6am bike ride - 7.5 7 miles.  Biked to dinner - 8 7.5 miles.

Went with hubby to church then to visit the Big Buddha and pick up more gifts for family.  


B:  porridge & raisins, yogurt, banana & passionfruit

L:  stir fry asparagus & shrimp

S:  homemade sugar free sorbet - mango 

D:  pumpkin curry & brown/jasmine rice (small portion), herbal tea


Each year we take one trip to see the Big Buddha and Wat Plai Laem (it's crowded and not near our house so once is enough)




We stopped here for lunch between Mass and the tourist stuff - food was just okay but the view was beautiful!



Dinner tonight:  pumpkin curry and tofu, rice

Actually they make the curries here soupy. A soup would be even soupier. LOL.

I love the Big Buddha. The planes all fly over the Buddha when leaving or coming to the island and you can easily see it out the window.

lately, especially while off from work, i'm skipping the kombucha and apple cider vinegar for more natural food...particularly oatmeal. been loving it. it works well in the AM, just not during work days so much bc those days are much longer and i don't like eating so many calories at home or at work with all that fiber...but it's great for weekends! i've had oatmeal each day i've been off since thursday - with all the fruit like you are doing. it's sooo good! very energizing!

I'm skipping the white steamed rice which is served everywhere else, but this restaurant makes a mix of brown/jasmine and one other I can't remember the name of. Really good. And not a huge serving so I feel this is okay. We're going to get the owner to make up a mixture of this rice to take home with us. We'll have to triple wrap it so we don't have a suitcase full of dried rice!

Always shorts here. All the time. It was too hot midday so did not walk up to the Big Buddha - you have to go barefoot and the tiles burned my feet. It's about 85F.

Should have weighed myself this morning.  Planning on every Tues and Sat.  But got up with hubby for the 6am bike ride.

Saturday is our usual Villa Chocolat Belgian treat day but I told hubby I wanted to skip it.  He likes going and does have a small cake but he's not big on sweets at all.  Wish I wasn't.  

Plans for the week:  going to a beachside restaurant we haven't been to yet this year - great sunsets, good food.  I will have two cocktails (Mai Tais) with dinner.  

Otherwise, no alcohol at all at least for a week.  Next time I have any is when we take a tuk tuk into the beach town for dinner, a real ale at the English pub, and a couple of small beers and dinner at the Aussie bar.  

Bike:  7.5 miles this morning


B:  porridge & raisins, fresh mango and passionfruit

S:  sm cappuccino, only had a few animal crackers that they always serve with coffees

L:  stir fried veggies and asparagus, tofu and cashews, water instead of iced tea

D:  pad thai with tofu, water - husband rarely eats fries but for dinner he had stir fried veg, chicken satay, and french fries -  I did not take any of his fries or chicken!

S:  diet pepsi, herbal tea, sugar free iced tea

also, i thought of you - on facebook i saw a quick little video of how beer is good for you - lowers cholesterol, cuts risk of diabetes, and like 4 more things i do not remember. i think cuts risk of heart attack? not sure though. i was like, "well, well...Annie isn't so unhealthy in her choice to drink beer after all!"

anyways, i prob shouldn't have told you that....you are doing good girlfriend.

really, i wouldn't worry too much about the scale if i were you...you KNOW what to do....you don't even need a scale is the truth of it....just make the better choices and your biknis will prove your choices were worth it...maybe try no scale.

Always to sugar free and at home do Stevia. Can't get it here. Beer is okay it's just all the calories.

Yep I know exactly what to do it's just doing it that's the problem! Ack! It is motivating when the scale goes down.

stevia i love :-D it's so good to use in like everything that sugar could have been used in....good to get a break off the stevia anyway like you are. good to switch things up!

Not feeling very energetic this morning.  

Need to make a new plan.  Beer of course is the biggie and needing to limit it more.  Sure would be easier if I could order light beer when we're out. Anyway, need to eat porridge instead of bread as this bread we buy is homemade and heavily seeded (calories), no rice at all (I've cut back a lot and have also had to stop ordering fried rice).  

Had our weekly massages today.  Bliss.

Treadmill:  15 mins

Elliptical:  10 mins

Bike:  15 mins

Bike ride to gym and back - 1.5 miles


B:  toast, yogurt, mango, pineapple, passionfruit

Scale went down!  Hope it's not because of my hair cut! I had it well below my shoulders and it's thick.  Had it chopped to chin length yesterday. There was a massive pile of hair on the floor afterwards!  LOL. 

