*I am going to try the facebook challenge this week!!!*  I'm ready (at my required level of motivation) to do this and I'm really excited!

I'm trying to REALLY set myself up for success this week with lots of planning and prep!  I figured I would plan out tomorrow as much as possible tonight so its fool proof tomorrow...

This weekend was really quite fun...  Friday night was a bit of a party night, out for drinks for a friend's birthday!  Saturday I went out for lunch with my two best friends, deep cleaned my house (first time in a LONG time) did some grocery shopping and had a nice quiet early night...   Today we went to the animal shelter where we got our current kitty, Jasper about 1.5 years ago and picked out a new cat to adopt!!!!   Her name is Devonaire and she is a big girl who is 4 years old, super sweet and friendly!!!   We pick her up and bring her home tomorrow...  It will be VERY interesting to see how she gets along with Jasper who is VERY playful and rambunctious!!!  The main reason we are getting a new cat is for a playmate for Jasper so we will see how it goes... I'm confident that eventually they will be best friends, but I'm a little worried about them getting to know each other..... LOL...   Anyway, all in all it was a good weekend... Foods yet again were not perfect... Hence my planning and prep to set myself up for success this week!  My plan for right now is to have 7 perfect days in a row... Monday-Sunday...  I'm not looking any farther into the future, just focusing on the short term because that is whats necessary for success in the end...

Ok enough rambling... onto my food plan!

B:  2 slices light toast (90) 2T peanut butter (200) 1 banana (80) 370 *CHECK*

L:  Broccoli slaw w/ mandarin oranges, water chestnuts, sesame tempeh and light sesame dressing (250) Strawberries (80) greek yogurt (100) 430 *CHECK*

S:  Tuna salad w/ bran crisps:  Tuna (120) Greek yogurt (40) celery/pickle relish (10)  4 bran brisps (50) 105 *CHECK*

D:  Joseph's oat bran and flax pitas-2 (120) Hummus (80) mozzerella cheese (80) sauteed mushrooms/spinach (20) 300 Was really craving a big burger so I had a morning star farms 1/4 pounder (250) wheat hamburger roll (120) slice 2% cheese (45) sauteed mushrooms (10) 425

S:  Other 1/2 of my tuna salad... I will have 1/2 the tuna and 2 bran crisps as my early snack and the same here... 105 Small serving veggie slaw 100

Devonaire, what a fancy name! You have to post a pic of her, pleeeease :). We adopted our Osiris at his age of 4, too. He was so friendly, he arrived and took the place under control. He was boss from the very first day and he continues to be the dominant male. It had been rather difficult for 2 weeks, Fritz, our first cat and him didn't really go along well with each other... we were afraid also and saw no progress, but suddenly they started to get on well, especially when the cold weather came in, they started to sleep together :D Cats and their mania for body/fur heat! :)

ahh and when the third cat came in, there were no stress. He was very small though, 6 weeks or something. They didn't consider him as a threat, and by the time he was a grown-up cat, they were accustomed to each other.

Wow... Went out last night with my husband, brother in law and his girlfriend to celebrate her... wait for it... 21st birthday... He's my age-well 6 months younger than me, so he's still 29....  She's really cool though, so age is just a number I guess...  However, I am too old for that kind of partying...   We went to a burrito bar and I had 1/2 a quesadilla and 2 mason jars full of frozen marguarita... Then to a sports bar where I had a bud light lime and a shot of petron...   Then onto a pseudo dance club... (bar and grill w/ dance floor and dj on the weekends) where I had 2 more shots of petron and 2 more light beers... OUCH:)  Surprisingly I only have a slight headache and groggy feeling today... I did dance so much that my legs and back are sore today, so at least I got some exercise in...  Overall it was a really fun night...  Unfortunately my hangover ruled my thinking this morning and I started the day with a bagel with cream cheese... oops!!   In a couple hours I am meeting some girlfriends at Moe's for burritos... I'm going to peruse their menu calculator right now so I can plan my calories accordingly... Even though I started out w/ a bad choice, that doesn't mean I should make bad choices the rest of the day!

