monday either, unless you count the bowling yesterday morning. But today I got up early and did half an hour on the treadmill, 60 crunches (boy, that floor is a loooong way down!) and some stretching. I also went out to the mall and Super WalMart, where I walked and walked. Didn't get home until almost 3pm! I picked up a Subway sandwich at the WalMart too. Nice that they have that right inside the store. So that's what DH gets for dinner, also a cookie, heh. Already ate my half. Had no lunch so I was hungry. I will have something light, fruit or something later, so I don't starve while I sleep tonight, haha! Oh, I saw the new doc Wednesday. I was there for 3 1/2 hours!! Saw the doc for only half an hour of that. He said it's not usually like that, they were missing some people in the office. Anyway I liked him so far. Ordered some X-rays on my back, thinks I may have sciatica, and a bone-density test. Also thinks I have that wrist thing, you know, the word just flew right out of my head and I can't think of it now! But I have problems with numbness in my hands. Maybe I need some brain tests too, ya think? Oh, yeah, carpel tunnel, that's it! Whew! Haven't lost it completely yet, haha! Anyway, I completely forgot to tell him about the pain and heaviness in my legs. Sheesh! And I had a whole list but that wasn't on it. Also made an appointment to get my eyes checked out. They said I haven't been there since '05!! Since I'm diabetic I'm supposed to have the eyes checked every year. Oops! Also need to see the gut doc again and schedule that upper endoscopy. My insurance co. said it would have been covered had he done it the day I had the colonoscopy!! Just great! And wouldn't you know, lately I've been having some pain and discomfort in my middle stomach. Couldn't be all the junk food I've been eating, could it? Nah! Okay, enough about me. How are you all doing? I must make time to get here and read really soon. I still haven't finished cleaning up after the holidays and my house is a mess. And it's my turn to have the card game here next week. So that will be my weekend. Cleaning! Anyway, have a great weekend!

I'm doing good...and from the character of your entry I can tell you are VERY busy, but also excited and happy! :) And I'm glad that you are doing well! It seems that you are always happier when you are doing things and do not have too much free time so maybe you should keep up your routine! And, you may have been a bad DDer lately, but you are one of the diehards! I know that you are with us for good! haha!

A big hello to you from another 50++++. I too have some minor aches and pains and was recently diagnosed as being pre-diabetic. I'm going to classes for diabetes education and at the first class last week, they mentioned how important it is to have your eyes checked annually so....get crackin'! Have a GREAT day! TM (Pat)

Good Monday morning!! Okay, I'm already up and have finished 30 minutes treadmill and 10 minutes bike. And I did 60 ab crunches and some stretching. It's a start! I'll tell ya, just getting down on the floor and back up again is exercise for me, haha! The weight is up and I can't guarantee that the eating will be really good today but I will try. My left leg hurt the whole time I walked and my right knee hurt while riding the bike *sigh*. Guess I just need to whip this body into shape. I saw a commercial this morning about P.A.D., periferal artery disease, maybe I have that. My legs always hurt and feel heavy and I do have diabetes so I will mention that to the new doc on Wednesday. Better add that to my list, heh. Okay, I will try to get back here later to read and comment but can't guarantee it. Busy day. You all have a good one!

I know what you mean about getting up off the floor. Some days I just want to stay there.... and if I do get up everything snaps and cracks....

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO with you there on the aches and pains and tugs of exercise. I've just started taking a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement hoping to build more synovial fluids at the joints and up the spine. Remind me to evaluate in about a month. I'm hopeful. You did amazingly in the exercise department today, Soonie. Come back here more often. I miss you.

Good job on the exercise. Boy do I know what you mean about getting up off the floor. Maybe we need to hand a rope from the celing that we can use as a tow rope! I wish that I could get my exercise in in the a.m. It would be so much easier. I leave for work an 5:45 and I just won't get up any earlier that 4:30! I hope you have a good day and get good news about your legs.

