 Day 5 of 14... I am getting there, ever so slowly... This modified juice cleanse is definitely telling me I'm addicted to food... I had a bit of a breakdown last night and was just miserable, I think I went too long without a juice or a protein shake...  After I drank a smoothie made w/ juice and an avocado I was in much better spirits... Today I am feeling much better physically and mentally...  Weight is down 6.8# overall since starting...  

B:  8oz green juice w/ kale, celery, oranges, lime, and apples
S:  16oz of the same juice sipped throughout the morning and early afternoon
L:  1/2 acorn squash stuffed w/ portobello mushrooms, onions, and sage
S:  1 scoop protein powder mixed w/ water
D:  juice-will probably have 2-16oz portions plus another protein shake
S:  veggie broth

Progress as of today: -1.8 lbs lost so far, only 13.4 lbs to go!

Day 4... Oh My... This is definitely a mental challenge... I'm doing ok, but day 14 has never seemed further away....   Today's weight actually went up .6#-I knew it had to happen as I was losing weight at a super rapid rate, but I still don't like it!  haha....  ok, enough complaining... Today is more of the same....  Hubby is at work and I have the day off so I am going to have to find a way to occupy myself all day, we shall see...   I am really excited about my one meal today... Its 1/2 of a roasted acorn squassh stuffed with sauteed onions, portobello mushrooms, and sage.

B:  green tea and Juice!  Not sure what I'm putting in any juices today so I will update...

S:  1 scoop protein powder mixed with water

L:  1/2 roasted acorn squash with portobellos and sage

S:  juice-made w/ red cabbage, oranges, beets, bok choy, lime and apples

D:  Smoothie!  I had to do it... made with green juice my husband made and then I added an avocado, frozen blueberries, and frozen tropical fruit to the blender withthe juice and made a smoothie... It literally tasted like the best thing I've ever had...

S:  protein shake and veggie broth

 

Thoughts-Today was hard, I'm feeling kind of miserable and want to say... ok I'm "reset" I can go back to eating and it will be healthy... But the fact of the matter is that I didn't get this fat because I'm great at making healthy choices... That said I'm REALLY going to try to stick this out until at LEAST 10 days, still aiming for 14 days, but if things don't get any better, 10 may be the end with some very clean eating and still juicing for days 11-14... We shall see...

Progress as of today: -3.6 lbs lost so far, only 15.2 lbs to go!

Today is day 3...I'm actually almost done with day 3... Woo Hoo!  This is definitely an interesting experience...  Its definitely changing my cravings... They say its a "reboot" in that not only do you have weight loss, but its a great way to reboot your eating habits and segway into a super healthy lifestyle... So I'm planning on trying to get back to mostly natural, unprocessed, 80% vegan food with the occasional dairy, egg, or fish once or twice per week...  I'm really hoping to lose about 15 pounds and get below 200# before starting my next IVF frozen cycle...  We shall see!!!  

today's eats and drinks...

B: juice with oranges, bok choy, rainbow chard, lime, apples cucumbers, celery and pears

S:  1 scoop protein powder mixed in water

L:  salad with 2 roasted beets, 1 tomato, baby spinach, red cabbage and homemade dressing made of tahini, apple cider vinegar, tiny bit agave nectar and water

S:  juice made with cucumber, cantelope, romaine lettuce, strawberries, apples, and pears

D:  1 scoop protein powder mixed with water and another juice-juice TBD

S:  1 cup veggie broth 

 

Progress as of today: -2.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.2 lbs to go!

 Today is day 2 of my juice fast and the scale was down exactly 4 pounds from yesterday... wow... thats kind of crazy...   Yesterday evening after my juice and protein powder, I was feeling a bit (VERY) cravy so I had some vegetable broth-this was a godsend, somthing hot and savory was just the ticket...   Today I'm feeling pretty good...  Definitely more aware of my feelings and more in touch with my hunger, but pretty good overall...

The weather here is AWFUL... Its -3 out with -25 windchills and we got about a foot of snow last night...  I'm very curious to see the results of this juice fast (with a few vegetables thrown in)...   1 day down, 13 to go!

B:  Green tea and 16oz juice-bok choy, swiss chard, pear, orange, lime, red cabbage, carrots, grapes

L:  same salad as yesterday:  kale, red cabbage, tomato, 1/2 avocado, homemade honey and balsalmic vinagrette

S:  Green Lemonade juice:  Kale, celery, cucumber, lemon, green apple and 1 scoop protein powder

D:  Juice and protein powder

S:  1 cup veggie broth.

I'm not counting calories, but I'm thinking I'm at about 1000-1400 per day... I think the juices average about 300 calories per juice, the protein powder is 85 calories per scoop, and the veggie broth is 10 calories.  Each day's veggie meal is probably around 200 calories...

Progress as of today: -4.6 lbs lost so far, only 16.2 lbs to go!

