Well, it looks like the challenge is over and we're starting a new one, maybe tomorrow, I guess. I'm in! I sure need it, although the last one didn't really do me much good, heh. Of course, I could say that if not for that, I could weigh a lot more than I do, lol. I'm way up there and that's my limit. Time to get busy and start losing again. At least I'm honest, stupid, but honest with y'all. I feel like you-know-what. My shorts are tight this morning and I feel like a blimp! Bowling this morning for exercise. I always look forward to that. Yesterday was a really bad day, needless to say. Who's in for the new challenge? Soonie!! Have a good one!

Well, same here - the last two challenges didn't do anything for me either. I think it was geevee who suggested that we add a column to the progress chart showing how much weight each of us has lost during the challenge - easy for her to say! I rejected that proposal outright!

But as you said, if we actually stuck to our goals then we would lose weight, too. Sometimes I feel like we just don't really care enough, you know? But I'm tired of feeling like a failure all the time. I've set myself some relatively easy goals this time so I have no excuse to fail. And neither do you!

Thanks for your comments. I, too, am really looking forward to the next challenge. These past 4 days have not been good. It's hysterical how I've kind of just had a "free for all" this week since the last one is over.

This time, I am actually going to use the flex points system from WW. Over the past 10 years, I have probably spent enough $$ at WW to own part of the co. - ha ha! I never stuck to it because I have always been so embarrassed to be weighed. Especially when I scale moves so slow - I feel like a failure. But, I know the points system works! It's a great program. With DD's and the challenge, I don't' feel like I need to join WW again, at all, but I can follow the system myself. Anyway, I look forward to "competing" and "encouraging" everyone and am so thankful for this group!

Challenge Points for Tuesday, Day 44: 4

Didn't get in any exercise but made all the other goals! It's a start, anyway. I'm feeling kinda punk lately, headaches, sinus congestion, queasy stomach, puffy eyes,soooo tired, so I called the doc's yesterday and they fit me in at 3:00. It seems I may have a sinus infection so she gave me an antibiotic. Hope that clears it up. I've been so very tired too, I could sleep all day, I think. Today I have no plans except to eat right, drink the water and all that. No exercise plan on the horizon though. I do need to go to Super WalMart for some things and will do that after brekky. Maybe I'll get on the bike or treadmill later. I need to wake up! Oh, I did change my weight here and I'm going to do that every day now. That seems to work best for me. It was up to 164.4 yesterday so I'm slowly losing the water weight. You know, when I think about it, I really didn't do that badly while gone on vacation, I didn't really pigout. I just gain so easily! Okay, I'm back on the wagon now (AGAIN!!) and ready to go on. I will NEVER give up!! Have a good one!

You and I both, I will never give up. I think that you body is going through a detox...from the food it was not used to eating maybe. Mine does this when I get back on the wagon...time after time it will do this but I am used to it now.

You know, I also didn't do as badly on my vacation as I have in the past (okay, 2600 calories a day does sound pretty bad, but it's actually an improvement for me - next time I'll aim for 2400)!

Thanks for the comment you left me on my half-marathon! Runner suggested that we start the new challenge on the 1st. What do you think? I'm thinking up a whole new set of goals for myself. Are you just sticking to the same ones as before? Yours were so good that I honestly couldn't see any room for improvement (which is why I found it so funny when you complained that they were "lame")!

Don't worry about your comment. Actually Brian being there for his granddaughter was just my wild imagination at work, I do not know if this will happen. It was actually just my fear that if he came here he would or might drive a wedge between himself and his daughter (mother of pregnant daughter) does this make sense?

He has actually wrote to me and plans are still in effect and he will be here in October but don't worry I don't think I made myself clear in the other entries. He told me that whatever happens he will be here so I must trust this...I am a chronic worrier.

