I have absolutely no plans for today. No exercise. And no menu plans. My side/back still sore and I think it's from spending too much time in recliner with curled up and bad posture and also falling asleep on sofa.
I slept for 3 hours last night. Thought we were going to see other states called last night so we stayed up. Realized this morning it was a waste of time to stay up so late. Anyway, I hope we will be celebrating sometime today. And I hope my son is looking down from heaven (if there is one) and he will be happy with result. He and I were completely alike politically - same with other son and almost all of my family.
It was 7 months yesterday since I lost my precious son.
Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!
Feeling very positive about the election but not going to breathe easily until it's official.
I tweeted a photo of my son and asked those in my home state of MIchigan to vote in honor of my son. I can’t believe I got more than 10,000 likes and it was retweeted hundreds of times. And lots of heartfelt condolences. Made me cry! Such lovely people.
My side and back in the injury area is very achy and has been for a few days. Maybe the workout I did with dumbbells? Not sure if I’ll do any workout today. Still tired from my all nighter even though I got 9 hours sleep last night.
Enjoyed seeing my friend for her birthday yesterday. Had to sit on the deck and it was cold. So cold beer wasn't as welcome as normal. Next time I'll bring red wine which doesn't need to be chilled.
Ice cream is long gone, so are the Doritos, so are the Tunnocks Caramel Wafers. I didn't enjoy them as much as I thought I would.

For some reason, I thought you'd be drinking wine with your friend. I'm glad it didn't rain and you had the opportunity to visit together.
My friend only drinks wine so we usually share rose'. I brought her a bottle but I felt like continuing my beer drinking.
The husband has put up a deck cover so even if it rained we'd be dry. Nice. We're going to buy one for our patio for springtime.
I don't know what we are going to do this winter to visit our friends (2 couples). None of us want to go inside each others houses even though we should all be safe. But our friend (the wife) has advanced Parkinsons and she's very frail and in a wheelchair. Covid would be the end of her.
Wonderful we got Michigan! You and your beautiful boy helped! He is our special angel on high.
So many people said they would dedicate their vote in Michigan (and elsewhere) to my son. My favourite reply was that he was in heaven with people like John Lewis, Beau Biden, RBG and Elijah Cummings and others.
Stayed awake most of the night but fell asleep on the sofa for about an hour. I'm totally knackered! Ate too much crap but only had 3 beers spread out over many hours.
My friend’s birthday is today and if it doesn’t rain we are going to sit on their deck with a patio heater and share wine. After I’ve missed a night of sleep. Hmmm….. I’ll be walking the 1 mile there, not cycling! I bought her a big shawl.
No point in listing food/drink today. I expect to behave tomorrow but fully expect to have a beer or two or three as results are known in coming days/weeks - good or bad. Very early this morning I was chatting (Whatsapp and FB Messenger) with 3 people at the same time! Never managed that. One was our 'foster daughter' in Uganda, one was my American friend that also lives in Scotland, and the other was a former sis in law.
Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 17 lbs to go!
I hope you will have the opportunity to visit with your friend even if it means wine. Hang the calories! Blast the scale! Enjoy friends and good wine.
Glad you will spend some of today with a friend!
Started my election indulgences early - had beer last night.
I was interviewed by NPR last night about my son and our shared interest in politics. The producer found me through an NBC article from May who had found me through Twitter. When he asked how I was feeling about watching election returns without my son this election, I broke down. Interview ended right after that.
Picked up berries etc at 7am. Going to be up all night. Some say I’m nuts because we won’t know the election results for days or even weeks. Very interested in Senate races as well. And I’m also 5 hours ahead of EST. It’s a tradition I’ve been keeping since 2004. And I won’t be able to sleep at all. I’ve been a big news junkie since 2015. It is also treat night! And I won’t feel guilty. Always shared this night with my youngest son via videochat so this is going to be very hard. It’s already hard. Workout: Menu Total: Ahahahaha!
I'm on Twitter a LOT. I hit 3,503 followers today due to a tweet where I said Michigan - vote to honor my son and posted his photo wearing a Michigan hat. And I've gotten a massive response and tons of lovely condolences.
I remember the thrill of one election in particular where we were both ecstatic (2008 - and I was in Uganda and he called me).
I thought of you while watching the miniseries RoadKill last nite on PBS. I am a huge Hugh Laurie fan and since I knew him at first playing an American, the Brit accent amuses me. I love it. One reviewer said: no one plays a charming **** better than Laurie. Lol. Have to agree.
Heard Hugh learned his American accent watching our TV shows & movies. Loved House MD. Best medical drama ever.
i will say to you to also have the water, i think donkey said that to BCGG, and enjoy your election eve and night xoxoxoxo
More on backache conversations.....we lived in Uganda for 2 years (2007-09) and at first I had horrible back aches because I sat on a stool over plastic basins to hand wash all our laundry on the back porch. Then I cut the grass with a slasher (photos below) which meant bending over the entire time. And we were on a corner lot so lots of grass.
But after maybe a month or so I found I got a really strong back. No more backaches. People always say women in Africa do backbreaking work tending crops etc, but they actually don’t get backaches. They have strong backs.
No workout today as I’m going to collect the shopping at 10am instead of tomorrow. I’m switching days so I can pick up the rest of the shopping on Tuesday morning instead of Weds because I’ll have been up all night.
Grrrr...just got home from picking up shopping. Gave me strawberry soy milk which I never ordered and never would. Also gave me the wrong size bread. I eat a whole grain seeded bread of smaller slices at 92 cals each, they gave me the big one at 131 cals each. That's nearly 40 cals more per slice and 80 per sandwich!
I will TRY not to go overboard during all this election chaos but whichever way it goes I’ll feel inclined to drink beer and have a snack or two. Well, at least I’m not starting at my max weight of 171. I’ll have to work extra hard after this is all over.

