Weight: 210.0

Friday - Sunday were setup, race, teardown days.  I stuck to Slimfast shakes and meal replacement bars for breakfast / lunch.  Dinners I went out with the guys and had pizza 2 nights, burger & fries on Sunday night.  I was starving by the time dinner came around and ate 1/2 of a thin crust large pizza on both Friday and Saturday.  Sunday I was having to change tires during the brief lunch break so succumbed to eating 8 or 9 Twizzlers as lunch.

Today I'm back in the office mulling over the race weekend and trying to relax / decompress.  I'm also back to a controlled eating environment now, although there is another 2-day race weekend this Sat/Sun.

Progress as of today: 59.6 lbs lost so far, only 35 lbs to go!

wow, Dude. thats a 7 pound loss. Awesome !

graindart on 05/20/2013:
7-lb loss after a 3-lb gain the week before. To be honest my weekend eating has been so messed up that to get an accurate weekly assessment I should probably be weighing in on Thursdays or Fridays instead of Mondays.

nenak on 05/20/2013:
Still 4lb down well done

skinnygrlwithin on 05/20/2013:
It's always hard trying to control your eating when your normal environment is changed and your options are limited. Sounds like you did a decent amount of work though over the weekend so don't be too tough on yourself.

grannyannie on 05/20/2013:
It's so tough to eat right when we go out! Have a great week.

V on 05/20/2013:
Congrats on your loss! Have an awesome week :)

After seeing the weight increase yesterday I decided to do a drastic change for this week.  I've been relaxing my eating habits over the past few weeks and have been slowly slipping back into the mentality that I can eat whatever and still keep losing weight.  My caloric intake has been creeping up each week and this week I'm going to be much more strict and try to limit my calories to a much greater degree.

Yesterday I ended up with 3 low-carb Slimfasts and water.

Before anyone comments, "yes" I know that a very low caloric intake of less nutrional food isn't something that is optimal nor sustainable.  It is a one week exercise in getting back in control.  (It may only be a 5 day exercise due to races this weekend.)

Progress as of today: 52.4 lbs lost so far, only 42.2 lbs to go!

Puddles on 05/14/2013:
Sometimes you just have to try something new for a while and get back on track. Good luck and have a great day.

skinnygrlwithin on 05/14/2013:
I understand where you're coming from... I also cannot judge since if I had a bad weekend I used to not eat at all on the monday following to get back on track. You just have to find what works for you and do your best to always keep your goal in mind... but we all have our moments.

Well, I've been off my eating plans several times this past week.  I didn't expect a loss, but I definitely didn't expect that much of a gain.  Oh well, back to being more mindful of what I'm eating this week.

Progress as of today: 52.4 lbs lost so far, only 42.2 lbs to go!

skinnygrlwithin on 05/13/2013:
I completely understand... it's amazing how quickly we gain the weight back! Don't worry you can do this!

Puddles on 05/13/2013:
Funny how easy it is to put it on and so hard to take it off. Have a good week. You know what to do.

Warning, a lot of non-diet talk listed below.

I've been busy the past few days so haven't had time to check-in here to log my days.  They haven't been all that bad, except for yesterday.  Friday I was finishing up some stuff on the Miata and getting the truck / trailer ready to haul it to my first autocross race of the season.  Saturday was a large local car show (600 or so entrants).  My dad and I own a '67 Firebird together and we took it down and showed it with my local SCCA race club.  My good friend actually won Best Import for his 70's 280z with a custom paint job and a Chevy 383 stuffed in it (all work completed by him).  The car show was an all day event and I was drained by the end and had a nice sunburn.  I never sleep good before a race and Saturday night was no exception.  I was in bed for approximately 6-7 hours, but woke up approximately 5 times so don't have a clue how much actual sleep I ended up with.

