Hiya girls!

Quick check in.  Hanging out in Glasgow till it's time for the airport bus. So far no flight cancellations.  Forecast for the strong winds to hit here are early evening, after our flight has gone.  Crossing fingers.

Only had one pint of beer last night, but did have a veggie burger and chips (fries) instead of the noodles and chicken.  Not too bad.

Pancakes and meaty bacon for breakfast, having the sweet chili noodles for lunch w/o the chicken.  Got two oat bars, a packet of dried apricots, and a biggish chocolate star for the flights.

Dinner will probably be a sandwich from the airport in Amsterdam.

Have a good week!

Thanks for your comments, ladies!  Arrived in Amsterdam.  No problems.  In the hotel and our flight to Michigan is tomorrow morning.  Had a ham and cheese roll, and a cheese roll, and a bottle of Amstel light which was only 75 calories!  Of course, it tasted like watery beer!  Oh and a beer at the airport.

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Greetings lovely ladies!    Hope you all are well and healthy and have a great week!

Leaving this morning for a Glasgow hotel in order to beat the high winds tomorrow which could cancel our ferry. Crossing all my fingers and toes that our flight on Tuesday isn't affected!  Tuesday night in Amsterdam then on to my grandbabies!

This is the last day I'll know my total calorie count and from then on it's up to my judgement.  My goal weight was 135, then I lowered it to 133 so I'd have 2 pounds credit for my trip.  I was 130.8 this morning.  I think I am more comfortable at 133 though and 135 will be my max weight.

Never without internet for long, so I'll be keeping in touch and hoping there won't be too many confessions!

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  pbj sandwich, yogurt, 2 clementines

D:  restaurant:  sweet chili noodles & chicken breast, 1 pint beer

TOTAL:  1519  (ok, I'll probably have 2 pints - so maybe 1704)

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

V on 12/12/2011:
Hey! I am sure you are beyond excited for the trip! As far as calories, I am sure you will do fine with guesstimations..You will do just fine just have fun okay??

Good Sunday, girls!  All packed and ready to go, well, 98% anyway.

High winds possible on Tues, the day of our flight.  Hubby and I are heading over to Glasgow tomorrow and staying the night in a hotel. Ferries get cancelled in high winds and we don't want to be stuck.  Hoping the flight doesn't get cancelled!!!

I've done my weights, abs, lower body toning, and 10 minutes on the exercise bike.  But I'll try to get back on the bike later.

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  veggie chili, yogurt

S:  3 clementines

D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink

S:  latte (and one bite sized cadbury)

TOTAL:  1339 1394

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Greetings, ladies!  All ready for the holidays?

The snow we got yesterday is now nearly melted.  No winds.  But forecast to get high winds on Tuesday, the day of our flight!!!  Yikes! So I've been busy today getting things ready in case we go over to Glasgow on Monday and stay in a hotel instead of going on Tuesday (in case of cancelled ferries).

Nearly done packing.  I have an audiobook to download tomorrow.  Fridge/freezer cleaned out and will shut it off. Got my earrings and rings cleaned.  Washed my gym shoes so they don't stink up my suitcase!  LOL.  I like to come home to a clean house so cleaning and tidying as well.

Will get on my bike later this afternoon.  Wanted to get things ticked off my packing and to do list.

Thought I'd post a warmer photo today!  June 2007 on a beach about 20 miles from us.

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  2 toast and pbj, yogurt

S:  2 clementines

D:  2 chicken thighs and 1 drumstick, no skin, potatoes, peas, brussel sprouts, salad, drink (rarely have BBQ chicken any more and it was just too good not to eat it all, with the skin!)

Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1347 (but might also have a glass of wine - 130 cals)  approx 1650ish

Haven't done my stats on my super-scale for a while because I figured they'd be off with the dehyration/extra fluids with having a cold. So last time before trip:

At 2:00 pm:

  • wt: 132.0
  • BMR: 1336 (cals to maintain wt w/o any exercise)
  • water: 55.9%
  • Vis fat (intraabdominal fat): 5 (on a healthy scale of 1-12)
  • fat:  23%
  • muscle mass:  96.4 lbs

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

biscottibody59 on 12/10/2011:
Great numbers--reflects you hard work--keep up the great job!

