Today I am grateful for where I live!
Still have an aquarium and some other stuff to get rid in the loft but it's a LOT emptier.
A regular at the gym asked me today about how much I workout. I told her and she seemed to think that was too much (she's very fit) and that our bodies need good rests. I'm wondering how long I can keep up this intensity and if I'll burn out. I didn't want to go to the gym this morning but made myself. I rarely feel that way. I wonder if I should get a professional opinion on my workouts? Most weeks I do a minimum of 3 hours cardio, 5 hours strength training (gym & home).
Workout at gym:
Just checking in quickly. Busy sorting out and cleaning stuff for the charity shops, more out of the loft and other places to dump or give away. Cleaning the guest room - washing the musty smelling pillows and freshening the duvets and covers as we'll have guests mid October. Will shampoo the carpet and sofa bed later. Guess that was my work out. A bit of extra snacking today. Back to the gym tomorrow and a full home workout of strength training.
Progress as of today: 37.2 lbs lost so far, only 1.8 lbs to go!
Today I am extremely grateful that my packrat husband has finally decided to clean out our loft which is packed with junk. We are putting in extra insulation before getting a new heating system and all that stuff would make it really difficult. Woohoo!!!
The charity shops are going to be happy to see me! I helped with the loft emptying, of course, and did have to keep an eye on him so he wouldn't dump stuff that I wanted to keep, like a couple things of sentimental value and some nice picture frames. So I didn't get to do my strength training this afternoon. I'll do it tomorrow which kinda screws up my schedule this week as I won't do these two days in a row.
Rainy, yucky day and very chilly! Oh well.
Workout at gym:
Happy Sunday, ladies. Today I am grateful for my family & friends.
We have booked our trip to Michigan for next summer to see my family, especially grandkids. So far no plans for a trip-within-a- trip as last year when we rented a house on Lake Michigan.
Scale finally creeping down even though I haven't been really good lately--mostly wine and too many oatcakes.
Rest day, at least from workouts anyway. Plan to 'super-clean' one of the bathrooms today--wash all the wall tiles, tops of cupboards, sort out the cupboards, all the wee corners that get missed during a regular cleaning. Might start on the guest room as we have a couple coming to visit the middle of Oct.

Today I am grateful for breakfast in bed with the love of my life and a lovely view of the loch propped up in bed!
Forecast was wrong. Was hoping for a hike today but it's cold, cloudy and showery. Sigh.
I'm afraid the end of the berry season is coming. Strawberries have not been very good the last couple of weeks. Raspberries are still very good. Blueberrries (unless in a muffin or pancakes) are not my favourite and really only eat them because they are very good for you. Don't know what I'll do with my plain greek yogurt - can't eat it w/o fresh berries. Guess I'll need to go back to buying mixed yogurts until berry season returns - I refuse to buy frozen berries.
Workout at home: (did 1 or 2 extra sets on several of my routines since I missed Weds. strength training)
Edit: oops forgot to add: also did 200 jump rope and 20 mins on my exercise bike!
Progress as of today: 36.6 lbs lost so far, only 2.4 lbs to go!
Today I am grateful for fresh fruit.
A few people at my gym were discussing the new Dallas and they asked if I was watching it. I replied no but that I watched it in the 80's and that was enough. Got a quizzical look from a couple of them as they did the math! They are all 20's to maybe early 40's so were kids or not yet born when it was first on (I was in my late 20's/early 30's at that time). The UK has been showing reruns of the original since long before I ever moved here. Why?!
There's a parade in Glasgow today with all the Scottish participants who were on Team GB in the Olympics/Paralympics. But the weather is not nice (surprise!). Very windy with showers off and on. So we're not going. If Andy Murray was going to be there I'd go anyway, but he isn't.
Workout at gym:
I'll do the at-home strength training portion tomorrow morning.

