(Burn Fat Faster Workout/WDDFW)
Weight: 178.0

I Took a break from working out yesterday. I had a very good diet day, had some very good braised ribs (home-cooked). I am trying to keep the diet in perspective with common sense when I eat outside of it.

I feel good and if no one asks if I have lost weight (not having seen me for awhile), well I just tell them and that I've changed my diet and am exercising regularly. Some people will get this "IknowsomethingaboutherisdifferentIwonderwhatitis" look about them--those are the ones I'm talking about. My clothes are looser, but I'm not quite down to the next size--of course it depends on the brand, too. At any rate I can get into my stretched-out 14 Wrangler's, but not quite my old size 14 Levi's.

Thanks for all the support--have a great day everyone! The best to us in our food choices.

Weight: 179.0

I didn't start out with very good food choices, but I redeemed myself and I also had a good workout. I did 30 min each on the ex bike and NordicTrack. No weights, but did my leg lifts, 2 sets of 25. Not much else. I did get down to 178 the other day, but I'd like to sustain it for a couple days before I actually change it on here.

About the calorie count on the two ex machines. The bike showed that I did 7.0 miles with about 200 calories burned--sounds reasonable--using your arms and legs. The NordicTrack (and I've adjusted the resistance value down--the range is 0-50) showed about 420 calories for 4.5 miles. The work is about the same in my estimation. So I guess I'll adjust it down. Of course, it doesn't matter, because I first approach it with how much time I want to spend and then look at the calories. Just thought I'd throw this out for discussion/interest. I really am pleased with my progress thus far--I wasn't sure that I would stick to the diet/food changes, but I'm feeling optimistic that I will continue to my goal. I'm shooting for December and 136-142 lbs.

Thanks for all your fine comments and have a lovely day--maybe Herb and Ron can send some of that cool NY weather to Texas for at least a day . . . ya'll take care.

Digit on 07/16/2001:
You're doing well with the exercise. It really is the key to losing it quicker (and in the right places). Keep it going.

Ron on 07/16/2001:
<font color=blue> I would be happy to send our weather your way. My cousin Jack was 11 yrs my senior and came to the USA from Holland before I did and served in the US army and his home is in Houston, Tex. Though unfortunately he passed on a couple of years ago I had the opportunity on a trip back from Hawaii visiting my daughter with my girl friend, and her son, from Quebec, Jack did point out to me that you dont go anywhere without an a/c and move from one area to another just changing the cooling system. It was horrendous and although I was extremely impressed by the great architecture of the buildings in Houston the heat did me in. -:)

halley on 07/16/2001:
You have plenty of time to get to 136 by December!!! No problem! Just keep up the exercise, you'll get there!

I had an above average diet day. Just enough water. The nighttime eating is still a problem. I did my NordicTrack for 45 min with some exercise thrown in (weights and abs) to break up the pace. I will try to get on and follow some of your successes over the weekend. Take care and have an enjoyable weekend!

Thanks for your encouraging comments. I will continue to follow everyone's progress. Keep up the good work on your weight loss journey.

It's a very selfish endeavor, at least for me, but it is so worth getting into that next smaller size, being able to walk that next extra half mile, or just looking at yourself in the mirror and smiling at yourself and saying "Yessssssss!!!

I inadvertently fasted most of the day. I am NOT that kind of person--I have always gotten hungry before I ever had the opportunity (haha) to fast. Needless to say I was off-diet. I was out in the heat of the day and I did drink alot of water. No exercise, but a whole lot of unorganized sauna activity; i.e., sweating my butt off throughout the day hahaha . . .

I had an incredible "loose blue jeans" day. I know that they're stretched out and probably look horrendous, but there's just nothing to compare to being comfortable if not slobby.

During this diet/lifestyle change, I have had very few soft drinks, etc. I don't particularly care for diet drinks, so if I have a Pepsi or something, it's the regular kind. I've noticed that any sugar drink at this stage just doesn't work. Gatorade included--I felt like I really needed it and I would have done better to just have plain water. So, I'm still learning (and stumbling here and there) foodwise and also still learning to keep on focus. Starting out the day without at least breakfast is a sure way to be tempted to veer off the rest of the day.

Have a good day and the best to you on your food choices--I need to make better choices too!

That's how we learn, trial and effort. Yestersday you learned a new thing, your dieting and ultimately your life's the richer for it. I'm also learning, stumbling learning, and the water has become such a good lesson for me. Have a great day!

hi! excuse me, what is the "burn fat faster workout?" ive never heard of it! and im curious. i do mostly tae bo and walking.

herb on 07/13/2001:
Stewarts is a small chain of convenience food stores in upstate N.Y. I think they have about 350 stores, large enough though that some madman is let loose to concoct new flavors. As close as I can remember "Crumbs along the Mohawk" consists of caramel syrup, vanilla ice cream, and Graham cracker crumbs.

Addenda: Just dropped back to say that every area of the country have their own ice cream companies. We have Hersheys ice cream which has nothing to do with the chocolate company in Hershey Pennsylvania, and the other one is Perry's. I assume every local company have their own flavors.

