Good morning, ladies!  

Feeling incredibly guilty!  We rarely have junk food in the house (unless we have guests).  However, a friend in the US asked if someone would ship her some British biscuits (cookies) and I volunteered.  So I bought her 8 packets of the 3 types she wanted as well as a big bag of individual packets of Cadbury chocolate buttons for her daughter.  When I took them to the post office they said it would cost £36!  So I took out 5 packets and shipped her 3 which cost nearly £10.  This meant there were 5 packets of biscuits and the chocolate buttons in my house!  A dangerous thing!   

I've been doing well just having an occasional packet of the 75 calorie chocolate buttons as part of my evening treat.  Also keep the 98 calories baked crisps in individual packets for an afternoon or evening treat as part of my daily calorie count.  

Yesterday I had a strong desire for chocolate in the afternoon and ate 2 packets of the buttons.  After dinner I had a strong desire for more of them.  Since my husband was visiting a relative in the city and wouldn't be back until later there was no one to raise an eyebrow and ask me if I really wanted to sabotage my hard fought for weight loss.    So I had 2 more packets of buttons, 2 Tunnocks chocolate wafers, and the last pack of baked crisps!!  I totalled up the damage and was about 750 calories over my daily allowance.  So I feel the need to make up for it by having about 1150 cals instead of close to 1300 for the next few days.  The rest of the Tunnocks and other biscuits are in the rubbish bin.  

On a good note, yesterday I tried on another pair of trousers that have been too small for me for years and they fit!  

Workout:

  • 45 mins tae bo and jump rope
  • exercise bike - at least an hour, maybe more

Menu:

  • B:  porridge, raisins & almonds, skimmed milk, tea with milk - 274
  • L:  1 egg and 2 slices turkey bacon on 2 slices bread; fat free yoghurt - 294
  • S:  clementine, cherries - 103
  • D:  veggie chili, rice, salad, iced tea - 460
  • S:  none, nada, zip

TOTAL:  1131

Progress as of today: 22 lbs lost so far, only 7 lbs to go!

Junk food in the house is definitely a recipe for disaster... I'm the same way:( Moving on and doing well today and forward is definitley the best thing... If you make it a one time slip it will not affect your progress... Maybe you have a friend close by you can give the rest to? I know after I've had a binge like that I need to get the culprit out of the house ASAP!!! Have a great day:)

It's good the rest is in the trash. That's what I would have to do too. At least you kept track, and continued to exercise, and will be moderate for a few days in your calories. Great way to get back on track.

I know what it's like. The other night my husband offered me a ginger cookie to go with a cup of decaf coffee & I it turned out that he had the cookies hidden away & that was the last of them. He knows me well!

We can only get 200g pkts of chocolate buttons. So not a good idea to buy them as I would eat them all in one sitting. Mind you even if they where in small pks I would probably eat them all as well. Can't resist chocolate!! I wonder why buttons are so delicious, maybe the way they just fit between the tongue and the roof of one's mouth!! LOL Well done with throwing out the biscuits, better in the bin than on your thighs!!:)

  • S:  clementine, strawberries & cherries - 90
  • D:  veggie curry, rice, salad, drink - 476

TOTAL:  1262
 
OMG!  I was overcome with a strong desire for chocolate.  So I had two wee packets of Cadbury Buttons, 75 cals each.  

New Total for today:  1396!  

My first cuppa tea in the morning has skimmed milk (the way I like it best), and the rest of the day is black tea with lemon and in the evenings herbal teas like chamomile, fennel & nettle, green tea.

I've cut way down on using Splenda and anything with artificial sweeterners in it.  Recently cut out diet sodas as they make me hugely bloated and apparently artificial sweeteners do the same.  My fat free yoghurt has aspartame as the last ingredient listed, and I'm not cutting that out.  My hot chocolate mix has it so have cut down on that.  My orange/mango diluting drink has aspartame so I'm cutting that out.

