Happy Saturday, ladies!  I took your suggestions and put my shrunken white capris into a cold rinse cycle then stretched them as much as I could and hung them up to dry.  Wore them today under my sweats (too cold to wear them alone!). They now fit pretty well. If I gain very much on our trip I could be in trouble, at least with the capris!     

I'm a list maker so besides my usual packing list I've made a list of everything that is going into my checked baggage just in case it disappears, so I'll know what's gone. I don't trust the cheapie airlines (Easyjet).  Anything of value always goes in my carry on.

Keeping the calories low this weekend, then again on Weds when we get home, also on Thursday and on Friday before we leave for hotel airport.  After that.....??  Most of the time I do find myself thinking 'is it worth it?' when I look at something fatty/high calorie.  The answer is almost always 'no'.

Okay. I've been bad.    Aside from all that wine and champagne the other night I also a chocolate frenzy yesterday.  I ate the last two soy chocolate puddings with all the rest of the dark chocolate chips mixed in!!  Also had a piece of hubby's yummy brioche.  

I stupidly washed my new white capris (100% cotton) and put them in the dryer for too long. They still fit in the waist but are tight in the butt.  Still packing them. Scale went up from a low of 129.4 to 131.2.  Not that I'm a slave to the scale.    Keeping the calories low while I'm at home. Visiting friends Monday and Tuesday and coming back home Weds morning. They promised us enchiladas and margaritas for Monday night. Friday we head for airport hotel.  


  • 45 mins tae bo/jump rope
  • 4 sets of 6 routines w/weights
  • 5 sets of lower body toning
  • 5 sets of abs
  • 5 sets of 5 pushups
  • stretch

The gym will be closed for a few days after we come back from our trip so I can't (re)join until March 12th. I am SO ready to join. Getting really bored with my home gym.

What if you re-wet them and stretch them by hand and then let them air dry? I have some cotton work shirts that sometimes my hubby will throw in the dryer by mistake, and re-wetting it allows me a little stretching! Try it! It can't hurt!

I find that wearing tight pants/jeans around the house before an outing loosens them up. Perhaps you can wear them for an hour or so each day while your not cleaning, working out, cooking or some other activity that would get them dirty and not have to wash them (and possibly shrink them again) before your trip.

Well, dinner at our friends was fun.  Food-wise I was pretty good - salad and pate, small piece of garlic bread, steak, homemade chips, veggies, a small piece of cake.  The calories were in the 2 glasses of very nice champagne, then the countless glasses of wine - until 1am!  

Hubby still got up at 7.30 this morning so I'm short of sleep and have zero energy. Supposed to be a full workout day.....no gonna happen.

L:  chicken breast with light mayo on 2 wholegrain bread, yogurt

Greetings all!  

  • 45 mins spinning on my exercise bike
  • 100 jump rope - wanted to see how many I could do at one time as I only work in 25 at a time (10 sets) with my tae bo routine
  • B: porridge/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea with milk (286 cals)
  • L: chicken breast with light mayo on 2 slices wholegrain bread, yogurt (394 cals)
  • S:  banana, clementine, (130 cals)
  • D: invited to friends' house for dinner - multi-course, lots of wine.  Oink.  

I've worked out a toning routine to do every other day while we are away.  It works out to about 15 minutes - wall pushups, lift leg back and side for glutes, squats, 2 standing abs exercises, and leg lowering for abs while still lying in bed.

I'm glad you are concerned enough to know that going from such a packed exercise program to vacation away from your regular routine that your body still needs some stimulation. A couple days out of routine is a break, but a long time off could be a psychological issue for you. The nice thing about a 15 minute routine is that you don't feel like it takes over your whole day. I know you will do fine and enjoy a wonderful time too!! I'm looking forward to our May get away which was the reason I started to really try and drop some weight. But it is great that you are at your desired weight so I don't think that should change much!

The laying down ab work is a killer. There are hardly any crunches in the P90X ab workout, it's all laying down leg scissoring and cycling - tough stuff!

I have the same swimsuit issues! It seems they were built for small chested women and the larger chested women either strain the strings or have to get the dowdy look LOL have a great trip!

Didn't get a chance to read diaries yesterday as going into Glasgow is a long trip - drive, ferry, bus.  More on the swimsuit disaster..... because I have a big bust I had to look for suits with support and big cups.  This severely limited the selection.  I still have a lot of excess skin on my sides under my arms and around my middle.  So a tankini with the right size cups was too tight around my middle.  The tankini shorts have no elastic in the legs, they just hang, and so does my butt....right out of the shorts.  Fine.  It would have worked with the bikini bottoms, but the tankini tops were too tight.  Tried one piece but the swimsuit makers assume that if you have big boobs you must be big all over.  The only option I had where a top and bottom would fit me would be a bikini.  Umm.....no.  I looked good in a bikini when I was 40 - which was 20 years ago!  I'm keeping one or two tankinis in mind that I'm hoping will fit properly before a beach trip in June.  Just need this excess skin to tighten up some!  Or get smaller boobs!

