Going to add 200 calories to my weekly allowance starting Sunday - 8600.
A friend keeps asking me to go to an outdoor cafe to have coffee and scone or cake. I’ll see if I can resist and just have coffee or tea. It’s in the low to mid 50’s so a bit chilly for sitting outside, but I’ll see. At least it’s sunny.
I might do 30 minutes on the exercise bike today. I won't lean on the handlebars though as I'm sure that's why I had all that pain yesterday.
Total: 1152 (1231 remaining for the week)
Progress as of today: 1.8 lbs lost so far, only 24.2 lbs to go!
Friends dropped by to show us their new wheelchair-friendly vehicle. So they stayed for drinks sitting outside. And I shared most of a bottle of rose’ with the wife. So that throws my calories off. There goes my pb and honey sandwich I was planning on sometime this week. I really should have given the wife the wine and had her take the rest of the bottle home. And I could have had something else. Next time.
Did a total of 60 mins on the exercise bike yesterday in two sets and will do the same today. I’m really anxious to get back to muscle work but I don’t dare until I’m totally pain free.
It feels like I'm wearing a corset which is way too tight. Not sure why. I haven't had that kind of pain for a couple of weeks. Rest day.
If anyone is interested in trying Thai dishes (not just curries) this woman gives excellent tips and recipes:

Our trees are just starting to turn colour here but when they do I'll share some photos. But here's a sunrise from earlier this week taken from our front porch.
Progress as of today: 1.8 lbs lost so far, only 24.2 lbs to go!
She has tons and tons of videos and she's really good at teaching.
What to say about the wine... well, and this is just my opinion, I think it's worth it, if you had a good visit with your friend. Could you plan the remainder of your calipers for the week, per day, so that you can keep an overage to a limit or minimum?
I've decided to increase my limit by 200 calories a week. I guess it won't be a big deal if I should go over occasionally but not routinely.
i am having thai takeout tonight because of a REALLY great coupon! by doing pickup, there's some really extraordinary coupons that i keep getting in my email!
um, that nice you got to see friends and enjoy the time outside and with a rose! You can still have your pb and honey later this week...enjoy yourself :)
Yesterday I planned to do 30 mins exercise bike, clean the bathrooms, then 30 more minutes. However, as this was the first time I’ve scrubbed the tub since getting injured, I got lower back pain from all that bending (not the injured part), so didn’t do the second set.
I’ll do 2 sets today. No houswork. Did 30 mins, then some laundry and came back and did 30 more. Felt like a really good workout doing a total of 60 mins.
I’m attaching photos of two choices for female-friendly bike seats. I’ve got one similar to the wider one on my bike in Thailand. Many bike seats don’t cause butt pain, they cause pain elsewhere, IYKWIM. I know many women who say they don’t like to bike ride because of discomfort due to the seat.
Total: 1093 (3887 left of the week)
Progress as of today: 1.8 lbs lost so far, only 24.2 lbs to go!
The bike ride afterwards - did that help your back pain? I'm thinking that's something I should consider for myself in the future...
I know what you mean about the bicycle seat, lol...
Hubby has a male saddle!
Butt pain is something that will get better as you ride more frequently - same as me right now with getting back on my bike at home. My seat is horrible though, and I would trade with your #2 choice any day! I guess I should look into that LOL.
nice seats. i don't have anything to add since i'm not to familiar with all the types of bike seats / styles out there but legs would have good input for you!
nice job on getting back into exercise! remember when this was far from your mind!?!?!?!?
I actually ride my real bike for pleasure, not exercise. Exercise is just an extra benefit.
Did 30 minutes on exercise bike yesterday. After 30 minutes this seat gets too painful. I might try doing it twice as I have before. I need to clean the bathrooms today, so might do bike, then clean, then do bike again.
Today is pick up groceries day - my adventure for the week. Ordered online and just have to pick them up.
Total: 1177 (4980 remaining for the week)
Progress as of today: 1.8 lbs lost so far, only 24.2 lbs to go!
My sister lives in the US and she says she has to pay for delivery. She is surprised it is free here.
Been a long time since I had a pet but I know pet food adds up quickly!
I've mentioned the pickup option to husband, especially for Walmart, but he says orders are like a week out. Not sure if he's checked recently...
