Today I am grateful for sunshine and my lovely loch!
Happy Saturday, ladies!
My husband makes 99% of our dinners so tonight I'm making something as I have been craving spaghetti recently. It's a recipe I've never tried. I'm also making French bread but have already calculated the calories/gram (once it's been baked anyway). I rarely eat anything made with white flour but I'll make an exception this time.
The spaghetti sauce calls for red wine so I guess I'll need to have a glass as well!
Vegetarian spaghetti bolognese made with Quorn (you can buy it in the US as well):
http://www.quorn.co.uk/recipes/61/
The scale has finally budged! It's been stuck on 131.* for ages and went up to 132 after the indulgences of last weekend (ice cream, cookies, wine, rolls). But today went down to 130.4 so I'm changing it on my stats.
Workout:
Menu:
- B: porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/raspberries/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
- L: 2 eggs, 2 slices turkey bacon, 1 multigrain toast
- S: fresh pineapple
- D: vegetarian spaghetti bolognese, French bread w/garlic & marg, salad, glass of red wine
- Teas & water
TOTAL: about 1700
Progress as of today: 36.6 lbs lost so far, only 2.4 lbs to go!

Today I am grateful for my family!
Seems like my life revolves around my workouts and meal planning and counting!
Although the curries my husband makes aren't all the same and the ingredients vary, I need a change sometimes. The BBQ last Saturday was a nice change, but I guess to have something different I need to do some of the cooking occasionally. So tomorrow I'm going to make whole wheat spaghetti with homemade sauce and Quorn mince instead of hamburger. I haven't made French bread before but I'll be making it tomorrow. Husband is at a political meeting all day tomorrow and he's the one who has made the French bread before. I'll make a garlic spread for it as well. Salad as well. The one drawback about this meal is the French bread is so good it's hard to stop eating it!!

Hope you lovely ladies have a healthy & pleasant day!

Today I am grateful for technology!
Hope everybody is doing well!
I've been feeling and seeing changes in my body recently. The loose skin is tightening up, especially around my middle, my bum is still saggy but less so, more muscular legs.
My goal now is to get smaller boobs (goal weight should do it), get rid of those bat wings, smaller saddlebags, tighten up skin under arms, a 29-30" waist, bum of steel!
Workout at gym:
I've been doing the spin bike 4 times a week (3 in gym, 1 in class) and think a change is needed. So I'm skipping the Weds spin bike at the gym and doing treadmill/elliptical instead.
- 30 mins treadmill (5.5-6kph, 7-12% incline)
- 25 mins elliptical
- 4 sets of 10 on 6 resistance machines
- cables/pulley for triceps
- back lifts on half ball
Workout at home:
- dumbbells - 4 sets of 10 - 7 routines
- planks (full and alternating)
push ups - doing this instead (thanks Sweetpea1977!):
- triceps dips
- side dips with dumbbell
- abs-5 routines
- bridge (for glutes)

- squats
- lunges w/dumbbells
- thigh master

Where has everybody disappeared to???
I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same question. ~Harun Yahya
I stuck to plan yesterday, then after dinner realized we had to go to friends' house to help with a mock interview as our friend has a big job interview tomorrow. Being wine lovers they kept refilling my glass and I didn't object.
We stayed quite late and plates of shortbread and biscuits (cookies) were put right in front of me. Argghh..... Feeling a bit tired today and I had intended to do a tae bo/jump rope workout. Or go for a walk. Maybe later.....
Menu:
- B: porridge/cinnamon/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
- L: 2 toast w/pate, banana
- S: clementine
- D: veggie curry & rice, salad, drink
- S: apple, 1 oatcake
- Teas & water

Today I am grateful for living in such a friendly country--where you can chat to strangers on the street or at the bus stop, where almost everybody thanks the bus driver when they get off the bus, where the driver will drop you off right in front of your house, and where it's free for people like me who are 60 and older!!
Good news! The Scottish government wants to help everybody make their homes more fuel efficient. So they will give you a grant and an interest free loan to have the new system installed. We have decided on an air heat pump. The house will be warmer AND we'll cut our fuel bills by about 2/3!
Got off track yesterday and started eating the leftovers from Saturday night - chicken, potatoes, a devilled egg, a roll, ice cream. I'm on track now though!
Workout at gym:
- 35 mins spin bike (I can't believe they got it fixed already! They are usually VERY slow about getting equipment fixed.)
- 25 mins treadmill at an incline of 7-10%
- 4 sets of 10 on 6 resistance machines
- cables/pulley for triceps
- back lifts on half ball
Workout at home:
- dumbbells - 4 sets of 10 - 7 routines
- planks (full and alternating)
- push ups
- triceps dips
- side dips with dumbbell
- abs-5 routines
- bridge (for glutes)
- thighs/glutes with ankle weights
- squats
- lunges w/dumbbells
- thigh master
Menu:
- B: porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
- S: post workout: 2 oatcakes w/pb
- L: 2 toasted multigrain bread w/liver pate, plain greek yogurt w/raspberries
- S: clementine

- S: V8, clementine

Your spaghetti sounded good sometimes you just need some comfort food and something different. I saw your comment about having itchy feet to travel. I don't know what I'll do when I get home- maybe see the rest of my own country! Travels in your own area my do the trick.

great exercise and food plan!

Congrats on your loss while I've been away, great work! I saw your link for the Quorn recipe below. I've just started getting the plain (unbreaded) Quorn patties and they are awesome. I've seen the minced too so I'll have to try that next!

I can't wait to do Tracy's workout this evening! I just love that routine :) have a wonderful day Annie <3

Well it looks like you had a successful weekend and dropped more weight!! That's nice of your hubby to take care of his uncle. And then to come home to a home cooked supper! Have a great week!
Maria7 on 09/10/2012:
That is sweet that he keeps a check on his Uncle. :-)

RYC: Yep, that's how it starts--here today, gone tomorrow.
All the ones I'm thinking of just stopped posting with no explanation. One man who posted for a couple of years was in increasingly poor health and he kept letting us know things weren't going so well. He wasn't dying or anything, but you have to think he didn't just quit posting--I couldn't think his health hasn't had something to do with it. When you don't hear one way or the other, that person (even though most of us will probably never meet) is preserved as his diary was. He was a gem and one of the few men who posted regularly for awhile here--there have been a handful.