Hope everything goes according to plan for your departure--have a good evening/morning!

I've gone so far afield (with my body fat number) and accepted it up until now to some extent. I'd like to see just below 30 and then go from there.

Good afternoon girls!  Winds have died down here and we've got a good dusting of snow.  Winds yesterday hit up to 165 mph in some places.  They hit between 80-90 in our immediate area. Depending on the news source it was either the worst storm in 10 years or 15 years.  I've never seen anything like it and I moved here nearly 12 years ago, although I've seen some pretty good storms!

Here's the best selection of photos many of which are not far from us down the water:  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2071633/UK-weather-Wind-turbine-EXPLODES-hurricane-force-gusts-batter-Northern-Britain.html

And a video from early in the day:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16083530

Everyone who looked at my video yesterday was worried about the person/people in the sailboat.  Nobody was in the boat.  It is moored there all year. Even the big car ferries were all cancelled yesterday.  The islands depend on the ferries to get them supplies and food.

Well, yesterday I felt really lazy.  Did not work out at all.  Ate 3 bite sized chocolates and some hot chocolate.  It took all my willpower not to totally pig out.  But thinking about how I would feel afterward stopped me.  So today I vowed not to be lazy!  I did my workout before I even turned on my computer.  Just did my usual internet on my phone while having breakfast in bed.

Saw a red squirrel out back when doing my workout but I was too slow grabbing the camera and the only pic is fuzzy.  So I took some bird pics and some of the snow falling.

Workout:

  • 45 mins tae bo/jump rope
  • weights
  • abs
  • lower body toning

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  pbj on 1 toast, yogurt, 3 clementines

D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink

S:  hot chocolate, banana

Lots of tea and water

TOTAL:  1257 (trying to keep it low before trip and I got up to more than 1500 yesterday, so making up for it)

Hope you all have a good weekend!

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Wow, that was definitely some crazy wind!! In that weather I think I would have been lazy too!!! Glad to hear you already got your workout in today!!

biscottibody59 on 12/09/2011:
Way to get that workout in before any other distractions take over! Thanks for the storm video--what an experience that must be right in front of your house. Hope you didn't have any damage from it all!

Thanks so much for the links above--who expects to see a trampoline rolling by--crazy!

And the turbines--all I can think of is how many are on wind farms in West Texas and the crazy weather Mother Nature has been coming up with lately that no one expects (Hurricane Katrina, the Japan earthquake/tsunami etc).

Good afternoon, girls!  Very windy weather here today.  Predicted gusts up to 90 mph. Looks much calmer for us right now.  Expecting to lose power and haven't worked out yet.  Doing some travel prep and didn't want to leave the computer while it's still on!  I know, I know.  Internet-aholic!  Might get on the bike later.

Was 130.6 on the scale this morning.  Hmm....fluid.

Think I'm finally over this cold, but now my hubby is sneezing!

A pic from in front of our house this morning.

Here's a video I took:

http://youtu.be/uJroXiEiLZk

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  tuna sandwich, pineapple, clementine

S:  2 bite sized chocolates (which were supposed to be my snack tonight!)

D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink

Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1355

That video is insane!!I hope that guy on the boat fared well..Please tell me he/she/they made it safely to land...It was pretty breezy here but not that bad!! Hoping your hubby doesn't get sick so close to your trip :(

V on 12/08/2011:
Holy Hell :( I hope this doesn't last very long, I would hate for you to have to delay your trip due to the weather...Is it always this windy this time of year there??

Maria7 on 12/08/2011:
Wow...that looked like some fierce wind...wouldn't have wanted to be in that boat. :-)

thinkpositive on 12/09/2011:
That wind does sound brisk- can you even be out in it? Yes I have started packing- I'm bringing home clothes that I just don't wear as we have little storage space here. Just a few more days!

grannyannie - Wednesday Dec 07, 2011
(Maintenance - healthy eating - toning/strength)
Weight: 133.0

Good day girls!  The snow we had the last two days has all melted but last night was very windy and we woke up with no power.  Just came back on a little while ago at 12.20.  Good thing we have a gas hob we could light to boil water for tea and a gas fireplace so at least one room was warm.