I've got the very first new "Dallas" to watch on the DVR--I wanted to see what the fuss was. I never got into the original--a couple of roommates watched it and I never could. I think the appeal is the cutthroat drama perhaps (more than they'd do in a regular daytime soap--never got into those either). Being a native Texan, I think the accents just threw me. I love Larry Hagman's story, but to watch him as JR is a stretch. His mother, Mary Martin was a native Texan, but his accent leaves a lot to be desired:-)
Today I am grateful for the internet!
Got my hair trimmed today as I was tempted to butcher my bangs/fringe again. Rotator cuff feels much better but was stiff when I woke up - took ibuprofen, hubby massaged it, and I did some stretching. I will pay close attention when I do the resistance machines and weights tomorrow and if it feels likes it's being aggravated I'll stop.
I've been feeling deprived and just plain hungry lately. Increasing my calories again as I think they are still too low for my level of activity. I'm very close to wear I want to be so need to experiment some more.

Today I am grateful that I am retired!
Changed my routine on the resistance machines at the gym today from 4 sets of 10 reps to 3 sets of 12. In doing so I hurt my left rotator cuff, but not badly. I think I did it on the chest press on the final rep. I get very nervous about hurting that area since quite a few years ago I had problems with it (although it was on the other side). So decided not do my strength training at home this afternoon. Doing gentle stretching and took some Ibuprofen.
Workout at gym:
ps I read an article about Murray (rah, rah!) that mentioned he and Djokovic played their very first match at age 11--pretty wild ride all these years for both of them to still be around at the top of the heap:-)
Today I am thrilled that Andy Murray (a Scot from Dunblane, a wee village near Stirling) won the US Open Tennis last night! However, this is tinged with sadness in memory of what happened on this date 11 years ago.
Woke up to sun but now it's sun, clouds, showers, sun, clouds, rain.... Was hoping I could go for a hike today but really don't enjoy it in the rain. I should learn to enjoy it due to what country I live in!!

Today I am grateful for the good health & fitness of my husband and I.
Hubby's such a good nephew! He went over to Glasgow again today to check on his 85 year old uncle. So I'm cooking dinner as we don't have any leftovers!

All the ones I'm thinking of just stopped posting with no explanation. One man who posted for a couple of years was in increasingly poor health and he kept letting us know things weren't going so well. He wasn't dying or anything, but you have to think he didn't just quit posting--I couldn't think his health hasn't had something to do with it. When you don't hear one way or the other, that person (even though most of us will probably never meet) is preserved as his diary was. He was a gem and one of the few men who posted regularly for awhile here--there have been a handful.

Good deal on sorting out all that stuff and doing some fall cleaning, I'm sure it feels great to get it squared away! I'm sure you'll get some good answers here about your workout schedule. I can go through periods of working out 4 or 5 days a week but I can't sustain that level overall, I just burn out too easily. For me, it's more of a matter of finding a balance among exercise and all the other stuff I need to get done each day. If I had lots of free time and no children I would be able to work out more often - no question. My opinion is that if you're feeling burned out you should cut back a bit - maybe someone at the gym will have better advice for you!

I've always wanted an aquarium, I just can't find a place to put it where I could watch and enjoy it! Sometimes the workout routine becomes your life and you feel driven to keep to that schedule. You and V have always worked out hard and long, but how do you know if it is too much? I guess when you don't feel like doing it anymore you might need to change it a little. We rode our bikes last night and I really enjoyed it because the weather was nice. I didn't feel like I was being pushed into doing something because it was good for me, I just felt like doing it!! Hope you can find a happy schedule!!

Balance is tough to accomplish, especially when it's different for each of us. Listen to your body; it will tell you if you're going too far with the workouts. You may find some great benefits to cutting back on the exercising as well. Change is good!

Okay so here is my take on this..Maybe you can ease up on the dual workouts to avoid burnout. Maybe alternate gym and at home workouts? Or on the days you hit it hard at the gym, go a little easier with your at home workouts(or vice versa)
If I do a intense class in the morning, i usually follow it up with a stretch/yogaish class in the evening and do my ab routine Mon. Wed. Friday.. Anyhoo I am sure you will find a happy medium..Have a good evening Annie <3
