I had my second w coaching call last night.......so far I've chosen 2 different ladies and they were both very nice.........I will keep on scheduling different coaches to keep my momentum up.......this does motivate me....no more being a wise eater all day and then messing it all up at night......this keeps me motivated to stop that....it is also keeping me exercising....because they ask about that...they actually want me to do less but I'm not doing anything for more than 15 minutes each...so we agreed it would be okay as long as I wanted to do that....I told them if I only ecxercised a few days a week then i would just keep making excuses to restart...so they understand that...and agree that small bursts of 2 or 3 different things ( currently, exercycle, resistance bands and lightest kettle bell).....will be okay...and especially spread out during the day....They both thought it was funny that I like recording and counting my foods.....LOL....they are shocked when I say it is my favorite thing.

Breakfast = banana, 1 coffee, cracklin oat bran and 2% milk

Lunch = mixed lettuce with vidalia onion dressing, smoked sausage with yellow peppers and tomatoes, toasted english muffin with butter, built bar, perrier water

Dinner = perrier water, Annies rice pasta with 1/2 pkt cheese, fruit and nut bar and a sweet and salty bar, dried apples, veggie straws

Horn_of_plenty on 06/07/2019:
i didn't even know that your fave thing is to record and count food! oh!

It's a beautiful day here in the Michigan State Forrest..........It will be peaceful until tomorrow when the motorcycles, quad runners and people who want to see how fast their cars can go arrive.....Monday thru Thursdays the amish move around freely with their horse and buggys........and silence is golden....not so much Fridays through sundays...when it gets crazy........Since we live near the AuSable River...the canoers arrive and fill the town area so weekends here are for the downstaters.....Monday thru thursdays are for the residents........LOL

2 of D's test results came back good...which is a relief in both cases.......2 more "invasive" tests to go later this month...and some drs appts......my guess is that the diagnosis will be kidney/bladder stones....but will have to wait and see........

WW is going really well...having the personal coach has turned out to be the answer.......not that she actually educates me on anything.....but that I am accountable to her...and I needed that....( D and I tried me being accountable to HIM back many years ago...and I got mad at HIM )  LOL.....he now cheers me on from affar...LOL.....

Currently riding the exercycle and using resistance bands......and knowing that the coach knows that fact...keeps me working towards getting that done....Got the exercise equipment back to the basement where I'm no longer using some of it for clothes hangers.......I will be adding some other things to that daily habit.  Nice to have the bedroom back without tripping over that stuff. I'm working on making an exercise area downstairs that will be a lot more inviting.

Breakfast was 1 cup coffee and a banana

mid morning = orange, built bar and nature Valley fruit and nut bar

Lunch = mixed greens salad, tomatoes, onion dressing and 2 lite mozzarella sticks, strawberries

Dinner = banana, multigrain sandwich thin, salami, mustard

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/06/2019:
beautiful road thanks for sharing...is that your highway!?

being accountable is really the whole thing...and staying on track with it!

BearCountryGG on 06/06/2019:
It' our road but this part is blacktop...we are on the gravel.

and i'm glad D's test results are ok so far :) man my dad had a kidney stone and was NOT a happy camper!

BearCountryGG on 06/06/2019:
Very painful for sure.....so far they have ruled out bleeding and cancer for the kidneys and bladder...will see how the rest goes....

It's been a rough couple of days since I posted my own diary last.........D has started having some health issues ( besides the hip)....that required a quick trip to a walk in clinic and resulted in a couple of tests..(4 more appts yet)..more to come this month...and a couple more different drs visits this month.......waiting on the specialist call......so far so good...so they will keep looking for a diagnosis......Also I did what i swore I would never do again.....I rejoined WW 7 days ago.........( weird I know...but way too many past restarts resulted in medical issues with other family members at the very moment ( within the first week)...where a huge roadblock was put before me by....My Mom passing, my father in law needing round the clock care in the hospital where they were not allowed to restrain him so family had to be there to control his behavior....and now D)  It's so weird.....but I'm not letting others health issues stop me this time...( and D is all for me rejoining WW....just a coincidence that he had a medical emergency)....I'm not attending meetings because they are so far away.......I'm going with the personal Coach this time and so far so good........these last pounds are always tough and I know this will help....and talking to the coach does give me someone to be accountable to........I accept it will be slow going....but determined to see this through........It is funny....they really can't give me any specific info because I am so familiar with the program.......so we just chat and they apparently can see my exercise....at least that is what my coach says....not sure about food and points and weight.....but I like that they will keep me on my toes.....Back in the day....the meetings kept me on point....and they are working that way again........

Donkey on 06/05/2019:
Whatever D is enduring, I hope the doctors can figure it out and help him. SOON! I'm sorry to hear this news.

