Well.....I've proven to myself that at 1,200 calories I just maintain.......I do have hashimotos that slows down metabolism as does my past dieting history.  I have also learned how to stay at that without counting until I'm done eating in the evening.  So, I'm accepting that I am apparently where I should be rather I'm happy with that or not.  I'm accepting that as meeting a goal of sorts because I'm not a fan of counting food all day for myself.

In anticipation of the new year.....I plan to cut back my online time........Over  the last few years it has replaced my time reading and doing other things that I really want to get back to doing again.  Of course I will never give up the internet totally....but I do want to cut back on it.

I hope everyone has a happy holiday season, and a happier new year.

Donkey on 12/12/2019:
I really liked this post, all the way around.

I'm surprised to read that you do not like counting calories, I guess because you do it so well?

BearCountryGG on 12/12/2019:
Counting cals makes me think too much about food...I am really far better off if I just eat when I'm hungry and eat what I'm craving...it is so much less of a hassle.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/12/2019:
If cutting your time online is makes you happy as does not counting calories and you can maintain, then that is exactly what you should do :) You are the boss of you! LOL

BearCountryGG on 12/12/2019:
I enjoy being online but it does encourage me to sit around a little too long during the day..

happy-1 on 12/14/2019:
I feel you. I definitely need to limit online time. Just not this site.

bearcountrygg on 12/18/2019:
I still read here...but online time is so much less now and I like it.

innerpeace on 12/17/2019:
Oh I thought you were going to start limiting for the new year...not leading up to it! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

bearcountrygg on 12/18/2019:
Test run...LOL I liked it.

Bright sun and bitter cold....D at the dentist...and I'm home trying to figure out why the printer prints pictures and no text......

Still eating the things that need to be used up........apparently i've learned the fine art of maintenence...scales haven't moved in apparently a long time.  I heard last night that we burn 1 calorie per minute when we are sitting down......that is 1,440 calories burned per day just existing in a chair or bed..........................

Donkey on 12/11/2019:
Very cold here too. Burns more calories? But I seem to be eating extra to make up for that.

BearCountryGG on 12/12/2019:
Bitter here today...even colder than yesterday....

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/11/2019:
Maintenance is DEF NOT A BAD THING ! :) at least you've learned what you need to remain the same. the hardest is making further changes!

BearCountryGG on 12/12/2019:
Yup....I can decide to pursue it longer but not sure i want to....I'm not a fan of counting but can now just stay at around 1,200 to 1,300 without counting.

Spent some time this weekend looking at expiration dates on groceries on hand and found a lot of foods that are either out of date ( they don't scare me)...or the dates are getting close...so I need to concentrate on using these things up...I also have a lot of prepared leftovers in the freezer, some identifiable and some mystery packages.  This stuff just needs to be used up.....since I am now counting calories I think I can figure out calories on all of it one way or another.  It's been a year since I cleaned out the freezer so basically it is mainly 1 year old or less......and the things in the house closet just need to be used up......so today I think I will just start using what needs to be used up......I've decided to just use whatever needs to be used the most first.....( guess I should take vitamins)

OPERATION....USE THIS JUNK UP...With pictures and calories

Breakfast 7:00

1 cup coffee = 2 cals, 1 cup decaf coffee = 5 cals, 1/2 cup liquid egg whites ( need to be used up because the carton is open = 67 cals), 1 expired container yogurt = 130 cals

7:40 Multi vitamin, extra C, extra D, Extra omegas, B12, turmeric

Full of energy again today and feeling really good......some sorting of boxes going on today and I think plenty will end up in the trash......where, in the past I had brought a lot of things up to sort...and then just got overwhelmed by it...so now the sorting will happen today....I am really happier without all of the clutter.... also a pile of shirts that need buttons sewn back on has taken over the dresser...I'm tired of looking at that pile grow...today....I sew on buttons or mend those.  I'm also going to isolate some bottles of perfume, lotions, oils etc including make up....and work on tossing or using those up....and putting the newer things away for later.  Less shopping, more using things up.......clutter makes me uncomfortable.

