Happy Thursday!

Wednesday was a "fits and starts" kind of day. I did my last installment of jog 15 min/walk 1 min/jog 4 min X 1--now I'll be doing at least 20 min per session starting with the next one. I'll probably stick with skipping two days between sessions until I can get my weight down a bit more, then I may still stick with it--it's been a fine plan for me and I think possibly has kept me from injury or burnout. I look forward to my jogging:-)

Of course on some of the off days I certainly plan to get back to using weights and my NordicTrack. For the last several weeks, I've only been doing the jog/walk thing. I noticed especially today that taking those two days off completely made it a little harder to slough off the cobwebs of inactivity.

Here's to all of us making better choices--have a great day!

shellybelly on 10/24/2002:
Yeah, I haven't exercised in ages. I'm a little scared to think of how hard it is going to be for me to get started again, but I'm all for making better choices. Have a great day and keep up the good work!! :-) Shelly

Oh to get back to where you are. You are so inspiring. Take care of yourself.

Happy Tuesday!

I am rethinking my goals--because in a few more days, I will have not made my first goal. I really haven't been too serious about my food choices. I've been downright out of control, and I'm going to try to get a copy of a book I found mentioned on some website. It's called Overcoming Overeating by Jane Hirschmann (and others). It's in paperback. If anyone is familiar with it, I'd like to know what you think
of it.

I did my jog 15 min/walk 1 min/jog 4 min on Sunday--still on schedule.

Weight Goals:
159# for 12.3--then from there,
152# for 1.1.2003, and
145# for 1.29.2003.

As for my BMI, it's 29 as of today, so 1 more point up and I'll be back in the "obese" range. I'm going to try to get back to using FitDay (every day:-)--I'm leaving my "Current Diet" as is and am going to seriously use it. I plan to get on here every day.

This is getting really old--planning and making goals, but not following through. I know I can do it, and I know I can give and get great support here. So here I go again--upward?, downward;-), and especially onward!

Have a good evening, ya'll!

MichelleP on 10/22/2002:
Hi,

Your right this is a great place to get and give the support it takes to make our goals and dreams come true. We all tend to get into a lull or for whatever reason take breaks, or need to redo our plans. Know that I am here for you , every step, if you ever need to chat, let me know and I will do all I can! HUGS

kyrin on 10/23/2002:
Hi, Biscotti! It does look like you're not going to make that goal. Darn it. Going back to Fitday sounds like a good plan to help you see what you need to do to get the food back in line. ...However, it looks as if (from your new time table) that you are really setting yourself for some future struggles in meeting the lastest goal dates. You sure do like a challenge, huh? My first thought was, "She's going to try to lose 17 pounds during the holiday season? WOW! That's determination!" You'd be my hero if you did it! I'm a lot further away from my goal than you are, but I don't think I could pull that one off. I'll be cheering for you whatever goals you chase, you know that. I'm just concerned that you are setting yourself up for some stressful times during the holidays. ...Me? My track record isn't that stellar for being able to stick with it and get the scale to move. I'd be thrilled right down to my toes if the scale would give up a pound a week (and stay off) between now and then--especially with the holiday treating and chesting. Hmmmmmm. Let's see that would be about 10 pounds. A nice consistant pound a week? ...and a sane holiday? That's probably wishful thinking...but aren't the holidays for wishing? LOL

Drank all my water
I was going and going
Waterlogged for now

I gotta get back to my water drinking--I do so much better when I drink at least 60 oz per day. So raise your glass with me--Cheers!

For yesterday, I drank >60 oz water.

I have mentioned getting back to my Circuit Aerobic Workout--I am gonna do it today--by golly! Time waits for no one! A watched pot never boils!

I have a "Dr Phil" moment to share with you all. I watched one of the episodes of it this week--I think it was about perfectionism (or something like that)--wait, it was the one where the guy wouldn't finish family home building projects--and his job was as a carpenter. I could relate to his argument, etc. But the thing Dr Phil pointed out as a possibility for his non-follow-through was maybe he thought if he finished a project, then he could/would finally be judged on his handiwork and that he was avoiding that at all costs.

In a way, that's sort of where I find myself with my weight loss project. It's sort of simplistic, but at some point I'll have to say, "Okay ya'll, I'm done!" "Now it's time to maintain!" or something like that.

As I said, I think it's a little more complicated from where my derriere sits at the moment, but there is an element of fear of success in this deal.