If WW helps, go for it - no matter how many times! I love the idea of a personal coach. What a great idea! A one-on-one approach is sometimes more effective than a group.

Please keep us updated!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/05/2019:
Hi BCGG!

I was wondering what happened to you ..I wish D a good recovery and that he feels better soon.

If you will feel accountable and like the idea of working with someone, this seems to be the right approach for you to go on your journey. Everyone has certain methods that work best individually for that person!

horn_of_plenty on 06/03/2019:

Sunday sounded like a day of reflection for you! I have days like that as well, as I age I keep thinking about the 'best' way to do it, to be ale to live my best life. There are no easy answers right?! I sure hope D doesn't put off the hip replacement... I have heard many good things about it, my grandma, and aunt have had - and, in my position in healthcare, I hear from a lot of people who have had or are looking forward to getting hip replacements done.

Had to turn the heat on today....it's June isn't it?????   I thought so!!!!

D had a knee replacement a year ago....now he is talking about a hip replacement....UGH!!!   Most likely he will put it off....but old age stinks!!!   All of his years of abusing his knees and hips in construction are now coming back to haunt him!  For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  For 32 years he was muscular because of the daily work........when the work stops....you truly pay the price....the muscles are now gone and osteoarthritis is now king......it is really weird how the brain still says we are kids ( but with a lot more foresight).......but the body says heck no!!!   When my 83 year old Dad was told he had terminal cancer...he said..."it's too soon"....I get what he was saying!

I'm still fighting the good fight though.........the older I get...the stiffer my joints get....the worse my balance gets......the more weight I take off the looser my skin gets.......the longer I live the more age spots and weird marks I get.......yet....the brain says.......mirrors LIE!!!   Photos LIE!!!!   That can't be me!  In my Moms final year....we were talking about my I phone...and the amazing things it could do.......and because we were sitting in separate chairs next to each other...I turned slightly and took a selfie with her close by in the background......and handed her my phone to see the picture.........she recognised me and then said...but who is behind you??????  When I told her it was her...she was visably horrified....she was 89....but in her head...she was a lot younger......but life goes on and things change.......on the outside......but the inside says.....jump up there and reach that......get down there and grab that.......but what the head thinks...the body ignores......like a very old beagle we once had named Jack, did.....pretty well says it all......when he was happy...he would try to jump...but his feet no longer left the ground......his old muscles were trying to jump...but his ancient body said otherwise...but he didn't care..or apparently notice...he just knew that he was happy and when he was happy...his little beagle body jumped...all 4 feet at once...like he was on a spring........old age kept those 4 feet firmly planted...but he still tried.....and he still was happy none the less..........Because I am a glass half full kind of soul......I will keep on keeping on.....and avoid mirrors...LOL

Breakfast = 1 coffee, banana, orange

Lunch = 1 small slice pizza, 1 mini bag jalapeno kettle chips, diet cola, Halo top

Dinner =  sauteed red cabbage in olive oil, banana and a can of perrier water

Done eating for the day

Horn_of_plenty on 06/02/2019:
the one good thing about bone recplacements is they usually, if you do the good rehab and you are persistant in your recovery process, is that they do tend to work very well and you can enjoy the same activities as previously thank gosh. just that whole recovery which is long and difficult.

def best to feel young and be young, even if you are older, it's def very important to remain young and heart and stay active.

yesterday at the beach, there was 2 families playing beach volleyball in the sand. most of the men appeared either in 50's or 70's!!! not kidding. these men were quite muscular / bulky (not small men, but some bellies, but quite fit looking for their older age!). i was so impressed with their agility in the sand and playing beach volleyball. they were moving like they were 20-30 years younger. i'm sure they are generally active. they were playing for a long period of time. and there was even a woman, also much older, playing with them. she was also very agile, despite being older. i was really impressed and inspired by them. they're proof that staying active is important as you grow older!

BearCountryGG on 06/02/2019:
After retirement he continued to do a lot of walking and working with the hounds....but it is definately a different kind of exercise than he had been doing......things just wear out and osteoporosis is the result. Construction is tough on the body....and he had done some damage playing baseball and football in his earlier years....so that all set the stage for the bone on bone joints...just basically worn out.....any repetetive movement for 8 hours a day does a lot of damage.

Donkey on 06/02/2019:
From what I've seen and heard, hip replacement is easier to go through than knee replacement. You may recall that my husband had double hip replacement surgery and came back from that pretty well and pretty quickly too. He says he would much rather have the hips replaced than a knee. If D is having one hip replaced (at a time?), then all the better because he'll have the use of his good hip.