Donkey on 12/09/2019:
When I initially read your entry this morning, I asked myself, Why on earth would you put egg whites into a cup of coffee? After reading all of the crazy stuff other folks put in their coffee, hey, why not egg whites? (You'd be surprised.) This photo looks much better than egg white coffee, LOL...

It depends on what the food is, but I too have a lot of leeway with expiration dates.

BearCountryGG on 12/10/2019:
LOL....just poured the egg whites in a storage container and microwaved ...that sure is easy...

Horn_of_plenty on 12/10/2019:
my vitamins were used up, so this time i ordered some gummies as a change of pace lol....i'm not afraid of expired yogurts either and NEVER have seen a watermelon yogurt! that's new to me!

how did you get the eggwhites in a perfect square? microwave?

BearCountryGG on 12/10/2019:
Microwaved them in a little storage container...and it worked so well.

Woke up wanting coffee and a home made breakfast sandwich ....done

Still full of energy....and I'm taking advantage of it while it's here.

Getting a lot done here that has been getting put off....so glad to see some piles being eliminated.

Snack cake kind of jumped in my hand as I walked through the kitchen....done

Back to getting things done.....and happy with the results.  I cannot believe how much stuff just ends up in this house.....UGH

Laundry humming along......

Donkey on 12/08/2019:
Good morning! Go for it! While it's sometimes hard for me to get out of bed, early morning is my favorite time of the day!

BearCountryGG on 12/08/2019:
I wakeup so early...I guess really...I can only sleep between 5 and 6 hours most nights....and laying there for a couple more usually doesn't help...so we get up around here between 4 and 5 now.....but do both nap a little during the day...rather we want to or not...LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 12/08/2019:
i'm also more energized in the mornings now! i don't know what it is (prob medicine (anxiety) lol ) it's prob helped me with an extra push, perhaps. or, just being back to routine and more eager to get things done. i guess a mix of things. but i feel like you these days and that's a good thing!

BearCountryGG on 12/08/2019:
It is a good thing...and maybe you are just glad to be back in your own home.

happy-1 on 12/08/2019:
Ooooh a breakfast sandwich. Yum

BearCountryGG on 12/08/2019:
Goes together quickly with a precooked sauage from freezer, 2 pieces of toast and liquid egg whites cooked in microwave.....by the time the toast is done it's ready to put together...they sticck with me for hours.

happy-1 on 12/08/2019:
And good job on getting up at that hour. You supposedly improve heart health.

BearCountryGG on 12/08/2019:
I wish I could sleep for 7 hours but it just doesn't seem possible.

I have no idea why....but I woke up again today so motivated..........I'm actually excited to keep working on rooms.....and making them the way I WANT THEM...I had wasted so many years here ( Almost 5yrs)...living in an isolated place apparently feeling sorry for myself... rooted to a chair...putting things off..........making excuses.........)..........now that I am finally doing the things here in this house that I have thought about for so long....maybe I can make this place feel like home.....it's getting there......

Sipping my cup of cofee.....I have again cut back to 1 cup in the morning...because 2 cups were making me a bit jittery......and i'm okay with that.

Still moving things around until I get it all just right....my goal is to move the good furniture from the basement and move the stuff I don't like to the basement or out the door all together.

I'm working on every storage area...and while D had originally set this place up as a hunting camp....when My parents had passed away and we made this our permanent home....I was at first hesitant to undo what he had done here....but little by little...I'm making it like a real home again..........not a hunting camp....but home.....and he seems okay with it...I suspect that if I had done this when I first moved up here...he would have been insulted.....over time....he is likeing the changes and that is my goal....and it's working well.  He is being a big help with moving heavy things or when I ask.....so it's working really well.

No breakfast yet...waiting for hunger and a sense of what sounds good.

Wondering if I should bring the scale out of hiding and chck on things....yet I'm so comfortable without it........will see.

