Hi All!

I got the CD--woo-hoo! I kept one promise to myself:-) I want to share a link with you about the origins of binge eating--maybe it will enlighten you. It's kind of interesting; Study: Weak Gene--Not Weak Willpower--May Cause Binge-eating.

For my exercise yesterday I did my NordicTrack with a Circuit Aerobic Workout--NT for 5.5 mi/47 min and 20 min of weights, pushups, situps, etc, then a little stretching. Boy, did I need that workout--Whew!

Thanks for sharing link. It was an interesting read. Let's hope that society will now be more compassionate to the overweight. As a first step, I would like to see people make eye contact with me. I guess they think they are being polite by not staring, but instead it just makes me feel even more isolated.

I read that link, and I think we as addictive people like to have a crutch to lean on, and this is just another way to do that. We need to take responsibility for our actions and not blame other things for our weight problem. I binge too, and would love to blame it on a gene, but if I do, then that will give me an excuse to overeat, then I would take it too far. If I could just have that in the back of my head as information and not use it to my advantage (or disadvantage in my case), then that would be great. Sorry if this confused you. I just need to hold myself accountable for my actions and not blame this on anything, or anyone. It was enlightening, though. Thank you. I just need to learn to keep it all in perspective.

Today's my Birthday--I already had my cake (the other day) so that idea is out--maybe I'll splurge on a CD. I found a really old (from about 1970) tape of Led Zeppelin III and could barely hear "The Immigrant Song"--I remember that Christmas I got cassettes of that, Herb Alpert--the one with "This Guy's in Love," Jeannie C. Riley's "Harper Valley PTA," Glen Campbell with "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" and "Wichita Lineman," and Creedence Clearwater Revival with a bunch of goodies.

Fat and calories were too high--I'm working on it:-)

I did 51 min/5.8 mi on my NordicTrack (pre-breakfast) and took a 25 min jog later in the day. Don't remember the last time I jogged, but it had been some time ago. The weather was just wonderful--couldn't resist:-)

Happy birthday! You're right, too. You should splurge on a CD. It lasts so much longer than cake and ice cream and you can enjoy when you're driving, walking, reading, dancing, cleaning, etc. etc.

That water number is no mirage--I couldn't seem to get enough while doing my yard work. I'm going to give myself about 3 days to get back into a groove. I don't think I've done any real damage, but turning things around is going to take a little effort.

My food choices pretty much have been awful the last few days. The worst (actually the best:-) thing was a large piece of chocolate cake called "Ten Pound Cake" by the restaurant from whence it came. Four layers--irresistible! However, as for the past week, I had a deficit of 661. I'm not getting on the scale for my weekly weigh-in today, either. I'm going to pick up the pieces from this collapse.

One good thing that has come from sustaining various exercise, weights, etc for the last few months is that on Sunday for 3 hours and about 2 hours yesterday I did leaf raking and was exhausted afterward, but I have bounced back physically very easily from this--this time around. I've had no real soreness. My shoulders aren't sore--my hamstrings are a just little sore.

Wow! You did great with the water comsumption! That seems to be my continual downfall area. ...Oh, well. {grins} The cake sounds delicious. What a nice memory to have while you're out there creating a nice deficit for this week.

Ooooh, that cake sounds heavenly! Well, for me, it was cookies this weekend. At the walk-a-thon Saturday, they had little Subway sandwiches and Subway cookies to eat afterward. And little bags of regular Ruffles. They had way too much food so before we left, DH grabbed about a dozen cookies to take home. Guess who ate them all during the weekend?! The walk-a-thon was about 3 miles long and we had a good time. The weather was cool and nice. Okay, I'm back on the wagon with you. Let's do it!

Well I had two very poor food days. I met my activity goals with 13 min/1.4 mi NordicTrack on Saturday and about 30 min of sawing wood (not the sleeping kind--real big-time manual back and forth sawing!); Friday I did 48 min/5.5 mi on the NordicTrack. So today I have a chance to do better on the food part of the challenge.