I really didn't feel well after eating that junk yesterday.  It wasn't even that good.  So it's not like I splurged on some sweets that I really like.  Just felt yuck without my healthy food.    I'll keep that in mind over my 3 weeks with family.  Scale was back to 133 this morning.

I always do my workouts in an unheated bedroom as I warm up so quickly.  So I did my workout this morning but it took a lot longer to warm up.

Workout:

  • 30 mins tae bo/jump rope (usually do 45 but my body told me to stop at 30)
  • weights
  • lower body toning
  • abs

Menu:

B:  power wasn't on and I wasn't about to stand in the freezing kitchen and make my porridge (hubby made the tea).  So I quickly put pbj on a piece of bread

L:  1 bite sized dark chocolate while I was cooking porridge on the hob (power came back on shortly after), porridge, tea with milk as I needed some comfort and tea with lemon doesn't do that.

S:  fresh pineapple, 2 clementines

D:  veg curry & rice, salad, drink

S:  latte, melba toast

TOTAL:  1345

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

hollybelle on 12/07/2011:
Catching up on your posts - good ones the last several days - I laughed at your foiled fruitcake plans. I love SOME fruitcake, not the commercially produced kind here that comes in a can, but if it's home-made or specialty made, watch out. Anything with nuts is good to me. Loved to read your strategy of practicing saying "no thanks, I'm full". Hang in there.

biscottibody59 on 12/07/2011:
Hope you have a good rest of the day there!

Umpqua on 12/07/2011:
Great job today, especially considering the power outage. And I know what you mean about feeling off after eating junk. But you are back to business today!

patt on 12/07/2011:
Atta girl! Have a good day.

sweetpea1977 on 12/07/2011:
excellent job!

liza36 on 12/07/2011:
Glad the power is back on. Great job as always with the exercise.

I have to continually remind myself that while I think an indulgance will taste so good, it usually is not worth it. Feeling terrible is not worth any amount of food.

Have a great day - stay warm!

V on 12/07/2011:
I admire the fact that although you were without power, you still got your workout in, BRAVO and that is a great way to stay warm :) Have a good one!

Maria7 on 12/07/2011:
Thank you for the advice. Sounds good. Sorry to read that your power went out over there in Scotland and glad it came back on. :-) Good on getting your workout done, too! :-D

thinkpositive on 12/08/2011:
Just read the fruitcake post- sounds like something I would do. :) We have a trash chute & if I have something tempting in the apartment & I get an ounce of willpwer I'll put it down the chute- otherwise it's too difficult- I should be able to manage it- but often, not- I envy those who can.

Good day ladies!  Not a good girl today but I don't feel any (well, maybe only a wee bit) guilt.  I had errands to run in town this morning, and then got my hair cut and styled.

Stopped at the bakery to pick up snacks for when our next door neighbours came over for tea and a chat.  I bought a christmas loaf which is fruitcake with icing, a few cookies and 2 small mince pies.  I've never liked fruitcake but assumed my neighbours did, so thought I was safe from too much temptation. Well, the neighbours took the other snacks and didn't touch the fruitcake.  I decided to taste it and found it was pretty good. Very rich! Actually too rich.

As is traditional here, our guests brought us some goodies.  A box of Green & Blacks bite sized dark and milk chocolate in different flavours (66 cals each), a small box of chocolate covered cookies.

The leftover fruitcake, the last mince pie, and the box of cookies are going to the political meeting my husband goes to on Saturday.  The box of chocolates are staying!  I can work in 66 cals here and there.

So there was no time to workout and I just can't do it at night.  I weighed exactly 131 this morning and I don't think I can blame it on fluid loss this time.