One thing  I'm noticing though is that my dust allergy is being tested.....BUT...At least moving heavy furniture exposes those litters of dust bunnies.....an allergist once told me that I can not be in the house when it is being cleaned......HAHAHAHA....yeah right!!!

Also considering photos of meals for a day or two again......will see.

Finally got hungry and decided what i wanted....2 slices of Dave's killer bread toasted with butter...I'm loving that bread...these were the last 2 slices.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/07/2019:
that's pretty funny the dr told you not to be in the house when it's being cleaned! LIKE, WHO IS GONNA CLEAN YOUR HOUSE THEN!? i get some allergies too. maybe you can wear a dust mask if it gets REALLY bad? or maybe you are just taking care of it.

i like a good cleaning every so often to get the dust out..i did that after around 5 years when i came back here recently to my apt. lol.

BearCountryGG on 12/07/2019:
Exactly!!! I've been wheezing for a couple of days and my eyes are bloodshot...oh well....That won't stop me....I do have masks here but i sweat so bad...when I wear those...so i'm just living with it.

happy-1 on 12/08/2019:

Up really early today....4:30 and no sign of going back to sleep.......

Breakfast so far = 1 cup coffee and 2 halo mandarin oranges.

Lots of energy so getting started around here....

D and I moved a lot of things before daylight this morning...we got a lot done and Now i'm hooking things up again like the computer, tv...printer....so far...computer and tv are fine...printer is a no go...LOL...but there are some extra cords...LOL

I finally feel like I'm making better use of these 2 rooms now........but...there is still stuff that needs to find a new home........the afternoon will take care of that.  So happy that D was so involved...I'm guessing that he wasn't happy with the previous set up either.

Had a snack and back to work

Quick lunch and staying so busy makes me forget about food....d had leftover chili I had made for him yesterday...the day just flew by...I love to be busy and have that happen.

Donkey on 12/06/2019:

Shuffling furniture around between two rooms again...just not happy with recent changes.....this will probably take a couple of days but up for it.

After a few days of high sugar intake...i ended up last night feeling seriously crummy.......and thankfully feel a lot better today..........maybe that is what it took to wake me up to carbs...at least unhealthy carbs.......as much as i have learned recently about keto ....i just know and accept the fact that I could never do that....i wish i could....but i know that I just couldn't...instead...i just need to focus on specicific things like actual sugar ( basically white sugar).......not banning it totally...but cutting it down a lot......

I'm not sure if I have ever mentioned it here or not before but I have arrythmia caused by a heart attack during a simple surgery when I was 29........my heart races 24 hours a day........pills could slow it down but would also make me sleepy 24 hours a day...so i don't use those...i live with it.....last night...after a sugar overload all day........my heart was beating faster than ever...tingly arms ( which happen sometimes)...and a little chest pressure......it settled down and i started feeling better but I will admit that it was a little scary......today i feel great....i'm just convinced that it was the sugar....i'm actually not sure if I have ever eaten that much sugar in one day in my life......well...never again.....didn't like that feeling...a racing heart on a day to day basis is my normal since 29...and I can deal with that.....but not going as fast as it was last night..don't want to go there again....actually I don't think I came back on last night and added the evening cup cakes.......and I'm not going to add them now.....but lesson learned.......unlimited cupcakes are apparently super dangerous for me...i don't even know how many I ate......just too many.......yesterday was kind of weird.......grumpy all day...and on here too...over that now thankfully!!!

Donkey on 12/05/2019:
My heart beats quickly after a sugar binge, partly from all that sugar, but also a bit from the emotions I experience while eating. Usually anxiety...

IDK I would never recommend a sugar binge to anyone, but, for me, sometimes it's something I "have to" do to get it out of my system. I bet you do much better today...

I want to thank you about your comment to me about my cat. It really helped me a lot to know that whatever is meant to be, will be. I told my daughter Tuesday evening, at least we know that we've done everything we could do.

