Here I am again!  Weight is up a tad but I'm back to working on it again.  I hope you 're all doing well.  I just can't get back in the groove of making entries regularly like I used to years ago.  But I will try to get here more often.  Okay, gotta go make a deposit at the bank and go buy my lottery ticket.  Wish me luck, haha!

I'm still losing but so slowly!  How are you all doing?  I had a bad week last week, thus, the not so much weight lost.  When you mess up a whole week it's hard to get it off again.  Although, I was up to 178 on last Saturday but I know it was mostly water weight.  So now I'm at a new low, the lowest I've been in about 3 or 4 years.  Still not going with the exercise yet but maybe this weekend.  I used to do my exercise first thing in the morning and that really worked for me but, now with the hot weather, I try to do all my errands early before it gets too hot.  I know, no excuse.  We'll see about tomorrow.  I usually get groceries for Mom on Saturdays and take them over to her and visit a little.  So there goes most of the day.  Have a good weekend.  Stay strong!

Progress as of today: 17.4 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

ps I heard a discussion about pools the other day and how in our heat they don't cool down at all. One guy was going to get a giant block of ice to alleviate that problem. I hope yours stays cool.

Isn't that a great feeling to reach a new low - congrats. That should be inspiration for you to continue on the downward trend. I am one lb. away from reaching 50 lb. loss in only six months (doing WW). I'm anxiously awaiting my next meeting on Friday to get my 50 lb. award. It's these small things that help to make the journey doable and to keep on going. Have a GREAT weekend.

So, I'm only down .8 pounds from last Friday.  Sheesh!  It goes so slow!  I did have a couple of cheat meals last weekend, but have been doing well ever since.  I even added a little exercise this week.  I did my recumbant bike a few times.  Not a whole lot but I'm kind of easing into it.  Otherwise, I'm staying below 1200 calories every day.  We went to Macayo's last Saturday night to celebrate birthdays.  I had only had 575 calories before we went but then I ate chips and salsa like crazy, a bean and cheese burro and some mexican rice.  No alcohol, just water for my drink.  Then I had McD's for brekky Sunday morning.  Oh, well, at least I'm on a downward trend.  I've been up and down all week.  I say that every week, don't I?  I'm going to add more exercise this week and see if that helps.  It's so hot, I just don't feel like doing it.  Okay, have a great day!  And good losing to all!

I hear ya with the heat. I want to go walking outside, but the temps have been dangerously high. I like your positive attitude on the weight loss. .8 down is better than .8 up :)

Well, the weight is going sooooo  slow but at least, it's going!  I go up and I go down and then, I go down some more.  So I'm kind of on a downward trend.  I know if I really got busy and worked at it harder, I would lose so much faster, but right now I'm not exercising (I really need to get started on that) and some days I eat a little more than usual, like Mexican food, which I love.  But not too often and I'm getting really good at counting the calories and eating right most of my days.  My doc was really happy to see the improvement and said I could try just taking the diabetes meds every other day, my A1C has been dropping every time, and I am cutting out the cholesterol meds and we'll see how that goes in November when I go back.  So all that gives me incentive to keep working on it.  Those are my most expensive meds so that will help some since my hubby lost his job (greeter with the Kroger company) and I have to go on Cobra, which is expensive, until i make it to Medicare age in 22 months.  I knew it was too good to be true that we got good benefits when he was only a part-timer.  He was with them for 3 1/2 years.  So he's looking but not too hard and he is almost 67 so jobs are limited for one so old, even though there is no discrimination.  Anyway, I have never worked so I have no experience, skills, or education other than a GED, so it's up to him.  Thank goodness for Social Security!  Okay, see you soon.  That's it for Soonie!  Buh-bye!

Hi, again!  Thanks for all the nice comments.  I had thought I saw some people who had been deleted and had to use a new name and password to get in here.  Anyway, I'm surprised I still remembered my password, heh.  Weight's down some again, all good.  I see the doc this morning, can't wait to see what he says.  I think I'm down about 7 pounds since I saw him last in early May.  I want to get off the diabetes meds and cholesterol meds.  See what he says about that.  And I'm going to take a free day today and eat what I want but won't go too far overboard.  Thanks again. I love your goal of getting off the meds! You can do it! Keep at it. I love your "normal eating and exercise" note below your name on here! NORMAL eating! That is what I have been working on. Not overeting and not undereating. No extremes! That seems to work best for me. I can live with that! I hope your doc will be very pleased with your progress and encourages you further! Rock on sister!

I was just checking to see if I was still able to make entries here and here I am! I thought I would have been deleted by now! I'm sorry to have just cut out and not say anything, I hate when people do that. But, yes, I'm still alive and kicking. And have been working on my weight finally. And making some headway. Too much time has passed to get all caught up now so I won't go into all that. Don't know if I will be back again for good but just wanted to say "Hi". So "Hi"!!

I remember you from years ago. I also disappeared off the radar screen for awhile but I've resurfaced. That's one of the nice things about DD - you can come and go and return again and are always accepted. I hope you will come back and post - even if it's just one or two days a week. To me posting is like therapy - you can express yourself how much or how little that you want. Hope to "see" you again. Great job with the weight loss since your last post. That is FABULOUS!!!!!!

