Low 70's? we are going to be in the single digets! I so don't like to be cold. Sometimes we have to get that extra sleep to be able to do the rest - good choice.

Yes, Biscotti. You are absolutely right! I DO need to get back to swimming and yoga. HOWEVER, as you well know, this is a one step at a time thing. That I have literally stopped eating (almost) is a huge step. Yes, I am now mentally working out how I will renew my U of M membership. It's not what I want, but it will do for the time being until I can swallow the Biltmore's new high-range price schedule. After swimming there,it's really depressing to imagine going back to the U of M, though it's not THAT bad.

Anyway,, yes! I am thinking ahead and do plan to get back to swimming. More later.

I was able to get in the jog. Thanks for the wishes re: sleep--I'm on the upswing--I should be able to get in my activity for today!

Ah, pizza--always the poorer choice--but I ate alot yesterday even without it. Oh well. I wouldn't have thought twice about it had I not taken the time to count my calories--it's good to know! Also this is the first 3000-cal day in quite awhile.

For Wednesday my calories were 103 above goal.

Poo on any of my scheduled activity! Gotta do a bunch of unexpected housework and chores and stuff instead--won't be counting it toward the aerobic minutes. Another day's break won't kill me I suppose as long as I get my scheduled circuit in tomorrow.

So if I read this correctly, you did NOT eat the pizza because you reviewed where you were and knew it would throw you over in calories. This is wonderful@ I am definitely NOT that disciplined! And while cleaning the house is not the type of exercise you inteded, at least it's something! Better than laying on the couch watching tv! I hope you get in your exercise today (even if just for the mental aspects of it!)

" ... a bunch of unexpected housework"??? What can this mean, Biscotti? So curious :) Housekeeping is where my OCD expresses itself...... normally. However, it was a New Year's goal to get some kind of grip on that and I may have to revamp that because for once in a very very long time each of my rooms is more or less a wreck. In a way it's kind of humorous! One of my issues is dragging more stuff in all of the time. I have stuff stuffed in stuff and way more than I need or even can see to determine if I need it or not! Yikes!!!! I am thinking of you. Thank you for your comments to me. That "cure" that you mentioned last, is that for Type 1 or Type 2?

Hey biscotti! Thanks for your comment. I saw chocolate chip Weetabix at the store again today, but I got the plain kind instead! (And the last time I got that, it stuck around for months, so we shall see how long it lasts now!) In England you can even get banana nut Weetabix, and fruit and nut Weetabix. I love them!

As for the cabbage concoction, it's funny you should ask whether I cooked the cabbage and potato first, because I actually gave that quite a bit of thought. I thought they'd probably take ages to cook in the oven if I put them in raw, so I was originally planning to boil or microwave them first, but then didn't want to dirty an extra dish, so I just poured some boiling water into the baking pan, covered it with foil, and put it into the oven like that. The vegetables were done in, like, ten minutes! So then I added the sour cream and cheese and put it back in the oven for another ten minutes without the foil.

Oh and I went to that exrx.net site you mentioned - very interesting! It actually said my numbers were "excellent"! What an ego boost! And it also said that my recommended calorie intake is around 1800. That's quite reassuring because I've seen other websites put it in the 1200-1500 range.

Well, hope the housework went well! I never feel bad about taking a break from exercise to do something productive - and you should count it as exercise if it wears you out!

I didn't get in my jog--my legs were something (not sore, not overly tired). I just knew that it wouldn't have been productive for me to jog--I only got about 5 hours sleep the night before. The only thing I could think is that I hadn't been on the Airdyne for awhile, until the other day, and that may have made my legs sore in a different way. I'll probably be able to get my jog in today.

For those of you who must know how many Robie Shots of h&h I had in my two cups of coffee yesterday, it was a little more than four! What's a Robie Shot? Why it's a . . . I don't know--but it was on the conversion thingy I used to figure out how much "stuff" I put in my coffee.

For the weekly recap of goals met or not: Calories were <2000 on four days only (Avg: 2027), all planned Circ Wkts done, at least 80 oz water on all days except three and at least 1 hr cardio on only two days. (That last one's proving to wrap me up just a little more than I thought it would!)

Just thought of something... I should be doing whatever you do each day and eat the number of calories that you eat because you are about the weight I HOPE to be. There's a little perspective for ya! You are such a good "keeper tracker" :) I'm trying to move in that direction. I like and need structure in two or three things and this project is one of them. I also hope that you sleep well and have restful dreams tonight.

Hmm. Well, my legs seem to feel a little achey if I try to run a day after going on my exercise bike. And I do the exercise bike so rarely, that it's always the first time in a long while. In fact that's one of the reasons I don't do it more often (or at least one of the excuses I come up with for it!).

Weight's the same today--I'm down a little over a half-inch on measurements.

Didn't get in my walk. For my coffee I've had to resort to half & half for yesterday and today--and if my narrowing butt doesn't get to the store--tomorrow. The difference between my usual FF milk and h&h is +126 calories and +24 fat grams for two cups of coffee!

Overall I'm on the right track!

For Friday calories were 13 over. I didn't get in my scheduled exercise--just ran out of time, which means I'm going to make an effort to do a portion of my "daily" in the a.m. Missing 3 days in a week is not good!