Had a 66% diet day (2 out of 3 meals were on-diet). I had an excellent workout-->did Burn Fat Faster Workout, which included 8 exercises of weights, abs, and leg work. Then to top it off I did 30 minutes on the NordicTrack. I drank at least 100 oz of water.

I feel like I stepped up the pace purty dern good--Yeeehaaah! Did 2 sets of 25 leg lifts. Have a good day!

I'm on course with the diet again--what a yawn--I have learned something at least: It seems to work when you follow it hahaha . . .

Did NordicTrack for 45 min and a 10 min walk. I was reading something earlier that mentioned that losing more than 2 pounds a week (assume you're only dieting--not exercising--not sure about that either) could result in gallstones. Anyone ever heard this? I will investigate further, but would appreciate any info anyone has on this subject.

Gotta go. Best wishes to everyone in their quest for health, happiness, and beauty!!!

Weight: 180.0

Did my diet yesterday evening and for the first time in a long time I didn't eat past about 8 p.m. I wasn't hungry either. My workout was the usual NordicTrack + interval. I did 2 sets of leg lifts. All in all, I felt pretty good. Water-wise, I probably only had about half of what I should have.

Even though my weight is about the same, I have a loss in measurements to report. There isn't a spot for the most significant loss (to me), abdomen: -2.5 inches since 6.23--I'm just so impressed by this. Contrast that with my waist, which is no loss at all for the same period of time.

I'm getting some good feedback which I foolishly thought I didn't need. I admit it feels really great when others notice the change. It's been a really long time since I had a change in the way that I look.

Hope all is going well with everyone on DDs. Keep up the good work--I'll be right there along with you!

halley on 07/10/2001:
That is an impressive drop in inches!!!!! I have such trouble staying away from the kitchen at night, but I just keep working at it. I'm quite sure that if I did not work and stayed home with the kids I would be HUGE!!! I would have just grazed ALL DAY!!! I guess that's one reason to like working - at least it keeps me out of the fridge!

Let's see now, there's a big difference between how I was eating 3 weeks ago and how I ate the last three days. I mean that in a positive way, even though I wasn't perfect, I was mindful.

In nine chances, I was all over the map. I was "on-diet" for at least 5 meals and I skipped 2 meals. Then, I over-ate out for 2 meals and actually had my first bread in about 3 weeks (it was the vehicle for some lovely chicken salad that I made--mmmmm). I'm not beating myself up, and I'm not quite back to full speed dietwise, but I know that if I want to continue to lose, I will have to re-focus. Someone actually told me my neck was surely smaller--I said, "Thank you!"

My last workout was Friday: NordicTrack + interval weights + I did some lunges (without any weights) and some squats. I could still feel it yesterday. All in all a very satisfying workout--goes much faster when I break up the aerobic activity with those interval weights. Yesterday I was in the house all day, but very active cooking and cleaning, etc.

Since I'm still only about 1.5 months into fairly regular exercise, I'm trying not to overdo it by working out strenuously EVERY day. I can definitely feel a difference. I usually end my workout with leg lifts and they have gotten so much easier--I can do all 20 without stopping, so I'm getting there.

To borrow from PastaGal, consistency--easy does it--and one day at a time will get me where I want to be. My focus is ALWAYS there--I just have to act upon it. Have a good day and take care of yourselves!!!

halley on 07/09/2001:
I just really love when something that was difficult becomes easy. Of course that means I have to increase my intensity, but it does mean progress. Your muscles are getting bigger, burning more calories even when you are doing nothing. It's an awesome side effect!

<font color=blue> I like your quote. It somehow just never worked for me so after 15 yrs I threw her out, good riddance. It was all there same formula, focus, consistency, easy does it, one day at a time, <B>OR WAS IT ONE TIME A DAY ? ? ?I think that she forgot to read where it said some thing to the effect "In sickness and in Health"

For exercise I did a 15 min walk. My diet was as scheduled, except I overdid it on the flan--had a couple servings (not part of the plan). I drank plenty of water.

I'm eliminating caffeine after 6 p.m. and plan to limit my coffee to 2 cups per day. I have lost my compulsion for caffeine on this diet thus far (at least it's diminished).

I'm skipping around (reading) the "Protein Power" book and it is so encouraging. Although, I may never try it, it certainly has a lot of "food for thought." I certainly wouldn't have looked into it had I not seen DVDMon's success with it.

In my case, my carbohydrate intake doesn't qualify for Atkins or Protein Power, nor does it satisfy the recommendation from dietitian.com (which is Fat:25% Protein:15% Carbohydrate:60%). On this site you can't even put anything lower than 55% Carbs when you do your profile. To lose weight, you are expected to lower your calories. I once thought this was realistic (for myself) but it's not. I would like to try those guidelines when I get down to below a BMI in the obese range, but since what I'm doing is working for me now, I'm gonna "dance with the one that brung me!!!" As each day passes I can see it as a permanent diet change. (I'm keeping my fingers crossed;-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good news about the caffine. Less coffe means more room for water!

I was off the diet yesterday for the most part (mint chocolate ice cream) but I did my exercise: NordicTrack for 45 min and a 15 min walk. I'm trying to stay focused and take it a day at a time. I'm still trying to drink plenty of water, didn't do too well on that front yesterday. Oh well, onward and upward!