Menu:  (well, confession, actually, LOL)

B:  porridge & tea

L:  pbj on toast, baked crisps and the 1 big chocolate cookie I bought at the bakery

S:  1 empire cookie (thick iced vanilla cookie), 1 big slice of iced fruitcake

D:  leftover broccoli rice, drink

S:  will try to get in some fruit tonight, might as well go all out have a glass of wine

TOTAL:  your guess is as good as mine

Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

liza36 on 12/06/2011:
I often send the leftover goodies home with other people as well. It's nice your husband can get rid of the rest too. One measily 66 cal chocolate can certainly stay!

Kati on 12/06/2011:
lol, good idea taking the sweets to a political meeting. Those tend to be too serious, some happiness hormone will help them ease :D

Umpqua on 12/06/2011:
Wow, awesome job with your weight! I love those little chocolates, I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you portion them out. Have a good one!

moogy on 12/06/2011:
I am looking for the silver lining, that fruit cake probably has at least two serves of fruit in it?????? Looks like the scale is showing a big jump down grannyannie, maybe you should enjoy a few treats and not feel guilty! Those chocolates sound perfect.:)

Maria7 on 12/06/2011:
How much better does it get????? I NEVER heard of fruitcake with icing...good thing we don't have that around here...it would simply be over the top, too much temptation for me! :-)

just42day on 12/06/2011:
Those 66 calories are well worth it. Love, love, love dark chocolate! :)

V on 12/06/2011:

Good morning ladies!  Getting really annoyed with feeling better, feeling worse....   Pretty good today, not quite 100%.  Probably stress.  Always stress involved with a trip even though I'm looking forward to it.

This time I started my workout with the weights and toning exercises, then 20 mins on the bike.  Did fine.

Had some of that white stuff today.

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  pbj on toast, bake crisps, yogurt

S:  clementine, grapes

D:  leftover pumpkin curry & broccoli rice, salad, drink

S:  hot chocolate, melba or dried apricots

Lots of teas and water

TOTAL:  1349

Beautiful photos!

You are like me. I start packing way in advance for vacations! I cant imagine how early I would start packing if I was traveling to another country for an extended period of time. At least you know it will be cold there and will only have to pack things to keep you warm. I live in an area where its freezing one day and hot the next. How to pack for a place like that? lol

Looks like you're doing great with maintaining. Keep up the determination!

If you dont feel well in the next couple of days, see a doc!! You dont want your illness to get worse while traveling abroad!!

sweetpea1977 on 12/05/2011:
A thought just popped into my head....how much would it cost to ship some of your clothes back? Would it be cheaper than flying a second bag of luggage on an overseas plane? This is something to think about, especially if you end up going a little crazy shopping for goal weight clothes. I'd recommend doing some research, just in case! ;-)

sweetpea1977 on 12/05/2011:
oh, ok! I bet you're excited to on an shopping spree here! I know I will be once I get to goal!

moogy on 12/05/2011:
Winter sure starts early up there grannyannie! Does look beautiful though. I remember how excited I felt as a child when I saw the first snow of the season. Or, even better to wake on Christmas morning to find that it had snowed hard and we went out in out nighties and housecoats with wellies and marked our territory, got a good snowman in before breakfast!! LOL

Hey there! I just showed my Hubby your beautiful from your front porch photos and told him about you over there in Scotland. Isn't the internet cool? So easy to meet nice people who live in other countries and communicate. Hope you are soon 100% feeling better again! :-D

We've flirted with some flurries here--temps not below freezing, so of no consequence!

You're really doing a fine job staying on the ball (extra loss--yeah!) with it all. Hope you get some relaxation if that's what it takes to feel better before your trip. Take good care of yourself!

Good day girls!  Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Feeling really low on energy, still have that annoying cough.  Planned to do my weights today but I'll wait and see how I feel later.  I felt I was pushing it yesterday with my workout.   I guess I can at least dust and hoover the living room while hubby is away in town swimming.

Having our neighbours over for tea and a chat on Tuesday.  This usually means biscuits and cakes, but I know they like fruitcake (I hate it!) so I'll get some of that and maybe some light biscuits.

Menu:

B:  porridge & tea

L:  2 eggs, polenta, yogurt

S:  satsuma, clementine

D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink

S:  latte, baked crisps

Lots of teas and water
