So I didn't end up counting calories yesterday, but I didn't go crazy either... Hubby and I went to our favorite burrito and marguaritas spot for dinner..  I successfully avoided the marguaritas and stuck to diet soda.  I got a burrito but mostly ended up eating the filling out of it (bbq tofu, black beans, rice, BBQ sauce, tomatoes, and lettuce).  Then late night at home I was FREEZING so I ended up having some 200 calorie noodle soup... Not great, but not horrible....   Today I'm refocused on counting calories!!  I'm going shopping and out to dinner with my mom tonight, no idea where we are going so I'm hoping to save LOTS of calories...  Not sure what time we will get done shopping, but my gym closes at 9PM tonight so it doesn't look good for getting there this evening... Tomorrow we are going to a college football game at noon and then to see the new James Bond (I'm a lifelong fan!!) movie late afternoon or early evening... I'm hoping to squeeze in a workout...

We found a new washing machine last night.  Home Depot is having "black friday" deals early, so they had a $599 GE washing machine on sale for $349, plus I had a 10% Lowes coupon that they accepted, so all in all it wasn't too expensive... They are coming to install the washer next thursday so it gives me the excuse I have been looking for to take the day off from work!!!!!  I'm actually looking forward to spending the say in my PJs and cleaning and relaxing!

So... apparantly I had latent break down about all my stupid financial bad news because I ended up giong out with hubby and a friend for drinks last night... Whoops...  I had 2 hefenweisen beers... Delicous... We also got a cheese platter to share between the three of us... Then we ALMOST ordered a pizza, but we didn't... I ended up making quesadillas as planned but instead of veggie heavy, they were just cheese quesadillas with a lot of cheese and we HAD to try a bottle of our homemade wine... Oops...  I'm feeling a little tired this morning, but I cannot let this spiral into a series of bad choices...  

B:  xtra large coffee w/ milk and splenda (50) 2 egg and cheese wake up wraps (300) 350 
L:  LARGE tossed salad... Didn't count the calories, but it had the following:  Lettuce, tomato, cucumber (25) craisins (50) homemade croutons (150) grilled artichokes (150) ranch dressing (200) 575

Yesterday ended well on a food and exercise basis.  My net calories were around 1200-right where I want to be:)  I got an extremely intense tabata interval class in.  I had 2 major stressors yesterday... I found out my hot tub will cost $700 to fix AND my washing machine that is only 2.5 years old is completely a piece of crap and worthless and we need to buy a new one... So... yesterday brought about $1000 of unexpected expenses... right before the holidays... super... BUT... normally I would have used those thingas as an excuse to have some comfort food or a couple glasses of wine, and I did neither... I just sat with my frustration and didn't try to numb it... This is definitley a big deal for me... I was craving sweets last night and had 140grams (70 calories worth) of dole frozen fruit... I loved this because it took a while to eat and cured my sweet tooth while fitting right into my daily plan and not starting a sugar binge that a small portion of chocolate or sweets can do to me....

I peeked at the scale today... I HAVE to stop doing this on non weigh in days as I just get frustrated... Thats it... NO peaking until weigh in day of MONDAY!!!

Today I think I will do some light cardio at the gym followed by a legs lifting workout...   I'm running SEVERELY low on food at home, but I'm trying to hold off on grocery shopping... The longer I make myself wait, the less $ I will spend and the more creative I am forced to get about meals:)

I stayed up a little late to watch the election last night... I just love watching the political process at work:)

Sorry to hear about your washer and your hot tub. But good for you for keeping eating under control during a stressful time, I'm the same way and can easily use it as an excuse to indulge! In fact I had a stressful event happen this morning (I'll write about it tomorrow) and am using you as my role model not to let it get the best of me! Have a good one!

RYC, yes ate all my snacks - ice cream, Doritos, pretzels, beer, chocolate wafers, mocha. All gone now. Finished off what little was left with my lunch today. Calorie count tomorrow.

Yea, I couldn't make it up late enough to watch the speech... I did record through like 4am though so I'm sure I caught it. I'm also about to see if I can find it online somewhere.

I'm not sure which test it was, I'd have to assume it was the sensitive one since it was my cardiologist that ordered it, and it was to see what my likelihood of a cardiac event in the future was.

Thanks! I've got to get back on track. Great job on the frozen fruit instead of a sugar bing under stressful situations. Is the washing machine not under warranty anymore?

Yeah, stay away from the scale when it's not weigh in day!! Sounds like you are keeping the calories at a good amount so you will see the results!!! And kudos for your workout!!!

Doesn't it just kill you when things expensive things break around the holidays??? That is the story of my life, at least!!! I need 4 new tires. Gheesh.

**update # 2**  So... my washing machine is completely destroyed... Its only 2.5 years old... So... now we have to buy a brnd new washing machine...   Seriously???  Aggghhhhh!!!!!

