For my activity: NordicTrack 39 min/4.4 mi; Bike Ride 26 min/4.7 mi; Short Walk

Day 62: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

On my weigh-in I'm the same, believe it or not, and that's just fine with me today! It's been so long since I've lifted weights that I'm dreading the initial soreness--oh well, I have to do it.

*Update*
Gotta do some unexpected cleaning, tidying and organizing so I hope I'll at least have time for a walk much later!

Plan for today: NTrack, Circuit Workout, Bike Ride, Walk

Have a good food day!

Oh well, that cleaning, tidying and organizing burns calories, too! Hope you get the walk in later...

Hi Biscottibody. I'm back, and so is my motivation. Been a bit stressed recently but now I'm OK. I see you are still maintaining, I hope to be back with you soon, and trying my best to get into the 150s. I shall set myself some goals and get back to basics again :0). Your unexpected cleaning and tidying will probably use up as much energy as a walk. Do your thing !!!

Day 61: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

To refresh, I'm doing an 84-Day Count with these goals: 1700 cals/day, possibly jog 3 days/week, circuit workout (full body wt trng) 2-3 days/week, drink 80-100 oz water/day.

Plan for today: NTrack, Bike Ride, Walk

Have a good food day!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/05/2007:
Do you ever have a goal based on what you'd like the percentage of good days to be for the 84 day count? I think that would be really cool. For instance, making a goal for you to accomplish the 84 day count at least 85% if the time. It would be interesting to see how often the goal ends of being met. Do you ever look back and see?

anyways, I like the goals very much. You'll definitely notice a change if you keep your goals up, even after one week!

Looks like you have a good plan at 1700 cals per day and your exercise!

I've got to find someone to donate these nasty snack cakes to--Hostess Suzy Q's in case you care--or they're probably going to be trashed--something I really don't like to do. Normally I'd take them back for a refund, but in this case it's all my fault--there's nothing wrong with them except that I don't think I could eat even one bite unless I had NOTHING else to eat!

Numbers below are estimates. I finally had it with my "Eat All You Want" experiment. I was looking at one of my diet books, because doesn't eating like a billy goat go right along with reading diet books haha! Anyway, this quote applied to my experiment, "You can have all you want, but you don't want all you can have."

Plan for today: NTrack, Walk

Day 58: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

I guess what I've been doing today and yesterday is sort of my own version of "Schick Center" aversion therapy for food/weight loss. My rules: Eat whatever you want, you can't allow yourself to get hungry, but you can't overeat so that you're overly full/full to feeling pain either. Feeling pain is utter failure. Sounds kinda sick to actually write it down, but that's it!

It rather precludes drinking much water until the nighttime (for me)--I've got to reserve space for the actual food. Though I wasn't going to count yet, I sort of did a cursory calorie count for yesterday--it was around 4100 give or take a hundred--the fiber count was over 50. I couldn't have really exercised much because that would cut into my eating time for crying out loud;-)

I don't want to do it one more day and, in fact if I do, I'll have to go to the grocery store and I sure don't want to eat the same things I've been eating. I've eaten everything I wanted to eat and planned to eat for this little experiment.

I have learned something from this. If I eat exactly what I want, I don't want to eat the things that I've sort of designated as treats when I'm trying to stay within my calories, like chocolate for instance. I've eaten only one thing that could be considered to be in the chocolate family--a snack cake with fake cream filling--pretty revolting--though I could probably stand to just eat one of the pieces of cake and throw away the rest! The other thing I learned is that I skirt the edge of this behavior all the time and it's time to step far away from that edge, try to gain some control if possible (if not some different habits) and do what I can do to lose some weight. Not the up and down--something sustainable.

BTW, I don't know what the actual Schick Center did for weight loss--I think you'd have to be at least 45 to remember the commercials or the Saturday Night Live spoofs even (I don't know of anyone who actually went to one of the centers for treatment). Kinda reminds me of the commercial where the woman is yelling to the man, "Don't take the car, you'll kill yourself!" I think that one was for some kind of alcohol treatment. I've read one account that the Schick Center attached electrodes to shock your hands while you're eating your "weakness food" and then they call out something that frightens you, like roaches or spiders or whatever. I'm pretty sure the smoking cessation method was a little different--having you smoke continuously until you just got sick of it. That was more what I was going for with my 2 days of "aversion therapy."

