(Low cal - moderate carbs - cardio and muscle work)
Weight: 160.0

Booked an ear wash with the nurse for next week to get out all that excess wax. Supposed to use ear drops every day until then. Then I can get a hearing test early Nov. Not sure why I was told to wait 6 weeks to get it.

Tried on the dress I’m wearing to the wedding Saturday. Ouch!  Can just barely get it on! I thought I was probably about the same size I was the last time I wore it - about 3 years ago to another wedding. Guess not.  Must have been about 150 lbs then.

Menu

B: porridge/berries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa cranberry bar

L: 6 veg salad, cheddar

D: veggie/Quorn curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

S: blanched almonds

Total:  1046

Gym:

treadmill - (intervals uphill and speed) - 10 mins

elliptical - 10 mins

rowing machine - 10 mins

recumbent bike -  15 mins

Leg press (20kg) - 3 sets of 10

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/25/2019:
Keep trying the dress on for the wedding, on a regular basis, as motivation to stay on track!

grannyannie on 09/25/2019:
Yea, but the wedding is Saturday!! I am not doing any cheating at all before Saturday. Had a blip on Monday night but not too bad.

I'll sit down in it after I put it on Sat. to make sure there won't be any rips! I think it will be okay.

legcramps on 09/25/2019:
Nice cardio today! Hope the dress fits you well on Saturday; enjoy the wedding.

grannyannie on 09/25/2019:
Thanks! Dress should just be snug in the hips - got some serious high waist/upper thigh control underwear, plus control top tights. It would fit perfectly if I was 5 lbs lighter.

It will be nice to be with hubby's relatives without it being a funeral!

Horn_of_plenty on 09/26/2019:
have you always needed ear wax removal? i have a friend that gets a problem with the wax in her ears for a few summers and needed to go have it removed.

(Low cal - moderate carbs - cardio and muscle work)
Weight: 160.0

Was still hungry last night (lots of walking in the city) so had some cheddar and 10 almonds.

I’ll be extra good the next few days.  Wedding to go to Saturday.

Menu

B: porridge/raspberries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa cranberry bar

L: 6 veg salad, chicken breast

D: soup and grilled cheese sandwich, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon (only enough leftover Thai green curry for one person so letting husband have it)

Total:  1192

Home muscle work:  2 sets of 5 or 10 (I'll try 3 sets next week)

Lunges & squats using dumbbells

Upper body weights - only 3kg - (shoulder injury)

Abs

Planks

thigh/bum exercises with ankle weights

Going to try some yoga poses and stretches that a friend posted on FB.

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/24/2019:
Well done! I liked that you fed your hunger with protein!

grannyannie on 09/24/2019:
Yea, protein helps quell it. Much better than carbs where I'd want more and more.

innerpeace on 09/24/2019:
I finally drank some soy milk. It was ok, I might be able to lessen my dairy.

grannyannie on 09/24/2019:
Try the sweetened almond milk. Much more taste to it. I only use the soy in my tea.

BearCountryGG on 09/24/2019:
Soy can be an issue....it has it's drawbacks...i know i can't have it because of low thyroid.....i also prefer almond milk.

legcramps on 09/24/2019:
Nice workout!

grannyannie on 09/24/2019:
It was extra good because I added in some poses and extra stretches.

Rescheduled my Friday appointment to pick up my glasses so spending the day in the city. Also getting the free hearing test while I’m there. Doing some shopping. Behaving.

Menu

B: porridge/blueberries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: flat white or a small cappuccino at Costa Coffee and my quinoa cranberry bar

L: some kind of veggie wrap and Earl Grey tea diet coke

S:  got home about 3:30 and was very hungry. Couldn't wait for dinner so I had a cappucinno and a quinoa cranberry bar

D: Thai green curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

Total:  1336

Was picking up my new glasses and they discovered a scratch on one lens. They are going to redo them and I'm going back in about a week to pick them up.

Couldn't have the hearing test as my ears were too packed with wax. I've always had very waxy ears.  So I have to have the nurse at my doctor's office clean them out and go back for the hearing test early November.