My shoulder is still sore but getting better.  So I'm not doing any dumbbell work that targets my shoulders, in fact not doing any upper body work. Hope it's okay by Monday and I'll start again slowly.


Home workout:

abs - 3 routines - 10 reps x 3 sets


floor exercises 10 reps x 4 each

ankle weights - 3 routines for thighs, hips, glutes

Gym workout lower

Lower body 10 reps x 4 sets each

Lunges - 5 kg weights

Side lunges - 5 kg weights

squats - 5 kg weights

calf lifts - 8 kg weights


Elliptical intervals - 10 mins

Exercise bike -  15 mins

treadmill -  15 mins

Bike ride to gym and back:  1.5 miles (forgot to add yesterday that we cycled to restaurant for dinner which includes 2 big hills - 8 miles roundtrip)

Hubby has been wanting to paddle our kayak to a restaurant for dinner at happy hour (2 for 1 beers), so I finally gave in.  It's the resort where my gym is.  My favourite meal there is the Philly cheesesteak.  Happy hour is two for one from 5-7pm.  Well....at least I'll get some exercise paddling the boat. 


B:  toast, yogurt, mango and passionfruit

S:  sm cappuccino, animal crackers (actually they are letters - small cups)

L:  stir fried asparagus, peppers, onions, cashews, tofu, iced tea

D:  Philly cheesesteak and fries, 2 small beers (11 oz each)

Husband almost always gets rice with what he eats, so I just take a small spoonful - enough to sop up the remaining juice when I'm done.

Mostly happy with haircut but think I'll go back and get more layering so it sits better on the sides.

yes - you will need to decide what works best for you...for me it's substitutes, but for you it could mean limiting the beer.

Just looked back to see what I weighed when I arrived - 155.  I went down to 152 but am up at 158 now.  Really really unhappy about it but also hate feeling deprived.  Had to wear my one piece to snorkel yesterday as my 3 bikinis are too tight in the top.  I should have been under 140 when we arrived here.  Blaming at least 10 pounds on politics.

Catching up.  Went to the gym on Monday and yesterday did the early bike ride then off on a snorkeling trip,.  We hired a private boat and it's for 3 hours.  The water is still cloudy because of all the heavy rain.  Last year it was crystal clear.  We'll go again before we leave the end of the month and the water should be much clearer.  It's the sunny season now!  

Woke up with a bad sinus headache this morning.  Don't know why.  So no gym, no bike.  It's almost gone now. 


B:  toast, yogurt

S:  toast

L:  dropping hubby at restaurant while I get my hair cut - then had a small beer with him

S:  yogurt

D:  probably pasta with herbs, cashews and tofu

S:  will try for herbal tea or diet Pepsi, but might have a glass of light beer

ice cold beer when it's hot sounds great. i have a good idea for future - different types of flavor sticks that you can add to water or seltzers....and you can add additional stevia drops for a sweeter taste. this is what i'd do in your situation where you need to cut calories to lose the weight but you do NOT want to feel deprived. or you can go for hot / iced teas herbal ones and add stevia drops to make it taste more satisfying and refreshing i n the heat - and NO CALORIES.

unfortunately you will have to decide what's more worth it...OR...you can make changes that change your calories but you can still eat / drink and be satisfied.

...you have other options you can make, especially next year to pack with you, that will satisfy you..maybe full out swaps like sugar free (but stevia not chemicals) drinks instead of the beers, etc...it will have to be a change :/ ....i don't mean to upset you, this is my opinion only!

Yes I know you are right. Beer is probably responsible for 90% of weight. I will not be satisfied with calorie free drinks instead of beer. So what I need to do is a better job at limiting or going without 5 days a week and having them on weekdays.

Got up at 6am again and went on the 7.5 mile bike ride with hubby.  Riding bike to dinner - about 4 miles roundtrip. 


B:  toast, fresh mango and banana

D:  chicken satay, mango smoothie

Might stop for a sm beer at the tiny bar outside our masseuse shop on the way home from dinner.   It was closed.  So had a light beer at home. 

The sun is here to stay.  Snorkeling this week!!!

Nice job. Wow - waking up early to exercise is one thing (while i have a regular job during the work week) that i do not like to do on weekends hardly ever unless it's an unusually busy weekend. but my reasons are good ones - to catch up on sleep :-D

I am so glad you are doing well now....good choice on the LIGHT beer. they can be good and much lower cals than the regular ones.

yay for snorkeling! fun fun! you have to be decent shape to do that!

Normally I get up at 6:30 to go to the gym (at home I get up at 6:50 for the gym). I enjoy the quiet bike rides early morning in the cool air.