**Update**  just a rant here... So our hot tub has not been working for the last 3 months.  We already spent $305 to fix what they "thought" was wrong and it didn't fix the problem... Now I found out that it is oging to cost $690 more to fix:(   This makes me so sad... I know its a luxury, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that hot tub....   This had better work and I think I will be scrimping for the next WHILE to pay for this:(

Good morning everyone and happy election day to all my American friends.  Hopefully everyone will be able to get out there and exercise their right to vote!

Yesterday was a STARVING day... I ended at about 1650 NET calories... Not great, but certainly acceptable.  I had 2 trader joe's veggie egg rolls for 300 calories after soccer, not the best choice, but I was legitamitely STARVING!  Ugghhh my soccer team this session is horrible... Not only are we not good, which I would be fine with, everyone has a terrible attitude and they yell at each other and generally make it no fun to play.  Its really disappointing..... We will NOT be staying on this team after this 8 week session.

Today I'm hoping to make it to a 45 minute TABATA HIIT class... IF I can get out of work on time...  I'm hoping today is a less hungry day.  Honestly, my body is used to coffee in the AM now and I think that helps keep my appetite at bay for the morning and I didn't have it yesterday, I had it today so we shall see...

You did really great for a hungry day yesterday. Sorry your soccer team has a bad attitude this session, that stinks. My hubby just got traded to a different volleyball team and he's hoping they will be cheerful haha. Have a good one!

Ok, maybe there is somthing to be said for weighing in once a week, knowing today was a weigh in day kept me accountable over the weekend and a 3.8# weight loss was very welcomed today!

I had a relaxing weekend.  Went to a hockey game Friday night, got together to make dinner with a couple friends Saturday and had a productive/relaxing Sunday... Until last night when my washing machine flooded my basement... Aggghhhh!!!  I hope we can figure out what is wrong and fix it cheaply... I swear, its always somthing!  I made it to the gym both weekend days, so I'm very happy about that.  Today is soccer!


B  banana (60) hummus and pretzels (250) 310
L:  Leftover Peanut pasta w/ broccoli 500

TOM is here in full force today along with the cramps and bloating... I guess its a good thing my official weigh in isn't until Monday!!!   Last night after the hockey game I was STARVING... I had a small cheese and crackers snack that I measured out and left about the same 1.5oz of cheese left for another day... Then... I ate that too... AND I had a serving of special K popcorn chips... All in all I probably ended around 2000 calories, not horrible, but without a workout that is definitely too high...

The LAST think I feel like doing today is a workout, but... I know it will make me feel better and I have a dinner night planned with my 2 friends and my god daughter so, I need the calorie burn!!!

Neither of them are big cooks and they always say I'm picky between eating pescetarian and trying to eat healthy so they always want me to decide what we are having... Between my PMS this week I was like... Screw it I have no idea, I'm sick of deciding... LOL...    But then I felt bad because they are just trying to be accomodating...   So... my brilliant idea was Fondue... Not super healthy by nature, but ways to adjust... .So... we are going to my friend's house.  She is buying Swiss Knight packaged fondue, which is actrually REALLY good for a packaged fondue, its just like the classic cheese fondue you can make-I've had both and you can hardly tell the difference.  Plus its a reasonable portion (less likely to over eat)   so my plan is as follows:

B:  egg sandwich 2 slices whole wheat bread (200) egg (70) cheese (70) coffee w/ 1T baileys creamer (40) 380

D:  Fondue!!!  1/3 cheese fondue package (300) lots of veggies (broccoli, asparagus, pea pods, etc) (25)   apple slices (50) bread cubes-I will have to limit this to maybe 6 cubes (125) shrimp (150) 650

S:  we are going to have pita chips and hummus 200

S:  nonfat cafe latte 130

S:  ugghh had another snack:  cottage cheese (200) pretzels (200)

Workout:  10 minutes eliptical (60) 30 minutes lifting (50) 110

Goal: NET 1000-1500

I'm intentionally planning my calories low knowing that I may have an additional snack before I head over there and knowing that I may have a little more than I have posted...   Luckily, neither of these friends are really drinkers so there won't be wine like there would be if I was hanging out with other friends so it will be very easy not to have alcohol this weekend (HUGE win for me!!)

Exercise:  Not sure yet but I'm definitely going to the gym!!

 Thank goodness, my super hungry day on Wednesday was followed by an easy day to stay in control yesterday... I think I ended around 1115 NET calories... PERFECT!  Even though I'm not supposed to I peeked at the scale again today and its down at least 2 pounds from my recorded weight.  I'm really hoping for 205 by Monday.  That will get me almost 1/2 way to my mini goal for 11/17. 

Yesterday I decided to go to the gym for a 4th day in a row rather than take a rest day, knowing I will not get a workout in today.  I had gathered my gym clothes early yesterday morning while 1/2 asleep.  I got to the gym, started to change and pulled out what I thought were my gym shorts....  It was a gym shirt of my husbands....I stood paralyzed for a minute... What did I do... I considered taking it as a sign that I should go home (EXCUSE!!)  I considered hitting up the lost and found bin for a pair of shorts (SKEEVY) so finally... I said, screw it... The black work pants I have on are kind of loose, I'll just look like an idiot and do my cardio interval class in my work pants...  I looked a bit like an idiot, but luckily my workout tee shirt was kind of bagy so it covered the belt loops and such, so it just looked like I had REALLY wierd workout pants...   They were a little unforgiving for the squats, lunges, and pushups, but...I didn't let my mess up derail my motivation so I'm happy!