Challenge Points for Monday, Day 43: 2

I made the water and the no eating past 7pm goals. The rest was disaster! I had one veggie and one fruit so I was going to eat 2 veggies and 1 fruit for dinner to make that goal, but just wasn't hungry then. So today is a new day, a new beginning. I was going to get up early to exercise, had my clock set for 6am but didn't make it, slept til after 7 when the DH woke me up. No, it's not what you're thinking either. Anyway, with BTC on my side, I'm ready to start again. It's amazing how easy it is to put the weight back on but I know part of it is water because my ankles have been swollen the last couple of days. My exercise will probably be bowling today by myself. I was going to walk the treadmill early this morning but didn't make that, as I said before. All the junk food is out of the house so I'm ready! Here's a poem I found somewhere, author unknown:

Don't Quit! When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down, And you feel like the biggest failure in town. When you want to give up just because you gave in, and forget all about being healthy and thin. So What! You went over your points (calories) a bit, It's your next move that counts...so don't you quit! It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change. It's learning the skills to get back in your range. It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now. You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow." It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal. You're still gonna make it, just stay in control. To stumble and fall is not a disgrace, If you summon the will to get back in the race. But, often the strugglers, when losing their grip, Just throw in the towel and continue to slip. And learn too late, when the damage is done, that the race wasn't over...they still could have won. Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow, but facing each challenge will help you grow. Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint in a cloud of doubt. When you're pushed to the brink, just refuse to submit, If you bite it, write it...But DON'T YOU QUIT!!

Challenge Points for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 0

And I think today will be the same. Well, I never thought I'd see that number again on the scale but there it is. I know some of it is water weight but I was a naughty Soonie while I was gone. So embarrassing! But no surprise. I never really pigged out or anything but what I ate was not diet-friendly. And I don't drink alcohol at all so that's not it either. I'm taking today off just to regroup. I have a million things to do today. So I will start all over tomorrow. And this is the story of my life. I won a few, lost a few and at least I did still have money left when we left for home. And it is good to be back. Mom and I agreed that 3 nights was too many and 2 nights would have done us just fine. Everything went well though, our flight was only an hour long, the room we had was nice but the slots were mean to us, lol. It was fun though. I wish that I could have done as well as you others who had vacations away from home but that's all water over the dam. So I'll go on from here. I know I should start today but, like I said, I need to rest and regroup. I hope you're all doing better than I am. And have a great Monday!

Made the water goal and the no eating past 7pm goal. I'm just here to say good-bye to you all. I will be leaving later this afternoon since we have to get to the airport 2 hours early now. Challenge Points for Tuesday, Day 37: 1

Weeeelll, I had a really bad day yesterday and today doesn't look much better. The only goal I made yesterday was the no eating past 7pm. Heck, how could I after all I'd eaten during the day! You would think an intelligent person would try to lose as much as possible before the vacation to lessen the damage when I get back! I don't think I'll even weigh tomorrow morning. I'm fat, that's it! Guess I'll be taking my fat clothes with me, lol. I will be leaving for Laughlin, Nevada tomorrow evening at 7:20pt and staying 3 nights at Harrah's, Brian's girl. I had a dream early this morning that I was in a casino by myself and I'd lost my purse! Do you think this is an omen? I'm going to lose all my money? Let's hope not. So I'll probably make a short entry tomorrow morning and then not another until Monday morning. You can probably give me 0 points for the challenge those 3 days, BTC. Lol. Well, not really funny, I guess. I'll let you know when I get back. Okay, gotta go start getting things ready to pack. You all have a good Wednesday! Remember, PATIENCE!

Look at your dream as a warning and be extra careful with your money and not just what is in your purse but what you spend or buy too. I like the saying "trust in GOD and tie up your camel" It seems that there was a very devout religious man who believed that GOD would take care of everything for him since he was so faithful. He believe this so much that he did not tie up his camels at night thinking that GOD would take care of them and they would not run away. Well you know what, they ran away...big surprise. The lesson is Trust in GOD and tie up your camels, The big guy has enough on his plate to worry about the little things too, lol.

Have a great time on vacation and try to minimize the damage but have a good time. Portion control....portion control....portion control, keep saying that.

I know you're on holiday right now (or just about to leave) but I got so fired up after reading the comment you left me. I want to really crank things up over the next two months too! I might not be able to exercise much but I really need to work on my diet. My constant overeating is really getting me down - that same old cycle of making resolutions and failing over and over again. Plus I know I can lose weight if I really try - so what's stopping me? Let's do this together - starting Monday!!

