Hey, I'm still here!! Vacation is over and Maui was beautiful! We got back last Friday. So now it's time to get serious with the weightloss. I have gained some but not as much as I would have thought since I was eating lots of fried fish and ice cream on the vacation. Love that Bubba Gumps! We went there 4 times! Oh, well. I'm feeling lots better now but still have the cough. The Valley Fever test was negative and my chest x-ray was clear. I have most of my energy back and we did lots of walking in Maui. I even did over a mile yesterday here on my street. It's a start. Will get back out there again this evening. The weather here is really nice now---highs of 80's and lows of 50's. Perfect! Just got back from a laser treatment on my back, it's doing well. So how are you all doing? I will go do some checking up on you now. Have a good one!

Just had to post that new weight. What a surprise this morning! I been sick, *sigh*. The last 2 weeks have been really bad. First, 2 weeks ago today, I went to the weightloss clinic for the HCG diet. They gave me the instructions, the HCG, and a vitamin B-12 shot ( okay, I paid for it, they didn't give it to me). So, Wednesday morning I started the drops and the "loading" days, where you eat as much as you want, anything you want, as much fat as possible. Also woke up with my tonsils swollen and a sore throat. I thought, okay, it will probably be gone tomorrow and proceded. Next day, it was worse. I didn't really feel like eating that much but kept trying. Friday, I said, enough of this and went to my doctor. Ended up in the ER cause they thought I was having a heart attack! Really though, the pain of my sore throat and lack of brekky made me light-headed, nauseaus and I broke out in a sweat. They hooked me up to the EKG and thought there was an abnormality so sent me to the ER. Sheesh! I was there for hours, still didn't know what I was sick with but my heart was just fine. They sent me home with strong Ibuprophen and Vicodin. My doctor had prescribed Tamiflu but figured it might not work since I was into the third day of it. I took it anyway. Next day I had developed a really bad cough. I mean it kept me up all night for a week after, not much sleep, but finally now, it is starting to go away. I'm still weak and tired and my right ear is shut. Saw the doc's assistant yesterday and she said I have Reactive Airway Disease. This sounds really bad but she said it just sounds that way, not really serious. Something to do with allergic reaction. So she put me on Singulair and an inhaler. So far, still the same. Needless to say, I quit the HCG long ago and will maybe save it for when we get back from Maui. It's good for 60 days after you mix it up. We leave 2 weeks from Thursday. Needless to say, I am hoping to be better by then and that the hub doesn't come down with it before then. (BTW, our 42nd wedding anniversary today, big whoop, just another day around here!) So that's my story. Wonder if I will keep wasting away. I don't have much appetite but still sometimes eat things that are not diet friendly. Trying to eat the fruits and such to build me back up. Need to get some vitamins, I guess. Okay, time for some OJ.

So apart from all that life has been pretty good then!!! Goodness gracious, what a performance, I bet you didn't know what was going on, scary stuff. Congratulations on your anniversary, that is really something worth celebrating!! I am sorry that you are not celebrating with special. I hope you get back to your full health soon. Have a good day.

Boy, quite the entry! Sorry you spent so much time in ER but, overall, it sounds like you're getting back on track health wise. Sure hope so. DO celebrate that incredible anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to you and your Hubby! Congrats on your new lower number! Sorry to hear you've been sick and glad that you are finally getting over it. Try not to overdo and get plenty of rest...maybe fix some chicken soup and have that. Just try to take it easy. Glad you were able to do an update. :-)

My weight is still the same. No progress this week except I did do the treadmill 4 times. Just 30 minutes each time and only up to 2.8mph for 5 minutes. It does seem to be getting easier. I also walked in the pool for 10 minutes backward but only 3 times this week. Soon the water will be too cold to do this. We're still getting temps in the 90's and I think our monsoon season is over so we have sunny skies. Okay, I'll try to do better this week. Only six weeks until Maui. See you soon. Have a good one!

Nothing wrong w/maintenance. You've been doing great with the treadmill. Glad you're feeling the difference. I'm sure you'll see the difference soon! :)

Sorry I'm so late today. I had to get labs done this morning and then forgot to get on here with the new weighin results. Blah! This is going much too slowly! I did get on the treadmill one morning this week and I didn't have the chest pain problem so I know it's just an afternoon thing, and I only did 2.0 mph up to 2.6 mph and then back down for a total of 30 minutes. Oh, where, oh where has the old Soonie gone?? I used to do at least 3.0 up to 3.6mph easily! (and I know even that isn't that fast) I feel old and all used up, heh. So I will try harder to fit in more walking this week. My sister is going to try HCG, she went to a diet clinic this morning and she's all hepped up about it. It sounds good if it works and I told her she could be the guinea pig so we could all see if it works for her. I don't know if I will try it or not though. But I sure need something! I'm going to make sure any appointments I make from now on are in the afternoon so I get my walk done first thing in the morning. There has just been too many things going on in my mornings to get it done. And I have heard of the changing up the calories thing everyday, Moogy, maybe I will try that also. I only had 1035 calories yesterday! Today I have indulged a little too much but will get back into it tomorrow for sure. It is getting easier to say "no". Only 7 weeks to Maui and I'm starting to panic! Did I say that last week?! If things don't change I will be just sitting around like a lump the whole time I am there! Gah, even when I thought I was in bad shape (165) I was in better shape than I am in now. What a thought! See you  soon.

I feel the same way you do about exercise - I "used to" be able to do more, go faster, endure longer. But we all have to deal with where we are today, and improve. We can both get back to where we were!! Hang in there.