Hope you have a good day!

Thanks for the response to my journal. Some of these restaurants make you jump through hoops to get their nutrition facts. Right know I'm going through this with Friendly's. They want you to e-mail or call their 800 number with every item that you want data on. Their rational´┐Ż is that their menu changes so fast they couldn't publish it often enough. I guess they've never heard of Adobe Acrobat.

I notice that you drink a lot of water. The reason I bring this up is if you drink too much you will affect your electrolytes. There was a story on the radio a couple of days ago where a Mother & Father would punish their baby child 2 gallons of water a day. They killed her, and in the autoposy it was found that her electrolytes were completely depleted.

inmorning on 10/19/2002:
I need to get back to drinking my water too. I hardly drink any anymore. I think I will start out a little slower though. Good luck. Take care hon.

Firebabe on 10/20/2002:
What an insightful entry today. I must say I have not thought on that perspective before, but it rings a air of familuarity with me as well. In my case seems whenever I start doing really good, can nearly taste the victory so to speak, it is then that I slack off, ease up a bit... Perhaps the challange has become so much a part of me, I question, well what would I do next? Humm time to make some maintance plans and goals to work for, perhaps the 'rewards' we allow ourselves once we have reached that point? Good thoughts Biscotti, you have me thinking!!

Happy Friday!

I did my Jog session yesterday--it's back on the original schedule
again--no big deal. I actually did 30 min straight jogging. This is the first time for me to jog this long in many years (maybe 20:-) and I'm very pleased with the results of this outing.

Have a great day!

Yea, Biscotti! This is a big thing...the first time in perhaps 20 years?!! ATTAGIRL! You should indeed be pleased. ...and proud of yourself for sticking with your program.

Jog 15/Walk 1/Jog 4 X 1. It went fine. Plan for next jog/walk tomorrow.

Have a good day!

Donut Funtime!

Donuts jumped into my basket at the store and rendered me helpless to their lure; I didn't throw them back. The friendly Mrs Baird's "supplier/dealer" was there to make sure I had the freshest ones. Then I ate them. I've been eating a few things that I haven't touched in years. Like Chee*tos and Famous Amos CC Cookies. I've got to get my eating resolve back and try to hang on. I can't keep falling off. Well, I can keep falling off, but I'll be in this same place (or worse) in 6 weeks and still whining to you all;-)

I did do my Jog 12/Walk 1/Jog 7 X 1 on Friday. It really is getting easier. I got a new watch--haven't used it yet--planning for Jog 15/Walk 1/Jog 4 for today.

I've been looking at my next training set. It's for 6 weeks, then you just add for the next two 6-week sessions. The first week is 2 miles for 2 days then a 30-minute run at the end of the week. Or there's an interval thing I can do with 20-min runs. I'm not really done with this one until the first part of November, so I'll have to see.

Hope you have a great evening!

kyrin on 10/13/2002:
Oh ye-ah! Do you think it has anything to do with our changable weather? One day it's hot and sunny and then next it's definitely got that fall tinge to it...cooler, damper weather. I wish it would stop that, darn it! I'm not going to make it through the winter without gaining a ton, if I don't gain some control over the bready things before colder weather sets in. I was denying myself processed breads during the challenge...and look where that got me. The first thing I did was grab something that normally wouldn't have gotten a second look. You are, at least, falling back in with your old friends. LOL

Here's to us. May we be stronger than we think we are.

Hugs!

Kyrin

Happy Thursday!

It's good to "see" some faces from the past coming back around. Strange how easy it is to wax nostalgic from even just a few months ago:-) Feels kinda like home!

I did my Jog 12 min/Walk 1 min/Jog 7 min X 1 today--just one day off from my original schedule. Didn't get in my Circuit Aerobic Workout--gotta get recommitted to that one. My food choices have been a mixed bag. Anyway . . . I'll see you all later.

Have a nice Thursday!

kyrin on 10/10/2002:
Hey, Biscotti! Push... Breathe...Push! Sounds like labor, huh? That's just your labor coach cheering you toward a new healthier life--yours. Come on, push it just a litte harder. Your goals are within reach!

Hugs!

Hi All!

Newsflash: Food is STILL my weakness--what is it about this time of year? Does my body REALLY want to gain 10 pounds back--I guess so, for the winter. I can't let it happen. And I haven't been keeping track in my little diary or FitDay--so I'm in the process of cleaning up my act here. I've written it all down so far today.