Hiya, peeps! So sorry I didn't get here to report the findings of my "insides". All was perfect, good for me! At least a part of me is doing great! The rest, not so good, heh. I think I must weigh about the same as reported here the last time, even though I was down 3 pounds after all the starving on jello and broth for over 45 hours. I have not been good since then. And, BTW, if you ever need to have a colonoscopy done, not to worry. It's a "piece of cake". Even drinking the oral saline solution. I mixed it with Squirt soda and it wasn't too bad. Just so you know. I still do not have that little spark to get me back on the wagon yet. Although one morning I did have my alarm set to get up at 7am and do the treadmill but shut it off and went back to sleep. Baby steps, haha! My fat must be shifting though. I was able to get my jeans on yesterday that I couldn't button weeks ago. Go figure. I'm feeling well and getting the Christmas decor put away slowly but surely and things are getting back to normal. Oh, forgot to mention, the doc didn't do the upper endoscopy the same day as the colonoscopy...he didn't know if my insurance would cover it doing it the same day. Why the heck didn't his office call my insurance company to find out or at least call me so I could call?!! Here I was all set to have both procedures done and over with! Bah! So I will call them tomorrow and then set it up with the doc's office. I still had to pay $640 for the colonoscopy myself, cheap insurance company. You know, first of the year, high deductible. So, anyway....I hope you're all doing well. I WILL be back and back on the wagon soon. Really no choice about it. Soonie, out!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Okay, here's the official new year weight---I'm down 4.8 pounds from last New Year's day. Bah humbug! Kind of a wasted year. Oh, well, as I always say, could be worse. At least it's down and not up. New Year's resolution---lose weight. Big surprise. Today, though, I shall eat whatever I want because tomorrow and the next day will be just broth, jello and clear soda or tea. Thursday I have the colonoscopy and upper endoscopy so I can't eat and I have to drink that awful stuff tomorrow night and again Thursday morning. The tests won't be until the afternoon Thursday so I won't be able to eat until after that. Almost 2 whole days of that kind of eating may help with my weightloss start. So I will be "suffering" for the next 2 days. Let's eat!

Okay, who's hungover this morning, raise your hands! Not me, I don't drink. But I did have some fun last night. We went out to dinner with friends at Chili's and then back to their house where we played cards until 1:30. Kind of late for us but it was worth it. We haven't stayed up past midnight for the last few years. I hope you all had a nice night too.

Happy New Year! I'm not hung over but i did enjoy a couple drinks. Getting a headache isn't fun lol. Awww that clear diet thing is the pits..but it is actually a good way to give the body a little break...but I couldn't do it for two days...MAYBE one day, but after that I'd get cranky lol. Enjoy your FREE day today and then get back on track after Thursday! I wish you the best with your tests and CONGRATS on being LESS this year than last..that is great!

Happy New Year. Ive been helped along by being ill over christmas. Ive been sick so lost my appetite and not gone back to eating the same way. Ive asked myself all day if Im hungry and the true answer has been No. Had I asked the same question while looking at a bar of chocolate I might have given a differnt answer. So Im vowing to not eat rubbish and not eat out of boredom or habbit. And I wasnt hungover. I had a couple of glasses of wine but Im not a big drinker. Was just me and my husband in our home this year, we wanted a quiet one and we were in bed by about 12.30 (and no not for that. we both said we wanted to just to mark the new year but we were genuinly tired so went to sleep)

Well Happy New Year to you, Soonie!!! Do you remember me? I think that we were diarists together here soon after your move to Tucson. I am happy to see an old friend. If you remember, I lost all of the weight that I intended.... and then, some years have gone by and a painful divorce, and more... and I have to begin all over. Strangely though, I am feeling extremely motivated and confident. Help me when that begins to wane, okay? I am very proud of you getting that colonoscopy. I was thinking that it was probably routine, but what about the endoscopy? What is going on with your little body, Sweetie?

Haha, not me, I'm not hungover either, though strangely I did have a killer headache all day yesterday!

Soonie, I think being down 5 lb from last year is great. Most people are steadily gaining weight every year. You're losing. What could be better than that?!

