Hello All!

I did a 42 min jog broken up into 20, 7, 4, and 11 min. It was very humid last evening. I just took it slow and easy and just wanted to complete my objective. Sounds bland:-)

I enjoy jogging so much! For years I had a recurring dream of running down a certain street in the town I grew up in. I would think I'd never be able to feel that freedom of moving under my own power out in the open again. Walking would be fine too, but my dream was about jogging.

It took awhile to get to this point, but I have to say it was so very worth it. And I'm down about 10 pounds since starting the jogging program.

As for the old scale, I got on it today and in the little window looking to the very far left, I can actually see 130. I know that doesn't mean much, but when I started I didn't notice stuff like that. I suppose I didn't really believe I'd even lose 10 pounds.

I tried on the acid-washed "fancy pants" from awhile ago and I can actually zip them up halfway. The best part is that the pant legs are almost loose--these cannot be my legs:-) Don't get me wrong, I still have huge thighs and I've always worn shorts, but I'm much happier with the way "These Thighs" look.

I know what you mean about the jogging. I have always looked on in envy at the joggers on the street. While I was on my little walk on Monday I kept thinking, I wonder if I could run to that fence. I wonder how far I could run if I really tried.

Sadly, I didn't even attempt a light jog. The fear of people staring at me is way to intense. Which is stupid because they are looking at me walking! Maybe it is more of a fear that I wouldn't be able to do it. There is a certain comfort level in the maybe I could but will never know scenario. I am probably crazy. But anyway, props to you on jogging! That is wicked awesome.

Hey, we're feeling great, aren't we? Good for us! You're doing great! All that exercise! When I tried a little jogging, I just didn't feel comfortable, too much jiggling, I guess. And I felt like I was going to trip over my feet, haha. So I admire you in that. I haven't even done any walking for over a week now and I kinda miss it. Going to start back soon. Take care.

I ended up the day eating about 700 calories more than I intended including a couple of chicken strips and a baking powder biscuit with raspberry jam. As for exercise, I did 1 hr, 7 min/7.5 mi (40 min at level 1 incline). I'm finally getting to the point where I use both arms and legs all the time.

Happy Tuesday!

I'm happy to report another pound loss today! On my measurements I'm down less than an inch each in my calf, hips, arm and leg. The rest are the same. For exercise I mowed for a little over 2 hours.

I ate a big cheeseburger and a couple small chocolates. If I'd had another caramel apple with pecans I would have eaten that too, haha!

Glad to read that you are doing so well (the pecans sounds yummy!). I overate a little yesterday, but was so good about exercise that it probably counterbalanced yesterdays calories.

You asked if i count carbs,,,answer is No i don't,,i am not doing Atkins,,felt that was to restrictive for me,i am doing my version of the South Beach Diet,which is basically not eating,,Pasta,,Breads,Sweets,potatoes,Rice,,i don't eat those items,,also i am going to start eating bread,,100% whole wheat,but very limited on that when i do.Everyday just about i have one or two eggs,,bacon,,or ham,,but today i am having a fried egg sandwich on wheat bread,the lowest carb i could find,,Lunch usually is salad w/chicken or tuna & mayo,,sometimes a HB pattie without the bread,,or peice of steak w/salad and real dressing on the salad,,,,i do eat fruit,not alot,,but i eat some everyday,,Dinner is always,Meat grilled or fried in Olive oil,,salad w/ranch dressing,,2 good helpings of veggies,,and usually some fruit like strawberries or watermelon or cantaloupe,,,and i have lost steady since starting this and feel like a different person,,not just losing weight this time,,but my body is changeing,,it is hard to explain,,oh and i drink alot of water,keep reading that is very important with eating more protein,,i eat nuts between meals or meat w/ranch dressing,hope this explains what i am doing better for you. Oh and i also eat Beans couple times a week also.

Happy Mother's Day!

I had an excellent eating day yesterday--fried oysters and a caramel apple with pecans. The pecans really took my calories over the top. I paid close attention to my choices. I'm finding it alot easier to not eat out of boredom. I'm more patient choicewise, if that makes any sense:-)

Calories were a little high, but I ate well, enjoyed everything, and didn't overeat. So I didn't quite make the goals, but I got in some exercise--Airdyne bike for 1 hr, 6 min/15.5 mi/321 cal.

