Good day ladies! Not a good girl today but I don't feel any (well, maybe only a wee bit) guilt. I had errands to run in town this morning, and then got my hair cut and styled.
Stopped at the bakery to pick up snacks for when our next door neighbours came over for tea and a chat. I bought a christmas loaf which is fruitcake with icing, a few cookies and 2 small mince pies. I've never liked fruitcake but assumed my neighbours did, so thought I was safe from too much temptation. Well, the neighbours took the other snacks and didn't touch the fruitcake. I decided to taste it and found it was pretty good. Very rich! Actually too rich.
As is traditional here, our guests brought us some goodies. A box of Green & Blacks bite sized dark and milk chocolate in different flavours (66 cals each), a small box of chocolate covered cookies.
The leftover fruitcake, the last mince pie, and the box of cookies are going to the political meeting my husband goes to on Saturday. The box of chocolates are staying! I can work in 66 cals here and there.
So there was no time to workout and I just can't do it at night. I weighed exactly 131 this morning and I don't think I can blame it on fluid loss this time.
Menu: (well, confession, actually, LOL)
B: porridge & tea
L: pbj on toast, baked crisps and the 1 big chocolate cookie I bought at the bakery
S: 1 empire cookie (thick iced vanilla cookie), 1 big slice of iced fruitcake
D: leftover broccoli rice, drink
S: will try to get in some fruit tonight, might as well go all out have a glass of wine
TOTAL: your guess is as good as mine
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
Good morning ladies! Getting really annoyed with feeling better, feeling worse.... Pretty good today, not quite 100%. Probably stress. Always stress involved with a trip even though I'm looking forward to it.
This time I started my workout with the weights and toning exercises, then 20 mins on the bike. Did fine.
Had some of that white stuff today.
Menu:
B: porridge & tea
L: pbj on toast, bake crisps, yogurt
S: clementine, grapes
D: leftover pumpkin curry & broccoli rice, salad, drink
S: hot chocolate, melba or dried apricots
Lots of teas and water
TOTAL: 1349
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
You are like me. I start packing way in advance for vacations! I cant imagine how early I would start packing if I was traveling to another country for an extended period of time. At least you know it will be cold there and will only have to pack things to keep you warm. I live in an area where its freezing one day and hot the next. How to pack for a place like that? lol
Looks like you're doing great with maintaining. Keep up the determination!
If you dont feel well in the next couple of days, see a doc!! You dont want your illness to get worse while traveling abroad!!
You're really doing a fine job staying on the ball (extra loss--yeah!) with it all. Hope you get some relaxation if that's what it takes to feel better before your trip. Take good care of yourself!
Good day girls! Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Feeling really low on energy, still have that annoying cough. Planned to do my weights today but I'll wait and see how I feel later. I felt I was pushing it yesterday with my workout. I guess I can at least dust and hoover the living room while hubby is away in town swimming.
Having our neighbours over for tea and a chat on Tuesday. This usually means biscuits and cakes, but I know they like fruitcake (I hate it!) so I'll get some of that and maybe some light biscuits.
Menu:
B: porridge & tea
L: 2 eggs, polenta, yogurt
S: satsuma, clementine
D: veggie curry & rice, salad, drink
S: latte, baked crisps
Lots of teas and water
TOTAL: 1344
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
Good morning lovely ladies! I'm not quite 100% yet but very close. Although it's 10 days till we leave for the US I've already got my suitcase down from the loft and will start packing. I'll be buying new jeans, cords, some black dress trousers while I'm there, so I won't be packing a lot since all my jeans are loose on me.
132.6 this morning. Practising saying 'no thanks, I'm full' in preparation for the upcoming trip.
About to do my workout soon:
Menu:
B: porridge and tea
L: 2 eggs, polenta fried in oil, yogurt
S: 2 satsumas (really wanted some choccie, so had a bite size Cadbury - 55 cals)
D: veg curry & rice, salad, drink
S: hot choc, packet of baked crisps
Lots of teas and water
TOTAL: 1329 1384
Good day girls! This scale is wacko! Yesterday morning it said 131. 2 and this morning it said 134.something. I know it's water fluctutations especially with drinking extra fluids and taking decongestants, but still......
Hope you all are doing well. I always appreciate your comments!
Good day girls! Thanks for all your comments on my photos and your support!
Feeling okay, just that lingering cough. Been in the city all day shopping. Very frustrating. I wanted some corduroy trousers - one size was too small, the next bigger size was too big! I did find a different type of trouser similar to what my hubby just bought himself - water repellant with fleece lining for wearing on the plane and for going for walks in the cold in Michigan.
I'm going to wait to buy jeans, corduroys and some other trousers when we go to Michigan. It's a lot cheaper anyway with the exchange rate.
We wandered through a German style street market before leaving the city and I wasn't even tempted to buy any of the cakes, or sweets.
I guess my workout was lots of walking including up a few hills.
I didn't do great on the food but I guess I won't stress about it as the scale said 131.2 this morning.
B: Porridge/raisins/almonds/skimmed milk, tea with milk
S: Stopped for a cuppa tea but somehow ended up getting a bacon roll (buttered roll with meaty bacon). I didn't check the calories on it first and totally underestimated! It was 542 cals!
