Hiya ladies!  Thanks for your comments.

Spent all day shopping.  Came home with 3 bras - 1 is a sport bra, 1 converts to a strapless, and one is the same one I had fitted on me a couple of months ago but it's one cup size smaller.  I'm stuck with underwire as the bras w/o it for my cup size just did not work.  And I really don't want those pointy Madonna boobs.

Very few swimsuits were on display even though they were listed in their websites.  A clerk told me they'll be coming in soon.  Hope they come in time for Morocco.

I pigged out while in the city but don't feel guilty.  While trying on the bras I saw that I could afford an occasional splurge.

Workout:  walking, walking, walking from shop to shop!

Menu:

B:  porridge & blueberries, tea and milk

S:  1 medium sized chocolate chip/toffee cookie

L:  cheese and ham crepe, 1/2 packet of crisps, brownie (oink!!!!)

D:  perogies made by hubby, leftover curry

S:  ??

TOTAL:  don't know and don't want to

Progress as of today: 35 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

moogy on 01/11/2012:
I have a bra without an underwire, minimizer made by Berlei. I have a couple of DD's. Love your comment on your Total, yes, we all have days like those, fingers in ears singing la la la:) I am sure you will be on point today:)

biscottibody59 on 01/11/2012:
Sounds like a nice day altogether--I'd skip the calorie counts too--live a little--yeah!!!

V on 01/11/2012:
Great job with the bra shopping..I hope you will find a suit before your trip..Now that you have been measured, maybe you can find something on line? I am happy that you are coming to a place of comfort as far as that number on the scale..It can play major head games(speaking from experience) The storm wasn't as bad as expected once it reached land but it is very windy!! Have a good evening :)

Hi ladies!

Scale said 131 this morning.  I think I'm going to stick with 1300 cals today and go up to 1400 tomorrow and very gradually go up and see what happens.

I've discovered that the villa our friends booked for all of us for our Morocco trip for my birthday the end of Feb has a pool.  And I've got no suit!  I really don't want to order one online and have to return it.  And they aren't in the shops here yet.

My workout today is doing all the housework instead of doing bits and pieces of it throughout the week.

Menu:

B:  porridge & blueberries, tea with milk

L:  1 egg, polenta fried in 1 tsp oil

S:  yogurt, 2 clementines

D:  veggie curry & basmati rice, salad, drink

S:  apple, 1/2 Kit Kat

Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1304

Just got online to check out one of my favourite department stores and I see they are having a big sale.  Included are bras and swimsuits!  It's the train into Glasgow tomorrow for a shopping spree!  Woohoo!!

Progress as of today: 35 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

hollybelle on 01/10/2012:
Anybody going with you have an extra bathing suit your size? Or can you borrow one?? Any second hand stores have them there? You may not want to wear someone else's suit, but I probably would-just some ideas??? Anyway - I am not happy about housework being my exercise lately - but it will have to do. Where I was not at home for so long - the house is in bad order. I want to make sure I am not using it as an excuse to not do other things. I don't think so, because I would much rather be doing something else.

V on 01/10/2012:
Yayyy for a shopping spree :) I am sure that you will find a suit that looks PERFECT on you! Have a good day <3

LOL!! The muscles are getting pretty big, strong and defined, and i still have a bit more to go..Just like losing the weight these things take time and I have the time, dedication and will..I spent far too much time on getting to that number on the scale instead of putting the focus on what truly matters(going hard at my workouts) Thank you for all of your kind words of love and encouragement :)

Good day, lovely ladies!

I'm sure I've lost some muscle weight as the number on the scale seems lower than I feel I am.  My belly is not as small as it was and neither are my boobs.  So it's lower calories for a while.  Since I could not find bras that fit in the US I'm looking forward to going back to the John Lewis store to get re-measured.  I won't buy too many bras but at least one workout bra and one or two for everyday.

I'm happy with my yoga dvd as instructions are clear.  At the beginning of the dvd is an ad for a pilates dvd. Noticed some routines that look really effective.  It's a US dvd so would cost a lot to ship so I might just look on youtube for clips of a few of routines.

Workout:

  • 45 mins tae bo/jump rope
  • weights - 4 sets
  • lower body and abs - 4 sets (will ad ankle weights next time as my hip is now fine)

Menu:

  • B:  porridge & blueberries, tea with milk
  • L:  1 egg, polenta fried in 1 tsp oil
  • S:  2 clementines, grapes
  • D:  leftover bean/veg, potatoes, brussel sprouts, salad, drink
  • S:  single serve bag of caramel rice cakes, apple
  • Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1313

I'm looking forward to my birthday trip the end of Feb!  I think I'll drag out the clothes I'm going to bring there - capris, dresses, skirts.  There's nothing like trying on clothes to keep one motivated!

Progress as of today: 35 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

V on 01/09/2012:
Now that you are back to your regular workout routine, it will def help you firm the muscles up! make sure that you don't go too low Annie.. Have a wonderful day <3

Umpqua on 01/09/2012:
It's interesting how the whole muscle/fat thing works. I'm just starting to discover this myself and am needing to change a few things as I'm slowly replacing fat with muscle. Great exercise and food plan!

liza36 on 01/09/2012:
I never think to go to YouTube for exercise clips. That's a great idea. Have a great day, getting that muscle back!