I hear you so much on getting older. I turn 49 this year, but I am already getting into the mindset of being 50, because I feel that if I am not prepared, it will be hard for me to deal with. One thing that has really helped is following some "over 50" fitness groups on Facebook for reference, motivation, advice, and perspective from folks that are young at heart.

I remember as a young child, my grandma and nana (great-grandmother) in their early 60s and 80's (respectively). So we're talking 1977-1980's. They both lived to be in their 90's, but they seemed older. Granted, my perspective is warped, but in dress, mannerisms, health -- nana and grandma seemed so much older than how people in this age group are now.

I find myself getting frustrated with the encroaching limitations of age. Memory & eyesight constantly remind me that I'm getting older. As long as my body (back, mainly) stays healthy, I don't feel quite as old yet, but when I hurt my back last year -- wow, did I EVER feel OLD.

For now, I've stopped dying my hair because the chemicals are so harsh. I am thinking of trying a temporary bright color (red? purple?) on the gray patch I have, but haven't gone there yet. Also started to give some consideration to getting my nose pierced (yes!), but probably won't go there.

This was a recent topic of conversation at my workplace. The conclusion that we could all agree on is that we should try to remain as active as possible for as long as we can. Staying active is the secret to staying "young" -- which is another good reason to have hip replacement surgery - so that D can stay active for longer!

BearCountryGG on 06/02/2019:
It would be just 1 hip...the opposite side from the knee. It's good to know that your husband did well with recovery. I stopped dying my hair a few years ago because the contrast as it grew out was really bad.....I have just gone naturally gray now and it is a lot easier....my new issue is that my hair is growing dso fast that it is almost to my waist....My Mom had cut my hair for years...and inbetween I would cut it myself......and I just haven't done it for 4 years now....and it is super long......I really do need to get on that though....it is getting into everything......for awhile ther it was getting thinner.....but that has finally stopped....now...it is just growing a really fast rate...I would say about 2 inches a month....

Lunch = deli turkey with lite mayo on 2 biscuits, banana, orange and blueberries....diet cola.

Cleaning out the prepper walk in closet........setting aside things that need to be used sooner than later......I really need to find a better way to keep things in there...shelves, book cases or something other than bags and boxes.

Dinner = flat out w flax, peanut butter, veggie straws, perrier water

A little with the resistance bands and exercycle......starting slow.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/02/2019:
i'm also loving my warm cereal breakfasts as they are so filling in the morning. i especially love them when i'm eating breakfast on the weekend and have time to enjoy a filling, voluminous breakfast :)

loving the peanut butter for dinner as a change of pace. i think i don't see too much fat in your entries, even good fats? i want to tell you that i was just reading something this morning about avocado and in general i know this from my own experiences - that when i include a little more fat in my meals, my hunger is lessened and i'm more satisfied and not as hungry between meals.

also, i love those veggie straws too. i eat those chips all the time. i consider them like my carb in meals instead of noodles/bread/rice i usually opt for chips. just like them a lot!

love the exercise bands and exercycle. just a little bit goes a long way!

Donkey on 06/02/2019:
Resistance bands - YES! If you can do 10 minutes of bike and 10 minutes of resistance to start, that is a good habit to establish. I mean, we as humans can endure much worse for at least 10 minutes, right? (That's what I tell myself when I'm struggling, LOL...)

Beautiful day here...........working on eating healthier a bit.

Breakfast = 1 coffee, fat free strawberry yogurt and a banana

Lunch = fish, red cabbage sauteed in olive oil, cucumbers, 2 biscuits with spray butter, tea

Snack = diet cola

Dinner =Tuna, apple, grapes and cucumber

Getting serious about losing the remainder.....slow going so stepping up my game.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/31/2019:
great foods! i can tell you are getting serious by your food choices. especially lunch looks so good !!!

and dinner looks good too, maybe add in a few crackers or toast with the tuna and/or some healthy fat like 1/4 avocado or even some mayo just to make it more satisfying? does your tuna include mayo?

remember, fats are good for you and will make the meal taste more satisfying:) that's why my yogurts are 2% or full fat...once in awhile i also like a fat free type :)

BearCountryGG on 05/31/2019:
Didn't use mayo this time because I wasn't missing it......but did get plenty of olive oil.

BearCountryGG on 05/27/2019:

I wonder if the idea of sorting and downsizing is what is truly preventing me from moving, rather than the other reasons that I mention. Hmm...

BearCountryGG on 05/27/2019:
Would you list your house first and then look for another one? Or would you find one and then put yours on the market? For me....giving my eself a deadline to list..always forced me to get things done...otherwise..i procrastinate. Would you downsize now that the kids are grown? We did....plus we now have so many things from my parents house,.....and this place is half the size of the previous one.....it is a bit much......I keep donating...and yet...there is still too much....