 Hello:)  Its been a long time...  I have done a few more IVF cycles, no luck yet...  After our latest failed cycle, I decided I need a bit of a break from IVF so I'm taking at least 1 month off...  IVF generally works better if you have a lower BMI so my goal for my month off is to lose a significant amount of weight.  With that said I am going to join my husband, and I talked skinnygrl into it too, in a juice fast...  After watching Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, it was very inspiring and looks like a good way to jumpstart weight loss.  I'm hoping to do 15 days of only freshly made juice, raw vegan protein powder, and 1 "meal" per day of vegetables...   I'm thinking of the whole process like an experiment and hoping it "reboots" my body back to healthy habits:)

B:  12 oz juice made with :  3 apples,  6 carrots, 1 orange, 1 lemon, small amount ginger, 4 stalks celery, 4 red cabbage leaves, 15 grapes, 6 kale leaves -this juice made 28oz, so my second juice is the rest of it:)

L:  Kale salad w/ kale, avocado, tomato, red cabbage and homemade honey balsalmic vinagrette

S:  1 scoop protein powder and the other 16oz of my breakfast juice.

D:  another juice and another protein powder... I honestly don't remember what I put in the last night juice, but it was similar to the morning juice but instead of kale I used chard and bok choy

E:  15 minutes eliptical and 30 minutes lifting chest and arms

Progress as of today: -8.4 lbs lost so far, only 20 lbs to go!

I know how emotionally and physically draining the IVF can be, so I think you are wise to take some time off. Good luck with the juice fast - you and Skinny are troopers for taking that on!

Last night, I was so stressed out and tired and feeling crappy that all I wanted was cheese, fruit, and wine... I made a big plate pf cheese and crackers and fruit and had 2 glasses of wine... No idea how many calories...  Today has been not the best, but its still salvagable...  We shall see

 I've updated my weight to this morning's weight-the scale was jumping all over the place, time for a new battery?  But this was the number it landed on most often... I hadn't stepped on the scale in two months so I honestly had no idea where it would fall.  Yesterday I ended at around 1560 calories, and got in a good workout, I will call that a success!!  I made a great "raw" pad thai with zucchini instead of pasta-I had to buy a julienne peeler for this creation and it was really fun and delicious-my husband even asked for seconds:)  The recipe is from the oh she glows blog and I  highly recommend it if you are looking for somthing healthy, veggie heavy, and deliciuos-I'm sure you could add chicken or shrimp to beef up the protein!   Here is the link if anyone is interested...

Today's plan is more staying on track, and getting another workout in...  Its so strange being home by myself every night, I'm definitely a people person, so its an adjustment to say the least.  But... I'm trying to think of it as an opportunity to re-acquaint myself with my own company... Its good for me, and... the one time in my life I lived completely on my own, I was the skinniest and in the best shape of my life, so I'm trying to re-create that a bit...   Plus, once my husband's training is over, I'm sure he won't work EVERY night-just 5 nites a week, lol.  And he will always have Sundays off so at least we will see each other one day per week.

I'm going to have to check out this blog because I find myself struggling to come up with yummy dinners that are also different than what we eat every day!

As for the new life style adjustment, I know it'll be tough at first... but I think it'll be a good motivator. And... if you ever need a girls night, my house, your house, out... you know I'm in.

Hello Everyone!  Its been quite a while since I've written.  I miss all of you:)   For those of you who know everything thats going on with me, lets suffice to say that round two had the same results as round one... Another chemical pregnancy... I think it definitely gets harder the longer you are at this IVF crap!  That said, we are gearing up for another frozen transfer in about a month in a half... If that doesn't work, I still have two fresh cycles plus more frozen cycles left that we have paid for and plan on doing...   So no matter what the outcome, I have a long road ahead of me still.  I know that lots of people struggle who do IVF, but I honestly thought that it would work pretty quickly for us, but, you know the best laid plans...

So...   I've come to the realization that I don't seem to be capable of obsessing abouit whether I'm pregnant or not AND focusing on healthy living at the same time.  Also, the fact that you are forbidden from exercising around transfer time for about two weeks each time really throws a wrench in any plans I might want to come up with... And being the all or nothing person that I am, healthy eating seems to go out the window during each cycle.

All of that said, I'm not sure I will be able to change any of that-as much as I'd like to say I can.  But when this time didn't work out, I was feeling very down, hopeless, and feeling very bad about myself because the drugs make me hormonal and make my skin horrible, and then on top of that I'm fatter than I've been in a year...

