Current BMI=27.5 My Realistic BMI Goal=22.8 (133)

For my activity: NordicTrack 28 min/2.8 mi

Gotta get that circuit in today!

I ate two Dove MC Truffle Eggs--the nutritional info wasn't on the pkg, so I went to foodfacts.com and they're 150 calories each--whoa Millie!

I'm out of the red on my Running Def!

So here are my goals: Water 80 oz, count calories, etc and maintain at least a 1000 cal/day deficit. Scheduled Circuit Workouts otherwise no particulars for activity.

Plan for today: NTrack, Circuit Workout, Walk

Don't give up!

Yeah I stay away from those eggs at all costs lol.

greengirl on 03/10/2008:
Thanks Biscotti for your words of advice and common sense. Keep on doing your thing, and showing us the way :0) . Watch out for those candy eggs. We have Cadbury Creme Eggs here in the UK and they are irrisistable !!!

thinnsidenotout on 03/10/2008:
Uh..........Oh........!!!!! I have to keep that kind of stuff (bagged candies, etc) in the freezer or I would dive in hands, feet and all, eating my way out of the bag...I do'nt like frozen chocolate, but the rest of the family does.So works perfect!.... I will have a piece of whatever chocolate I desire on Easter though....

Hit the circuit!....Have a great evening.... :}

maria777 on 03/10/2008:
Yes, it is GOOD to know what the nutritional info is...one time I ate a cup of boiled peanuts, not realizing they were about 600 cals!!! WOW! I thought they were only about 200 cals at the time! Big smile to you!

yaz on 03/11/2008:
yeah the chocolate can take a dive into your calorie count... i stay away =( but sadly I've never wanted a snickers so bad in my life and I'm not even a sweet tooth person, its just sitting in the vending machine calling my name -- why can't chocolate be healthy darn it!

Jan was a good month for jogging--9 days. Only one day in Feb and one so far in Mar--so since I was a little sore from the 12 min test, I skipped the wt trng. Have missed out on some sleep the last few days as well, so maybe today. Not gonna commit right now!

Hacking away at that horrendous neg def. Good job me--haha! :-)

It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop. --Confucius

For my activity:
Mon: NordicTrack 51 min/5.5 mi
Tues-Thur: Nothing
Fri: DogJog 12 min/Walk 15 min

My Tuesday weigh-in is what it is--I'm up 1.5 pounds. On my measurements I'm up nearly 3 inches overall--yikes! I noticed that I haven't had a calorie count of 3000 or above since Jan 17th, so I'm learning something;-)

Sadly, the snow fizzled out--I was looking forward to a winter wonderland, at least from the looks:-) Then we were supposed to get a few inches Thursday--it didn't happen!

I kinda fizzled out too. I think I'll be able to get all my activity in today. Nevertheless, I did a 12-min test for my jog yesterday, and I can say that it was the same result (.9 mile) as the last two (from last year). So that's a good thing, but as always there's room for improvement owing to--at the very least--future weight loss!

Sun: NordicTrack 61 min/6.9 mi; Circ Aer Wkt using Airdyne (18 min/3.7 mi)

Well, I didn't start Saturday. I had good intentions--then I just said to myself, "Screw it!" I'm finding more and more that if I don't get the majority of my planned exercise in early, my attitude deteriorates. I can get it done, but it's a push!

I did get a few bits of housework done Saturday that I'd been putting off. Thus, I was productive.

It was about 78F on Saturday--we're supposed to have a small accumulation of snow tonight--the first since last fall.

starlight on 03/03/2008:
I am the same way with everything in life. I have to just get it done and over with, otherwise it usually doesnt get done at all. Actually, I remember when I was about 7 years old, I wanted to play with my barbie set that came with a pool. Well, I thought to myself, "I'll play with it in a little while." Then I thought "no, I better play with it now, bc I know I wont want to play with it later." I tell this story only because I think its funny that I knew that about myself as early as the age of 7. I procrastinate with everything so much that a lot of things just don't get done. I think that's a big part of why it is so hard for me to exercise every day. I tell myself, I'll do it later, but then by the time I remember, I just say screw it. Exercise isn't something I can procrastinate with bc its something that HAS to get done daily. uhg... its hard I really admire your ability to keep at it the way you do.

kyrin on 03/04/2008:
Yup! I know all about the "do it early or forget it mentality." My schedule has been rearranged so that I have no excuses. Just do it!

I know you can do it, Biscotti! I know you can!

thinnsidenotout on 03/05/2008:
Re: "Walking Fret".... I have thought that my thinking process of "not getting the walk in" was probably the fear of a set-back after the progress I have made... I know that I wo'nt gain all the 16# back, by just missing "a walk", but I am the type that if I have a routine down and miss one, just makes it easier the next day to miss too.... I will balance out and be alright, just over-process scenarios sometimes and have to slap some sense into myself (figuratively speaking of course).

Have a great Evening! AND Thank You!

Good habits are as addictive as bad habits, and a lot more rewarding. --Harvey MacKay

For my activity:
Wed: Walk 10 min
Thurs: Nothing

I'm not a genius but I can see where my current behavior is taking me.