Well, I hope you all had a great holiday! I'm still doing the same here although things with the DH are going better, I guess. The holidays are over so now time to clean up. Well, maybe another day, I feel lazy today. Still eating too much but not too bad. There weren't a lot of goodies over the holiday so that was good. If I could just stay away from the McD's that would help. Soon. I guess I will be like the rest of the peeps, starting right after the New Year. I want to get back to the gym again. My shoulder is doing better, although it still hurts to take my shirt off over my head but it's not getting worse. So I guess the acupuncture did some good. I will have to take it easy with the arm work though. Let's hope the new year will be better than this one was. Probably by the first I will be back to what I weighed the beginning of this year. At least I haven't done what my sis did, she's right back where she was a few years ago, at 200. I feel so sorry for her. I know she feels bad. But she's going to start next week too. Sometimes I feel like I've missed so much of life, worrying about my weight. I sure would like to be thinner by the Maui trip next November. And there may be more vacations before that too. So I will get back on track soon. Really my weight isn't too bad and I don't feel too bad because of it, but I can't let that influence my thinking. I know I will feel better with less weight. The DH has put on some weight too so we both need to do better with the eating. Okay, I do ramble on. I hope things are okay with you all. Maybe later I will be back to get caught up with you all. If I don't "see" you before then, have a Happy New Year and stay safe!

Your comment about feeling like you have missed so much of life worrying about your weight really hits home with me. I think I do best when I don't exactly "worry" about it, but make good food choices at the same time. What I do someteimes though is decide not to worry about it but eat without any thought to my food choices and it gets to be a problem. Now, if I can figure how to do it the right way most of the time - I'll have this thing whipped!

Well, just checking in. Status quo! Or rather, the weight is up somewhat, no surprise. I think I'm finally getting tired of living this way. You know how you get to the point that the junk food just doesn't hold that attraction any more. I'm depressed, feeling okay otherwise though. My life is a mess! I just don't know what to do. No communication! I guess that's just how men are, right? So I don't communicate either. And nothing gets resolved. It does seem so easy for him to keep going on this way though. Here I am, stressing about it and he seems like things are just ducky. Anyway.....nuff said. Hanging in there. Oh, if you're anxiously awaiting the movie "Halloween", forget it. I just watched it today and so disappointing! But you be the judge when it comes out. Well, have a good week and Happy Holidays!

Helleeewww! Well, I'm still having "issues" with my digestive tract. Of course, a good diet would probably help this, heh. And I'm not doing that so much right now. I know that eating of the carbs will just cause me to crave more of them but I just can't seem to stop. Not even trying, actually. And I do know that stress is the main cause. Yep, BTC, I have been really stressed lately and I'm sure that had something to do with what happened. DH issues. Anyway, I have had the colonoscopy and endoscopy done before so no surprises there. Not a problem. Just that I can't eat much for almost 2 days then. That should be good for me, heh. Still no exercise and with the changing of the weather here finally, my bones are all aching all the time. I know that exercise and stretching would help but do you think I have started back with that? Nooooo! Must be the holiday season. Okay, going to go finally get my Christmas cards ready to mail. Procrastinate? Me?

It has got to be the holiday season! I called it quits until Jan. It just wasn't worth the stress AND since I let up on my self, I have dropped a pound!! Stress is a bad thing. I hope everything goes ok with your tests. They are sooo much fun. Do you get to drink a gallon of "GO-Lightly"? What a name!

Well, to answer BTC, the GI doc was nice (and pretty cute too, heh) and I thought he seemed like a good doctor. I had never seen him before but my sis recommended him, she does medical transcription and knows the good doctors. Anyway, I'm scheduled for both the upper endoscopy and colonoscopy on Jan. 3. Oh, goody! He joked and said they use 2 different scopes, haha. Cute and funny too. So that's that. I still feel achey in the tummy but he said it would take at least 4 weeks to feel back to normal. It's only been just over 3 weeks. And he did say it was probably ulcerative colitis that I had. I just hope it doesn't happen again. I forgot to ask if he knew what could have caused it. I have been under a lot of stress lately. Okay, thanks for asking, BTC. I'm still not doing well with the diet thing. One of these days.....At least I'm a little less than at the beginning of this year, not much. I'm not bragging though. So I will see you all soon. Take care and do your best, if you can.

I don't know if you've had these procedures before, but I had something quite similar to a colonoscopy (a slightly lesser version, without anaesthesia), and it didn't hurt at all. So I'm sure it will go well. You must ask the doctor what he thinks could have caused this, as it would help you avoid it in the future! I think my ulcerative colitis was definitely brought on by stress. I had gotten married and bought an apartment in the months leading up to it. Now I am determined to stay as stress-free as possible. You must do the same! Nothing is worth sacrificing your health. Take care!