Yesterday morning I woke up at 4:20am and hit the road with my brother-in-law as it was a 3 hour drive to the event.  There were 30-40 entrants at this small event.  It's a wide range of cars: 5 or 6 Miatas, a Lotus, original Mini Cooper, Alpha Romeo, Porsche, MR2, two nice newer Corvettes, several Subaru AWD / turbos, Camaro, and various others.  This was my first event with all of the changes to the Miata this year (supercharger, coilovers, racing tires, etc).  It was a bit more of a learning curve than I was expecting and the car definitely behaves a lot different than last year.  In the end I had the 3rd fastest time of the day.  The Lotus beat me by 0.2 seconds (2 tenths of a second) and a 2013 Subaru STI AWD / turbo beat me by 0.8 seconds (8 tenths of a second).  I was both happy with the performance and a little disappointed.  I was impressed with how the car performed and it was a fun day.  Although 0.9 seconds faster would've transformed it from a fun day to an excellent day.  Packed up and started the 3 hour drive home.

I didn't have time during the day to eat lunch (grabbed a granola bar during a work/drive switch).  Once on the road I ate the large sandwich I had packed.  Tried a couple smoked pieces of meat my brother-in-law brought.  Stopped 1/2 hour into the drive to get gas and bought a bag of popcorn and a can of iced tea / lemonade.  By this time I was really dragging.  Stopped an hour later and bought a Red Bull energy drink and a bag of chocolate covered pretzels.  Ate most of the bag and drank the Red Bull.  It didn't make me feel "better", but I was feeling much more awake, so "job accomplished".  The last 1.5 hours my brother-in-law was talking about various restaurants quite a bit, so my mind kept going to what I wanted to pickup and eat.  I made it home without giving in this time and ate an apple when I got home.  It wasn't satisfying, but was definitely less guilt inducing.

Water intake was low the past couple of days and may account for the lower weight today.  This week should be more normal, so next week's weigh-in should tell the story better.

Progress as of today: 55.6 lbs lost so far, only 39 lbs to go!

Puddles on 05/06/2013:
Congrats. You have been busy last weekend. Have a great day.

OhioRaven on 05/06/2013:
You had a Great weekend. Good job on the diet I'm 5'8" wide body frame. People, pastor, daughter, wife, co-worker, think I look like I'm sick now. I'm Not starving and not working out either. I'm really trying to find a happy medium. I usually loose a lot of weight and then jump back to the buffet. Not this time, at least, not yet anyway. I'm gonna stay with this same diet of food I've been eating and see where it takes me. Good Luck, Buddy.

hollybelle on 05/08/2013:
Sounds like you had wonderful weekend and I am vry impressed you came in 3rd fastest time for the day! Extra bonus - no guilt for eating when or stuff you didn't want to!

Have a lovely day.

The past few days have been less than stellar.  I didn't fall completely off the wagon, but I was only holding on with one hand while being dragged behind the wagon.  Ice cream, some small chocolate bars, chips, and lots of overeating.  The reason I wasn't completely off the wagon was because the ice cream was only 1 scoop in a cone, the chocolate bar pieces added up to a total of just over 1 regular sized bar, the chips were a baked "healthier" type, and the majority of the overeating was on foods that weren't the worst for me.

I definitely didn't deserve a weight loss this week, but I'm very thankful for it.  I made a large batch of a thick hardy soup with hamburger, tomato sauce, pasta, beans, corn, fried cabbage, onion, garlic, and bacon.  I then usually top it off with some cheese, salsa, sour cream.  After seeing a few of you others making larger batches of soup, I've tried it a few times now.  I don't usually like eating the same stuff on back to back days, but it sure does help to keep me on track when I know exactly what I'm eating for lunches during the weekdays.  I think the lack of planning for meals is what ends up hurting me the most.

It's a new week and I'm climbing back up inside the wagon again.

Progress as of today: 52 lbs lost so far, only 42.6 lbs to go!

Puddles on 04/29/2013:
congrats on weight loss. Yes the routine is good. Large batch of a meal means you do not have to think about what you have to make for the next meal or the next day.

OhioRaven on 04/29/2013:
Congratulations ! Good work with the soup. I just gotta have it. I know the real reason you didn't fall with a thud is because you didn't want to let us down when we're all cheering for you. (just kidding) I'm sure the girls (Daughters, Wife ) are happy for you. I know EXACTLY what you mean about the maintaining. It could be a killer. I'm just keeping on. Congratulations again.

IndependentEm93 on 04/29/2013:
Congrats on the weight loss this week!