So here are my goals: Water 80 oz, count calories, etc and maintain at least a 1000 cal/day deficit. No particulars for activity except to get back to the scheduled Circuit Workouts starting tomorrow. Go for a week--too difficult timewise, whatever--reassess! ***Commit to these goals starting tomorrow.***

I can take being right where I am, but not moving forward means that Mother Nature is going to take advantage of my standing still and push me over the cliff--haha! (It's not really that funny.)

I looked back at 2005 and I missed posting for more than a month. So I looked at my little notebook to see if I was writing down my food or anything--I was. I didn't want to repeat that pattern this time. Also I'm going back to weigh-ins on Tuesdays for now.

My "Circuit Streak" has ended at 19 days, which is excellent. I've been taking a complete break from planned exercise--which is good for me to do from time to time.

Thanks for the comment. The IC stands for interstitial cystitis. Its where the lining that protects your bladder from the toxins in the urine has been damaged somehow, so the toxins penetrate the bladder wall causing inflammation and hemorrhaging. Thus its painful and causes you to feel like you have to pee to get the urine out that is "burning" your bladder. Its not incontinance BUT the only medication that has worked for me has actually been vesicare, used for incontinence bc it has an antispasmotic in it. Vesicare is very expensive though and there is no generic for it.

desichick on 03/01/2008:
Hey thanks for you recommendation on the scale, and I really like the quote in this post.

borntocry on 03/02/2008:
Hi biscotti! So, how do you calculate your deficit? What do you estimate your daily calorie intake would be to maintain your weight? I tried going the calorie deficit route once but decided against it because I was worried it would encourage me to think of food as a reward and exercise as punishment. But I might try it again - I quite like the mathematical nature of it.

Thanks for your comments on my diary! No, I didn't have any trouble running with someone else's entry. It isn't allowed, but they can't very well ask 23,000 people to show their ID on race day. They check your ID when you pick up your bib, but the girl who sold me hers went and picked it up for me herself. Though some sellers said that they couldn't do that and that they would send photocopies of their ID cards to the buyers - don't see how that would work, but my husband's co-worker is a runner and she says you can just say you're picking it up for a friend.

I did see some people get turned away right at the finish line 'cause they didn't have bibs at all. That must really suck! Those people are known as "bandits".

Oh, I forgot to ask you, was that a David Bowie quote in your comment the other day? "Turn and face the strange... ch-ch-changes!"

mmuraro on 03/02/2008:
I love your quotes and love Bowie! Have a great day.

The minute anyone's getting anxious I say, You must eat and you must sleep. They're the two vital elements for a healthy life. --Francesca Annis

For my activity:
Mon & Tues: Nothing

For the weekly recap of goals met or not: Calories were <1800 on one day only (Avg: 2149), all planned Circ Wkts done. Fat was <75 grams on four days. I hit the 80 oz water goal on two days and the cardio (1 hr/day) goal on one day. Jogged on zero days.

Cals/Fat Grams: Mon::2131/71

This was also a crappy week because I got in only about a third of the amount of activity as last week.

I shall be changing my goals--I guess I'm a little bored and tired of these. Except for the Circ Aer Wkt--it's hot hot hot! I guess I need to spread the excitement of it to all of my other activity!

RE: Friend walking with me... Yes, your right...I do feel like I have to keep the waters somewhat smooth...We go to church together, our sons are best friends, neighbors, etc...... I have decided this morning that my happiness is more important than having a companion to walk with and I will tell her that I started this FOR ME and that she is the one that hitched the ride WITH ME, not ME WITH HER (I won't say it quite like that, but something to that effect)... I had a good talk with my husband about it last night and he told me "you know you weren't looking for someone to go with in the first place and you DID NOT want a competition by any means".... I started it FOR ME and I WILL finifsh it FOR ME.... THANKS for you words and I have never been one for having anybody going shopping with me or anything else really for tha matter.... I like My TIME to be MY TIME and not worry about whether I am holding anybody up... Staying at home almost every day, I need time alone outside my house..... This just happened, cause my path (safest for walking around here) for walking is past this friend's house and I am spotted ocassionally.... She does feel better health wise and that is a good thing, cause she hasn't suffered any migraines or back pain for the last 3 weeks.... The greatest mistake is trying to be more agreeable than you can be. --Walter Bagehot

For my activity: NordicTrack 63 min/6.5 mi

I'm down a little more than 2 inches on my measurements, but up on my weigh-in. I wasn't expecting much either way, but the measurements were a pleasant surprise. (I'm down on RLeg, RCalf, Hips, Bust, Waist and Abdomen--the same on RArm and RWrist.)

My next pair of shorts waiting in the wings are size 8s--I was able to button and zip them this time--the current ones are just about ready to wear--just a little tight for my taste. Struggling gets really old, but I wouldn't trade it for anything! If I weren't struggling I guess I'd be dead--haha!

Oh, hey, I didn't tell about my jog (or non-jog) the other night. I went for about 30 seconds and stopped. Thus, no jog! How exciting--haha! I just wasn't into it--and it was quite warm, so it wasn't the weather. So I walked and watched the eclipse and walked and watched the eclipse some more.

So you got to see the eclipse - that's cool! My husband came in at one point yelling for my son and I to wake up and go look...by the time I mustered enough energy to go open the door, it was very...uneventful. But last night driving home from the hockey game on the expressway, I was being hypnotized by how HUGE the moon looked...it was really cool!

Measurements going down - that's great! Keep up the great work! Have a good day!