!!!Extremely Boring Minutiae Alert!!!
Nevertheless, here it is: I did an online body fat test--different one than I usually do, then I did the other one I've been doing for years. So as a compromise I'm going to shoot for a first goal of a lower number for the horrendously higher value of the NEWER test (are you confused yet--haha) of 33.5% body fat. It's smack dab in between the two, if you must know!
!!!End Alert!!!

It'd probably be easier to find someone to do a skin caliper test, but even with that you can measure anything from three skin folds up to nine!

Bottom line, I'm tired of being fat just like everyone else. I finally realize for the infinitieth time--haha--that I have to lower the calories once and for all, or I'm going to be haunting the DDs until I'm 70 years old--not that there's anything wrong with being 70 and trying to lose weight, but I just don't see myself coming here and doing THIS when I'm 70;-)

When you turn 70, you will be comming to diet diaries to tell all of us how well you are doing at maintaining!! You will have met your weight goal way before that. You know, I don't worry about the bmi or any of that. I know that if I get to a reasonable weight, everything else will fall into a good range also. You are doing great with your diet and exercise - keep it up!

Why don't you get a body fat scale? I bought one after talking to our fitness center director who has a masters degree in sports health something or other, and she said that they are often even more acurate than a skin caliper test. At least it's a consistant way to keep track of how you're doing and it's more personalized than an online test.

Anyway, good luck in managing your calories! You certainly can do it. :)

Yeah, Jill (Our fitness director) said that the percentage on the scales can vary from day to day due to water intake. She told me to take my measurements only once at the same time every week along with my set weekly weigh-in to keep the results steady.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! I love that little funny! I wonder if there really are "once and for alls". I just look at your declared weight and your calories and your exercise and I don't see you as an unhealthy person. You are right on the ragged edge of perfect, aren't you? Six pounds to go? Am I reading that incorrectly? You just seem so fit and committed. Even as overweight as I am I know that it is such a mammoth feat to get rid of those last pounds (I've done it a few times and why I keep wanting to revisit the scene of the crime I DO not know). The thing about the dogs and their baths... Sometimes I just about die laughing at little dog. She seems to know that she is cute and that I am loving it. Take care, BB.

Obviously I'd be kicking myself today had I not jogged yesterday evening. I feel great. It's a little better than a plod around the block, but who goes around proclaiming, "Hey, I went for a plod yesterday, and I feel like a million bucks!" Well, I do feel good since I did the circuit AND the jog. Not something I want to make a habit of because it probably contributes to the plodding scenario--no chance for speed!

Further, I haven't gotten the "tightening" in my calves the last few jogs--no shoe change either--and I was able to do 30 military pushups without stopping yesterday!

Last week I cheated a bit and counted the actual weight work as cardio--this week I'm not.

Almost as soon as I made my entry yesterday, I realized I wouldn't be able to do ALL my planned activity. Then some hours later I realized I wouldn't be able to do any of it. Then I completely crashed. It's pointless for me to try to push exercise through major exhaustion. I was immobilized.

That's what more than a day of sleep deprivation does for me! Luckily this doesn't happen often. I generally get 7-8 hrs/night--for 3 or so days I only got about 5 hrs--per night. Not good for me!

So throughout this week I'm going to try to make up the 1 hr of cardio I missed. Shouldn't be too difficult. However, I feel keeping the calorie count in check is probably a little more important in the grand scheme!

Right! I don't think that 5 hours a day are good for any body especially Biscotti Body, who pushes so hard. I am glad that you understand when to pull back. In reading your comments to others I always get the feeling that you are ruled by your reason. And, really, this course we are all trying to hold demands just that, doesn't it. Magical thinking just doesn't get it. HOWEVER, on another note (to revisit a subject) now I am even MORE concerned about you being out in the dark jogging. Do you watch the news???? One little woman out in the world alone in the dark... no good :( Hope as I am keying in these words that you drowsed into a nice nap. Thank you for reminding me that spring will come. I am not one who is ordinarily affected with winter, but just now I am looking at everything in terms of preferred exercise (and that would SO be something OUTDOORS). I asked CritterMom about facilities at the Y today. I am almost paralized at the thought of working out in public, but I think that the Y might be a way to ease into it. That CharleyAngel is going leaps and bounds in a more regulated situation and it is making me think that I could benefit from that also. Have you ever had a trainer? See you tomorrow. If I don't get a good 8 hours in myself, I'm no good either. I guess sometimes we have to listen to our body, and do as it says. I still think you're doing a great job!

I appreciate your words of honesty in my diary because that is far more important than just writing what you think i should expect or want to hear! It helps to have multiple viewpoints.

i still think i have a shot at fixing or mending my own eating dilemnas without a professional. I think that perhaps by dating, as weird as this sounds, and having new relationships will actually help me progress. Sometimes i confuse feelings of lonliness for feelings of wanting to be alone and binge with food as my friend. I have noticed this a long time ago and I think that dating and opening myself up to others can help. It sounds weird, but i think that my abilities lately to go out with the guy in particular that i'm talking to now can help me control my emotions to binge....

anyways, today was a better day.

If i were only getting 5 hours of sleep, I'd crash, too!!! I feel your pain! Feel better so you can get your exercise on!