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/23/2019:
Have fun in the city! Good idea about the hearing test, too.

grannyannie on 09/23/2019:
Thanks! It was nice even though I didn't get my glasses or hearing checked!

BearCountryGG on 09/23/2019:
Well that should make the hearing test a lot better!

grannyannie on 09/24/2019:
Much!

Nice array of food choices today.

grannyannie on 09/22/2019:
Yep. I'm lucky my husband does the cooking. He's good and he's creative. So the deal is he cooks, I clean up. Fine with me.

Donkey on 09/22/2019:
Ha ha - my husband and I have the same arrangement with cooking & clean-up! I too consider myself very lucky.

A wedding to look forward to! CAKE!

grannyannie on 09/22/2019:
Good deal! If I cooked it would be boring and plain. I'm not creative.

Yes, a wedding! Cake, beer or G & Ts or wine. Uh oh. Calories! Bride and groom are late 60's and have been living together 18 years!

Got on the scale this morning.  160.0 exactly. 10 weeks to Thailand. Ideally I'll be 140 but I'll be happy with 145.

Long, hilly bike ride later.

Edit: went on 20 mile very hilly bike ride

Menu:

B: porridge/strawberries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa cranberry bar

L: chicken breast sandwich

S: 6 veg salad

S: stopped for a pint of beer on our bike ride, then had a quinoa bar when we got home

D: veggie/Quorn curry, diet tonic w/fresh lime and lemon

Total: 1175 1444 but that's okay, burned a lot on bike

Home muscle work:  2 sets of 5 or 10

Lunges & squats using dumbbells

Abs

thigh/bum exercises with ankle weights

Horn_of_plenty on 09/21/2019:
10 weeks is a good chunk of time to work on things!

grannyannie on 09/21/2019:
Not bad. Wish I had more. Anyway, one year we went to Thailand and I managed to lose 4 lbs in the first 2 weeks.

Donkey on 09/21/2019:
Perhaps having a shorter time frame will work in your favor, though. Keep you more focused?

I'm quite jealous (in a good way) of your bike ride. My husband is jealous of the pint, LOL. Here, locally, we have a long-distance biking club, but they are hard-core, serious bikers. They usually stop for coffee and donuts half-way. I know this because one of my friends posts her pics on Facebook.

grannyannie on 09/21/2019:
Definitely focused. We have e bikes so gives us help up the hills. But still get a very serious workout because we have very steep hills.

BearCountryGG on 09/21/2019:
20 miles...WOW!!!

grannyannie on 09/22/2019:
E bikes, so not nearly as tough as a manual bike, but you still have to pedal and the hills are still tough.

I was supposed to go into the city today to pick up my new glasses, but the ferries weren’t running because of thick fog. Went to the gym instead. I’ll pick up glasses on Monday.

Menu:

B: porridge/raspberries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond cappuccino, quinoa/cranberry bar

L: chicken breast sandwich

S: salad

D: leftover veg curry w/tofu and prawns, diet lime tonic

Total:  1224

Gym:

rowing machine - 5 mins

recumbent bike -  15 mins

Leg press (20kg) - 3 sets of 10

Progress as of today: 5.4 lbs lost so far, only 16.6 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/20/2019:
You made the best of a change in plans!

Your menu sounds delicious!

Well done day!

grannyannie on 09/20/2019:
Thanks! If I continue to behave (except social occasions like a wedding) then I should get fairly close to goal by Nov 30.

innerpeace on 09/20/2019:
My next step is to get ride of dairy - how do you like soy milk? I have a quart in my refrigerator but I am too afraid to actually taste it.

grannyannie on 09/20/2019:
I use unsweetened soy milk in my tea. I like it. If I'm actually going to drink a glass of milk, I drink sweetened almond. In my cappuccinos I use coconut/almond. Husband likes to use oat milk in his porridge. I use almond. I always buy Alpro. Bought a store brand of soy once and didn't like it.

BearCountryGG on 09/20/2019:
How cool...I want to be able to say that I couldn't do something because the ferries wouldn't let me!!!!!!!!!

grannyannie on 09/20/2019:
We live on a peninsula. The passenger ferries here are a big source of anger and frustration. They go off very easily - not good if you're trying to get to work. Our ferries are a 20 minute crossing - love it on a sunny day.

