Today I am grateful that I've been able to see so much of the world and that it opened my eyes.
Sunny today! Not anything like yesterday. Pouring rain, thunder, lightning, hail.
Ok, I'm obviously not getting enough fuel with the intense workouts as shown by my 'binge' yesterday. I was HUNGRY. Today I'm keeping it around 1300 because I had a lot of cals yesterday and will have a lot on Saturday with company coming.
Otherwise the plan I'll try is 1500 on my heavy workout days, 1400 on spin bike day, 1300 on rest days, and one day a week of about 1700.
Today I am grateful for sunshine and stunning scenery!
Husband got up an hour early to go to Glasgow to check on his uncle. So I figured since he's getting up at 6.30 and waking me up anyway, I might as well just get up and get to the gym an hour early. So I got back home just after 11.30 and did my hour of at-home strength training before lunch.
The scale is NOT budging. Maybe I need more high cal days? I certainly don't need less calories or more workouts. I only want to lose a couple more pounds. Ack! I've been 131.* for the last 7 days.
Workout at gym:
40 mins spin bike (level 10 - nearly 500 calories!)
My workout today will be housework. I'm cleaning the inside of the oven and cleaning the outside which is stainless steel. Looks so nice when it's all shiny but doesn't last for long! Then I'm going to do a top to bottom in one of the bathrooms...wall tiles, etc. Then I'll start to tidy up the guest room (aka junk room) as we may have overnight guests next month.
Today I am grateful for my warm, cozy home on a chilly day!

Really dreich (dreary) day here today.
Friends dropped by yesterday so I had a half pint of my hubby's home-brewed beer (mmm). We invited them for dinner this coming Saturday, so it's a good thing that's now my higher calorie day. It'll just be much higher than usual!
I'm increasing my heavy workout day calories to 1400.
Hubby and I did not intend to go into town today for the Highland Games, but his Aunt and Uncle who live across the water near Glasgow wanted to meet up. We did not go the games at all, nor stay for the March Past with all the pipers. The day started out lovely but then we had showers. So the 4 of us sat in a hotel restaurant overlooking the town square and loch and had beers.
Didn't take my camera into town but noticed the dark clouds around the castle so snapped this with my camera phone: (this is where my wedding was and also my UK citizenship ceremony)
So unexpectedly today became my high calorie day--should have been Tuesday. So I guess I'm changing it to Saturdays now.
The annual Highland Games began here yesterday and finish Saturday night. Lots of competitors from around the world, especially Canada and the US--traditional Scottish games, highland dancing, bagpipes, etc. We don't go to the games any more but do try to get to the March Past at the very end when all the pipers march down the town's main street.
Today I am grateful for my wonderful, loving, patient husband!
Scale is down again (a little too fast but I'm not worried as I'm sure some is fluid loss). I might increase my calories on my heavy workout days to 1400. Felt a bit low on energy yesterday. Being the indulgent girl that I am I've made a wee list of treats for when I hit goal weight..... that chocolate ice cream cone I posted a photo of a couple of weeks ago; or a bacon roll; or just a nice lunch out somewhere. Maybe I'll take advantage of the free bus and take a trip to a nice village I've been to many times and have lunch in one of the cafes.
Today I am grateful for my granddaughters! The 7 year old read me a book on Skype yesterday and the 2 year old sometimes listened.
Both my parents are gone but if they were still here they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Monday. This is one of my favourite pics of them. Think they were still newlyweds then.
Workout at gym:
35 mins spin bike (seriously intense!)
20 mins treadmill (power walk on an incline)
4 sets of 10 on 6 resistance machines (included quad machine - no problem)
cables/pulley for triceps
back lifts on half ball
Workout at home: (will do after my lunch has digested)
dumbbells - 4 sets of 10 - 7 routines
planks (full and alternating)
side dips with dumbbell
bridge (for glutes)
thighs/glutes with ankle weights
lunges w/dumbbells (I'll know if my knee and quad are okay by how they feel when I do this)
Today I am grateful for fresh, sweet fruit, a soothing hot shower, and classical music. I am also grateful that today is the day I get extra calories!
Wanted to shake up my routine so did a tae bo this morning. My knee is still a bit sore but I only notice during certain moves. I'm sure I hurt my quad and knee during the week I did all the biking, especially trying to ride up a steep hill along with a very intense strength spin bike class.
Scale is down again but it appears I've lost 2 pounds since Thursday. Although I do feel smaller I suspect at least some of that is fluid loss. I'm keeping an eye on the scale and my energy level to see if I may need to adjust my calories upward.