B:  pumpernickel bagel with honey walnut cream cheese 400

L:  Moe's homewrecker streaker (burrito w/out the tortilla) I figured that I had enough of a carby breakfast, that I didnt' need a TON of carbs for lunch...  This will be a burrito bowl with:  Black beans, rice, tofu, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, tomatoes and maybe some sauteed mushrooms... It is 600 calories!

Total so far: 1000

Goal: Under 1800

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only 36.8 lbs to go!

Woo... Crazy day!  Just getting to post now... My department did a luncheon for the entire campus today in honor of national nutrition month... We did a "nutritional trends" lunch...  The trends and foods were as follows:

Sneaking in fruits and veggies and whole grains:  Butternut squash, whole grain macaroni and cheese

Vitamin D:  Ahi tuna and tomato skewars

Antioxidants:  Pomegranate Green tea and dark chocolate coveres strawberries

Whole Grains:  Tabouleh

Flexitarian Lifestyle:  Whole grain rolls w/ portabello "burgers"

It was a lot of work, but definitely a big hit with everyone:)

B:  veggie burger (120) on sandwich roll (130) 250

L:  1/2 cup mac and cheese (200) 1 mini whole grain roll (150) 2 portabello mushrooms (50) roasted peppers, carmelized onions (40) basil aioli (100) 2 tuna/tomato skewars (100)  2T tabouleh (50) 2 dark chocolate covered strawberries (100) 750...   Quite a high lunch but I think I did well overall....

Total so far: 1000

Goal: 1800

I ran a mile and a half yesterday so that was good in keeping with my running every other day plan!!!

I ended yesterday at 1910 calories... Not great but no all out binge at night time, so I'm pretty happy...   Today I REALLY want to stay below 1800 calories... I MUST stop the night time snacking...   I seriously don't know what my problem is!

L:  healthy choice meal (250) leftover orzo and wild rice (150) 400
L:  New Plan there was a TON of food that our executive chef made for functions leftover so I had the following:  Big plate of raw baby spinach (20)  topped with:  Roasted red peppers (30) 4 tomato slices (20) grilled veggies (100) marinated artichokes (100) 1/4 cup veggie slaw (150)  420

S:  greek yogurt (100) w/ cocoa/cinnamin almonds (100) cheese stick (50)  250

D:  was totally craving comfort food so I made french toast:  6 slices lite bread (210) seriously... only 210 calories for 6 slices bread!!  1 egg (70) 1 egg white (10) 3/4 cup almond milk (30) 2T lite margarine (100)  420

S:  4 bran crisps (50) w/ 2 laughing cows (70) 120

S:  Amy's "no chicken" soup w/ 4 tirscuits (250) peach (50) 200

Total so far: 1660

Goal:  UNDER 1800!

its so hard to stay out of the kitchen at night time!! maybe try to plan for a really low cal and filling snack for when you want to eat? i usually make some hot tea or cocoa with almond milk - it's filling and 50 cals so I dont feel back when i wake up the next day. hope you have a great tuesday.

I think it's when people arrive home they let themselves go, distracted, relieved from the day's stress and become more vulnerable to comfort foods because they taste good, they give the feeling a boost, amplifying the relief and coziness... don't blame yourself, we are all the same... you can choose healthy snacks, but at the end, calories count! :(

Decaf tea or low-cal hot chocolate are good "fillers" at night. Or as loveray suggested maybe just plan for a snack in your daily calories. I'll do that if I plan to drink wine, I'll cut out daytime snacks to allow for the extra calories. I still think you did really well!

So very happy! lol just hope the rest of the week is just as good. I have a problem with late night snacking too cause evryone else around me is doing it too. I have to fight the urge to not eat the oreos my roommates are having so badly! I try to drink green-tea and celery w/ PB or hummus to fill my cravings.