Challenge Points for Monday, Day 36: 3

I got the water in, I did the exercise and no eating past 7pm. I ate way too much and didn't get the fruits and veggies, although I think I had 2 veggies and 1 fruit so I did have some, at least. Of course the veggies were refried beans on my 2 tostadas. I think I've found finally that I should never have certain things in the house---namely, almonds and tostada fixins. So hit me in the head with a can of refried beans, lol. I get it! Yesterday I was doing well. Went to the gym, worked for an hour, I was so tired before I even got there, I had a hard time keeping awake on the drive over and back! And I had a good night's sleep. DH thinks it may be my blood pressure is too low. Anyway, I just did 2 miles of walking on the track and some weights. Then I came home and showered and ate. And ate. And ate. And napped. And then ate some more, and even more later. I truly don't know where it all fits. I always do this when I'm leaving on a vacation soon. Doesn't make sense but I look at as since I can't make my goal by the time I leave, I may as well give up for now. How stupid! So anyway, today will be just running around, have an appointment for eyebrow waxing, need to get to Super WalMart, get to the bank for gambling money, things like that. Need to do some house cleaning too. No gym, no other exercise planned. I'm just not doing it! Okay, hope you're all doing better than I am. Have a good Tuesday!

I am learning too that there are things I just CANNOT have in my house or I will eventually eat them. My weakness is sweets; ice cream, cupcakes etc. Sounds like you are excited to be heading out on vacation!! I hope you have a wonderful time!

I have way too many days like this!!! Well, try to make the best of the day even though you really don't feel like it. I find that when I push myself harder to go to the gym, I feel that much more accomplished than if I had wanted to go to the gym in the first place.

I hate it when I have that give up feeling and then just figure, oh well I blew it so might as well continue. I am trying to curb this type of attitude but it still gets the better of me at times. Brian does not eat totally raw like I do but he is interested in doing this with me, not totally but some.

Brian is told all the time that he looks 30 years younger than he really is and that he never ages, his father was like that...age 90 and not hardly any wrinkle. He also has good genes I think.

Have a fantastic vacation, when do you go? and where again?

Hmm, yes, I always get like that right before a vacation, too. What is it with us? I leave on Saturday so Friday is going to be really tough for me. My excuse is generally that I need to "get rid" of anything perishable before we leave - even when we're just leaving for two days! It's ridiculous.

Well, at least it looks like you'll be getting plenty of exercise rushing around taking care of last-minute stuff before you leave!

Challenge Points for Sunday, Day 35: 5

That's much better! I really need to keep that up cause I'm sure I won't be able to while away in Laughlin later this week. We leave Thursday evening, just Mom and me. I can't wait. No cooking, no cleaning, just whatever we feel like doing, and I'm sure that will include a lot of gambling, heh! But, guess what! There is a McDonald's right in the hotel where we're staying! I'm sure I will be getting the salads there, right? Oh, Soonie, I think you're doomed! And there's a Baskin Robbins there too, right next to the McDonald's! But I will try to keep it at a minimum. With that thought in mind, I must keep on track the next 4 days. I'm already dressed for the gym today and I will do a good workout. Yesterday we bowled 5 games, just the DH and I. That was my exercise. I really didn't feel like even going but we did. Then we went to Applebee's for lunch. I had the cajun lime talapia, pretty good for 6 points. It includes rice and veggies. Drank water. Then we stopped at McDonald's for a small vanilla cone, another 3 points. I needed dessert and WW dessert at Applebee's was $4.50 for a small slice of raspberry chocolate cake! Not! The dinner was expensive enough. And I was good the rest of the day, 24 points altogether. I did take a 2 hour nap after we got home. I just felt blah all day and I fell right to sleep so I guess I needed it. I do feel thinner around the belly this morning. Official weighin on Thursday morning. Okay, you all have a great start to the week. I'll see ya tomorrow!