L: Sweet chilli noodles and chicken breast - 546 cals Pint of beer: 185
D: small bowl of pumpkin soup, toast with pbj, grapes, drink
S: 2 chocolates (yea, like I needed those!) 110 cals
TOTAL: 2156
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
Good day, ladies! Slept a lot better last night but still lots of coughing during the night. So tired of whining! Thanks for all your good wishes!
My philosophy and a quick reply when someone tries to push me to eat something I shouldn't (over the holidays): The 5 or 10 minutes of pleasure I'd get from eating (something fatty, sugary, high cal) isn't nearly as good as the pleasure I get from being this size for 24 hours a day.
Happy St. Andrews Day to all Scots!
Will do some weights this afternoon but won't push myself too much. I don't think ab crunches or glute lifts will be too draining.
(Did 3 sets of everything instead of the usual 4 - no problem. Tomorrow back to cardio!)
Liza wanted more photos of where I live, so here's two from today taken from my front porch. In Scotland this type of day is called 'dreich' (dreary).
Menu:
B: porridge/raisins/crushed almonds/skimmed milk, tea with milk
L: pbj on toast, yogurt, packet of baked crisps
S: fresh pineapple, orange
D: veggie chili, rice, salad, drink
S: packet of rice cakes, hot chocolate
Lots of lemon tea, herbal tea, water
TOTAL: 1442
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
Beautiful photos as usual. I wish I had that view to wake up to every morning! :)
Good morning, girls! Just got out of bed and it's after 11. Was hopeful I'd feel much better today and I probably would if I hadn't coughed all night (drainage, not chest cold)! I have no idea if I'll feel up to some doing weights or floor exercises later. But I'll take it easy if body says no.
For something positive I'll try to remember to put something I'm grateful for in my blog every day.
I'm grateful for a loving husband who spoils me rotten.
Two weeks from today we fly to Michigan and will get some hugs from granddaughters!
Menu plan which may change:
B: porridge & tea
L: pbj toast, yogurt, skimmed milk
S: large orange, pineapple
D: pumpkin soup, homemade bread with lite spread, salad, drink
S: 2 squares of chocolate, clementine
Gallons of tea with lemon, other teas, water, dilute juice - ack I'm drowning in this stuff!
TOTAL: 1362
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
BTW, to your comment about oats--you might want to try some ground flaxseed with your oats--tasty. Also a good source of omega 3 fatty acids. I buy pre-ground for convenience and keep it refrigerated.
Good day girls! Thanks for your tips and good vibes! Feeling a lot better today after lazing around all day yesterday. Still slight sore throat, slighty runny nose and cough, and just general yucky feeling.
A bit too much comfort yesterday with chocolate, whisky and honey. Nearly 1800 cals on a day of zero exercise of any kind. Oh well....
Taking it easy today but plan to try a low intensity workout on my exercise bike (20 mins). Following this I'll have a nice soak in a hot bath. (feeling much better after this!)
Hoping everyone else is well and stays that way!
Menu:
B: porridge & tea
L: tuna sandwich, yogurt, baked crisps
S: 1 orange, 2 clementines
D: veggie curry & rice, salad, drink
S: dried apricots or prunes
Massive quantities of tea with lemon, dilute juice or water
TOTAL: 1534
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!
Ugh!! Thought I had successfully fought the cold or whatever it is and was feeling okay until after dinner. Then the sore throat again, then a cough. Had a lot of trouble sleeping last night between having trouble swallowing and the sound of gale force winds outside. Staying in bed for now with my netbook, tv, a book to read (not all at the same time!), a pot of tea with lemon, dilute juice. Glad I have such a pretty view out of the big windows. Could barely whisper this morning when I woke up and can barely do so now.
No workout today! Hub has gone into town to church and swimming and said he'll buy me a chocolate treat.
Feeling stressed because I fly in 2 weeks 2 days and just can NOT be ill!
I feel confident I'll be able to deal with the higher calories, just in a period of adjustment now. When I come back from the US I'll figure out what my maintenance calories are.
Menu:
B: porridge & tea
L: pbj sandwich, yogurt, 3 or 4 clementines
S: chocolate, whisky, honey (not mixed!) LOL.
D: curry & rice, salad, drink pumpkin soup, toast, salad, drink
S: TBD (probably baked crisps)
Massive quantities of tea with lemon, dilute juice
TOTAL: under 1600 about 1700
Progress as of today: 34 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

I often send the leftover goodies home with other people as well. It's nice your husband can get rid of the rest too. One measily 66 cal chocolate can certainly stay!
Kati on 12/06/2011:
lol, good idea taking the sweets to a political meeting. Those tend to be too serious, some happiness hormone will help them ease :D
Umpqua on 12/06/2011:
Wow, awesome job with your weight! I love those little chocolates, I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you portion them out. Have a good one!
moogy on 12/06/2011:
I am looking for the silver lining, that fruit cake probably has at least two serves of fruit in it?????? Looks like the scale is showing a big jump down grannyannie, maybe you should enjoy a few treats and not feel guilty! Those chocolates sound perfect.:)
Maria7 on 12/06/2011:
How much better does it get????? I NEVER heard of fruitcake with icing...good thing we don't have that around here...it would simply be over the top, too much temptation for me! :-)
just42day on 12/06/2011:
Those 66 calories are well worth it. Love, love, love dark chocolate! :)
V on 12/06/2011:
Well it is not like you partake in goodies everyday..Everyone has their food/drinks that we ADORE..No harm, no foul :) Have a good evening my friend!!
