(Low cal - moderate carbs - cardio and muscle work)
Weight: 0.0

Got living/dining room deep cleaned yesterday - top to bottom. Shampooed ½ of carpet after dinner, then moving furniture back and doing other half when it’s dry. All the small furniture have been moved to the guest room.

Worked hard yesterday so felt I deserved a gin and diet tonic with lime.  Still under 1200 calories.

Menu

B: yogurt w/extra raspberries, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa & cranberry bar

L:  6 veg salad w/turkey, cheddar, 2 clementines

D: stir fried prawn/veggies, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

Total:  1006

Edit:  my floor fan broke and I can NOT workout in a room that isn't cool or cold.  I'll try to do just do the dumbbells, maybe abs.  I've ordered a fan which will be here the end of next week.  I guess on Mon when I go to the gym I'll use their dumbbells and floor mat.

Home muscle workout:  3 sets of 5 or 10 (sets of 5 for those that target shoulders)

Lunges & squats using dumbbells

Upper body weights - only 3kg - (shoulder injury)

Abs

Planks

thigh/bum exercises with ankle weights

You definately got a workout with the housework alone!!!

grannyannie on 10/25/2019:
Yes, getting serious workouts!! And something to show for it!

legcramps on 10/25/2019:
Agreed - the housework probably burned some calories!

grannyannie on 10/25/2019:
It did. This was a muscle building day though, but I can do it at the gym on Monday instead before I go into the city to spend the night.

happy-1 on 10/26/2019:
Your stamina is awesome. I do a chore, fall over. Do another chore, fall over... What’s your secret?

I finished off the bottle of wine last night - less than half a bottle.  It would have gone off if I’d kept it since it was rose’. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

Husband had a nice flight to Dubai, then a 5 hour sleep before his second flight. He’s in the middle of his 14 hour flight right now. Oh, and he said they are still serving complimentary spirits!  I’m still bringing my wee bottles though.

Gym then grocery shopping. Then work begins! Deep cleaning the living/dining room, then shampooing carpet ½ the room at a time.

Oh, I wore a pair of my size 10’s yesterday.  Snug but not painful. Yes!

Menu

B: porridge w/berries, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa & peanut bar

L:  6 veg salad w/turkey & cheddar

D: stir fried prawn/veggies, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

Total:  1058

Gym: drove into town instead of taking the bus so I could shop, so time for longer workout at the gym because I don’t need to think about bus schedule.  So I did 55 mins cardio and 2 sets on the leg press.

treadmill - (intervals uphill and speed) - 15 mins

elliptical - 10 mins

rowing machine - 10 mins

recumbent bike -  20 mins

Leg press (22.5kg) - 6 sets of 10

BearCountryGG on 10/24/2019:
Good job getting back into those 10's!!!! I'm looking forward to those 10's too....just not there yet for me though!!

grannyannie on 10/24/2019:
Feeling smaller even with - of course - going off the diet due to the stress of our loss.

I'm confident that the 10's will have plenty of room by the time we go abroad.

legcramps on 10/24/2019:
Nice job on your gym workout!

grannyannie on 10/24/2019:
Felt energetic so took advantage of it! I was soaked in sweat when I finished. More than usual.

Going with husband to the airport. He’s going to visit his brother in Australia and will arrive back home 3 weeks from today.  It was decided it would be better for him to be with his other brother in Australia than changing complicated plans and staying here for the funeral. I will be going. (The widow agrees).

Next year the plan is for us to go together to Australia early November then go from there to Thailand.

My new glasses are finally ready so I’ll pick them up in Glasgow after the airport.

Menu

B: soy yogurt w/berries, tea w/soy milk

L:  Glasgow

D: leftover veg/chickpeas and Quorn curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

Total:  ?

I'm so sorry for your loss! I did not have the opportunity to log in yesterday, but when I read yesterday's news, my heart just went out to you and your husband. I'm so sorry (((hugs))).

Safe travels for your husband and I hope you enjoy your new glasses. I wear contacts and glasses so I know how wonderful that feels.

grannyannie on 10/23/2019:
Thank you. Very sad. I love all of my husband's family which is huge. There are now only 2 brothers left of 5. He is the oldest of 29 cousins! I'm glad he went to Australia to be with his other brother, but I will find it difficult to go to the funeral without him.

Husband flight is now over Poland. And I like my new glasses. The fit is very comfortable. I can't do contacts though because of my dry eyes.

BearCountryGG on 10/23/2019:
I'm glad to see that you guys figured out how to handle the loss of your brother in law. I'm sure his wife will be comforted by having you there with her. As the years go by....we are also losing so many family and friends and it's hard to sometimes know how to handle things.....your plans for next year sound like a new interesting way to make your trip different.....enjoy your next few days off and pamper yourself a bit.

grannyannie on 10/23/2019:
Thanks! Got hard work ahead of me but it will be satisfying and distracting. So many deaths in husband's family lately. It's like every time sometime dies it's like a punch in the gut. I get so emotional at funerals. I've been in Scotland almost 20 years and I really love his family! So it's hard to lose them.