I was "Googling" for something funny to read about weight loss a few days ago and found a website (intense-workout.com). In one of this person's little rants or instructions or thoughts, I found this:

These are the same people who probably believe in having "Cheat days." Cheat days are the 1 day of the week where some people allow themselves to cheat a little from their diet and give into their cravings, in moderation of course, kind of like a reward for the good work they did all week. Ya know what.. BULLSH*T! The hell with you and your cheat days. Your reward for sticking to your diet all week is 1 day of cheating? What kind of sh*t is this? Your reward for sticking to your diet all week is RESULTS! Remember them, the reason that you are on this diet and working out in the first place. To get results!!! Not to have a cheat day at the end of the week.

So I have to agree with this--after falling off the rails for most of this week--it doesn't really work for me.

I gotta go now!

Ha! Of course a "cheat day" won't work! I mean, what's to cheat? You make choices....and there are always consequences. But you did great with your activity! And the food will come along :)

Hello to you all!

I had a day yesterday where I did everything "okay" until night, then I realized that for the last two days I hadn't eaten the vegetables that I'd been including lately--salads, steamed veggies, etc. So I had a couple of cravings that just overwhelmed me--Pepsi and chocolate. I went overboard on the Pepsi, but had one serving of chocolate. There was probably a stress/lack of sleep aspect to this scenario as well. I could have eaten a banana or an apple--but I didn't:-) I'm not beating myself up. But I know how I should eat for me during the day and when I don't--well I get into a little trouble later on.

Anyway, I got in a NordicTrack workout (41 min/4.6 mi)--my efficiency is getting better. So today, despite my calories/fat being a little higher than my target for the last 3 or so days, I'm going to have a little bit of a "free" day--and then hit the Challenge (Kyrin) track for Saturday and Sunday.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it;-) Have a good one yourselves!

I went over a little on the fat grams. I skipped my early workout and took a 30-min walk in the evening. I needed the break for a little renewal.

I'm taking a relaxing day too. Hubby has the day off and I think we're going out to do some shopping, maybe lunch out as well.

I'm anxious to see what the scale and tape measure have to say about things tomorrow. ...I still have a ways to go to get those 18s zipped and buttoned, but I'm comfortably wearing the tightest pair of 20s that I have (which a few weeks ago were sorely digging into my waistline)! They're baggy and feel nice now though.

We're making progress!

Re: your comment to me...I know what you mean about your tummy keeping you in a size larger pair of pants/jeans. The 18s fit me fine in the legs and butt. It's that darned tummy pouch that's keeping me out of them. But not for long! I think that if we can do something about the tummy fat, we'll be sliding down those sizes lickity split. LOL

A few months ago, I was having a hard time keeping the fat% under 30 or 35% of my day's intake. Now, I'm routinely between 25 to 30, and sometimes lower. All it took was a good reason to <i>want</i> to do it.

You drank over 110 ounces of water? Wow! That's great. I appreciate how hard that is to do. I was trying to drink 120 ounces of water a day for several days last week and it was very difficult to get it all in and then there were all the potty breaks:)

Hi and Happy Tuesday!

I'm down a pound--couldn't be more surprised. Had to do a double-take and turn on another light just to make sure of what I was seeing! And I'm a half-inch closer to buttoning my old jeans. I'm down a whopping 2 inches in my measurements!

Yesterday I did an early NordicTrack workout (5.3 mi/49 min). I've been doing this early workout every day for quite a few days now, so I'm going to take a break from it today and maybe do it later on or something else.

I got in a quick (15 min) Circuit Workout with weights, but only had time to do all the exercises and then ride the Airdyne bike for 5 min. Earlier I did a pre-breakfast workout on the NordicTrack (51 min/5.5 mi). Now I need sleep!

I had a higher everything but fiber and water day! But I got in plenty of activity (NordicTrack a.m.: 51 min/5.5 mi and about 1 hour of yard work). I'll be back on track with food today. I thoroughly enjoyed some fried chicken without the skin and a biscuit.

I really need to make a commitment to my weight work at least 2 days/week. So I'll get that in today (Circuit Aerobic Workout).

Go, Biscotti! It's a weights day for me too. {grins} Probably not the smartest thing right before weigh-in (nice water retention after a hard workout), but it was on the schedule. LOL So, in for a penny, in for a pound. I added in some make-up weights work to today's schedule. If I can still move in the morning, I'll crawl toward the scale and hope for better numbers.