BearCountryGG on 12/05/2019:
How is your cat today....Did her meds arrive? You have done everything you can for her.....Hoping that she gets better. I guess that is why kids react to sugar....could be chemical or could be excitement/anxiety......I knew I was messing up last night and I admit that I kind of scared myself...just needed to test it out.....fail!! LOL

Maria7 on 12/05/2019:
We all have to learn what agrees and what disagrees with us...and still we all take chances...like me...I know that ice cream (in the tubs) is not good for me...yet I have indulged this week a few times... Like I am just in the mood to have an ice cream sundae with cherries and pecans and I have had it nitely for 3 nites, I know...(yes, it was good!)...but then after I go to sleep, it is like I can't sleep cause my legs are aching (I have noticed this happens after I have a sugar overload in the evenings). My sugar is normal, had it tested, but I have also noticed that if I don't consume enough water during the day, my legs hurt at nite. So I drank water last nite and took 1 tylenol and the pain went away (may have been a little dehydrated). Anyway...we each know what is good for us and it is our decisions as to what chances we take concerning that (and we all take chances)...I am so happy that you are better this morning. And you were 'not' grumpy on here yesterday...I really enjoyed you post so much that I signed on just to comment to it. Have a happy day. I am trying to decide if I want to do the big Christmas decor thing here in the house or not this year...already got Mama's little tree put up in her room at the nursing home and went and bought extra decor for her mirror and discarded last year's which looked unappealing. Do I really want to put up a 7 foot tree and decorate it and we walk around it for less that 3 weeks, basically ignoring it til it is time to take it back down? Do I really want to put up Christmas decor on the fireplace mantel this year or on the piano? Do I want to do a centerpiece Christmas decor on the kitchen table this year? Do I want to put up lights on the front porch this year? (Still have Christmas lights on the big chicken house in the back yard from last year, so won't have to do anything with that but plug it in, ha!) Sometimes, I just feel like simple is better. Have a happy day! Love, Maria

BearCountryGG on 12/05/2019:
AWW...Maria...Loved your post...Maybe it's just the season for sweets...and of course we have had our times of overindulging...I know it will pass....sounds like you have figured out your leg issues too....and maybe we just had to learn that way...and sometimes we choose to throw caution to the wind.....it's all a learning experience.... I hear you about decorating for the holidays...we don't do it anymore for the same reasons...we don't want to go through the work and mess....and we aren't missing it...I have considered doing something with the dining room table...we have a small metal tree that you can hang individual ornaments on and we have some old war bulbs from WWII...but I can just imagine it would tempt the cat too much...LOL...so nope...not that!!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/05/2019:
In regards to your below rant :)....yes, there are a lot of threats and decisions we need to make on how we want to go about our health in this mixed-up world. we make choices that make us happy and in the process some are healthier than others. i'm sorry about the cancer cases in your family - it does seem there were several correlations. Keto may be King now in terms of fads. I do not fully endorse it on my end - i do like sugar and eat it everyday. I eat candy often, but moderate serving sizes. I do it so i don't feel deprived and i do believe it makes me feel "happy" when i have real sugar.

BearCountryGG on 12/05/2019:
I agree HOP....I think sugar makes me feel happy too....( guess I overdid it yesterday though...LOL)....It will always have a place in my day too....Moderation in everything is a thing...being too strict just makes me unhappy!!!

legcramps on 12/05/2019:
sometimes, you just wanna change the set up of a room, move the furniture, change the decorations/colors/etc. it's normal to not want to stay stagnant. enjoy the process!

BearCountryGG on 12/05/2019:
I have always liked to move furniture around...I had gotten a reputation many years ago from taking down the bunk beds, taking down our beds...and switching rooms with the kids....D would get home and think he was going into our rm...and would find the kids stuff in there...LOL...got quite efficient taking those bunks down and setting them back up again...all by myself..LOL

D is off to an early morning dentist appt....and I'm getting to work here earlier too.  Still a lot of moving things around to do.  This house is so much smaller than the last one and I'm a bit stumped as to how to arrange furniture and make the best use of the space without it feeling cramped and cluttered.  I keep taking things out to the car to be donated...yet it never seems to make the rooms look neater....closets yes...but rooms are so full of furniture......I guess some furniture needs to go...and that is difficult.....it is all things I want to keep......I will figure it all out....but it takes some moving things....still working on that.