Too many calories yesterday!  My husband's brioche is soooo delicious!  Very small slice of it today.

Aww I am so sorry..I have a friend here that custom makes suits, i didn't even think about this before but she could have created a masterpiece for you(all she would need are measurements), actually she still can although you won't get the suit in time for your trip..There are alot of women in the world that bottoms don't match the top.. Take me for instance, I have boobs of a preteen but I am curvy on the bottom...LOL.. anyhoo i can send you her info along with some of her designs if you'd like :) Happy Valentine's Day

I have seen lots of the people on the tele (the closest I get to a beach - thank you very much) wearing different coloured tops and bottoms. Maybe buy two pairs and types and mix and match. You could always e-bay the bits you don't need to a big bummed small breasted woman, they are out there!!! LOL I am wishing you luck and hoping you don't have to swim in the dark:)

Sorry about the swim suit shopping. I had similar problems last year, but I am not as trim as you. I was at 160, which for my height of 5'8" is heavy, but still fit in 12's and 14's. But I could not find a suit that was flattering. I was shopping with my 20 year old daughter who finally pointed out to me, Mom, just pick a suit that is comfortable. You are going to Mexico and will never see any of those people again! So I did, and I enjoyed myself because I saw so many sites and realized that it is such a small portion of the people that have a perfect bathing suit body! And like my daughter reminded me - Mom, you are happily married to Dad and you are not out to pick up anybody, so what good would it do to look so "wow" in a suit anyway. God, I love my daughter!

Your post just reminds me that I want to be able to appear in shorts in public this summer (as opposed to capris) and feel ok in them. A bathing suit - well maybe again someday for me!

Home from big city shopping trip! Couldn't find a tankini or one piece (no bikini!) that fit me right. Even the tankini shorts had my bum falling down out of it.  Don't have much bum anymore, but what I have droops. Guess I need to do about 50,000 more squats and other glute exercises.    I could only try on the swimsuits that were by cup size as I'm busty even though I don't look it in clothes. Note to self: never go shopping for swimsuits wearing ill-fitting bikini knickers and right after lunch so your belly is bloated. Ack!!  Well, I don't know if I would have gone swimming in Morocco anyway as it won't really be hot, maybe 75 tops.  I have a lot of work to do before I'll be swimsuit ready in June for our beach trip to Lake Michigan.  

Anyway, got 3 v-neck tshirts for working out when I join the gym next month.  Got a pair of white capris that fit really nicely.  Got a lot of knickers.  Some are extra soft, some are no VPL, 1 pair is belly control and butt lift.  

Workout today was walking, walking, walking through shops, down the street going from shop to shop, etc.


B:  porridge/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea & milk, 1 piece of hubby's homemade brioche with light spread

L & S:  cheese panini, 5 or 6 crisps (how generous!), 1 small square of chocolate, tea with milk, small cappuccino & a 3 pack of Jaffa Cakes (low cal biscuit/cookie), 1 smallish Millie's chocolate chip cookie, fruit and nut bar

D:  curry & rice, thick slice of brioche with light spread

S:  glass of red wine

Esimated total calories - about 2000 - 2100 ish

Not exactly a healthy eating day, but tomorrow I'll be healthier!  Wednesday we go to friends for dinner.

Sorry about the swimsuit search not being a success. I will say you look wonderful, Annie. They only make the suits for teenagers, I think these days-not for anyone who wants one that really fits and covers all our rear ends! Or they have the ones they "think" mature women want - those that have those skirts that look so odd because they never hang right. Maybe we can go into business and design some that are just right! Just know this has nothing to do with your body. I have seen your pictures and you look absolutely GREAT.

Shopping for a swimsuit of any kind if faught with difficulties!! Unless you have a model body everyone looks a little lumpy, droopy or lopsided!! It is the state of the older human body I am afraid. Maybe a one piece with an uplift panel for your non exsistant bum????? How about one of those beautiful see though cover ups they have now, they are fabulous and could be slipped on when you come out of the water? I love love love jaffa cakes, the only thing I craved when I was pregnant. Hope you have a lovely Valentine's Day tomorrow Annie:)

That stinks about the swimsuit shopping. Maybe you'll find something in Morocco? To be honest, it's difficult for me to find a really good fitting swimsuit here in the States too. I found a nice designer one (on sale) at the end of the summer a couple of years ago and I also have one from a swimsuit outlet that again carries big name brands at discount prices. What's in the regular stores is usually geared toward teens or women with fuller figures than myself, there's nothing much in between. I agree with Holly, you look fantastic!

Tomorrow I'm planning on going into Glasgow to look for a tankini.  Also can apply for my free bus pass for OAPs (old age pensioner).  Can't use it until my birthday but will take it with me to Morocco and use it when we arrive at the airport.  I love FREE but I certainly don't FEEL old.