I ordered delivery when they first started it here but then decided I should leave those slots for those without a car and the elderly. Pickup is just as safe. I never tried to start my order the day before so don't know if the slots are full by then. I usually start my order on Friday for Tues pickup and edit it about 4 or 5 times!
I'm getting spoiled by click and collect. But I would prefer to choose my own mushrooms and berries and tomatoes.
Didn't get on exercise bike yesterday but did a very thorough cleaning of living/dining room, kitchen and laundry room. So I felt like I did a workout! Will do 30 mins on exercise bike today.
There is a possibility we can go to Thailand this winter. In October the Thai government will decide if they will allow a certain number of tourists who plan to stay for at least 90 days (we always do 90 days and our usual house is booked for Jan to Mar). You have to have a Covid test that is negative, and quarantine for 14 days on arrival in an approved facility. You can’t leave your hotel room for 7 days and then must stay on the hotel grounds. This would mean wearing a mask on the plane and you can take off only to eat/drink.
I hate the idea of staying here in winter. We get little or no snow but it feels very cold as we get high winds, cold rain, and the days are very, very short. We haven’t been here an entire winter since 2012.
B: porridge w/berries, tea w/soy
S: coffee w/coconut milk
L: 6 veg salad, chicken breast, cheddar
D: a curry with eggs? Burmese curry made with black beans, veg and topped with poached eggs
S: packet of popcorn, spicy hot chocolate (one brand I bought is really good the other will blow your head off!)
Drinks: diet tonic, or iced tea, or low cal fruit drink, lots of water, occasional diet pop, tea
Total: 1206 (6157 remaining for the week)
Progress as of today: 1.8 lbs lost so far, only 10.2 lbs to go!
When you're ready for a bike ride, you'll know it. It's coming soon! Yay!
I'm nervous about getting on my real bike!
Yes, Thailand is our winter home and I hate to miss it!
Saw article in Washington Post re Thailand officials mailing trash left at National parks back to the littering ppl. And hefty fines. Weird how they know who left it.
I hate people who litter! They should be given huge fines.
when i clean the shower, oh, it's a workout for sure!
Had a lovely afternoon yesterday with 2 couples - socially distant. Brought wine for me and beer for hubby and I always bring a bottle of wine for our hostess.
Doubt we’ll get another sunny and warm weekend like this so no idea when I’ll have alcohol again. Not riding my bike yet so I walked about 1.5 miles roundtrip to their house.
Starting my weekly calorie allowance like Bear does. I figure that 8,400 is good (averaging 1,000 x 3 days, 1200 x 2 days, 1500 x 2 days).
Weight this morning: 169.2 (up from Friday)
Exercise bike this afternoon. No muscle work until I am pain free. Getting close. Doing housework today while hubby is outside cutting the grass and trimming.
Progress as of today: 1.8 lbs lost so far, only 10.2 lbs to go!
I hope your ride on the exercise bike is pain-free and enjoyable. See, you're making steps towards a full recover. That's wonderful! I do agree with you though, no workout unless pain-free. ABSOLUTELY.
That's rather sobering to think that you may not have another warm-ish weekend until next Spring. Winter is coming!
Gorgeous day yesterday (and today). Hubby went out kayaking from in front of our house and got some nice photos that I’m sharing here. I didn’t walk but wandered outdoors for a while to enjoy the sun and did exercise bike for 30 mins.
Upper 60’s and sunny today. So we are visiting friends outdoors for a 'cocktail party'. I'll bring wine. No snacks.
Progress as of today: 2.6 lbs lost so far, only 9.4 lbs to go!
(Do you ever have to worry about your house flooding? That's my greatest fear about living near water.)
The cocktail party sounds lovely! Very spirit- lifting! (No pun intended)
Had a great afternoon. Another couple came that we hadn't seen in a while. She's American and he's English and they live just down the road.
also, 30 minutes on the bike already!? go you!!!!
I was curious so got on the scale this morning. Lost 2.6 lbs since Sunday! Some will be water weight of course, but that's okay. I will weigh myself again on Sunday morning.
Went for a walk yesterday - 3 miles. It was a gorgeous day and I stopped and took a photo.