Of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating--maybe this will be good for my future, maybe not. At any rate, I bit, I chewed, I enjoyed--with some abandon--if just for today and yesterday!

Plan for today: Walk

Have a good food day!

Sat: Walk 10 min; Phone Call 4 hrs
Sun: Nothing
Mon: Yard Clean-up 30 min
Tues-Wed: Nothing

Days 52-57: Calorie goal ???--water goal no! I logged my food in my little notebook, but not Fitday. I drank at least 28 oz/day of water for each day.

I'm not going to get back to counting calories until further notice. I hope I'll be able to get in some decent activity/exercise, but I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself. It does go hand-in-hand for me, and I'm just taking a little breaky-poo for myself at the moment--haha! Funny how it took me several days to figure out that I REALLY needed to do so;-)

Weight's the same for this week's weigh-in. Won't do measurements again 'til next week at the earliest. If I'm not doing my weightlifting, which I haven't been doing lately, there's no point.

Plan for today: Nothing

Have a nice day!

Changing that tire had to use a few callories!! I hope you enjoy your break - we all need one from time to time. Hopefully it won't be to hard to get back to the callorie coutning when the break is over. With all the exercise you do, you should be able to maintain without counting.

Weight's up--I'm not shocked. Disappointed yeah, not shocked. I have to find a way to move this process forward. The frustration at this point feels almost as bad as being 189 did when I first started. Just without the shortness of breath when I walk up a hill like then. Glad I've at least maintained some semblance of fitness over all these years!

Now let the kicking and screaming begin as I move forward--hahaha! Really I do have to move forward. I'm not happy with my performance of the most basic things necessary for me to feel good about my process. Or in the most blunt terms, "Let me now get my sh*t together!" Thank you very much:-)

Try writing down everything you will eat tomorrow before bed tonight. Maybe even write down the exercise you are going to do and the time? I don't know - we all get in a funk and it is hard to pull our selfs out. I have been there often. Maybe what you need is to give yourself permision to take a couple days off - guilt free. I find that when I do that, and it is ok to eat whatever, I don't want it as bad as when it is a very strick no no.

Day 47: Calorie goal no--water goal no!

An absolutely fabulous day. Not.

I balked at all exercise because of a couple of minor inconveniences and lack of sleep. First it was a slightly stiff shoulder/neck that traveled from one side to the other. Then it was a catch in my calf--that did it. Oh and I only had about 4 hours sleep the night before (got 7 hours last night) and no nap.

It's just sooo funny, when someone new comes on here and I suggest to them to write down what they're eating to see for themselves if they have a handle on just how much/what they're eating. I can say for myself that yesterday (Sunday) I really didn't think I ate more than 2000 calories. I felt like I made pretty good choices and never came close to overeating. I guess what I'm saying is that my stock cuggestion to everyone else most certainly applies to me after all this time.

I've been down the road of planning every morsel and eating only what I've planned. I don't like doing it, but it's something I guess I'll have to do if I am going to get past this weight. (It's not something I can sustain for long because it connotes diet--I am not a dieter.) I'm not interested in South Beach or Atkins or Protein Power or any other diet. I did a diet from a book from the 70s that really kick-started my weight loss about 7 years ago, and maybe I'll revisit that. It was much more common sense than a diet. (But technically it was a regimented way of eating aka DIET and is the only time I've followed something called a DIET strictly.) I could do it again.

I'll be a better/smaller person for it--haha! I can see the writing on the wall, and I don't like it one bit--I don't eat all that much for crying out loud, but the margin for error is getting ever smaller as time passes and aging happens (or I don't get in a decent amount of activity). I rarely come close to overeating, much less bingeing, so I'll do it with a really bad attitude here soon;-) Damn!

As I was writing this it made me think of a diarist, Garlic--my age, a very disciplined eater. A member of OA. She made up her mind and stuck to a plan. She didn't eat whatever she wanted by a longshot. All these years later I'm struck by her approach and discipline. No complaining, just plan it/do it.