Good Sunday, ladies!  Hope all is well.

My hubby is fine now, just a bit tired.

Scale said 131.6 this morning.    Nice, but I'm a bit suspicious that it could be muscle loss during nearly 4 weeks of no strength training.  But I'll up the calories to about 1400 for now and then experiment to find my daily calories for maintenance.

No workout today as I went shopping this morning and planned to do power walking this afternoon but it hasn't stopped raining. Checked out my yoga dvd and it looks very good.  Think I need to work on one posture at a time.

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  rice cakes, pbj on toast

S:  grapes & 2 clementines

D:  beans & rice, salad, drink

S:  1/2 Kit Kat, hot chocolate had 2nd half of Kit Kat instead

Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1412  1468

Progress as of today: 35 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

V on 01/08/2012:
Hey Annie :) What yoga DVD are you doing??

thinkpositive on 01/08/2012:
Wow good for you with your weigh in. No harm done over the holidays.

moogy on 01/08/2012:
Isn't it sad to think a short holiday could cause such muscle loss, surely not!!! Glad hubs is feeling better:) Sounds like a good plan to get one posture down at a time. I wish you good luck and no embarrassing falls out of position!!!! I do think yoga should be done with others or definitely in private! Ha Ha:)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/08/2012:
reading your foods made me smile because they sound ultra tasty for the taste buds! yum!

moogy on 01/08/2012:
I know I am a little biased but, I think Sydney Harbour is one of the most fantastic places to be in the world and never tire of going in to the city, plus the city itself is really nice. I love crossing it on a ferry, just beautiful with the bridge and the opera house, the grand houses on their private beaches. The fireworks are spectacular and absolutely worth the trip, how about getting on one of the many boats that go out for the trip, dinner and fireworks, spectacular:)

moogy on 01/08/2012:
If you fancy a boat trip on New Year's Eve you would have to get your husband's cousing to book early. The spots fill up early:) How about doing a Bridge Climb, I haven't done it but my husband and son have and said it was amazing. There are day and night time climbs, both with their delights:)

biscottibody59 on 01/09/2012:
I think it's entirely plausible that you lost a bit of muscle/strength--after about age 35 (for women) it gets increasingly harder to get and maintain. Getting back to the routine you established earlier will surely serve you well:-)

Hope you have a good week there!

Hi ladies!  Still knackered!  Didn't workout yesterday as I was too worn out with the laundry, unpacking, and lack of sleep.

We were invited to a friend's for dinner tonight but it looks like the stomach bug has caught up with hubby.

Workout (taking it slowly) but will be back to usual tomorrow:
  • 30 mins tae bo & jump rope
  • 3 sets of weights (instead of usual 4)
  • lower body exercises - (3 sets instead of 4)
Will check out my new yoga dvd this afternoon.  Gotta get back to meditation as well.

Menu:

B:  porridge & fresh blueberries (mmmm), milk, tea with milk

L:  1 egg, 1 slice low fat cheese on bread, grapes

S:  clementine

D:  beans, veg and rice, salad, drink

S:  1+ cup airpopped popcorn, diet pepsi (bad!)

Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1316

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 01/07/2012:
Sorry your hubby isn't feeling well, hopefully some rest will do you both some good. Looking forward to hearing about the yoga DVD!

V on 01/07/2012:
I hope your hubby feels better.. I bet you feel great resuming your workouts!! Have a good one Annie :)

biscottibody59 on 01/07/2012:
Just wondering if you could share a brand name of the oats/porridge you get over there. I know when I visited Nova Scotia a few years ago the oats I got in a restaurant were so much better than anything I'd ever had. That was before the "steel cut oats" craze of the last few years. And I've tried Bob's Red Mill brand of their Scottish oats--very nice.

The thing about the usual oats--even the "old-fashioned" is that they're already cooked--they're steamed in the process of making them, so cooking the daylights out of them is something I just don't do. For me it's convenient to have them most of the time, but I definitely like the texture of the more "whole" steel-cut type.

Hope you all recover from it all! Cheers!

thinkpositive on 01/07/2012:
Ilove the workd knackered! One of the women in my choir in S. is from Scotland & I love hearing her speak. Hope your husband feels better. Is it hard getting back? For muself the transitions are difficult- I just get used to being here & then have to go back to another life. I leave early on Wed. & then arrive in S. on Friday.Looks like you are back in your routine of healthy eating. I think we were experiencing the same problem with food with all of the eating out & festivities.

biscottibody59 on 01/07/2012:
Thanks--I'll be on the lookout. If not, I know there are some websites that sell international foods.

Well, it's nearly 7 am and I've been up since 4.30 and awake since about 3.30.  Hate the time change when coming back home! Hubby was awake as well so we both got up and had breakfast.  He went back to bed after about an hour though.  So I've had breakfast, started a loaf in the bread machine, put a load of laundry in.