Tomorrow is to be upper 60's and sunny so I hope to get together with friends for a garden gathering. That means wine or beer (only time I make an exception to my no alcohol rule). But I’ll be starting my weekly calorie allowance on Sunday.

When I was in Saudi Arabia, I remember it getting light very early too, made it hard to sleep late on the days I actually could.
We have very dark drapes in our bedroom to clock out the sun. Otherwise it will hit us right in the eyes about 4:30ish.
My new recliner got delivered yesterday instead of today! I can sit in it without pain in my back (as long as I don't turn to left to talk to hubby), so I can give up sitting in the dining room chair!
Got my ballot by email yesterday, so I’m going to mail it this morning. Hope the USPS is working well enough to get it there before Nov 3rd! Used to take a week from UK to US. But not now.
I found a goal. I always use upcoming trips to motivate me to lose but no idea when our next trip is. So I’m going to use Nov 3rd. I always stay up all night for big elections - both US and UK. It’s also a good excuse to have forbidden snacks and beer. So that’s just less than 7 weeks. It’s very reasonable to have under 160 as a goal.
I’ll do 30 minutes on the exercise bike again. I can attach my kindle to the display with rubber bands so I can read while doing it. I did 35 minutes yesterday because I wanted to get to the end of a chapter.
It is so sunny and mild out I think I'll walk after lunch instead. I've got the book I'm reading on Audible as well, so I'll begin where I left off while I walk!
Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 12 lbs to go!
How nice to have the recliner! I'm glad it brings you much relief.
Good goal too!
Yes, motivation!
also, your breakfast sounds delish with the berries :)
I miss toast but porridge and berries is yummy and sticks to the ribs!
Something I sent in May too more than a month to arrive and I sent it track and trace. So I sent this regular international mail and I have well over a month, so should be fine.
Getting on exercise bike today - shouldn't cause any pain but if it does I'll stop. If the sun comes out I might also go for a walk. I won't try any muscle work until I'm pain free for a few days.
Edit: Did 35 minutes on the bike - no problem. I don't hold on to the handles anyway.
Recliner is being delivered tomorrow so I’ll put the chair and footstool that it’s replacing in the guest room for now. Or I’ll get hubby to.
I picked up our groceries yesterday and when I unpacked them found 2 packs of pig kidneys that I definitely had not ordered. We weren’t charged for them either, so got someone else’s. Wasn’t going to drive all the way back to town, so hubby cooked them to put in a curry today. He liked it, but when he gave me a taste I spit it out in the trash. Yuck! I told him I won’t eat any curry he puts it in so he’ll figure out how to have it in just his and not mine.
Edit: Husband took the kidneys to the beach and fed the seagulls. I could hear them! They were very happy!
B: porridge and berries, tea w/soy
S: coffee w/coconut milk
L: 6 veg salad w/chicken breast and cheddar, clementine
D: veg and chicken curry (without kidneys!)
S: pack of popcorn
Drinks: diet tonic, or iced tea, or low cal fruit drink, lots of water, occasional diet pop, tea
Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 26 lbs to go!
i'm glad something enjoyed them!
Great job on the bike!
I'm planning to get out soon also...walking to the close-by pharmacy!
I'll walk if the sun comes out.

maybe you can split the scone with her? ha! maybe have multiple teas if you need it!!! :) it's so hard! is there a fruit option to have???
That's a good idea. Or could just have a cookie. I'd have to ignore those gorgeous homemade cakes they have.

I have a hard time going into or past bakeries without temptation getting the best of me!
Just the smell drives me nuts!
Donkey on 09/25/2020:
Oh, scones!!!! I cannot understand how something so simple as a scone can be SO high in calories.
A real British scone does not have sugar on it like in the US. It does have some fat in it and of course must be lathered in real butter, maybe cream, and jam.
Ingredients 2 c unbleached all-purpose flour 2 Tbsp sugar 4 tsp baking powder ½ tsp salt 3 Tbsp unsalted butter , cold ⅔ c milk 1 egg yolk beaten with 1 Tbsp milk (to glaze) Strawberry jam (to serve) Clotted cream , at room temerature (to serve)
BBC listed the ingredients in American measurements as it was meant for Americans wanted the real thing.
We never use cups here as measurement - we'd use ml.