Husband has gone with his brother to the racetrack today, so I’ll do a thorough house cleaning while he’s not underfoot.

Planned to do my muscle workout first, but got ambitious and started cleaning. Doubt I'll get to it this afternoon.

Menu:

B: porridge/blueberries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa cranberry bar

L: 1 bread with mayo, 1 Quorn chicken burger w/cheddar

S: 6 veg salad

D: veg curry w/tofu and prawns

S: blanched almonds

Isn't it nice to clean house when there is no one else at home???? I love that.....D doesn't interfere ( Hmmm)....but I always feel like I am bothering him...LOL....I also love to sit at my desk and pay bills and balance bank books when i'm alone too...I KNOW for a fact that triggers him to BOTHER ME!!!

grannyannie on 09/19/2019:
I can often manage to do it when he's doing gardening or working on his bike, but better when he's not here. Can't have him walking in when I'm washing a floor.

BearCountryGG on 09/19/2019:
Reminds me of the joke about the police being called to a house for a murder.....they went...and asked the lady why she shot her husband...she said she shot him because he walked on her wet floor......then they reported to their precinct and were asked if they had secured the scene, arrested her and had the body retrieved and they said NO...when asked why...they said...BECAUSE HER FLOOR IS STILL WET!!!

grannyannie on 09/19/2019:
LOL. Heard that joke before! Sometimes when he outside working I put a note up on the door to let him the floor is still wet - I put it in Lowlands Scots: Stay oot, wet flare.

Horn_of_plenty on 09/19/2019:
nice job starting cleaning....good luck to hubby and his bro at the racetrack.

Thanks. Hubby lost but brother in law won.

On the scale this morning to assess the damage. Exactly the same as posted. Oh well….at least it’s not higher! So I start from here. 10 weeks and 2 days until we go to Thailand!  My swimsuits and shorts need to fit!

Shopping today. Bought unsalted blanched almonds. Good for you and filling, but not something I’d ever be tempted to binge on. So there is nothing in the house to binge on (still a partial jar of pb but I've mostly left that alone).

I’ve been busy researching and booking accommodation for next summer and it’s all done! Booked the usual week next August with granddaughters and son - near Lake Michigan. Then booked an apartment in Arlington, VA for my sister and hubby and me (and possibly brother) in Sept.

Menu:

B: porridge/blueberries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, last 2 oatcakes w/pb

L: 1 bread with mayo, 2 Quorn chicken burgers

S: salad

D: sweet and sour veggies/apples from our trees - with tofu and prawns

Total: 1223

Gym:

treadmill - (intervals uphill and speed) - 10 mins

elliptical - 10 mins

rowing machine - 10 mins

recumbent bike -  15 mins

Leg press (20kg) - 3 sets of 10

Progress as of today: 5.4 lbs lost so far, only 16.6 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/18/2019:
What a happy post! No damage done. Goals for vacation. Plans for the future!

grannyannie on 09/18/2019:
Just hoping I can get well under 150 before we go! Got a couple of challenges before we go - a wedding, a couple of nights in the city, and of course the travel to get to Thailand where rules go out the window. Guess I'll be behaving myself when we get there.

Donkey on 09/18/2019:
(It must be some relief that the peanuts are gone.)

grannyannie on 09/18/2019:
Yes! No temptations. (except hubby's beer!)

Donkey on 09/18/2019:
Ok last comment I promise: I would be interested in your practices for preventing plantar fasciitis.

grannyannie on 09/18/2019:
No problem. I put it in HOPs, but here it is: I tried tennis ball, and exercises etc, but didn't work. So I bought one of those braces you wear to bed (Amazon) - keeps your foot straight instead of bent. At the time only had PF in one foot. Then NO going barefoot EVER. Always have arch support. I have PF sandals, slippers, trainers with arch support and orthotic inserts for shoes without built in arch support. Nearly 4 years since I had it.

grannyannie on 09/18/2019:
I use Abeo sandals for PF while in Thailand. No problems at all. Velcro straps on heel and across foot.

grannyannie on 09/18/2019:
And PF arch support slippers in the house - I keep a pair even in Thailand.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 09/18/2019:
How many years are you retired now?

grannyannie on 09/18/2019:
12 years. I retired at 55.