Our electric is now full power!!

Thanks for all your comments!  I got on the scale this morning and it says 2 pounds less than yesterday morning - 133.6.  I've lowered my goal weight a pound as 132 feels good.  So that shouldn't take long.  I tried to buy new bras in the US but couldn't find any to fit! The clerks thought I was insane when I said my current bra is 32FF but I needed a 32F now.  No point in going to an expensive specialty shop as it would cost more than going back to John Lewis in the UK.  So when I hit 132 I'm getting refitted and will also get a new workout bra.  No more underwire though!

Plans for today are to finish unpacking and to do a workout.  Haven't done weights since I left so will get in a lighter workout.  Got a yoga dvd now so will also check that out.

We got an email while we were still in the states inviting us to dinner Saturday night.  It's with the couple who give you many courses and lots of wine.  I wish I'd said no to going this week as we really need to get back in our time zone first.  Hope we don't fall asleep at dinner!

Menu: (hmmm....since I had breakfast 3 hours earlier than normal I wonder if I can wait until after noon for lunch?!)

B:  porridge and blueberries (porridge tastes so much better here than the oatmeal in the US!)

Hungry!  Toast with marg and jam

L:  fried egg sandwich

S:  2 clementines

D:  salad, curry & rice, drink

S:  apple and hot chocolate

Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1296  1456

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!

V on 01/06/2012:
I am sure by next week you will be adjusted to the time change..Hey i think that you did wonderful maintaining during your holiday :)

getmebackto150 on 01/06/2012:

Yay!! for the weight drop and the electricity (that was pretty quick!). We have the same porridge here as in the UK, I love it on a cold morning, sticks to my ribs and warms me up:) I hope that the weekend provided you the opportunity to catch up on your sleep:)

Thanks for all your nice comments, ladies!    We are home! However, our area had 100mph winds the day before we arrived and a lot of damage has been done everywhere.  Power is out to about 20,000 people and ours was out when we arrived home.  It came on later but is still not at full voltage so things aren't working right.

Fortunately we have a gas fireplace in the living room so we did finally warm up and we have a gas hob on our cooker so were able to light it and cook.

Our roof has 84 year old heavy ceramic tiles on it and many blew of and broke, so now we're dealing with the insurance company and are in a long Q for an estimate behind all the others who had storm damage.  Sigh.

Don't remember what I ate yesterday at the airport or on the plane. This morning I had porridge and I need to go shopping but what I get is limited - no frozen, no yogurt, no lunchmeat as the fridge isn't at full power.

Got on scale this morning and it said 135.6 but with fluid fluctuations may not be accurate.  I'll do it again tomorrow morning.  I'm sure 2 -3 pounds is what I need to lose. Changing my goal weight (again!) to 132.

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

V on 01/05/2012:
Sorry about your roof :( Stay warm Annie <3

Glad you are home safe and sound. That's terrible about the damage to your home, and reduced power. Hopefully it's all resolved soon. I'm sure you've got fluid retention from the long flight. I always do. Have a good day!

Have a safe trip home :) We just had the high winds where I live (South-East England) and though we don't usually have many extreme stormy winds it was wild! It didn't help that it was pouring with rain as well... The worst only lasted a couple of minutes though and then it just decided to rain... and rain... and rain... and then it was extremely sunny and actually got pretty hot! The randomness of British weather... :) Anyway, Sorry because I've been babbling but I really do hope nothing too serious was harmed and have a good flight home :)

Uh oh.  Wasn't good last night.  I've become more and more indulgent the longer I've been here.  I needed to stop and remember the pleasure of trying on those smaller clothes.  Mexican food last night as my son's family was visiting brother's house after a basketball game.  I could have been good but wasn't.    Funny thing is I feel the weight gain in my boobs - not waistline.  My brother's scale says I was 135 first thing this morning but don't know how that compares to mine.  If it's accurate that's 2 pounds over my goal weight, although I was about 132 when we came and lost about 4 pounds when I was sick - although it was half fluid I'm sure.

I've eaten all the porridge so had 2 clementines and 1/2 banana this morning.  Time to stop being a pig!  I will have either a beer or glass of wine tonight after dinner as we leave tomorrow and I won't treat myself for at least 2 weeks.

Thursday morning I'll get on my scale at home and adjust the tracker as needed.

Never asked anyone to take a photo of me while we were here - I should have.  So I'll do an 'after' photo when we're home and get back to 133.

Hope all of you are doing fantastically!

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Happy new year ladies!  The longer we've been here the more I've indulged.  Yesterday I was good until after dinner.  Had a beer, a glass of wine, champagne, and some chocolate meant to be eaten with wine.

I've washed my gym clothes so don't intend to get on treadmill today. Tomorrow I'm meeting an internet friend for lunch.  We leave for home on Tuesday and although the new smaller clothes I bought when we arrived have not become tight on me, I feel I've got at least 2 or even 3 pounds extra.  So it's going to be 1300 cals per day for a couple of weeks at least.  No biggie!

Hope you all made it through the holidays without much 'damage'.

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