I wish the restaurants would carry light beer!

6am bike ride with hubby this morning.  7.5 miles.  Nice and cool and roads are quiet.

It's Saturday which is Villa Chocolat day.  I shouldn't go but I will make whatever little cake I get my lunch.  I'll have an Americano instead of cappuccino.  Bike ride to and from will be another 6 miles. Walked to dinner and back - nearly 2 miles. 

Looked like the weather may have broken.  Showers at night but sun during day.  Snorkeling soon??!!

S:  cheese and crackers

D:  Pad Thai with tofu, large beer

Our trip is booked to the US to visit family in June.  A week at the lake with granddaughters, niece's hs graduation, visits with other family.

yes agreed - in order to lose weight you do not have to NOT EAT, just make the choices which are lower calorie. like a diet tonic instead of tonic? or like an americano instead of cappuccino like you said - the list is endless. You can do it Annie!

i have also been eating oatmeals for breakfast on weekends - my body these past couple weeks is starting to actually CRAVE natural, higher carb, food. it's amazing. skin is still improving - so happy!

what part of US do you go? i forgot. I'm in NY, right outside Manhattan.

The beer is my biggest enemy. So hard to resist when sitting in an outdoor restaurant and it's hot outside.

I love hearing about your bike rides. Do you ride a lot when you are home? That is something I would like to do, but the drivers around here kind of scare me. Plus I have no idea what I'm doing.

We won't ride here on the busy roads, we stick to the quieter ones although it's very busy from where our house is for about half a mile.

We bought cheap bikes here but at home we have the Rolls Royce of bicycles - a German electric pedal-assisted bike. We ride every chance we get at home when it's at least 60F and not rainy. We live in a wet climate so we don't ride as often as I'd love to. Lots of very quiet roads and lots of hills.

You have had an unusual holiday all the way around with the weather and trying to keep your routine with the gym plus your bike ride have been also put aside because of the weather. It is hard to keep the weight down if you can't do your activities don't be too hard on yourself. Have a great day Annie.

Rain and thunder kept waking me up last night so too tired to go to gym.  However, I did my lower body muscle work at home using ankle weights instead of dumbbells.  No cardio and we can't ride bikes because the rain is back off and on. 

Later in the morning we went to the capital to do some shopping for family and got a couple of things for me. Not done yet but still plenty of time.  

Gym workout lower


Lower body 10 reps x 4 sets each - ankle weights on wrists


Side lunges


calf lifts

Home:  floor exercises 10 reps x 4 each

ankle weights - 3 routines for thighs, hips, glutes


B:  toast, fresh mango and passionfruit

S:  sm cappuccino

L:  stir fried chicken and cashew and veg, mango and sticky rice for dessert (mmmm)

D:  stir fried veggies and tofu, small portice rice, bottle of beer and on the way home bought an ice cream bar!!!!  Bad bad bad!!!

those pants are awesome - if i didn't wear sneakers all the time, i'd wear them to work...actually, i think those pants would go with my sneakers - since my sneakers are quite small and just plain black...those are nice pants even for home around house or going out...love them!

sleep is very important for gym...you are smart to sleep in / base workout on your energy level.

last night i would have liked to walk, but i was too tired. caught up on sleep, but, now a bit tired at work (side effects of sleeping pills that i take around 2-3 times a week at most).

Gym had 3 men which is really crowded for such a small gym.

Gym workout upper

Were the men nice to look at? In shape? Accents? haha..

Lately i do more alternating ab work = better abs lately...feeling slimmer in my abs yay. besides legs, abs are my weakest. abs and lower body.

upper is extremely strong :-)

nice job on pushups...they are one of the BEST exercises. body weight exercises are NOT overrated, but the best in my honest opinion!

Breakfast sounds delicious! I had a mango flavored drink myself!

Lunch sounds tasty...though prob slightly high cal right? but at least it's natural & balanced. I'm beginning to really enjoy brown veggie rice too.

Nice ... bike to the beer :-)

Dinner sounds delicious too!

For lunch i have cashews and tofu also with some cabbage and rice and potato :-) Eating well is not as ovverrated as i thought.

honestly, i've eaten poorly my whole adult life...it's amazing what some simple diet changes do! wow. my skin is clearing up!

Yea, the veg fried rice with bacon and egg is high cal. It's meaty bacon though, not fatty like American bacon. And they don't use too much oil on the fried rice. Eggs are fried in fat very fast so they have those nice crispy edges.

Didn't really notice the men except the one I' ve been chatting to a couple of times - he's about 40ish, English and does have a well toned body. The other two didn't even speak.