Oops, I'm going the wrong way again! Diet wasn't so good all week and I stopped with the walking because my shin splints hurt so bad I could hardly walk around. They are better now and I did walk a mile twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. I find that they start to hurt at about 1 mile so I just stop and then do more later. Only on Sunday---I didn't. And today we woke up to a steady rain, which is really unusual around here. A nice change. The weather has turned colder too---only 45 this morning and going up to only 60 today. But back up into the 70's later this week. Anyway, no walk today unless I get really ambitious and do the dreadmill. Don't really feel like it but I have lots of work to do. And I will eat better today. Shopped yesterday and got lots of good stuff. Okay, have a nice day. See you soon. Thanks for all the advice. My walking shoes are new but I will try the warm-up exercises.

It's 8:30am and I just finished a 42 minute walk outside. My shins are hurting and my right hip but I made it. I think the shin thing will stop once I get used to this again. I remember years ago when I first started trying to get in shape (I was about 200 pounds) we would walk at the mall and I would have to stop once in awhile because my shins would hurt so bad. I hope this doesn't get that bad. My eating wasn't so good yesterday but I will do better today. That's about it. Have a wonderful day!

I get shin splints too and boyo are mine hurting today after running. What i do is put ice and then tape it up :) USually helps :)

You could try compression socks for your shin splints, maybe that would help. My hip hurts sometimes too when I walk or run, not sure why.

Shin splints usually mean you have the wrong shoes for your gait. Or your shoes are simply worn out. It's worth it to be pain-free!

To condition you shins a bit - make sure you warm them up a little before you walk and in between walks. You can do this several ways but my favorites are patting my foot up and down as if to music over and over, etc. and then doing the wall calf stretch where you rest you hand against the wall and step back with one foot pressing your heel into the ground while pulling your toe toward your shin (toe doesn't leave the ground, of course). The compression socks and checking the fitness of your shoes are great ideas, too. You are right, though- it will pass.

Hey, I'm still here! Sorry it's been so long. Already been to Vegas and our trip was fantastic! We got back Saturday. Now it's back to the grind. It's now 8:45am and I've done a 35 minute walk outside. It was 57 degrees when I left and the sun is shining, perfect for walking outside. As you can see, my weight is up some but actually, it was about 186 before we left so I lost weight in Vegas. We did mucho walking and gambled in 16 different casinos there! Our 2 sons and daugher-in-law were with us from Sunday until Thursday and then it was just hubby and I until Saturday. We won, we lost, we won, we lost, you know how it goes. We saw Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, the new bridge and took a short trip to Red Rock Canyon on Friday. The weather was perfect! My favorite part is the fountains at the Bellagio. Now I'm going to try to get some of this weight off. I keep thinking "what's going to go wrong this time?" Last year was when my back started acting up. It's not perfect now but not too bad. I guess it will never be really 100% again. I must get back to doing my therapy exercises, I'm sure that will help. I've really been a slacker. Okay, that's it. I'm surprised I haven't been deleted from the DD. Happy Halloween! Take care and have a great day!

Okay, it was a real struggle this morning just to get out of bed. First I woke up at 6:30 and my alarm was set for 7, ugh! 15 mins. later I got up, still undecided what I was going to do. I just didn't feel like doing the treadmill. If it was cooler outside I would have gone out for a walk but it was 68 and I like it down to at least 60. With all that sun, 68 degrees is still too hot for me. I thought about just chucking the whole thing and going to the casino for a few hours. So I brushed my teeth, washed my face and got on the scale. I really didn't expect a loss, maybe even a gain. My eating yesterday was kind of weird. First I didn't eat brekky, I was talking to my son in Ohio for almost 2 hours ( we do that sometimes) So after we got off the phone, I decided to make Skyline chili. (I guess it's an Ohio thing, or maybe, just a Cincinnati thing) I had discovered a while back that they carry the chili in my grocery store in a can. Wish I never saw that! Anyway, you make spaghetti then put on some chili and cover it all with grated cheddar cheese and some little crackers. That's called a 3-way. I got hooked on this while living in Cincinnati for 32 years and that is probably a huge cause of all my weight gain. They have it in restaurants there (Skyline or Gold Star) and you can get it for take out. I was doing this A LOT! For the 10 years we've been here, I only had it when  my son would visit and bring me some seasoning packets so I could make my own chili, I could never find it here. Back there, you can even buy it frozen in the stores. Anyway, I had that at about 11:30 and then leftovers at about 3:00. Then later I had a few Doritos, a hard boiled egg and a fresh peach. (at least I had some fruit for the day, heh) Okay, back to the scale......it encouraged me when I saw I was down .6 so I said "okay, I'll do the treadmill". So I did 35 minutes again. And I hope to have a better eating day. My bedroom and bathroom really need cleaning so I have that to keep me busy also. Hope you have a great day. See you soon.

Dang. Not bad. Isn't it funny how a little nudge of encouragement from the scale can get us back on track? Here's hoping I get some soon. Chili with spaghetti sounds like a great idea! Maybe you could do a three way with veggie chili and lowfat cheese?

I've had skyline chili once, when I was visiting my sister in Columbus OH, when she used to live there. It sure was good!

Good for you for getting on the treadmill! You choice to exercise can be one of a series of good choices that fuel other good choices. That's how momentum gets going! Have a good one.