I just caught up on your entries and am sending you a big *HUG* and am keeping my fingers crossed for you on your official weigh-in. And, if I don't drink enough water in the day and workout, I feel nauseated during my cardio. Or if I don't eat enough prior to exercising, I feel sick and weak as well. That's why I eat dinner before I workout, give my body some fuel to work with while it is eating up fat. lol

I'm on a last-minute "diet spree" before my trip away this weekend too! I bet you're going to do better than I am, in spite of the strategic location of the McDonald's and the Baskin Robbins. Just go easy and don't overdo it. That's going to be my motto too - I'm not going to bother trying to diet on holiday, because I know it won't happen, but I'll just try to eat like a normal person. A normal, sensible person - that just doesn't sound like me, somehow!

Challenge Points for Saturday, Day 34: 1

Oops, what the heck was I thinking? I just took the whole day off from everything!! No counting, no exercise, no water, no veggies and fruits! Not the way to go! And, of course, now I feel like a big fat slug! I feel like an alcoholic---either I eat lots and lots of food, all the wrong kinds, or I can eat nothing at all. But that's impossible. I was telling the DH, I'm just meant to be fat, that's all there is to it. I just can't do this. I've been on the DD for over 6 years now, yep, 6 long years, and here I am, still the same!! Okay, this is a downer and I'm sorry. I did get in the pool yesterday and paddle around with my snorkel and mask on but I'm not counting that as exercise. It was mostly laying in the sun. Today is bowling this morning, that's exercise, but I don't even feel like doing that! Well, I'll try for a better day but we'll see. Have a good one!

I feel the same way. I know you don't think I'm fat, but that's where I'm headed. Sorry, didn't mean to join in your pity party! I've been thinking a lot about how you said that at least you've been maintaining your weight. That's a good way to look at it, I think. Most people wouldn't be "the same" after six years - they'd be a lot heavier. These days, just staying the same is quite an accomplishment!

Sometimes I think it's good to take a day off and eat whatever I feel like. I'm always more willing to get back on track with healthy eating after that! BTW, I didn't get to comment before but I love your outfit in the pictures below. Wonderful colors, you look so adorable!

Challenge Points for Friday, Day 33: 5

Give that lady a star! Well, it was a struggle but I made it. I sneaked a little peek at the scale this morning and guess what! It was exactly the same, heh. Oh, well, when you don't stay consistent, as Pastagal used to say, it just doesn't work. So I need more star days. And today I just don't feel like it, although I still haven't eaten breakfast yet and it's already almost 10am. Usually I eat at 9. Starting to get hungry though. I don't know how Geevee does it. Years ago I didn't even eat breakfast but now, I don't miss a single meal and sometimes add a few, lol. I'm thinking of taking the day off from exercise, I forgot to look and see how many days in a row I have exercised lately. I'm just feeling lazy today but there are so many things to do around here. Blah! Maybe the ambitious bug will bite me later on. I just talked to #1 son and he and his wife are coming out to visit us in October. I'm footing the bill, that was the only way I could get them to commit to come. Since I had paid my #2 son's airfair last time, I thought it was the least I could do for them. I haven't seen them in over 5 years! That's way too long. Looking forward to it, to say the least. Oh, almost forgot, I went to the gym yesterday and worked out for about 70 minutes, 2 miles of walking on the track and the rest was 9 weight exercises. Felt so good! I still get that queasy feeling though while doing the weights but I slow down and breathe and that helps. Do any of you experience that? I'm back taking the Nexium now and it does seem to help some. Okay, gotta go. My stomach thinks my throat's been cut, heh. Brekky time. Have a good Saturday!

Haha, I know exactly what you mean. I never used to have breakfast and usually didn't have lunch either. Now I wake up counting the minutes until I can eat, haha!

My parents always pay for me to go visit them too, especially when they're living far away (they're always moving around). I'm sure you will have a lovely time with your son and his wife in October.

Good for you, working out for 70 minutes like that. I'm impressed! You're doing great. Unlike me!

P.S. Don't let that nasty scale get to you. It's trying to trick you!

Funny you mention the breathing, because I get through my walks so much better if I breath correctly. I used to hear the people on the tapes say breath and I would think, "If I stop, I certainly can't finish this," but once you learn what they are actually talking about, it helps.