I bought some "high-dollar" socks for my running/walking excursions--$9.73--so much for outlet prices--they're not cheap! And in the fine print, it says to use liquid fabric softener so they'll last longer--what a bonus! I guess some companies do care if you come back to them a second time. (I can't stand using fabric softener on anything--a dryer sheet for certain things, but not as a rule.)

Happy Saturday!

I'm down a couple pounds--feels pretty good! I did a 40 min jog yesterday. I broke it up into 15 and 25 min. It was so very hazy--from smoke that's wafted up here from Mexico, so probably wasn't great air quality for jogging. It's supposed to clear out today.

Did 1 hr, 9 min/7.7 mi (50 min at level 1 incline) on the NordicTrack yesterday. Good to get that out of the way first thing in the morning. I did well on the goals.

I see no reason to keep my calories below anything but a 1000- to 1500-calorie deficit. I don't have any evidence that it's good or bad, but I know for me that if I maintain a terribly deprived day, I may go nuts with food the next day. Although I'd love to have a piece of that big ol' chocolate cake.

For the Kyrin-inspired Challenge this weekend, water--100 oz, maintain daily calorie deficit of at least 1000, eat 1800-2000 calories per day.

Thanks for the note on my diary. It was so insightful. You are right -- if we forgive ourselves for failing, it is easier to pick ourselves up again. Perhaps this is why Diet Diaries is so fantastic : all of us understand that we WILL fail now and then. We don't judge, we just help the person pick up the pieces. It's such a shame when people stop writing in their diaries because they broke their diet -- we would all learn so much (and offer support) if the person just continued to write about NOT wanting to diet!

Anyway, yesterday I stuck to the diet and worked-out, and again this morning I've already worked-out. So it looks like I'm back in the saddle again. But thank you for the note...it really helped me put everything in perspective!

I made the water goal for yesterday. The others were "not quite" met--that's okay. I had a very tough day for wanting to eat alot more than I did. For most of my adult life I've been used to eating just about anything I want. If there were an extra piece or two of chocolate sitting around, I'd eat them. Extras left of just about anything were fair game. So those days are over for now. It's good to test your resolve.

For my exercise I walked pretty briskly for 51 min. That's the longest walk I've taken in awhile. It sort of wiped me out--I imagine because I used different muscles than with the other exercise I've been doing. And the route I took had quite a few hills.

I noticed that you actually went out and got that new scale. Woo-hoo! Good for you, gal!

I've posted my goals for this weekend's challenge. Funny how you should mention eating the leftovers or more than one serving of something just because it's there. That is one of my goals this challenge--to eat what I want, but to only have one serving of anything per day.

I'm doing better with my liquids consumption...Thanks to you. {grins}

I'm trying to get "back on the wagon" after breaking the diet for over a week. My resolve doesn't feel very strong today. But I am inspired by how well you have been doing. Thank God for these diaries ... they really help with motivation!

Re: not being here for a few days... I was getting really discouraged with myself because I couldn't seem to turn off the munchies and was giving in to them. Plus, it was getting harder to talk myself into exercising.

I decided to lighten up on myself about the calorie counting and just get back to concentrating on the exercising, which is what this year is supposed to be about anyway. I feel as though I keep losing my focus. *sigh*

Knowing that you're with me on the challenges really helps me. Now, if I could just get this darned eating thing figured out...

Oh, well. We'll make it.

Hello All!

I'm up 1.5 pounds--today's the day I was supposed to be at 156--still I am pleased at the progress I made. And I'm able to actually wear some shorts I bought for $7 at Walmart about 2 years ago (Size 12--woo-hoo!). I can't actually believe my butt doesn't hang out of them:-)

I did my measurements, and I'm down a quarter inch in both waist and abdomen. I'm down a half inch in hips and down an eighth inch in my arm (I only measure my right arm). The rest are the same.

I didn't exercise yesterday. Funny how you have to stop for a day or two to realize how badly you needed the rest. I'm gettin' back to it today. The Kyrin Challenge goals for me (T-W-Th) are about the same: 100 oz water, at least 1000 cal deficit, and consume no more than 1800 cal per day.

Well, I got a new scale and weightwise it's quite the same as the old one; I'm kind of glad for that. I'm happier with this one because I have to manually zero the old one and it's kind of a drag (sometimes) to get it just right. I don't have to do that with this one. This one has half pound intervals, just right for me. And, I can step on it three times and get the same weight each time.