I have yet to understand why nightime is such a problem. I have now decided to leave something to eat especailly for nightime, just in case. Usually some cereal or high fibre toast, fills me up and doesn't do to much damage to the total intake. I am wishing you success with the calorie total today!!:)

Glad you had a good weekend! Wow, good for you for running twice during the weekend, that's pretty amazing! I wish I could be running outside consistently; our weather keeps changing around though - this past weekend we got another blanket of snow on the ground and it's icy as heck right now!

Hi Everyone!  Just wanted to stop in for a quick hi... I am not counting calories today as its husband's birthday and he wanted to go out for a lunch of mexican and a complimentary giant margarita at our local burrito bar...  That was the start of our day, followed by a quick beer at the local sports bar to check in on his brackets for NCAA... We are now home and I just got home from a walk in the amazing 60 degree and sunny day...  We are relaxing until meeting his family out for dinner and drinks in a couple hours... Amazing day... Not diet friendly, but none the less amazing... I will be back and counting calories tomorrow!

**Last night's dinner is posted in the recipe forum... It was SO yummy I highly recommend trying it either for a meatless monday, or I'm quite positive it would be awesome with chicken for all you meat eaters out there**

According to my calculations, I ended yesterday at around 1800 calories, but I feel extremely bloated, to the point I can't get my wedding rings off today, so I'm wondering if maybe I under estimated my dinner?  It was a little salty, but not ridiculous... Today its back to grey and cold.. Sigh...  BUT... as of 5PM today I'm a free women for 4 glorious days and I took tomorrow and friday off to be with my husband for his birthday weekend:)  We both have the days off and its suppose to be nice!!!!!  I did go running yesterday with husband... we ran 1 mile... We are starting off slowly, as so not to get discouraged, but I LOVE running outside with him, so I'm pretty pumped... I did step on the scale last night and it was out of control scary, but my weight does usually go up 4-5# over the course of a day, so we shall see... We are going out to an italian restaurant for his birthday tomorrow night so that will be tricky!!  Have a good day everyone!

Oh, that is definietly water retention, sounds like a good couple of pounds. I know if I can't get my rings on that is what it is, and a couple of days later voila the scale moves.!! No salt for you until those rings fit back on though!! Enjoy your time with your husband, a long weekend sounds great!

I don't know this as a scientific fact, but only from experience. I once went on an elimination diet to see if my baby was allergic to something in my breast milk - well I really noticed the difference in my stomach pooch when I stopped consuming flour ( pasta !) Weird, but true for me. It seemed to magically deflate when I stopped eating flour and wheat. But, that was no picnic!

I ended up at about 1840 calories yesterday... I was chugging green tea last night in an effort not to eat... and I ended up having insomnia... uggghhh you cannot win!   I didn't go running as it was SUPER cold and I got stuck at work until 6:30 so it was STILL dark when I got home last night... Today, the sun is shining, there are actual birds chriping (where did they come from) and I should have no issue getting out of work at 5PM, so a run is definitely on tap!  I have a super busy morning, so I probably won't catch up on all your diaries till this afternoon or possibly this evening, but I hope everyone has a good day...   I am going to have a great one, this sun and birds are definitely a good sign!!!!!

B:  2 egg white and cheese wraps 260... These are SO good but I cannot spend $2 every morning on breakfast... I MUST get back to making my own breakfast...

You should try some decaf herbal teas. Yogi makes some excellent ones that always seem to help curb my late night cravings. Save the green tea for your mornings! :)

Thanks for the UTI tips. I read that caffeine and alcohol doesnt help either. I can give up the beer and wine, but Im not sure I can forgo my coffee. I just got her back last week! You are right though, I dont drink many sugary beverages, so at least I got that going for me!

I am lucky we get birds all year round, sometimes it would be nice not to be awoken by their enthusiasm!! It does seem as if things work against not eating at night doesn't it?? I hope you figure out something for tonight, the herbal's may do the trick. At least you are starting the day off with a happy start, and that is great!!:)
