Gooooood morning!! How are you all doing this fine day? I'm doing pretty well, as you can see by the new weight. But I do keep asking myself that question "How long is this gonna last?" I've started and stopped so many times before. Shut up, little voice! This time, I'm doing it! I had my fourth prolotherapy treatment Friday (18 injections around the spine) and I'm feeling pretty good today. Still kinda sore there but getting better. I really need to start back with my physical therapy exercises today. They concentrate on strengthening the core and abs for better back support. I'm hoping this will be my last treatment but if I need more, of course, I will do it. I've had a sore big toe the last couple of weeks which makes it hard to wear shoes. I went to the podiatrist last Monday and he said I may lose the nail. I tell ya, if it's not one thing, it's another! Anyway, today I may try to do some walking on the treadmill. If I can't do that, I will do the recumbant bike. So far the pool isn't warm enough to get into. I have some therapy exercises to do in there also. It's still getting cool at night so the little bit of warm it gets in the day goes away overnight. We have a solar heater and everyday is sunny so soon, it will get warm enough. It's usually by the end of May. Our temps will be dropping back into the 70's later this week so great weather here and we haven't had to crank up the AC yet at all. I love it when I can open the doors and windows in the morning and let in fresh air. 88 today so I will have to close it up later. Okay, I'm rambling. You all have a great day and a successful week.

Okay, I'm off to another start. 3 1/2 pounds gone again. I know, the first few are quick and then, it gets tougher. So I'm doing well. Not exactly counting calories but I know what I should eat and not eat. I haven't done a lot of exercise yet--10 minutes treadmill on Monday, 10 minutes twice of walking and 10 minutes on the recumbant bike on Tuesday and 10 minutes of walking on the treadmill at PT on Wednesday. I'll try to do better this week. My treadmill is in my bedroom, the weather has turned hotter and we haven't turned on the AC yet so kind of warm in there right now for the exercise. I'm doing my PT exercises haphazardly also. I need to get more of that in also. And the pool is warming up so I will be getting out there soon too. I go for my fourth prolotherapy injections this Friday for my back so I will be sore from that for 4 or 5 days after. I can really see a lot of improvement now when I remind myself of how I was doing a couple of months ago. And the PT stresses the need for stronger abs to give support to my back which we all need. Okay, that's it for now. I'll keep you posted.

Congrats on the loss. It's good that you are starting slowly with exercise. Even 10 minutes several times will get results. Keep it up!

Hey, it's been a long time! I'm ready to start over again now. The weight has really gone up. I got up and did 10 minutes of walking on my treadmill at 2 mph!! My right hip burned the whole time but my back felt fine. I'm seeing some improvement in my back and leg since I started physical therapy for it 2 weeks ago. I guess the rest of my body is just so out of shape and not used to exercise. So it complains. I'm going to do more later. Maybe if I just do 10 minutes at a time, it won't be so bad at first.  Anyway, it's a start. I will turn 62 on Wednesday and I can see myself getting just like my Mother. She can barely walk and has a lot of pain and she is overweight also. I don't want to follow in her footsteps and suffer the rest of my life. She is only 80. I know, that is old but I know a lot of women that age and older who are still able to get around and enjoy life. I think it all depends on lifestyle. So here I am. On to a better life. I hope you all are safe and happy. Okay, I'm going to go read some entries from you all. It's been a long, long time.

Good to see your name--80 is nothing (isn't it the new 50 or something:-) Seriously I used to see this lady in my neighborhood walking and I thought she was in her 70s--I'd chit-chat with her from time to time, but never really thought much about her age. It turns out she was 92 years old--I didn't ask her and she didn't tell me, I found out a few months ago after she landed in the hospital. I was absolutely shocked. Her face, her pace while walking--nothing belied the fact that she was not about 70!

Anyway, try to do what you can--one day at a time (as pastagal used to say). You "sound" good Soonie!

I wasn't going to make a new entry today but with the new system, I guess that's the only way to view my comments from the last one. If there's another way, please let me know. That's what happens when you don't keep up regularly. Still no sign of weightloss for me but I'm not suprised. I had my third treatment yesterday for my back problem---19 injections not counting the 2 do-overs. My hubby watched him do the first one. He said the needle is about 4 inches long and he put about 3 inches of that into my lower back. So I'm pretty sore today but I have faith that this will work. Also I will start PT in 2 weeks. My sister said that really helped her shoulder after the prolotherapy treatments. Anyway, that's it for me for now. I really need to start eating more healthy, that will also help the healing. So now I will go on to read my comments from my last entry, hopefully. Have a great day!

