Still a lot of coughing and woke up a lot.
Just going to count calories and not carbs. I know what’s too high in carbs.
B: Soy yogurt and strawberries, tea w/soy milk S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa cranberry bar L: 6 veg salad w/cheddar D: veggie curry, tonic water S: dry roasted peanuts Total cals: 924 I'll catch up today with how everyone here is doing.
Progress as of today: 5.4 lbs lost so far, only 16.6 lbs to go!
Feeling better. Not 100% yet - still cough and runny nose. But we had guests last night that we arranged weeks ago. Husband made 3 Thai dishes as well as veggie fried rice, a brown mixed rice we bought in Thailand, and basmati rice. Also a cucumber/pepper/vinegar salad. Ice cream with fresh berries for dessert. Later we had assorted cheeses and crackers. Lots of wine. Oink.
Today we've finished up the ice cream, the crackers and will have lots of leftovers for dinner. I might have a beer.
Tomorrow I'll be at 1,000 or less calories per day, and no alcohol. And I will stick to this when I'm at home. I won't get on the scale for about 2 weeks - was indulging when I was sick.
I'll decide on gym in the morning - if not I'll do muscle work. I will definitely go on Tuesday. Weds I have a hair appointment and after that an eye exam. Will count the calories at lunch time.
Progress as of today: 5.4 lbs lost so far, only 16.6 lbs to go!
I tend to indulge when I am sick too. Nothing tastes the way it should. I'm serious when I say that mint chocolate chip anything has healing powers... or at least it tastes like it does.
I suppose though that once you are 100%, it's back to getting "back on track." Part of me kind of wishes it didn't have to be that way, you know what I mean?
Still feeling sick - coughing all night. But managed to get out of the house to go grocery shopping today. Now I'm exhausted! Not logging food, not counting. Needless to say, no exercise.
Thanks for the get well wishes.

Felt so low on energy yesterday I broke down and indulged and had some peanuts and beer.
Didn’t get out of bed this morning until about 9:30. Blah.
Menu:
B: porridge & blueberries, tea w/soy milk
S: coconut/almond milk cappuccino, quinoa cranberry bar
L: not hungry
D: veggie curry tonic water
S: dry roasted peanuts
Total cals: ?

I think you did OK with the peanuts and beer - there is some nutrition there (even with the beer!), and the beer would help with sleep, I would think. I hope you feel better soon!
Just wish I had some energy. I wake up with sore throat and stuffy head which clears later, but still feel yuck. Runny nose and sneezing.
Ugh. I knew when I woke with a bit of a sore throat yesterday morning that I might have caught a cold. Yep. Woke up with sore throat and blocked nose today and not feeling energetic at all. Might try to do my muscle workout, but don’t know. Need to go grocery shopping since we’ve been gone.

welcome home! boy did that weekend come and go quickly!
Didn't do that great on our weekend - but could have been worse I guess. We did a LOT of walking and much of it was uphill.
Too much alcohol and some snacking. So I'll just get back to counting and not beat myself up. Next cheat day is Sept 7th when we have guests for dinner.
Just came home so having lunch here. This is a gym day and I don't want to mess up my schedule again, so I'll do my muscle workout at home tomorrow, then back to the gym on Weds as normal.
Menu:
Total: 1182 cals - Carbs: don't know as I don't know the breakfast carbs
Hope everybody had a great weekend!
also, glad to hear you were active. that's so healthy. lately, i'm quite a couch potato. many hours on the couch on the weekend.
i like to keep my schedule for the gym also. just took a minor break this weekend bc i felt it would help give me some energy and change of pace for the weekend, which it did.
More alcohol than I planned yesterday. It was so nice to sit outdoors mid afternoon with a cold beer.
Hard to post on my phone as I didn't bring my laptop.
Breakfast was supposed to be 550 cal eggs benedict but restaurant out of hollandaise. So its vegetarian with egg, quorn sausage, beans, hash browns and toast. 915 cals!
Lunch will be at the gardens in Edinburgh.
Had egg salad sandwich, shared packeyvof doritos and cupcake with hubby.
2 beers si far.
Dinner?

always nice to go to the movie theater...i go prob most 1-2x per year. especially good when the movie was worth seeing on the big screen - i have seen quite a few blows.
nice job on your menu and exercises. i also do BOTH lunges and squats. do you do your lunges in place? or are they walking lunges? of course, mine are in plcae - i step forward to a lunge and then back and repeat for the desired reps. do you step back also, or is it a walking lunge covering some distance at the gym?
I do the muscle work at home, not the gym. I'm not great at doing lunges on alternating feet or walking, so I do a lunge then go down 5 times, and then the other leg. Easier to balance as well. For squats I do 10 at a time. And with both I hold dumbbells.
for my squats i also use a weighted bar so i'm going down with extra weight.
also, no on the ankle weights - at least not yet.
Ankle weights are great! Lots of different exercises you can do with them.

do you have any nighttime cough medicine? i find it helps me sleep thru the night when i'm sick.
continue to feel better soon!
your menu looks fantastic and healthy. i like reading your veggie dishes/curry as i am sure it is so filling especially because of the flavor. i have an indian dish with me for lunch today, actually. indian prepared spinach, similar to cream of spinach.
My cough is caused by post nasal drip and nothing can really stop it draining. My sinuses will have to clear up first.
happy-1 on 09/09/2019:
fresh pineapple is amazing for sore throats and coughing. better than cough syrup
Thanks. My throat isn't actually sore any more. But my cough is from the dripping, especially when laying down. On a normal night when I'm well I will cough at least a couple of times within the first 15 minutes of lying down. Allergies and rhinitis. Blech.
legcramps on 09/09/2019:
Hope your cough gets better! I kind of love happy's comment about pineapple - pineapple is the best :)
I love fresh pineapple. Just had sweet and sour curry which was made with pineapple.
When I've had the flu (it's been years) my favourite medicine is hot water, whisky, lemon juice, and honey. If you have enough of them you no longer care that you are sick! LOL.
BearCountryGG on 09/09/2019:
WEll...as annoying as drainage is...at least it is moving...much better than beeing all stopped up! Can you add an extra pillow?....
I've tried that but find I can't really get good sleep. I always sleep on my side. But I could try.
Maria7 on 09/09/2019:
Hoping you are better soon. Do you think you may have bronchitis? Sometimes that can take a while to clear up.
No, not bronchitis. It's definitely sinsus drainage.
