Hiya everyone

Just a very quick note to keep you all up to date on my progress. Another 2 pounds off at w.watchers last thursday. That was without much exercise to be honest. I had a high fever and splitting headache fr a few days, so I think that contributed to the weight loss more than anything.

I haven't yet been to the gym this week, but plan on going tonight. I am finding it harder to get motivated as I am busy at work, with my mum etc. I need to kick my own backside I think.

Got college all day tomorrow so tonight is my only chance to get up and do some good old fashioned exercise. I have been reading some diary entries and it really does inspire me to keep going. Will try to reply to your entries later..promise..

Progress as of today: 17 lbs lost so far, only 67 lbs to go!

Kick it into gear..... You ever seen "Country Bears?" There is a song on there that says that...Cute!.....Anyway...Sounds you are busy, just try to fit in some kind of exercise daily and you will be on your way to being repetitous and miss it if you don't do it.... It becomes almost as addictive as the food was sometimes...At least I know it has for me.....

Ha Ha...we all need a kick in the butt sometime on this journey. Hang in there. I know I find it harder to get to the gym as summer gets closer. So much to do here at the home front. Yard, cleaning the house, getting the storages...etc. We just have to make the time. Well do keep us posted. Have a great day.

Hiya eveyone,

Sorry not to have been on here for over a month. Computer broadband broke down (nearly 3 weeks to get it sorted) and then was so so busy catching up with everything. Hope you are all doing great and still as positive as always.

I AM WELL PLEASED WITH MYSELF SO FAR..!!!! 15Ib off. It's fab to be honest.. It's almost two sizes smaller. My clothes, especially trousers are really baggy, still refusing to buy new stuff till I get down to the 2nd size. Just realised I have only got 10 pounds till I'm under the two hundred marker..seems easier than saying 25 pounds to go. Mmmmm...feels goooood !!!!!

Gosh, what have I been up too? Working like crazy, got the opportunity to do a deep clean in a bathroom/kitchen showroom thaty had just been refurbished. Them builders are messy lots !!!!

Working really hard really and looking after my mum. The docs all now think she has vascular dimentia or the beginning of it, I am taking her for a brain scan on 20th march to confirm/deny it, or to see what stage it is at.

It's great to be back on line again. I wasted one week phoning to complain about the broadband not working, another buying all the new bits of connecting cables, then another freaking out and giving up on the thing altogether. They eventually sent out a new modem.. got it yesterday and hey presto it's now working !!!

What have I been doing to keep fit and healthy? Going to the gym, then swimming about 14 lengths about 2-3 times a week. Drew got a freebie treadmill, one that works as you walk on it. It's not electric..it really works hell out of your legs. I go on it for 15-20 mins a day, then collapse in a heap on the bed.. I think it's harder than the gym because I'm pushing the machine...I actually said to myself D.D or treadmill? HERE I AM !!! I wouldn't have the energy to type if I'd done that first.

It's a lovely sunny day here in Glasgow.. Yesterday we had snow blizards, motorways at a standstill, could barely get out my street till afternoon, then -4 degrees last night. Still -2 degrees but sunny, so can't complain.

How are you all keeping? I can't wait to read all your diaries

I was going to leave you a note since you hadn't posted in awhile, but here you are--Great Job caz! Being down one size would thrill me--two sizes must have you in ecstacy--haha! Really--you must be doing so many things right--and the swimming--woo-hoo!

Good afternoon to you all. Just been catching up on all your entries.

Yesterday was a no go with exercising, except for a twenty minute walk. Still, the food intake wasn't too bad. Get weighed tonight at weightwatchers, so here's hoping it's good news tonight. If we lose 3 pounds each then we will celebrate with a chinese.

It feels like this has been such a long week since our last weigh in, or maybe it's because I am so looking forward to the chinese meal. It feels a long way off. In reality approx 7 hrs to go. No guesses what's on my mind today !!!

May go to the gym..We have really bad weather warnings today with wind and snow storms not far away, so I shall decide afte I visit my mums.

Have a super day everyone..fingers crossed (and toes) for tonight.

PS: You folks are just the biz!!!

Ohhhhhhh....Chinese! yummy.....have a good visit with your mom! I was just calculating in my head. I think I am right (?). It is 6:30 A.M. to me here, so I may be off a little, being so early.But, you have lost almost 10% of what your goal to lose is...thats great!

Thanks for your comments on my diary. I like your idea of concentrating on the healthy eating and then taking it to the next level by writing down everything in the future. One step at a time I always say. Chinese sounds good. I've found that I am just as happy these days splitting a dish with a friend and not being so tempted to eat a whole portion. My friend has another idea when confronted with big portions of Chinese food in restaurants - She immediately upon placing her order asks for a TO GO box and when her order comes she immediately puts 1/2 of it in the TO GO box and has two meals out of it. Either idea helps eliminate temptation and saves $$$, too. I mention this because chinese is one of my favorites and a challenging situation for me. Portion of Chinese here are just hugh. Fingers crossed on your weigh in. Hopwever it turns out - keep consistent.