My behind is slightly behind in its quest for 159. But I have a little wiggle room built into the goal--that reminds me;-) Most of my jeans are already baggy in the butt--so I figure by the time I get to about 150, I'll be well into most 12s--at least I hope so.

I did the third out of 5 installments of my Jog 12"/Walk 1"/Jog 7" X 1
(" = minutes--not inches--hahaha!). I felt okay. It's amazing how I don't get winded like I remember the first time. That was yesterday. Circuit Aerobic Workout for today--sore butt for tomorrow--I'm sure:-)

Gotta go--you all have a nice evening!

starlight on 10/07/2002:
thats right - you fight that tendency to gain in the fall and winter. you can do it. 2 lbs a week. you can do it for sure - have a good night and hang in there Kim

It is just great to see your name again: and to read of your determination..... your hard work. I will be following your story each day now. I am so disappointed in myself for losing absolutely all the ground I struggled to make. But, a plan........ and friends once was the perfect formula and I am betting that it can be again. Do you think?

Happy Friday!

What I tried on Wednesday was Jog 12 min/Walk 1 min/Jog 7 min X1--what I actually did was 6 min--I tried to go about an hour after stuffing myself after dinner. Couldn't do it--I'm not 20 years old anymore. I used to be able to go to happy hour and then go work out--those days are gone forever;-) Unless someone finds the Fountain of Youth!

So yesterday I did this--> I got out to do the Jog 12/Walk 1/Jog 7 X 1 and because of my failure of a watch, I did what I know is 1 mile (somehow I stopped the watch so I have no idea what the time was, so I substituted the mile distance). Then did the 7 min. So I'm one day off again. I hope I'll get back on track in the next couple days.

Hope you have a great day!

Soon2BThin on 10/04/2002:
Sounds like you're doing great to me! I'm trying to add some speed sprints and hills too but I'm nothing like you. But you are in my mind every time I work out, Biscotti. Have a great weekend.

SoccerMom on 10/05/2002:
I'm proud of you for exercising. I had every intention, but never quite got there. I've got to take daughter to a soccer game in a bit, and will have to walk a ways from the car to the field...so that's a start! Hubby's gone today, so Gilad will get me moving this afternoon...hahaha. Have a great weekend!

Oh Happy Wednesday!

I did my jog/walk on Sunday. I had planned for a 30 min (all) jog. The air was heavy and humid and pollution filled (Red level), but I went anyway thinking it'd be okay. Well I did 13 min, then walked a bit, then 7 min jog, then walked another little bit, then jog for 1 min. It was all I could do. So tomorrow is Jog 12 min/Walk 7 or something like that.

I'm down 2 pounds and I did my measurements yesterday and it's kind of strange--my hip measure has gone up since I've been jogging. In fact my waist:hip ratio is 0.81. I didn't think I'd get to 0.80 by increasing my hips. Anyway, I can tell by the way my pants fit my butt is much smaller--go figure. Everything else is just about the same as it was about 2 months ago when I checked it last. Except my abdomen--don't ask;-)

Hope you have a great day!

kyrin on 10/02/2002:
Good for you, Biscotti! It's great to see you going after your goals again. You and I have been on this site forever...and I think we pretty much weight what we did when we met. Stuck on dead center? Nah. I'm glad that you and SoccerMom have gotten together and are going forward again.

You can do it! I know that you can!

Hugs!

Kyrin

starlight on 10/02/2002:
wow I wish I could jog. I jog back and forth in my room and im working my way up time wise, but outside? forget about it. lol so anyway, congrats, you seem to be doing great. keep it up - Kim

SoccerMom on 10/02/2002:
Woo-hooooo!! Congrats on another 2 pounds GONE! I'm so happy for ya. (No, really I am!) I know we're racing to 150's, but I hope to get there first! haha

I'll weigh next week sometime, and post any losses. I'm hoping that the muscle I'm building will eventually start to burn fat, and the scale will go DOWN, instead of up. I'm hovering at 164 lately, and hoping that it's just good solid muscles that weigh so much. haha

Have a great day!

MichelleP on 10/02/2002:

Way to go on your loss! You are doing awesome. Also way to go on your jogs! Take care and becareful with the code red days, I know how hard those are on the body. Hugs