Lots of people in my other groups are having problems getting away from sugars and other things their diet plans don't allow...that appeared during the holidays.........so many are seriously struggling....I've had a couple of days like that too.........sugar is truly addictive and yet it really doesn't agree with me after staying away for a few days.......and yet it calls......and knowing very well how it affects me doesn't seem to stop me...or apparently others.

Watching videos on amazon prime pointed out how we were really tricked by the sugar industry to fear fat and not sugar by 1 scientists skewed report...that was falsified to protect the sugar industry and blame the fats and oils industry.....then the food pyramid was adjusted to help farmers and hense the sugar industry again to promote grains and they go together with sugar to make so many desserts.

We have it seems been conditioned to believe that we need some foods that were just promoted for the money.  The damage was done and now we are left to deal with it.  My Dad stopped eating eggs and meat because they told him that is why he needed a heart bypass..........but now eggs are healthy.....Keto is king and .....so through all of the lies, smoke and mirrors.......I have to wonder what is really real........To add to that...recently I had to throw away lettuce, and packages of frozen berries because of a hepatitis threat...so now how do we keep safe while eating fruit and vegetables?  Protein..bars and powders are produced in labs basically, the grains have been altered so that farmers can produce more and keep their farms......

When i was a kid the only artificial sweeteneer originally was saccharine....tiny pills that you add to coffee...and they were very bitter...yet my grandfather used them daily, took what he called belly pills daily and then died of colon cancer.  My Dad was a fan of the first diet pop called Tab........and sprayed roundup all over the yard and driveway because he hated weeds.....he died of a form of cancer ( multiple myeloma)...that is now mentioning multiple myeloma in the  lawsuits associated with roundup......a brother in law...who is also a roundup user is still getting treatment for non hodgkins lymphoma ....another one in the lawsuitss..( non of us are pursuing the lawsuits).....another brother in law who was a Pepsi addict has passed from liver/stomach/pancreas cancer.

A few years ago my son ended up in the hospital with drug induced lupus...from taking multiple supplements sold by Vitamin world...his wife worked there and would pick up things when they went on clearance...he took them thinking he was doing himself good....then he got very sick.......when I looked each one up individually....it is a miracle that he is even alive....because several of them had seriously bad side effects.........he arrived at the hospital with blood so thick they couldn't draw any........and he now has a permanent lung problem....the drug induced lupus did go away once he stopped taking the supplements thankfully........his wife got mad at me because I looked the stuff up and told him the side effects...in the end....that is probably what saved him so I don't care what she thinks....they later divorced....but first she emptied their bank account of all of the money he had inherited from my parents( his fault for putting it in their shared bank account)......we are all glad she is gone...she did a lot of damage while she was in the family..........her ex husband had warned my son not to trust her....and now she has moved on to a very elderly man who will probably be taken for a ride by her too........................................

SORRY FOR MY MORNING RANT>>>>>>>>..Had to let this out somewhere and you guys are unfortunately the recipients of it.

I'M NOT GIVING UP ON ANTYTHING!!!!!!!  I will mush on...and make the best of things.........

I remain happy....I look for happiness everywhere I go......I love the challenge!!!!

Well....enough of that depressing stuff....but I just had to say it......we have changed our lives with our ways....and I know I don't know what do do about it.