Progress as of today: 22 lbs lost so far, only 7 lbs to go!

Do you know why people started to put milk in the tea? :) Because in those times porcelain cups were really thin, and broke on contact with the hot tea. So they poured milk first, and then the tea... ;-)

Had my dinner party last night and ate too much and drank too much wine.  Didn't get to bed until 2am.  Zero energy today.  But I enjoyed it and back to more healthy eating today.  Might get on my exercise bike later.  

Menu:

B:  porridge, strawberries, V8, skimmed milk tea with milk - 285

L:  2 medium eggs fried in spray, 2 slices bread, fat free yoghurt - 311

S:  clementine, strawberries, cherries - 90

D:  Leftovers - chicken breast, veggie curry, rice, salad, drink - 476

S:  Packet of baked crisps - 98

TOTAL:  1260 cals.

WOW you are one healthy lady! What a lovely, lovely menu up there. only thing, i personally hate V8. I don't think i'll ever like it. :-( It is very healthy. good for you. and lunch, delightful! i find that yogurt certainly helps a person feel full when you add it to your meals! nicely done.

Hello ladies!  Hope everyone is planning a good weekend.  

Well, my headache went away after I ate my lunch yesterday.  I think the coffee made it worse.  I never drink black coffee and haven't for years.  I drink an occasional cappuccino or mocha.

This morning my schedule is off again.  Went grocery shopping as we are having guests for dinner tomorrow night.  Yes, I will go overboard on the calories tomrorow night but I'll just make up for it after.  

Now I need to start cleaning house and getting in a workout.

Menu:

  • B:  porridge, raisins & almonds, skimmed milk, tea with milk - 274
  • L:  chicken/low fat cheese/light mayo sandwich, packet of baked crisps, clementine - 364
  • S:  fat free yoghurt - 75

Workout:  Hmmm.....  Short bike ride.  

This morning hub and I went to a friend's house (B & B) so I could take photos for their website. Even though I said I preferred tea I was given strong black coffee.  Had a big mug and a half and I was wired.   My husband and our friend are both very talkative and I couldn't get hub to stop talking so we could leave.  I started to get a 'hungry headache' (low blood sugar) about 1.30pm.  By the time we got home so I could have my lunch I was starving!  So in addition to my sandwich I had the packet of baked crisps I was going to have for my evening snack, also had a packet of Cadbury chocolate buttons, aTunnocks dark chocolate wafer, and milk in my tea which I've only been having in my first tea of the day.    Not going to have the two clementines or yoghurt that were on  my menu for today.  

Menu:  

  • B:  bran flakes, banana, skimmed milk, tea with milk - 287
  • L:  chicken/low fat cheese/light mayo/lettuce sandwich; tea with milk, packet of baked crisps, Tunnocks dark chocolate wafer, Cadbury buttons (oink oink) - 594!
  • D:  veggie curry, basmati rice, salad, drink - 476

TOTAL:  1357 cals

I survived the storm and lack of power yesterday.  A few branches down in our garden but not bad.  We were prepared for it.  Had about 300 extra comfort calories so could have been worse. 

I keep an Excel spreadsheet to track and calculate my calories every day.  

Workout:

  • 45 mins tae bo/jump rope (high intensity workout)
  • weights, floor exercises with ankle weights, abs
  • 30 minutes exercise bike

Menu plan for today which I will not stray from! (oops, spoke too soon.  Forgot I had bought some fat free yoghurt, so will have one). 

  • B:  porridge, strawberries, skimmed milk, tea with milk - 269
  • L:  chicken & low fat cheese, mayo and lettuce sandwich; 1 clementine, fresh pineapple, yoghurt - 384
  • D:  veggie curry and rice, salad, orange mango drink - 476
  • S:  packet of crisps, lite hot choc - 148

TOTAL:  1277

Great job on the workouts...Hey back to the weight training, I have to tell you about a girl Donna in the ChaLEAN Extreme workout is 63 years old...She has very defined muscles and doesn't look a day over 40...Working out does keep you youthful ;) Once again I am so happy and impressed that you get your "pump on" ;) Have a good one my friend!!

