Happy Tuesday!

I'm always happy to answer any questions, sometimes it takes me forever to answer, but . . . anyway.

I'm at the same weight for this week's weigh-in--imagine that:-) However, my measurements are down except for Waist (+1/8), Bust (+.5), and Abdomen (+.75). The others are Calf (-1/8), Arm (-.25), Leg (-3/8), Wrist (-1/16), and Hip (-3/8).

For exercise the last few days:
Sat 9.27: Jog 30 min
Sun 9.28: Jog 25 min (checked mileage, was 2.2 mi)
Mon 9.29: Jog 35 min

I really ate just whatever I wanted this week--I didn't reach or exceed 3000 calories on any day--that's a good thing:-) I didn't eat tons of junk, but I could be a little more disciplined. Actually a lot more. Not deprived, deprivation doesn't work for me. Better choices should work, but after all we have to actually make better choices--a struggle, but well worth it!

In response to LaFemme_Loca's question about fiber, here are some quotes from back in my diary when others have asked me about it, maybe it will help someone else:

"Do not ask me where all the fiber came from. I had my usual bran, a few carrots and a couple of bananas. Bananas don't have a ton of fiber, but 15 baby carrots (according to FitDay) have 4.5 g fiber. Also 1 svg Jell-O FF Pudding has 1.8 g fiber, hmmmm . . ."

"Kyrin asked about how I get so much fiber into my diet. My carb intake is consistently around 45-50% of my total calories. So within that I generally try to eat high fiber crackers, cereal, and bread. I don't eat an awful lot of pasta, but there are some good-tasting (in my opinion) whole wheat pastas out there. I tend to overeat pasta, so I don't choose it very often. Also doing half brown rice and half white rice is a good way to get more fiber. Again I don't eat an awful lot of rice. It's usually for a dinner with others, I wouldn't fix it just for me.

A sample of fiber content of some things:
1 Boca Burger (Flame Grilled)--4 g fiber, 4 g fat
1 Boca Burger Original--4 g fiber, 1 g fat;

1 svg (7 crackers) Reduced Fat Triscuit, 4 g fiber, 3 g fat;

Shredded Wheat 'n Bran (18 pieces), 2.5 g fiber--when I first started including this in my diet, it was as a substitute for melba toast in the diet I was originally doing--couldn't find it, so I modified it by using
this--6 pieces per meal. I don't really do this most days--if I did I'd probably weigh much less by now. The truth is it's filling, but boring as a food.

Apple (7.5 oz), 5.3 g fiber

Kiwi fruit, 2.5 g fiber

Popcorn (6 c popped), about 5 g fiber

Brown Rice (one-half cup), about 2 g fiber

Miller's Bran (one-third cup), 9 g fiber--my "magic fiber bullet" hahaha! There are some good hi-fiber cereals that compete with this, Kashi Good Friends for one.

Uncle Sam Cereal, 10 g fiber/1 cup

That about covers it for a few higher fiber things. Thanks for asking, I hope it helps others too."

Hi! Sorry to hear about your dental work; I hope you are feeling much better today.

I was checking our your calories, and I wanted to know how you figure out when and how to adjust your total caloric intake. I ask because there is quite a difference between the 2814 and the 1969. Were you doing more physical activity, or did you go out to eat and have something special, etc?

curvy shar on 09/29/2003:
Hope your mouth is feeling better now! Did you have your BMI professionally measured? I have been trying to figure out how best to do this. I can't seem to figure out those damn little calipers.

I got in a jog of 35 min. Always exhilarating!

Just had to add a quick update.

I missed both breakfast and lunch yesterday. I spent 3 hours in a dentist's chair. Got a crown--didn't make me feel much like a queen, but getting my teeth cleaned and finding I had -0- cavities was good. Who can complain about being pyorrhea-free and devoid of chunks of tartar up in your gum pockets--haha!

Didn't jog--mouth was slightly throbbing, so I chose to rest instead of kill myself. Have gotten 7 hours of sleep for the last 2 nights--a big deal for me!

I'll include the fiber example info in my next entry:-)

Sorry to hear about your crown. Sounds a tad bit painful but good for you for having NO cavities! Take care and rest up for tomorrow!

My numbers are out of it--again--but I don't care much--not today. I got on a roll with about 30 (oops!--that was supposed to be 3) hours of yard work--cleaning a small bit of gutterwork with leaf blower, weedeating, sweeping, sawing, blowing sidewalk, and bundling/tying up tree limbs. I intended to only finish the yard, but I got a little carried away--these limbs have been sitting around for at least 2 weeks, so I'm glad I did it. I could've put this off for months!

Finally I got in a 25 min jog and afterward a total of about 10 min walking. I earned it and enjoyed the heck out of it!

I hope you all have a good food choice day!

It's all right letting yourself go, as long as you can get
yourself back. --Mick Jagger

A little too high on calories, way too high on fat (grocery store here I come), and great on the water. For activity I did almost 2 hours of mowing, sweeping, and picking up in the yard.

I got gasoline in my eye and my contact lens--I hate it when that happens. Normally, I'm very very careful with gasoline, but I flicked the filler tube out of the opening somehow and it splashed in my eye. Also I normally have on sunglasses and didn't yesterday.

I didn't jog again--my left buttock was still sore. I haven't had a shot there in years, but that's what it felt like. I think I'll be able to get back to it today. It's good to take time off and get out of our comfort zones--right?!?

I hope you're having a good activity--move your body so you feel good kind of day:-) Cheers to you all!

That's good that your taking a break especially if you still in pain. Your muscles are doing some big time healing it seems, and before you damage them again they need to heal a little. That's what my trainer always told me anyhow. Well, you have a great day today and will catch your entry tomorrow!

legcramp on 09/24/2003:
Great quote!! OUCH gasoline! I hope your eye is feeling better soon!! Good to hear you're taking some time off, best to take care of yourself first, before running off and doing something that might sabotage your body AND soul!! Have a great day today!

Gotta Change My Frame Of Mind!

Going up a half-pound rather sucks. I haven't made the best food choices the last few days, so there's no mystery! Going back to
40g fat/day for the next week.

I took a 40 min walk. No jog--apparently my gluteus maximus had a few complaints about my exercise. I wasn't in great pain, but I could tell major exercise was not the answer:-) Neither was a foot-long coney--but it did hit the spot--haha!

As for measurements, they're all down slightly from Sep 9, except Abdomen is down 1-1/8 inches, Waist is up 1/8 inch.

Cheers to you all!

Later . . . I just wanted to share a site I just checked out--www.nutridiary.com--at first glance it's like FitDay.com and it's free. As some of you may know FitDay doesn't let you go over a certain weight--well this one does, and I think it's got a few more features than FitDay. So if you're just starting out, try it--it may be just the thing!

About your comment today. I'm sure it's alot of things...but the biggest thing is I just learned how to say no to things. I would love to eat them but I just go back to seeing this program on tv. There was a really large women about 525 and she lost a little over 300lbs. In order to WALK normal she had to get 35 lbs of fat cut off her body! That is just so scary! I will not do it any more and maybe end up like her. It was horrible horrible pain for her recovery. Months and months of pain. I am not willing to go through that so I just go through some of this Easy pain and get it done this time. I will never forget that program. The name of it was "A Trash can of skin". Very inspiring for me I have to say. I'm glad I watched it. I just have an over abundance of strength right now. I should have taped the program so I can always have it when I do badly. Have a great day today.