Yes, my sis in law in Oz is thrilled that I'll finally come too! She and I are a very, very bad influence on each other, so I'll need to be skinny when I go!

Hugs <3... I am so sorry for your loss. The idea that we all meet up again in Valhalla is getting me through. I think I will see everyone, everything and every animal I have ever loved there.

grannyannie on 10/24/2019:
Thank you. Valhalla sounds nice. I have no idea what happens to us after death, but it's nice to think we do see those we've lost again.

We were headed to bed last night when I got a phone call telling us husband's brother had died. Unexpected but thought it would happen within the next year.  So husband and I couldn't sleep after that so we stayed up and husband had quite a few beers, and I had more than half a bottle of wine.

Went to visit the widow today and she's holding up. Husband decided not to cancel his trip to Australia which is booked for tomorrow, and the widow agreed that it would be good for the remaining 2 brothers to be together.  So he'll go to Oz and I'll go to the funeral next week.

On the way home we picked up a couple of big bottles of beer.  But I'll behave when husband is gone.

innerpeace on 10/22/2019:
Sorry for your loss. I'm glad your husband decided to continue on his planned trip. You would be such a good representative at the funeral.

grannyannie on 10/22/2019:
Thanks. We debated late last night about what he should do, and we agree this is best. His brother in Australia is devastated.

BearCountryGG on 10/22/2019:
Sad for your families loss.

grannyannie on 10/22/2019:
Thank you. I will miss him terribly.

Can’t go to the gym again this week (at the early morning time I prefer) until Thursday. Tomorrow morning I have an appt at the doctors to get routine blood work. Then Weds I am accompanying husband to the airport then picking up new glasses in the city.  So Thursday is gym and then Friday I’ll start shampooing living room carpets after deep cleaning and moving the furniture around. That will be a workout in itself.

Menu

B: soy yogurt w/berries, tea w/soy milk

S: black coffee and quinoa/cranberry bar at gym

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino

L:  6 veg salad w/turkey & cheddar

D: veg/chickpeas and Quorn curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

S: blanched almonds

Total:  1046

Gym:

treadmill - (intervals uphill and speed) - 10 mins

elliptical - 10 mins

rowing machine - 10 mins

recumbent bike -  15 mins

Leg press (22.5kg) - 3 sets of 10

Donkey on 10/21/2019:
Sometimes life gets in the way, but I completely agree with carpet cleaning being a workout in itself. You are having active days anyway, even if you're not at the gym, which is good.

grannyannie on 10/21/2019:
Deep cleaning a room and shampooing carpets is very active. And I have to keep emptying and refilling the shampooer.

BearCountryGG on 10/21/2019:
Yes that is a workout!!! Gwetting things done serves 2 purposes.....with a clean home as an extra reward.

grannyannie on 10/21/2019:
Yes, and being so busy I only think about food when my stomach growls!

Already thinking about packing even though it’s 6 weeks before we leave.  We have discovered that our airline - Emirates - no longer offers spirits in economy class, only beer and wine.  And hubby and I really enjoy having gin and tonics on long haul flights - makes it easier to sit still for so long. He also likes a whisky.  So he’s about to fly to Australia on Weds - one of his flights is 14 hours long! We have ordered packs of single serve whisky and gin and we can carry 2 or 3 in our liquids bag.

Menu

B: porridge w/berries, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa/peanut bar

L:  6 veg salad w/turkey & cheddar

D: chickpea/veg and Quorn curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

Total:  1051

#priorities

I feel the same way about coffee. Good that you know in advance so that you can plan. Imagine if you DIDN'T know and only found this out when you were already on your way!

grannyannie on 10/20/2019:
I would have been very annoyed to get on the plane and find out no gin! Hubby just happened to learn about it when reading something in the news. Wine in economy class generally tastes like vinegar to me, even on Emirates (excellent wine in Business Class), and their beer is normally Heineken which I hate.

Our flights are 7 hours to Dubai, then stay in hotel overnight, then nearly 7 more hours to Bangkok. I've managed 3 bottles of double shots in my liquids bag (had to sacrifice mouthwash). I drink a LOT on flights - lots of water, coffee, tea, juice and alcohol.

Final flight is just over an hour, so no problem.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/20/2019:
lol, it's good you know about that new alcohol provision!

grannyannie on 10/20/2019:
Yes! Wouldn't like to be surprised!

Finished washing the outside of the cupboards and drawers in the kitchen yesterday. Wondering why we chose off white!  Oh right, because it’s a small kitchen with a north facing window. I’ll start wiping out and reorganising inside them today.