Hiya everyone. Firstly a huge thanks for all your really kind comments about my mum..It was so so nice. Her mood is a little better, but such a struggle to get her to eat. She has a wee dog and two cats. I'm looking after them too with her. We are trying to get some day care facility sorted for her but over here its a slow process. As for friends, most have past away and she is refusing to contact people as all they talk about is their illnesses. It's almost like a competition to see whoo is worst off. My mum has been depressed for some time now and it's an uphill daily battle.

Just need to be positive with her and patient.

On a lighter note...and I mean LIGHTER note, I tried on a pair of jeans that were too small and they fitted...I was so so pleased with myself..I have officially dropped a clothing size..Makes me feel confident about going to weight watchers tomorrow evening.

Went to the gym yesterday, got a good hours worth of exercise done, plus went for a walk last night for half an hour.

I really noticed how much food i had eaten and how it makes me feel ie full up or not, when eating certain things.. Not thinking about late night snacks over the last few evenings, so pleased those notions are wearing off..

Today I'm in a tutorial group at college till 4pm, then hope to get to the gym, if not, i'LL probably go for an hours walk.

My husband's grandmother lived to be almost 95, and played bridge with "youngsters" of 60 or so. She said they were more positive than most of the people her own age, so she really enjoyed being with them. Is there a "seniors" group, (of younger seniors) who your mom might enjoy socializing with?

Congrats on dropping a size!! I'm still working toward that first goal.

Hello to everyone from wet and windy Glasgow, oh and very cold.. I have had a lazy day regarding exercise so far, but plan to go to the gym later for a work out. I've been catching up on lots of diary entries. Can't believe how long its taking, but it is so so inspiring for me. It really helps keep up the momentum.

My mum looks a bit better today. SHE IS ONLY 71 YEARS YOUNG. My heart really goes out to her. She has been through such a lot over the last year. My dad passed away last April and so has quite a few of her really closest oldest friends. My brother sold the family home just after my dad died and it was just too much too soon for her. She has gotten painfully thin since then, struggling to even eat on a day to day basis, let alone look forward in life. I'm strugglng to be thinner.. Quite a paradox with us really.

Even with my counselling training and the psychotherapy training I am doing just now, I can really empathise with her predicament, but can't use it too much as it would probably cause chaos. Never a good idea to counsel friends or family. It's heart breaking to watch someone starve themselves like that because they see it as a last ditch attempt to have some control in their lives. I just have to keep trying to be supportive and encouraging to try to boost her morale again.

Sorry if that was too deep..Sometimes it's better to get it out than suppress it.

Can you get your mom into a support for folks who have lost spouses or something of that nature? It is very natural that she would feel depressed after losing her husband, moving out of her home, home being sold, losing lifelong friends and everything else that has gone on/is going on in her life, but starving to attempt having some control in life is the definition of an eating disorder and can strike at any age. Does she have any friends her age who have gone through similar that are doing better with it that she could get together with on a regular basis? She is lucky to have you and I see what you mean by the paradox. Here's hoping something gives soon. Keep us posted. Hope you got to exercise.

Good luck to your mom. Hopefully time will also make her feel better and stronger. I know that would be a big commitment, but pets seem to help a lot of people with depression, especially if they feel lonely and lost in life! So maybe it's time for a puppy? :) I'll say a prayer for you guys too!

Hiya everyone, sorry not to have been on here for over a week. Just been too busy with work and looking after the family and my mum. She doesn't keep very well and is really ill at the moment. It's hard work but she is worth every minute of my attention.

As you may see I lost 2.5 pounds last week (thurs) so I was really pleased.. I was dreading the weigh in, as I always am to be honest.. So it was a nice boost to see myself yet again that little bit lighter.

I've been to the gym a few times and started walking twice a week for a half hour or so since last thursday. I even went swimming for an hour on sunday after the gym. God... I was shattered but enjoyed it. Haven't done that for years and years.

Drew has done really well too. He lost 3.5 pounds.

Still doing ok with the food and detox, so all in all I'm quite positive still.

Haven't read any diaries yet for a while, so that's my next plan. Have a great day to everyone..catch up soon xx

God to hear from you. You ARE doing well. How old is your Mom? Mine is 73 and I think about watching her take care of her Mom (my grandmother) and hope I can do at least as well when/if time comes.