So...   my husband and I came up with a new plan for this cycle, we are going to live our lives like we are not doing IVF.  For the next month or so, I am going to try to be on a healthy living plan with a goal of weight loss!  After the transfer in a month and a half or so, I will not be able to do any intense exercise, but I can walk on the treadmill, so I will continue at the gym, just doing treadmill walking instead of whatever exercise routine I get into over the next month or so...  I also will continue to "diet" during the "two week wait".   Many women become pregnant and do not realize it and continue dieting for their first few weeks of pregnancy (heck, many women who don't know they are pregnant do WAY worse than that before they realize they are pregnant!).   I will not take pregnancy tests, and I will not obsess over the results.  My focus on health, fitness, and diet will be my priority!   If this cycle doesn't work either, well then I will come up with a new plan next time:)

I think right now is a good time to focus on health and a new routine because my husband is starting a new job as a bartender/server at a new restaurant that is opening next week (Bonefish Grill) while he continues his search for a new HR job.  That said, I will never see him for the next bit, so I need somthing to occupy my time!

 

Ok... rant over, feels good to have that off my chest...

My goal as of now will be "1600-1800ish" calories per day.  If I make somthing that is vegan and whole foods with veggies and a whole grain ( i make a lot of these type meals) I will always count a reasonable portions as 400 calories.  I feel like that is easier than adding up every morsel of the dish, and to be honest if I have an extra few calories that are vegan and whole foods, I can guarentee that they will not affect my weight loss.

I will weigh in tomorrow, and I "think" my goal will be to lose 6-8# in 30 days...

B:  coffee w/ almond milk (30) greek yogurt (140) sliced almonds (100) dry oatmeal (50) strawberries (40)  360
L:  trader joes' vegan enchiladas 260 
S:  Animal crackers 260-not the best choice, but could have been worse too...

D:  OhSheGlows- Raw pad thai-made with julienned zucchini instead of noodles!  Ingredients:  Zucchini, carrots, red peppers, red cabbage, edamame, peanut butter dressing, avocado 400

Goal: 1600-1800

Exercise: 36 minute walk run- I would walk for one song, run for song, so I'm thinking it came out about half and half...

I can't even tell you how excited I was to see your name at the top of the list when I signed in this morning.

I think your new plan to face this cycle is a really great idea. I know sometimes the very best thing for you is the hardest thing to do... at least it is with me. So while I know it'll be tough to not focus on what's around, and to just live... you can do this. You're one of the strongest people I know... you can do anything!

I have been going to the gym after work a lot, so if you ever need a workout buddy (at least until January haha) I'm here!

Hey girl!! Welcome back :) I like your new plan with the IVF..Congrats to your hubby..Bonefish has an amazing menu(LOVE the mussels and the bang bang shrimp :P ) The martini menu is heavenly too,LOL

Man the stress of this summer just doesn't stop...   Long story short, so much behind it, but my husband has been looking for a new job for months, and his current job has changed and the company is being unethical and his boss is absolutely making his life a living hell, now its affecting hubby's physical as well as mental health, and today he is giving his three weeks notice... I'm totally supportive and in agreement, but him doing this without having a job lined up is terrifying for both of us...   His intermediate plan is to get a job waiting tables (he has extensive esperience at this before his Human resources career) while he continues to look for a job in his field...  I know he will get SOME job, but I sure would feel better if he had it lined up...   

That said, my eating has been out of control...  I need to reign it in and get back in a routine of working out...  I guess one good thing is that we will not have any money to go out to eat or out for drinks for the forseeable future... Thats good for the diet, lol

Sorry to hear about your hubby. Easy to see why this would cause you stress eating. My son in law quit a job a few years ago because of a horrid boss but did so before finding another one. His wife (my stepdaughter) was furious!

Wow, good for him for giving his notice. I did that years ago and went to a temp agency and did that for a few months. A company I was temping for ended up hiring me full time and that was the start of a new career path for me! So you never know what can happen and I hope this is ultimately going to lead a better quality of life for both of you. I hope you have a good one today!

I'm back:)  Had a great but TIRING and a little bit stressful time at the PGA championship!  Definitely a once in a lifetime experience:)  The food choices available this weekend were less than stellar.. Literally the only vegetarian things to eat at teh tournament were packaged cookies for $4 and single serving bags of lays potato chips for $3.50... When we left each night at 7:00PM we were desperate to EAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!   We ended up getting veggie burgers and fries both nights at red robin because that was what was available, lol...  On Friday on our way out to the tournament we went wine tasting in the finger lakes-always a fun time:)

Yesterday was our last day of "vacation" and after sleeping our fatigue and sun burns away we had pizza for lunch and I went out to a new wine bar for wine, stinky cheese, and hummus with a friend... Today is back to reality...

Man oh man is it hard to get back in a healthy routine...  Today's plan is to put my head down and get tons of work done here at work in a few hours to get out of here at a reasonable time, get in a quick workout at the gym and then go to the store and buy some healthy food!  Its slim pickings at my house right now!

Man that is kinda crazy that an organization such as the PGA didn't have vegetarian options... It sounds like a blast though and I am glad you had a good time, I am sure it was nice to get away :)

Good luck getting back on your routine! Sounds like a lovely time though :) I've recently gone veggie and didn't realise some of the difficulties with it! Going to have to go out and get some different (healthier) proteins myself soon- can't live on soy products haha Enjoy the stocking up!