They didn't charge me for the strawberry milk, they just put it in the wrong bag. Hubby will use it in his fruit smoothies. I guess I'll add bread to the list of things I pick up myself. Already do tomatoes and berries.
That's unfortunate about your groceries. I'm glad your husband will put the soy milk to use. Strawberry flavor isn't really my thing either, but I bet it would be good in a smoothie.
I was wondering if you'd consider having half sandwiches or opened faced with the thicker slices? You'd end up cutting calories.
We stay in Thailand for 3 months every winter and have done since 2014. Not this winter though.
So I've lived in 3 countries - US, Uganda, UK. And if you count Thailand - 4.
Back in the early 90's I was researching different spiritual paths and the one I was most attracted to was Native American and the attitudes about the land and killing animals for food etc. But then I read how many were angry at people hijacking their spirituality. Went for generic Pagan which I liked.
My husband retired as a headmaster. He had been physics teacher in the beginning of his career. He taught science and computers at the college in Uganda. We loved it there even with the inconveniences.
today while volunteering, there was a man there with "super-strength!" you wouldn't notice right away - you might take him as just a skinny man with a great metabolism. but on further notice, it's apparent he also exercises and does things to maintain is frame. i was able to take a good look at his arm (he was wearing some kind of athletic material long sleeve shirt that was tight on his arms, and he had muscles there. he was constantly bending over all morning to break boxes down or take things apart. he was constantly lifting heavy boxes of food and he was constantly in motion.
i actually said to him this morning, "if i had to do what you were doing, my back would be broken!" ....haha, relating back to the back issues everyone is going thru.
i am sure that man has been active for his life in its entirey (my guess is he is around 50-55yrs old!)
Weigh-in: 162 Was hoping for 159 by election.
On Oct 13th I was 165.4. On Sept 13th I weighed my highest ever: 171.
I know I will gain some of it back during the election so I’ll just have to make up for it with longer workouts and 3 or 4 1,000 cal days every week.
Next weigh-in Dec 1st.
Jacky asked about my citizenship and voting. I am a dual citizen with the US and UK. Got UK citizenship in 2007. So I have 2 passports and can also vote in both countries which I always do. I belong to a politcal party in each country.
Side and back are sore from the bookcase cleaning yesterday - too much bending and twisting. Not sure what housework I’ll do today but will not skip my workout. Planning on starting back on floor exercises and ankle weights next week.