Maria7 on 12/04/2019:
Signed in just to respond to your today's entry after I read it...Yes, I remember Mama sweetened our sweet tea with saccharin tablets, very tiny little while pills, that I don't think are being sold anymore...do you know? So, we didn't even know what it was to drink sugar-sweetened tea. She was very, very slim (and so were we!). She drank tab, too...that was long before diet pepsi and diet coke was invented...We ate REAL butter growing up, not chemical margerine we were all scared into changing over later in the years to because of 'bad butter'...Yes, we all 'trusted' that the so-called 'experts' knew what they were talking about and had our best interests in mind, not their overstuffed pockets and pocketbooks, didn't we? While those industries preyed on the simpletons and still do...eat this, not that...now eat that which we told you not to eat and don't eat what we told you to eat.... Long time ago, my very wise Hubby told me eat what you want and don't worry about it. He said the way it is now is everything has something in it...all foods... I guess he was/is right. Why shall we eat what we are 'told' to eat by those enriching their pocketbooks at our expense? Why trust the so-called 'experts'? Have a good day. I know you will get your home to feeling more spacious. Mine is cluttered, too, with things I don't want to let go in order to have more space but like you, our closets are looking better and not as cluttered and have been donating clothes and shoes. Take care.

BearCountryGG on 12/04/2019:
I agree...I don't think there is really anything that is truly safe to eat...so maybe just eating less of everything is the real answer.....If we had only left nature alone we would all be further ahead.

innerpeace on 12/04/2019:
I totally get the food thing...how do we know. All the stuff I read and watch say the exact same thing about meat and animal products...how are any of us still alive. Sometimes I just want to eat what makes me happy, but then I would stay morbidly obese for the rest of a short life. I just want to be healthy and happy at the same time

BearCountryGG on 12/04/2019:
Me too......maybe just less of it all? I definately don't think we should be listening to our food and drug association...they have led us down the garden path......

It's all addictive......in fact I suspect anything can become addictive if we allow it to be......somehow especially for me..finding out that frozen berries from aldi had hepatitis A in them just frustrates me...we had already eaten some of them......maybe the only answer is just cooking the heck out of everything....UGH...and using artificical sweeteners is seriously scary now.

At least on set of curtains going up here....need to move some stuff before the other ones can go up. It's easier to clean as I go really than to let it go and try to catch up later. Eating was totally off track today...need to get a handle on that.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/04/2019:
yes, i see you like to clean things often...i like that approach and it keeps a house nice and clean.

unload dishwasher and reload........DONE

get all laundry washed/dried/put away...... DONE

repack some containers to cut down numbers DONE

Package up damaged return and call or order online...a fed ex pick up.....( closest drop box is an hour away)....so weather prevents that..........DONE and scheduled

give the kitchen and dining room a quick clean up

Protein bar , 2 slices Daves killer bread, 1 egg, 1 slice cheese, 1 slice spam, spray butter = 789.......that spam is high....wish i didn't have so much of it ( trying to use up some storage foods)

Wow, that is a busy day ahead of you - you're off to a really good start!

We got just enough snow to cover the grass. The sidewalks, driveways, and streets are clear.

Kind of wish I didn't have to go to work today, but if I stayed home, I promise you I would not be nearly as productive as you are.

BearCountryGG on 12/02/2019:
Been on the phone with son...that slowed me down a bit.......but i think he is getting ready to go to work now so..His flooded basement crisis is getting corrected now....

happy-1 on 12/02/2019:
Feels good to tackle the list and cross things off!

BearCountryGG on 12/02/2019:
Yes it does....oddly enough...I have had to come back to the list a couple of times to see what I need to do....HA

legcramps on 12/02/2019:
That's quite the task list! You are accomplishing a lot today

BearCountryGG on 12/02/2019:
Got most of it done...rest will wait for tomorrow

Horn_of_plenty on 12/02/2019:
So...i feel like YOU today on your cleaning up days. I set out to clean my desk, and i did it!, today felt like i was YOU! Also semi-cleaned the inside of my oven meaning i cleaned it to the best of my abilities, even if not perfect, it's much cleaner!

BearCountryGG on 12/02/2019:
I should have been YOU today and cleaned my oven.....it really needs it....not one of my favorite tasks either...good job working on yours!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/02/2019:
dave's killer bread looks good, just looked it up!

BearCountryGG on 12/02/2019:
It is good...whole grains...one of the pricier breads here at $4.00....but well worth it I think!

Donkey on 12/03/2019:

BearCountryGG on 12/03/2019:
