If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style. --Quentin Crisp

Hello from behind the 8-ball, again!

I'm shaking my head--no self control. (I do care!) I did my exercise--NordicTrack 53 min, short walk, and a bit of yard cleanup.

As for my plan--it's one day at a time, pre-prepare all meals, make reasonable choices and get a handle on the portions. Strawberry for the Slimfast sounds pretty good:-)

I'm not saying today won't be terrible, food-choice wise, but again--I'm not giving up on ME!

Have a wonderful day and stay cool!

misha on 07/25/2002:
What a quote!! Quite unique but obviously not your mentality if you are not giving up. Stay positive and think cool thoughts.

take care

Nope...Failure is definitely not your style. {grins}

I've found myself gravitating toward breads again...so today is a breadless day. It can be fun and challenging to try to find filling things that aren't breads. There is quite a lot to choose from and tends to help me shift my perspective. Maybe a no-added fat challenge for you? Fruits, veggies, grilled meats, etc. The possibilities are practically endless. ...I find that it usually helps me to do without for one day. I know that I can make it through the day...and usually feel so good after eating successfully that I don't find myself overindulging for a while.

We are such funny creatures, aren't we?!?

Hope your day is going well.

Happy Wednesday!

Looks like I don't learn at all hahaha! I'm not gonna bake anything else, ever! I baked some blueberry muffins (needed to use the berries and they were lifeless-tasting alone). I couldn't resist! I'm way behind now on my deficit and I'm going to have to take measures--possibly drastic measures. What's the best SlimFast flavor--anyone even have a favorite?

I did 34 min on the Airdyne--1 min hard, 2 min easy--not a boring workout at all. Anyway . . . I'll be back later!

BBRae on 07/24/2002:
Hi! I have a muffin problem too!! I can't leave them alone!! My favorite Slimfast flavor is the Strawberry cream and the Orange banna strawberry in the soy milk. They are pretty good. Chocolate is good but it too chocolaty for me, if that is possible!!!!!

Have a great day!!! ~Cindy

My neighbor says Strawberry, banana, & orange is the best flavor. She says if you put it in the freezer until it is almost frozen it tastes like a smoothie.

Hi and Happy Tuesday!

I went up an inch overall on my measurements--given the cookie transgression of the last week, I'm not too bent out of shape! I did about 20 min of yard cleanup. Actually it was more like taking a sauna. I was gathering up branches to tie up and I was in the shade, but it was a bit of a workout. Took a short dogwalk and then I did 56 min on the NordicTrack early. I also did 15 min Airdyne and 25 min of Circuit (wts/floor ex).

My neck is still a little stiff, but I'm moving okay. I envy every one of you when I read, ". . . and then I jumped in the pool . . ." It'd be nice to have a pool!

Have a good food day--see you later!

inmorning on 07/23/2002:
Just keep going. As much time as you spend on that nordictrack (which I started doing again) you should be able to kick all our -sses. Take care.

Happy Monday!

I'm back on track with eating today (I wasn't yesterday:-). I ate a really dissatisfying cheeseburger yesterday, too.

My numbers should start improving--if they start looking outlandish--don't worry, I plan to be eating enough!

See you all later!

Hi - i am really not good about counting my calories - maybe that might really help me see where I am over doing it - but of course I know where I do it usually - like those cookies I had yesterday and those chips!! Ok - we are on our way to 10 pounds lighter!!

Hi All!

Thank goodness my yesterday is over--only did a 10 min walk (obviously not enough to offset that calorie count:-) and just a little yard work.

I'm back on track today--already got some exercise in and quite a bit of water. My neck is better too--just a little sore.

Hope you have a good food choice day--see you later!

kyrin on 07/21/2002:
Biscotti, what's up with the fat grams for the past two days? Were you still eatin' those darned cookies? LOL

It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.
--Neil Armstrong (First person to walk on the moon--Today's the 33rd Anniversary)

I'm coming to you from THE DANGER ZONE--all the red lights are flashing and the sirens are whining! The cookies had about 30 more calories each than the amount I was figuring--I know this, because I took time out to check and I put it in a spreadsheet--a little obsessive I know.

Here's the deal, the number I really use to see how I'm doing is on the "Reports" section of FitDay.com--it's how many more calories burned on a weekly basis and it's usually around 1,000 per day--this has pretty much kept me on an even keel--not losing/gaining. So with the adjustment to my beloved COOKIES--it's beyond my tolerance--way beyond!

I got a lovely stiff neck from the sawing I did the other day--I guess I did a little more than I should have. Anyway, I'm gonna get on the ball for some exercise here soon--come hell or high water. The thing that was scary was that I fell asleep on the couch last night and woke up just about ready to fall over from the pain. I must have been stuck in some weird position for a couple hours and my ear felt like it was going to fall off. I almost had to push myself to the floor I was so stiff and couldn't move. Then when I got up I thought I was going to fall over.

I tried "Light Life Smart Chik'n Strips." Those are the soy ones that Garlic mentioned in her diary--I have to say they are really good--much better than their "Smart Dogs."

Thanks for all your fine comments--have a good evening and I'll see you later!

kyrin on 07/20/2002:
Ouch! Would a nice warm bath or shower help with the neck cramp? Ya think? Those cramps really hurt...

Sorry about the bad cookie news. ...But you know that when we play, we have to pay. Make the cookie littler next time? LOL

lisa_001 on 07/20/2002:
Thanks for the encouraging comments. Beware of those cookies...they can also be the key to my undoing as well. Great job on burning so many calories! Keep up the good work!

God Bless!

Happy Friday!

I mowed, sawed a little (using a bow saw--fun!--for about 10 seconds!) and did general yard work. I feel like the "burned" calories should be higher, but ya' know it's a guideline anyway--nothing like rocket science haha--another day will make it even out:-)

My cookie count was 5 for yesterday. They're called "oh my" chocolate chip or something like that--and they are REALLY REALLY good! I'm trying to go down in the count day-by-day, but I'm not gonna deprive myself as long as I'm doing okay on my exercise.

Ya'll have a good exercise day and I'll see you later!

CharlieAngel on 07/19/2002:
Great attitude! It really isn't about deprivation but about fitting it into your life. You are exercising which makes it ok to indulge your cravings a bit! And there sure is enough to worry about in our lives that worrying about eating a few measly cookies just isn't in the cards. It just totally frustrates me when someone thinks they blew it because they ate a couple of slices of pizza for dinner one day. Think of it in the big picture scope...before you changed your lifestyle, could you have ONLY eaten two slices of pizza? Not me!! I was definitely a whole pizza is better than a slice girl! You just keep on getting that exercise in. You are doing GREAT!!!! Love ya, Charlotte

You are doing really great! I know all about mowing! We live on 2 acres (1 acre is yard) and I push mowed the whole thing last weekend. I should have burned enough calories to eat a whole box of chocolate chip cookies! Have a great day! Tammy :-)

Hi All!

I got my good Circuit Aerobic Workout in and really pushed myself--also did 5 sets of 80 ab exercises. On the other hand the cookies took a hit--that accounts for the brunt of the fat grams above. Will power and cookies really don't go together--haha! Eating the cookies was almost as good as the workout in a weird way.

Another day ya'll, have a good one!

Having once decided to achieve a certain task, achieve it at all costs of tedium and distaste. The gain in self confidence of having accomplished a tiresome labor is immense. --Thomas A. Bennett

Happy Wednesday!

I made and ate a bunch (7--yikes!) of chocolate chip cookies yesterday. I wanted to keep some on hand to eat one a day if I felt like it--testing again:-) I think I can do it!

I did 54 min on the NordicTrack on Sunday--didn't do anything on Monday or yesterday--was still a little sore from weight workout on Saturday and had a little catch in my shoulder blade--should be fine to get back to it today though.

I saw a little news piece on "Night Eating Syndrome" yesterday and was trying to find an article about it. It's not the one where you wake up and eat or eat in your sleep. The gist of it was a stressful day triggers it and you end up getting most of your calories after 8 p.m. I guess to deal with the stress--well it sounded just like me. The thing is that on Friday and Saturday of last week I was able to not eat late in the evening and felt great. Want to see if I can swing 3 days in a row. Even if I mess up I'm at least armed with the information that I feel better when I "do better!"

I get the quotes from a variety of websites and a few books I have on hand. I can get quite caught up in looking for good ones:-)

Hope you all have a good exercise day!

inmorning on 07/17/2002:
I can't make cookies or I will totally fold until I am sick and can't move. Then I lay down and get better, and make myself sick all over again. I can actually almost smell the chocolate chip cookies talking about them.