I usually get some lower back pain after doing a lot of cleaning and bending. Guess I just need to bend more often!
Dusting and wiping are better, because I can switch hands - if I remember before it's too late. Do be careful with your back muscles when working with upper body weights. Perhaps it will be good to warm them up and work out the tightness from cleaning.
Good weigh-in goals, too!
I felt fine doing the 2kg weights for the harder upper body routines and also only did 3 sets of 5 instead of 10. So I don't think I did any damage. And good stretches afterward. Also do the spin bike before muscle work.
Was extra hungry yesterday, so had rice with my curry and 2 more packets of popcorn. Not too bad - less than 1400 calories for the day.
Heavy housework day. No workout. Did the bookcases. Normally just use a feather duster but I took all the books and souvenirs off the shelves and dusted everything. Washed kitchen and laundry room floors. Didn’t clean the bathrooms and doubt I will. I’m knackered! Menu: Total: 1086
The upper kitchen cupboards have glass windows in them. I just use a wet rag on them and then dry them well.
Got a long winter at home ahead of us and I will slowly get everything done.
Probably clean out kitchen drawer(s) and/or cupboard(s).
2kg/4.4lb weights will arrive today.

Hate that we have to miss our winter in Thailand. It would do a lot to help my soul. One photo from last year. One of my favourite beach bars - sitting on beanbags and drinking cold beer. I take lots of bare foot photos.
I love your foot photo! Do you wear toe rings? Or maybe little toe hats for these photo ops. That background is so beautiful. I can only imagine the smell of the ocean, hearing the waves, feeling the warm breeze. Aah....
No toe rings. I've only painted my toenails once for these photos. I could get a pedicure very cheap there.
My favourite is Thai Green Curry.
i think when covid is (hopefully next year) over, I would like to take a trip to thailand...and i have a friend (my friend from france), that i'd like to invite to go with me - we are planning another trip...
...obviously i need a stable job, so, perhaps in two years for my 40th bday hoping all is back and stable in the world :)...maybe not! maybe i will not be traveling so soon! who know! it's always nice to hope <3
Cleaning out and re-organizing the pantry in the kitchen. Husband keeps ordering new Thai food ingredients online so need to organize those.

I think I'd rather re-organize the pantry or spice cupboard :-/
how nice to have cereal with RASPBERRIES. raspberries were so BAD this summer here in Queens. they didn't taste good, ever, and were mostly always containing some rotten ones in the mix. Just bad quality.
I have of course had good raspberries. but, it's been a LONG time.
We usually have very good raspberries and strawberries. I always pick up 2 packs each of raspberries, strawberries, blueberries and one extra of one of them so we can have a pack every day. I pour the milk on my porridge first then add the berries on top.
7am trip to supermarket to pick up berries, chilis and a couple of things that weren't online. Almost nobody there except for all the staff doing the home delivery and click and collect shopping and staff stocking shelves.

Your workouts are coming along fine! We're you able to ride your bike outdoors over the weekend?
Loving the spinner! Great workout.

Bless your heart, Annie, and I know it has been a very long 7 months of grief for your sweet Son. If he was anything like his Mama, I know he was a very sweet person!
Thanks, Maria. Yes he was very sweet.
Maria7 on 11/07/2020:
Looks like we have a new President, Annie.
I am thrilled!
Horn_of_plenty on 11/07/2020:
I'm sure your son is looking down, like Maria says. ;)
Although I'm not religious I like the idea of him sitting beside John Lewis, RBG and others smiling at the results.