PS--I hope to start the walks again soon. That will only help my back situation, I'm sure. Also, my sister did really well on the HCG and highly recommends it. She weighed about 157 when she started and lost down to 135 in 55 days. She is keeping it off by having a steak or apple day when her weight goes up a little. She is not taking the HCG anymore though. Once you get to goal, you stop taking it but it keeps working, I guess, as far as keeping it off. Of course, she has to keep track of her weight and try not to eat bad things too often, as usual. She keeps telling me I should try it.

Hey, here I am once again. And it's been a long time. My weight is up and I'm not really working on it right now. Still having the back problems and pain. Having another Prolotherapy treatment next Monday, the third one. Hopefully, I will start to see some results. In the mean time, I have been having accupuncture and laser treatments. The weather here is getting really warm, tomorrow a high of 94, they say. Then another slight cool down to 79 Monday for a high. I'm sure not ready for the summer! But I think I'm at about the same as last summer. Bummer!! I know it has been up to me and I'm going to regret not working harder through the winter. I hope you're all doing well. I'm coming up on my 11 year membership with the DD on April 3, I think. I hope I'm not too much of a downer for you all. Hang in there! I will.

Good morning! How are things going for you all? I'm doing okay, still having back and leg pain and not doing very much in the way of moving around. But I'm not sitting very long at a time either. I keep wondering if this pain will ever go away. I want my life back! I went for accupuncture and laser treatment this week. When I called my doctor on Wednesday morning to complain about the pain, he said accupuncture and laser would help with the healing and pain. So far, NOT! I guess it will just take time but all this not doing much is killing me. At least my diet has been better. Still avoiding the sugar and aspartame, TRYING to eat good things. I could do better though. Baby steps! How many times have I typed that here?! Haha! I keep telling myself if I could just lose 25 pounds it would be great. That shouldn't be too hard, right? When I see what some of you here have been doing, it gives me hope. Right now, I'm waiting for hubby to wake up so we can go out to brekky and then to my sister's house to check on her 2 cats. She's gone to Laughlin for 4 days, lucky girl. For those of you who don't know, Laughlin is like a small Las Vegas. Anyway, I'm cat sitting. So we will go there after brekky. I don't know where we will go to eat but I will try to keep it good. And I'm going for a lighter-eating day today since I was down to 174.6 yesterday and I need to keep the numbers going down, not up. Although I know that's how it usually goes, up and down. So anyway, I think I did okay this week. I'm going to try for some light, slow walkiing this week. Our weather will be warming back up to normal. We had some temps in the teens last week in the mornings. We are so not used to that! They called a state of emergency here in Tucson. I'm sure some of you could laugh at that. I did since I'm from Ohio and was used to those temps. But after being here for 10 years now, I'm a softy like everyone else here. Oh, well, I hope the weather's nice where ever you are. Yes...baby steps...they count more than a lot of people realize. Those little choices and decisions really mean a lot in the way of progress. Sorry to hear about your back and leg pain and hope you are soon feeling much better, Soonie. That is outstanding that you are able to stay away from sugar and aspartame, not an easy thing to do at all. Wow, 174.6 since Wednesday beinga t 177.4 is FANTASTIC. Sounds like you're on a roll...keep it going! :-D The light, slow walking sounds like a good plan. :-)

There are a few of us doing baby steps. That 25 pound starts with your next meal. I know that it is hard to be focused on healthy eating when you are in pain but eating unhealthy food is not going to help. So at least you can do something to help your body by feeding it good healthy food. You have had a great week, well done on your loss, keep up the great work.:)

Accupuncture seemed to work very well for my brother - I think it took a little while though. I hope you find some relief soon! Baby steps is good - as long as there are steps of any size, progress will be made!

Hi....Yes I use to live in Anchorage, Alaska. I moved down here about 5 years ago to be close to my mother. Which ended up being a good thing. I am trying my best to get the weight off and to keep it off. I am just going to take one day at a time. Hope you have a great Valentine's Day my friend. Hugs.....:)

Just checking in. It's been a long time. I'm still here. Not doing really well, but could be worse. Still no exercise, my back problem is still here. It's really bad sciatica and my left leg is where most of the pain is. So that leaves most exercising out for now. I'm going for a new kind of treatment tomorrow, finally. I don't know if I mentioned it here before but it's called prolotherapy (google it, if you're interested) My sister has had 4 treatments on her torn rotater cuff (they said she needed surgery) and she is doing really well now, with no surgery. They said I didn't need surgery so that just left me with pain meds and epidurals, which do not cure the problem. So I'm going to try this treatment for now. We have to drive to Scottsdale in the early morning from here, appointment's at 9am so we have to leave by 6 or so. Not looking forward to it. I'm not an early morning person lately. Still thinking about the diet though. Stocked up on frozen Lean Cuisines the other day but have been eating out a  lot. I was surprised when I got on the scale this morning, I thought it would be a lot worse. Must be the pain burning more calories, ya think? Okay, that's it. Sorry I'm not more motivating or motivated right now. Summer will be here before we know it. It sort of sneeks up on us, right? I sure don't want to go through another fat summer but then, I say that every year. How depressing! Whatever will be, will be, is my thinking right now. One day at a time and all that. I'll try to keep y'all posted. Have a great day!