It is sort of an 'oh no' and OAP but yay! I get stuff for free moment isn't it? You certainly don't look like an OAP. How times have changed, I remember my grandmother when she was 60, in the sixties, I mean they looked old didn't they with their hats and hat pins, big coats, lumpy shoes!! Mind you if I had been through two world wars and a depression I might have had enough by now as wel!!! LOL

My hubby reminded me last night that I had volunteered to babysit today for friends.  So I checked and the grandparents decided to visit so no babysitting. Yes, I'm relieved. The kids are young and wild! 

So back to my original plan for today. Hubby is off to a day long politics meeting so on my own. Yesterday turned into a totally lazy rest day for both of us although I intended for it to be housework day. Today is full workout and then housework. Might make wholemeal scones later.  


  • 45 mins tae bo/jump rope
  • 5 sets of 6 routines w/weights
  • 4 sets of lower body toning
  • 4 sets of abs
  • 4 sets of 5 pushups (goal is to do men's pushups and a LOT of reps)

I didn't feel especially energetic when I got up this morning, but I found my workout extra easy - I just flew right through the cardio and did high speed jump rope. Maybe this was from having a total day of rest yesterday.

I'm thinking about taking another trip into Glasgow to look for a bathing suit. Our villa in Morocco has its own pool and I'd hate to want to swim and not be able to. I've realized that I have no choice but to buy a tankini (NOT getting a bikini!). If I get a one piece with a big cup size then the rest of it will be too big.  Tankinis are sold in separate pieces. Hmmm....wonder if I can find tankini bottoms that will do a serious lift?!  LOL.

You are brave volunteering for baby sitting, ha! I used to volunteer teaching children how to make origami every Saturday morning when my daughter was little. I don't know how I did it! That bathing suit search trip to Glasgow sounds exciting!

I love tankinis for the same reasons you listed. I hope you find one that works for you! If you're self-conscious about your bum, you can buy a cute little wrap/skirt/dress that is made especially for poolside or beach use. I am so pasty white so I tend to depend on these for sun protection and to keep people from going blind when they see me shining in the sun. :)

Eat very slowly, mindfully, taste every flavour and texture.

Update to yesterday's menu...I bought Alpro Soya dark chocolate 'pudding' and a small bag of dark chocolate chips when I shopped yesterday.  So last night I substituted my evening snacks for a cup of the pudding with 10g of chocolate chips mixed in and a mug of light hot chocolate (a 215 cal choccie fix!).  My husband has decided to start baking bread and rolls (white which we never eat) so his French bread stick with sesame seeds on top was ready to bake after dinner. Had two small pieces of that after the chocolate fix!  It was soooo good!  No guilt though. Had about 1800 cals total. The scale has been going down a little almost every day and I don't really want it to keep going down.
I've noticed changes such as abs routines getting easier, more muscle in my thighs, a bit more muscle in my glutes but still a long way to go (not exactly a health issue but pure vanity)  
Sort of a rest day but doing the housework.  Starting another book.  I've been reading a lot more since I got my Kindle for xmas even though I've got tons of books on my shelves that I intend to read someday.

Yeah, the temps have been wild! I have only worn a jacket once this "winter" and we have only burned 1 fire. I like cool to slightly cold, and we just haven't had that. We have run the AC every day since before Christmas so this drop has been very anticipated. It seems like every cold front would stall or back up before it got to us and we are VERY low on rain this year. It is very disturbing that the weather patterns seem to be unpredictable or even unprecedented! I was on a chocolate craving too - I added a tablespoon of unsweetened chocolate to my steel cut oats this morning and enjoyed that. I will have to try to make some pudding. Reading the diaries gives me all kinds of wonderful ideas! Enjoy your day (and your French bread - YUM!)

Just curious if you know how many calories you need to maintain your current weight? Maybe the reason you are still losing weight is your daily caloric intake is still in "loss mode"?? mmm,fresh baked bread. A true weakness of mine!!

My trainer has done a lot of ab work with me since day one (about 10 months) and I have noticed A LOT of improvement with my core. I used to struggle with balance on the BOSU ball at the beginning, but it barely moves now. Push ups and planks are pretty easy now too. I love it!

So, it sounds like you will have plenty of room for a few indulgences on your vacations. Good for you! :)

  • B:  porridge/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea and milk
  • L:  2 wholegrain toast with pbj, packet of baked crisps, yogurt
  • S:  clementine, banana
  • D:  veggie curry & rice, salad w/walnuts, drink
  • S:  glass of red wine, apple bran muffin
  • Teas & water

TOTAL:  1743

Progress as of today: 35 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

I love your goal up top! And the dark chocolate chips are wonderful. They give me my chocolate fix but I don't find them as irresistible as milk chocolate chips. Have a good one!