For the past week or 10 nights we’ve been seeing several really bright spotlights on the shore across the loch from our house (about 1 mile away).  Finally found out what they are - a BBC drama series is being filmed. Sounds like a good one as well.

Menu:

B: porridge/blueberries/almond milk, tea w/soy milk

S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa/cranberry bar

L: 3 scrambled eggs and smoked salmon

D: 6 veg salad with a Quorn chicken burger and cheddar, diet tonic with lime

S: peanuts (nearly gone!) Should not have bought such a huge bag!

Total:  1196

Home muscle work:  2 sets of 5 or 10

Lunges & squats using dumbbells

Upper body weights - only 3kg - (shoulder injury)

Abs

Planks

thigh/bum exercises with ankle weights

Edit:  Husband finished the rest of the peanuts!!  Yes!

Progress as of today: 5.4 lbs lost so far, only 16.6 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/17/2019:
Do you know which drama series it is? (Or, will be?)

grannyannie on 09/17/2019:
It will be called The Nest. It's being made by BBC so I don't know if it will only be shown on BBC, but as usual everything always makes its way to Netflix.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2019/martin-compston-sophie-rundle-the-nest

I've seen the two lead actors in several things before and both are great!

bearcountrygg on 09/17/2019:
How exciting...a friends daughter once rented out her home for a movie......exciting.

grannyannie on 09/17/2019:
It's a shame our house won't show up in it. But the lights were shining into our bedroom window from a mile away!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 09/17/2019:
how cool is that that they are filming by you ;)

sometimes at work in nyc, we see a filming crew too ;)

great to see you working out and eating well again and good to know the peanuts are finished ;)

grannyannie on 09/18/2019:
Wish I had more powerful binoculars like many of our neighbours! They are about a mile across the water and unless we went by boat it would be a very long drive to get over there. Outlander films here and I've seen many of the filming sites. I've been tempted to go see when I know they are filming somewhere I can get to.

(Low cal - moderate carbs - cardio and muscle work)
Weight: 161.6

Yesterday I got really, really hungry in the middle of the afternoon, so had 1/2 pbj sandwich. Sigh. I did better when I always had porridge for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch. Sticks with me better. I used to always do a sandwich for lunch and then a salad mid afternoon. No carb counting. I did consistently lose weight doing this so I’m going to do this again. Just finished the last of the big tub of yogurt this morning.

Menu:

B: soy yogurt/strawberries, tea w/soy milk

S: black coffee and pb/2 oatcakes after workout at gym

S: at home coconut/almond milk cappuccino

L: 3 scrambled eggs and smoked salmon (I will finish off the packet of salmon tomorrow)

D: Veggie & Quorn curry, diet tonic with lime

S:  Dry roasted peanuts (they will all be gone soon)

Total:  1183

Gym:

treadmill - (intervals uphill and speed) - 10 mins

elliptical - 10 mins

rowing machine - 10 mins

recumbent bike -  15 mins

Leg press (20kg) - 3 sets of 10

Horn_Of_Plenty on 09/16/2019:
sandwich for lunch followed by a salad later is a great idea....eating to fuel your body and then followed by volume to fill your mind lol. that's what i'd do if i were home. since i'm not home, i just eat a big volume for lunch, similar to what you do.

if the oats work, i'd go back to that. i love oats on the weekends.

grannyannie on 09/16/2019:
I've always found porridge and berries to be the most satisfying.

Maria7 on 09/16/2019:
Sounds like you've got it figured out what works best for you. You handle your cravings real well.

grannyannie on 09/17/2019:
Just need to always keep snack food out of the house! Glad hubby never wants me to buy snacks. He will eat some if it is here, but he's happy without.

bearcountrygg on 09/17/2019:
How do you like the quorn products...we have those here too.