Delaying my workout till this afternoon as I need to go grocery shopping this morning.   As for my calories - I like to keep them below 1300.  Most days my only exercise is my actual workout of about 90 minutes and some housework.  So I'm not running around going to a job or doing a lot of walking or chasing little kids around...etc.  

Workout:

Later.  Should be doing an aerobic one and weights.

Menus:

B:  porridge, raisins & almonds, skimmed milk, tea with milk - 274

L:  2 veggie sausages on 2 slices bread with mustard, 2 clementines, strawberries - 374

D:  veggie curry, basmatic rice, salad, orange mango drink - 476

S:  lite hot choc, packet of wheat melba toast  - 125

TOTAL:  1249

Okay, no more posting my menu until I have eaten it.  I usually stick to the plan, but I went shopping today and bought some individual packs of baked crisps (potato chips in American English)  so am exchanging one for melba toast.  98 cals instead of 75.  

Feeling totally lazy this afternoon.  I'm blaming it on the weather.  Getting very windy and showery here.  Supposed to get hit by remnants of a hurricane today.  At least I can enjoy watching the loch get really wild and maybe get some pics or videos. 

Our power went off and on for a  couple of hours.  Had gusts of about 70mph.  Can't read without proper light, no tv, no internet except on my android phone.   Feeling a bit edgy so I indulged in an extra packet of crisps, packet of melba toast, and glass of wine.  I'm guessing the damage is a total of 1550 cals for the day.  Could be worse.  And no workout today.  Tomorrow - serious workout!

Are you in a rural area of Scotland? I'm sure it's beautiful, I've always wanted to visit there. I have to keep my calories on the low side too as I'm short, especially on days when my boys are in at preschool and I'm home sitting at a desk working. Have a good one!

I see the reference to Local Hero, beautiful movie and music. I love a good storm but only if everything is nailed down well. I can understand the need to hunker down and a little comfort eating. Not too much damage either. It would still have been a weight loss day!! So yay for that!! :)

I am so happy to hear that you agree with weight training :) It takes alot of time and effort for women to bulk up...Personally I think there is nothing sexier than women with muscle definition( my personal goal is somewhere in between defined and bulked up..Almost there)

I've noticed lately I'm okay with what I get to eat and the amount of calories.  I started counting calories on Aug 29th.  I'd been using my own judgement before which was working, but very slowly.  For the first week or so on calorie counting I felt miserable and kept whining in the evenings that I was starving!  But I'm realizing now I'm okay.  I save a few calories for a small evening snack and that helps.  And I make sure I have a big salad with my dinner.  Hardly any calories in that rabbit food! 

Workout:

  • 45 mins tae bo and jump rope
  • 60 mins exercise bike

Menus for today:

  • B:  porridge, strawberries, skimmed milk, tea with milk - 269 cals
  • L:  2 veggie sausages on 2 slices of low cal wheat bread, mustard, banana - 361 cals
  • D:  veggie curry, basmati rice, salad, orange mango drink - 476 cals
  • S:  lite hot choc with splash of skimmed milk, Cadbury choc buttons - 125 cals

TOTAL:  1231 cals

It's such a sad day today.  10 years since that horrific day.  I was already living in Scotland then and became dreadfully homesick for months after those events.  Only time I've felt homesick.

Rabbit food is goood!! :) It really does come down to a science when you are trying to figure out the best fuels, the best time to eat them throughout the day...It is ever constant as you know...You are doing such a great job Annie :) 7 more to go my friend, you have this :)

I'm reading about your calories & 1200 calories would feel low for me but you are having great success & I'm not at the moment. Maybe I'll try a day or two a week. Hard for me being away from home on 9/11 but being able to watch the ceremonies have been helpful.