Good luck on the treatment. I hit the sciatic nerve a while back myself, playing Wii frisbie for two hours (Note to self - you can't twist like an 18 year old when you are 60). Mine is slowly improving, but it does limit exercise stuff. Hope that works for you.

I will google it...I have struggled with back problems for years - usually I can tolerate the pain (think I've just grown accustomed to it) but I always know when it's going to flare - the middle toe on my left foot will go numb, this is my warning to stop any and all exercise...The past year or so, it has gotten to where now it radiates down the right side as well. Been living on pain meds and muscle relaxers (to help me sleep, has a nerve block in it...) Would just as soon get off the drugs. Hope it works for you!

Hey there, everyone!  I'm still here!  But now I'm back to square one.  I guess I could use the excuse that I'm having a problem with my back now.  I have a ruptured disc in my lower back and the pain is so bad.  It goes all the way down my left leg.  I am on some meds for it but one of them says it causes weight gain, especially for those diabetics that take certain meds for it.  So that's me.  But my eating has been atrocious and there is no exercise at all.  I need to regroup (again) and get going with whatever I am able to do.  I need to get the good foods in the house and stick to eating them only.  I know what I need to do I just need to do it.  I'm going to try a doc that does treatments that may heal the disc and make it go back where it belongs.  So I will keep you posted and I will try harder to do what I have to do.  After letting myself go, it is so hard to turn it all around.  But I''ve done it before, I need to do it now.  Take care and I'll see you all soon.  Hang in there!

You're right, it's so hard to get started, but once you're there you'll feel better i'm sure. A ruptured disc sounds very painful, I hope that doc you try will be able to help you out with it. Good luck today!

Owie. I have a pinched sciatic nerve in my lower back, similar symptons at times. So I understand your pain. It is hard to walk/exercise etc. when you hurt. Hope the doc can come up with something for you.

It's so hard to focus on good eating when you feel terrible and in pain. I have back problems too, although definitely not as bad as you at the moment. Having the proper foods in the house is a great step to make. Hang in there!

Well, I did end up going all the way back up to 178.6 but now I'm back down a little again. I hate all this up and down stuff and how I just can't seem to keep up the down part for very long. But I'm back at it again. It wil be sort of difficult over the holidays but I'm going to do the best I can, as I always say. What else can you do? I already made a turkey and all the fixin's yesterday just for us (son, hubby and I) (son is back living with us again *sigh*) anyway, he bought the turkey. I just ate a small portion of everything, just nuked the sliced sweet potatoes with no additions on them and we discovered that sweet potatoes are awesome in their own right! And so good for you too. Also, no pie for dessert. So I didn't do too badly and was down 8 tenths of a pound this morning from yesterday's weight of 177. I can do this, holidays or not. We go to my sister's for Thanksgiving, only that will be on Sunday, she has to work on Thursday. I will bring the green bean casserole, cranberry-cherry pie and fruit salad. Okay, that's it for me. You all have a great Thanksgiving, those of you in the ole US of A. See you soon.

Thank you for your sweet comment to my journal. I agree with you...sweet potatoes are wonderful without anything added onto them! I used to bake mine but now I mic' them and they come out just as well as baked! I do put a light coating of margerine on the outside of the potato skin, which is peeled off after they are done and I eat them plain. They are reasonable in calories and so nutritious, too! Yes, it is quite a battle of not giving in to temptation to get down to the size you want to be but you can do it. It simply takes commitment. Get a pair of jeans that are the size you want to be and make notes weekly or so of how they fit you and the weight you were when you tried them on and the date and put that in the pocket of them...wait a week or so and do it again and make another note again to go into the pocket, which my notes even included when I couldn't even pull them up over my hips...and when I could finally pull them up (took months), I kept up with the notes that included my guess of how many inches they lacked of fastening...then after I could fasten them, my notes included how comfy (or not as in too tite) they fit. This really helped me to see the progress I was making in slowly getting back to the size I felt best at. Finally one day, I was wearing my size 8 no-stretch jeans! Hope this helps! Good morning! Well, I didn't lose much this week but at least, it's something. I started out walking a little on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but that was it. I got busy the rest of the week. We are playing cards at our house today with two other couples so I was busy cleaning and preparing yesterday. We go out to lunch and then come back to our house, play some cards (Hand and Foot Canasta), have some dessert (pumpkin bundt cake and ice cream) and play more cards. We also have a few snacks so we don't starve but that's okay, we don't eat dinner. I will try to be good and restrain myself. I have lots of fruit for snacks. Okay, you all have a great day.