Today is a MUCH needed day off from exercise... my entire body is sore...  We are going out to dinner tonight, so I need to figure out a good place/healthy meal.  Tomorrow night I'm getting together with my 2 close friends and we are going to cook dinner so I need to think of somthing that everyone will like, but is quite healthy.....

I'm so very proud of you for not going home at the gym...that's definitely something that probably would have derailed me!! And like you said, who cares what you like look when you're working out... you're there! That's all that matters.

I went online and found a formula online. It was my weight times 4.35 + my height times 4.7 + 655 - my age times 4.7 = 1401.7

Yea I had found a bunch of formulas...even if this one is a little low because it's what I would do if I never left my bad, it was kinda along the lines of what I had planned to do anyway, as far as net calories... I had wanted to hit between 500-700... but I wasn't sure how close I was to my actual needs.

As for tonight...while it actually sounds like a lot of fun, tonight is my first night in truly weeks that I have the house to myself, and get to have some alone time. So I'm very excited to pick up some Blue Spice after the gym and then head home and watch Magic Mike hahahaha. Yes I'm a loser!

I peaked at my weight today even though I'm supposed to be waiting until Monday and alas its not really moving.   This is one of the MANY reasons I wasn't supposed to look until Monday!!!!!  Just about my ENTIRE body is sore right now from Soccer Monday, Tababa Tuesday, and a Tabata running interval and lifting biceps and triceps yesterday, so I'm hoping that my muscle fibers are swollen today causing the delay in weight loss.  I need to drink lots and lots of water today to flush out the system.  I'm tyring to decide if it will be counterproductive to go to the gym for a 4th workout day in a row today and lift chest and shoulders (the only parts NOT sore) and do some light cardio...  Tomorrow will definitley be a rest day and Hubby, stepdaughter, adn I are going to a division 1 hometown rivalry hockey game  RPI versus Union-two division 1 schools that are both within 30 minutes of my house... so tomorrow is a rest day.  Saturday is definitely back in the gym... Not sure what to do about today.

Yesterday was an EXTREMELY hungry day... All day long... I managed to keep a deficit in NET calories, but just barely... I think I ended around 1975 NET calories, with my neutral number being 2000.  Oh well, I tracked and stayed in control, so I will not be upset.  I'm hoping for a MUCH lower number today.

Hello Ladies:)   Yesterday was a good day.  I was faced with a challenge and I came out with flying colors!  This is quite a huge accomplishment for me!!  Yesterday was hubby and my 2nd day of our 19 day challenge no drinking-perfect eating AND.... an old friend of ours (more hubby's friend than mine) was in town from GERMANY visiting... last minute...  Hubby met up with and went out for dinner and drinks... Perfect, I thought to myself, as much as I would have liked to see her, it removed the temptation for me to drink and eat... But then he called me and said they were coming back to our house after dinner for more drinks and they were inviting my brother in law over as well for an impromptu gathering...They brought wine and had snacks and a little dance party... This girl is actually semi famous and is a model/songwriter/ in an electronica band in Germany now, so a 3 person dance party is no big thing...  Anyway... point is, I didn't have any alcohol or any unplanned food... Just enjoyed the company for a bit and then went to bed!  I'm quite proud of myself...

I went to a 45 minute tabata HIIT training class yesterday... it was pretty good, but some of the intervals were a bit painful on my lower back which has been bothering me for a few months, so I couldn't quite get the full benefit...   Today's planis more staying on track...I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to the gym or not, it really depends how sore my body is later today...

I know not eating isn't necessarily the best option...but like I said it's not about the food or the calories, it's about controlling something...and right now I consider food to be my enemy...so if I can control my "love/hate affair" with food for one day, I think that'll be really good for me. I'm supposed to fast for 12 hours anyway for my blood work...so what's another 12 hours right? haha. jk.

Yes, it's so much harder with them around... when I lived by myself I always controlled what I ate, I never had to worry if it was too bland, too boring, too whatever for someone else...because for me I wasn't eating food to enjoy it, I was eating it for the calories. I'm not sure what the solution is our problem... we can't cook seperate meals, well we can but that doesn't really make sense... I really am thinking exercise is going to have to be the answer for us. We might not be the greatest at controlling what we eat...but if we can get to the gym, and keep going, and really keep burning, the none perfect diet won't be so bad. That's why I really like your idea of net calories.

Congrats on not cheating with her there... I'm very proud of you. Does that mean Dave lost the challenge? :)

Well that's good that he planned ahead for it and was able to stay rather healthy minus the calories with her there. But yes...now to get back on track. It's so hard once you've fallen off the wagon.

Still holding strong ...no food... only like 21 hours to go hahahaha.