Higher calorie day today.  Going to weight myself the morning husband leaves (Weds) then put the scale away somewhere.  I won't get it until the day he comes home.

Menu

B: porridge w/berries, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa/cocoa/cashew bar

L:  3 egg omelette and cheddar

S:  salad w/mixed seeds

D: veg and chicken curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

S: blanched almonds, 1 gin and diet tonic

Total:  1484

Home muscle workout:  3 sets of 5 or 10 (sets of 5 for those that target shoulders)

Lunges & squats using dumbbells

Upper body weights - only 3kg - (shoulder injury)

Abs

Planks

thigh/bum exercises with ankle weights

Horn_of_plenty on 10/19/2019:
so you took everything out in order to wash right!? do you do one, then put the stuff back....and that's the way, right!? sounds like a lot of good work!

grannyannie on 10/19/2019:
I usually do the inside of the cupboards first - taking everything out, wiping inside down and then rearranging if needed. But this time I washed the outside doors of the cupboards and the glass panels as I wanted to be sure this was done.

I'm sure my glasses and mugs are reproducing in there!!

Horn_of_plenty on 10/19/2019:
but you do one at a time and put those items back before going to the next cupboard right!?

Donkey on 10/20/2019:
My co-worker, Mistakes Girl, just painted her kitchen white - I wonder if she knows what she's in for! It looks lovely, but yeah, need to keep it clean.

6 weeks from tomorrow we begin our journey to Thailand. I have a scale in our house in Thailand, but I might just leave it in the storage crate - although hubby likes to keep an eye on his weight. He is thin with just a small belly from beer, but his belly size can change with beer consumption.

Menu

B: porridge w/berries, tea w/soy milk

S:  black coffee and quinoa/cranberry bar at gym after worktout

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino

L:  salad w/turkey & cheddar

D: cauliflower, veg and chicken curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

S: blanched almonds

Total:  1091

have you ever thought to add a mint leaf to your diet tonic? like a mojito?

grannyannie on 10/19/2019:
That sounds nice. I do fresh lemon and lime and the tonic is lime flavoured anyway. Might try mint just for a change.

Husband leaves for Australia in 6 days to visit his brother and I intend to make a lot of progress while he is gone (3 weeks). Got lots of projects and deep cleaning to keep me busy. Also plan to keep myself from being tempted with snacking in the evening by going to bed early with a book and a cuppa tea. I do have the weekend in the city where I will do some indulging - but no sweets, no snacking. And a LOT of walking.

I’ll also get my suitcase down from the loft when I get the carpet shampooer and start packing for Thailand. I’m not a last minute person!

Menu

B: soy yogurt w/berries, tea w/soy milk

Teeth cleaning and check up this morning (I love universal health care! Cost is £10.50). Then the gym afterward.

Don’t know which scale to trust - the doctor’s or mine. Mine said 157 this morning.  I liked 154 with shoes on better! Oh well. I've got 6 1/2 weeks and I've got to be under 150! I intend to behave after we arrive in Thailand. The biggest issue is that I love a cold beer while sitting on a beach, and my weekly Mai Tai. I will have to give myself an allowance of maybe 4 small beers a week, and 1 cocktail? Ice cream once every 2 weeks?

Menu

B: soy yogurt w/berries, tea w/soy milk

Maria7 on 10/16/2019:
3 lbs in 12 days is still good! You are doing fantastic on reaching your goal! You are doing better than I...I have been giving in to ice cream lately...over maintain calories...and eating at nite, a no-no for sure for me. Trying to not regain and hold on to what I have achieved. Hoping you are having a good day. Love, Maria

grannyannie on 10/16/2019:
Thanks! I am determined this time. I won't hit goal but I intend to while we are there for the winter. I just ordered a new orange bikini online. It is rare to someone wear a one piece in Thailand, so a flat belly is not required! You're doing great on maintenance!

Donkey on 10/16/2019:
I echo what Maria has said. You are doing quite well! You have the advantage of having a definitive time-goal. I have goals but no set time-frame, so... sometimes the motivation isn't always there.

grannyannie on 10/16/2019:
Thanks! It is easier to get motivated when it's something specific at a set time.

BearCountryGG on 10/16/2019:
Scales are fickle that way...they really only give a snpshot of a moment in time and they all vary from one another...a good reason to not take tme too seriously. Clothes tell me more.

grannyannie on 10/16/2019:
True. Clothes do tell more. I've no doubt I'll fit into my 10's well before Thailand. So I'll have the 3 pairs of 10's and the 1 pair of 12's which all zip off to become shorts.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 10/16/2019:
allowances are great....no need to deny yourself everything! i support allowances 100%

grannyannie on 10/17/2019:
Yes, we definitely need a bit of cheating or we just totally give up with frustration.