Hi everyone. Have been back to weightwatchers and am so pleased that I have lost another 1.5 pounds in weight. That's 5 pounds since last monday. I am really really pleased with this. I just wanna scream for joy just now. I felt apprehensive because I've got the flu and not been to gym since Sunday. But hey I earned my chinese meal. We got a lovely chicken curry and special fried rice to celebrate. Back on the healthy regime in the morning though. It was worth it though and tasted amazing. Couldn't believe how quickly my body got used to eating less portions, so found it impossible to eat it all.

I must admit I am still enjoying the diet and look forward to going to the gym tomorrow. I should be feeling better by then. It's more like a head cold now. I hope you are all doing ok. I'm just going to catch up on all your entries. Have a really great day !!!

Congratulations on the terrific weightloss showing! That is wonderful. I am celebrating with you. The cherries at this time of year are almost unheard of... or, they are about 7 or 8 dollars a pound. So this 2.99 sale is just so special. The cherries come from Chili. Here's wishing that you do feel better tomorrow. Come back and tell us all about it.

Head colds are always so hard to get over, and they're frustrating when you can't do the things you think you should be able to do. Hope you feel better soon and can revisit the gym tomorrow!!

Congrats on your loss! It seems weight watchers is a popular program for all the DDers. i don't use it, but i do count calories. Basically, weight watchers is calorie counting with weight watchers points! congrats on 5 lbs in one week.

It's Sunday morning and day six of my diet. Just drank my detox drink. Will have a coffee and wholemeal toast for breakfast. Going to the gym today for a work out and to get some more milk shake drinks. Dinner is home made carrot and lentil soup and steak with salad.

On reflection, this first week has been really good for me. It has helped immensely writing in this diary. A couple of times I have been tempted to eat unhealthy things, when buying petrol at the garage or when I went for a coffee with my friend after work. I resisted and felt great afterwards.

Reading almost everyones diaries and responses has been a huge help also. So a big massive thanks to everyone for all the encouragement..!!!!

I went to weight watchers on thursday evening.That was day 4 of my diet, unofficially I LOST 3.5 LBS. It's not the same scales I was initially weighed on so I'll wait until I next get weighed at the gym before I jump up and down with excitement (secretly I was really pleased with it). Drew got weighed too but was surprised that he had put all the weight back on and a bit more, so I think he will get determined to control what he eats during the day. He was pleased on Friday evening that he just ate his fruit and weetabix at work and wasn't tempted by all the food that gets brought in by loads of other workers.

Well, must go and get motivated to have breakfast, then get to the gym..Have a great day everybody and be good to yourselves..xx

Dinner sounds really tasty. I'm not one for 'detox' drinks because the body will detox itself once we feed it properly and it usually only takes a day. The liver and kidneys are very wonderful organs! But I understand why people do the detox drinks. If it isn't dangerous and it makes you feel better, even if it is only mentally, go for it!

Congrats on the weight drop and don't worry...men will do what they want in due time. They can sure be aggravating sometimes lol.

great weight loss! those first few pounds are soooo satisfying and motivating. I am always pleased to see my body still responds to healthy choices and the weight begins to come down. I am a yo yo person so i always worry about response. I think you can feel great about avoiding temptation. good job.

Just got back from the gym. Didn't go swimming but had a really fab workout on the treadmill, (20 mins level 6 random), cross trainer, (20 mins level 6 random) and 10 hard mins on the bike ~(level 7 random). I am well pleased at how energised I feel. Don't even feel hunger pangs, or feel tempted to eat anything !!

It took me a while today to get motivated, mostly due to really bad weather, but the wind has calmed down and so has the rain. Just need to hold on to the feelings right now to help stay motivated..

It's good to get a buzz again from exercise.

Took me all day to get motivated, too. Daughter and I had lunch, rented a movie and watched it, then looked at each other and said "we need to go walking". Felt much better after doing it, but it wouldn't have happened today, if she hadn't wanted to do it, too.

Had a lazy afternoon today. Getting ready to go to gym for a couple of hours and maybe even attempt a swim..??? not been swimming for years

Eating has been good so far. Just had a coffee and a weight watchers almond slice.

Couldn't be bothered going outdoors for a walk as it is so so cold, mega heavy rain and hailstone showers and winds of 90 miles per hour most of the day and last night.. God bless our weather here !!!

I'm starting to wonder if I've lost any weight yet even if it's only day four. I feel like if I weigh in and it' still the same I'd be really deflated, but chuffed to bits if I had lost a few pounds..the dilemma of it !!

I used to hate getting weighed every week..found it really stressfull... trying to be more open minded this time round..but those anxieties are wandering about in there...guess I just need to accept they are there and be ok with them...easier said than done..

I too am having a time of it with the weather. Gosh, now that I have made this commitment, I just want to get going with my serious walks, which is my most successful type of regular exercise..... but snow and ice and then more snow and ice and then..... Check back with me in July when I'm complaining about the heat! :)
