So knackered today! I think I did too much yesterday with both gym and the 4 mile power walk. Didn't get my strength training in yesterday and don't know if I'll manage it today either. I dragged myself to the spin class but was able to keep up with the instructor - barely. Since it's a nice warm, sunny day the class only had 2 other people. One tried to stand for a short time, the other not at all.

Today I am grateful for my loving and patient husband, for my good health, for living in the midst of gorgeous scenery!
Didn't get to my strength training yesterday afternoon, so did it all this morning. If the sun comes back out I may go for a power walk.
We'll be gone M - W next week so I'm going to do a workout at home (or outside) on Saturday and a long workout at the gym on Sunday while hub is at church and then doing his laps in the pool.

Edit: Confession: I got very weak and the brownies which kept screaming my name got an answer. Ate one late last night just before bed (and yes, you can eat them frozen). Today after lunch I just kept thinking about how incredibly good they taste, and I ate 4!!! Disgusting! The rest of them are now outside in the bin! All of them. They are my very favourite dessert and having them in the house is simply not possible, ever.

Another dreich, rainy day! England is getting perfect weather. Not fair! Next sunny day I plan to try to ride my bike up a very steep hill which is a few miles down the road from us. I've never been able to ride all the way to the top and I want to see if all the spinning and the strength I've built up in my legs will help me do it.

England got the warm, sunny temps today but we've got fog and drizzle. Arghh...
Back on track but next week we're going to do two overnights up in Inverness to see hub's grandson who is now 3 months old. There isn't enough room in the house for guests now so we're stayiing in a hotel. This means eating out for breakfasts and maybe dinner but we'll be at our usual Wetherspoons where I know what the calories are of every dish. So I have choices. There will be pints of beer as well, but I'll try to limit those. If the weather is nice we can walk on the beautiful trails along the River Ness.

Edited yesterday's entry but had even more wine afterwards and also a couple of small ginger biscuits I found in their cupboard and shared a packet of crisps with hubby. I'm not feeling extremely guilty as I've been doing quite intense workouts.
The B & B guests were Americans! It was an American expat and her Scottish husband who live in Aberdeen, and her parents who came for a visit from Georgia. The mother and I had both lived in Knoxville before! We had some good chats!
It's nice meeting people but I really don't like the work involved in doing this. Our friends' kitchen is too big and too disorganized. Glad I don't do the cooking but my poor hubby had to time the dishes to be done around the same time, although there were warming trays. Today was scrambled, poached, and fried eggs; sausages, bacon, black pudding, fried mushrooms and tomatoes, baked beans!! And I got to clean up the mess!

We're hosting our friends' B & B while they are away for the weekend (tonight and tomorrow for breakfast). And that means 'temptations'. Guests will want bacon, eggs, sausages. There will be lots of shortbread and cookies in the house as well, and wine. I will try very hard to resist what I shouldn't have!
I just love berry season! I buy lots of berries every time I shop. Today I picked up strawberries, blueberries & raspberries. Also some cherries and apples and the usual clementines, bananas, and grapefruit. My hub eats about 3 bananas a day (part chimp!) and has started eating a pink grapefruit every day. He only eats fruit for lunch unless we are out somewhere.

I got on a spin bike for the first time yesterday. Not as part of a class, but to do 10 minutes and see how it felt. I tried 3 seconds of standing up on the bike...I'm definitely not ready for that! I have to build up my strength. Good for you for getting in such an intense spin class.
RYC: Thanks for your concern--I do appreciate it! No chance of overdoing it here--I've always "listened" to my body. I think the key may be that I'm resisting the urge to "get back to X time of life" in favor of taking what I have now and working with it. So far, so good--guess time will tell! The 4-hr night was caffeine overDO--haha! Though it wasn't too funny at 3:45a when I was trying to bore myself to sleep with awful TV--yikes!
Well, the visit to the bereaved friends has been changed yet again - next week. So I took the brownies and wrapped each one and put them in freezer bags. Also froze the 3 remaining giant chocolate chips cookies. Big test for me, but I'm going to save these as evening treats. Each brownie is about 150 cals (because I added choc chips or walnuts). And these are not large brownies! Had some small chunks left in the bag equal to about 1/2 brownie and ate those so added them to my calories for today.
So I'll pick up some treats at the bakery on the day we visit them.

Really unhappy with myself for indulging so much yesteray. It was nonstop. I knew better than to bake my favourite dessert and should have just planned to pick up something from the bakery on the way to friends' house. Now the visit has been changed to tomorrow so the brownies and the rest of the cookies are sitting in my house. I've put them out of sight and I'm NOT touching them.
The scale is reflecting my indulgences and so are my clothes. So back on track now before it gets totally out of control.

I hear you on the sweets! I make full-fat (butter) oatmeal-date scones, though not in at least a month of sundays now. I've been known to eat the batch and nothing else. They're great with raspberry jam, but the irresistibility of them is right up there with homemade choc-chip cookies for me!