A week sure goes by quickly! Well, here I am again, only down 2 tenths of a pound. I really thought it would be better this week. I did a lot better than last week and some nights, I went to bed hungry. One day I only had 960 calories! I've been staying at or less than 1200 calories a day. But no exercise again although I've been really busy everyday. I got on the treadmill one day and managed to do 20 minutes at 2 mph. Another day only 5 minutes. I was getting a tightness in my upper chest and neck and it was pretty uncomfortable. I was doing this in the afternoon so tomorrow I'm going to try early in the morning and see if this makes a difference. I guess I have to remember that I'm 61 and post-menapausal and I haven't been doing this for quite some time so my body is sluggish. But, really, only 2 tenths of a pound?? So I will kick it up another notch this week. Only 8 weeks until Maui!! And how are you all doing? See you soon.

I was wondering if you are eating enough calories to lose weight. I know it sounds funny but sometimes our bodies don't give up the fat if we eat a low calorie diet, and you are eating a low number. I have a suggestion that works for me I would have a couple of low cal days mixed amoungst higher cal days 1500, and then in the middle 1400. It means the body never know what it is getting and will start to lose weight. I know you want to get down because of your trip, maybe this would help. Anyway, I wish you all the good luck in the world.

Weeeeell, a step in the right direction but such a tiny step!! Really, with all my negative thinking (I just know I didn't lose any this week), I'm surprised I lost any at all, even though I think I did better this past week than the one before. So the plan is to do even better this week. I need to try to add in some exercise and since I'm doing better with my back pain, that will be the plan. But I won't overdo it. Okay, have a great day. I'll keep you posted.

Soooo, I'm doing pretty good. I know I could really crack down and eliminate some things I shouldn't be eating, but I don't want to feel deprived. I'm staying at around 1200 calories everyday, more or less. So I'm hoping for a good weigh-in tomorrow. At least a pound anyway. I'm feeling slightly less bloated but I have all that fat in my omentum (if you know Dr. Oz, you know what that is) and I look kind of like I'm 9 months pregnant. I HATE THAT!!! I'm still working some on my arms and I do see some improvement in my back pain. I have another treatment today later. My stamina is really low and I get out of breath doing the least things, like taking a shower. So I'm going to get back to the treadmill ASAP. Thanks for all the input here, nice to know someone feels my pain, heh. I know I can do this but sometimes it feels so impossible, ya know? I'll update the new weight (I hope) tomorrow. At least I'm doing well at staying off the scale except the once a week. Have a wonderful day!

Hey, how are you all doing? I could say I'm doing better than last week so I will, heh. I did well all day on Thursday and Friday until dinner time and then ate some things I shouldn't have. But yesterday was better than last Saturday. I had about 1300 calories and, for me, that's really good for a Saturday. So I'm improving gradually. Now the next four days I must be more strict. And no exercise yet. My pain is slightly improving but I'm still using the ibuprofen a couple of times a day. It does help. This pain is my lower back, going into my left buttock and down my left thigh. It feels like the muscle in there just grabs tightly when I sit down or stand up and is excruciating for a few seconds and then settles into a dull ache. I've only had 2 treatments so far this time and will do Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week. So I should be doing a lot better by next weekend, I hope. It's really hard for me to lose weight without the exercise but I know I just have to watch my calories and eat the right things. You know, I was doing six small meals but that just didn't work out for me. It wasn't always convenient. So now I'm just doing the best I can. I hope you're all doing well and have a great Sunday!

Good to have you back. We can only do the best we can, I am sure that if you watch your calories and exercise when your pain allows you will see a difference - if may take longer than you want but it will happen.

Good morning! The weight is down a tad and I'm happy with that since I have done no exercise and only ate really well the past few days. My back has just gotten gradually worse and worse this week and I have an appointment today to get the lazer therapy done and also one for tomorrow. I had an appointment Tuesday but had to cancel it since the pain was so bad and I was so nauseated I couldn't get there. I guess I just waited too long to get the maintainance treatment, I should have gone last week. So I will discuss that with the technician. I know the treatments really work. They don't cure it but help get rid of the pain. I will be taking Mom to the back surgeon tomorrow for her so maybe I can see what he thinks of this lazer treatment. He had reviewed my MRI awhile back and said I didn't need to see him, there was nothing he could do for me then, I didn't need surgery. Anyway, I have done no exercise, I'm lucky I can even get out of bed and walk, heh. I'll try to do better with the eating this week and maybe after a few lazer treatments I will be able to get around better and begin some walking on the treadmill again. Before I dreaded it and now that I can barely walk, I wish I could get on the treadmill again.  Go figure! Thanks for all the comments and I will keep you posted. 10 weeks to Maui!!

I hope you will be free of your pain soon. Well done with the weight loss. Sounds as if you are going to need to keep regular sessions of your treatment so you don't end up in a mess. We don't appreciate how wonderful it is to be pain free until we are in serious ongoing pain do we.?

Okay, let's start all over! Back up to 179.8 this morning. Blaaah! I don't think I've been doing so bad but haven't been exercising again. My back is acting up again. I think it's from the leg exercises I did in the pool the other day. And now my left ankle keeps going out on me. I sprained it really bad back in 2003 and it's just reminding me now I guess. So 11 weeks from today I leave for Maui. I sort of don't even want to go but I figure it will probably be our last time. We've been there 3 times before. And things aren't going so well with us, ya know? I'm kind of dreading it, besides all this extra weight I've put on. But the plane reservations are made and I can't back out now. So..... I'm taking Mom to the casino today so must finish getting ready to go. Have a great day!

Are you writing down everything you are eating together with the calories it contains? If not start now, Maui is calling. If you are putting on weight something is getting into your mouth that you are not counting or remembering. If you start being accountable to yourself and if you let us know by writing it down here, you will lose weight!! Hope you recover quickly from the pain.
