Thursday

Not a workout day.  Some walking and swimming.  We bought a couple of cheap bicycles today, so we'll get some extra exercise. 

Menu:

  • B:  pbj on toast, soy yogurt, soy milk, tea
  • S:  black coffee, small biscuits
  • L  chicken sate w/peanut sauce, iced tea
  • D:  pad thai w/prawns
  • S:  apple

Progress as of today: 25.8 lbs lost so far, only 6.2 lbs to go!

Scale going down!  

Used the 7 inch fan I bought in the gym this morning, and though not perfect, it was much better and didn't feel impending heat stroke.  Managed a longer cardio.

Gym:

  • 3 x 12 upper body with dumbbells - 11 routines
  • 3 x 10 lunges, side lunges, squats, calf lifts
  • 15 mins elliptical intervals
  • 10 mins treadmill

Home:

  • 3 x 10 abs, bridge, planks, pushups, triceps dips
  • 3 x 10 w/ankle weights for glutes and thighs

Menu:

  • B:  toast w/pbj, soy yogurt, canteloupe, black tea
  • L:  glass noodle soup w/pork, 1 beer
  • D:  vegetable fried rice, 1 beer, a few bites of hubbys' pork
  • S:  1 bottle vodka and melon

 

Progress as of today: 25.8 lbs lost so far, only 6.2 lbs to go!

You are smart to be proactive and get that fan so that you can work out more efficiently. Smart thinking....

Anything we can do to make it so we can exercise more efficiently despite the obstacles is smart on our parts. nice.

Non-workout day.  

Menu:

  • B:  toast w/pbj, soy yogurt, grapes, small banana, tea
  • L:  scrambled eggs, toast
  • S:  Americano - black, with small biscuits
  • D:  Fried pork w/veg, shared veg fried rice with hubby, water 
  • S:  watermelon

 

Progress as of today: 24 lbs lost so far, only 8 lbs to go!

Just a different kind of black coffee. I'm not doing the cappuccino or latte or mocha and Americano is zero calories.

the snack of coffee and biscuits - was that before a workout!? that would give me a lot of energy for working out!

Lately, I grab some fruit, a granola-type bar, and some caffeine before my workouts. It's amazing how much stronger I am with the carbs & caffeine....not saying it's the best way, but it's in my newfound opinion - a good way.

I leave for my workout at 6:45 and walk to the gym which is .6 mi away instead of driving, so that's my warm up. I don't have anything before I go. Up at 6:30 and then out the door. At home my workouts start at 8:45 and I have my porridge at 7. The biscuits are served with all coffees in the shop we go to - small cup with small savoury-sweet biscuits. No idea the calories. I'll take a pic next trip.

Monday - scale going down!  My plans were to have 2 treats a week but I think I'll delay that until I'm at least under 140.  

Very quiet at DD.  

Gym day: it is still far too hot as the AC is turned up too high. So today I bought a fan small enough to fit in my backpack and I can plug it in right in front of where the dumbbell rack is. At least the air will be moving. Hate cutting workouts short because I'm too hot. 
3 x 12 of 11 routines for upper body using dumbbells
3 x 10 lunges, side lunges, squats, calf lifts using dumbbells
15 mins intervals on elliptical
Back at the house: (with the AC on and a fan blowing right on me!)
3 x 10 abs, bridge, planks, push ups, triceps dips
3 x 10 ankle weights - glutes, thighs

Menu:
B: toast w/pbj, soy yogurt, tea
S: Americano with the wee biscuits they give you at the coffee shop, finishing with a small glass of hot green tea they give you to 'cleanse the palate'
L: scrambled eggs, toast, grapes, iced green tea
D: green curry w/tofu - I didn't ask for rice and neither did hubby, but the waitress thought I
 forgot to ask, so I took the rice she brought and had about 1/2, with 2 beers since it's a workout day

S:  apple

Sunday:

Sunshine except for short rain shower.  Some walking and swimming.  Another no beer day.  Back to gym tomorrow which means I can have beer with dinner!  

Menu:

Brk:  pbj on toast, soy yogurt, banana, tea

Lunch:  bits of fried pork, kale, green onions in spicy sauce, 1/2 portion rice, iced tea

Dinner:  green curry with shrimp, small portion rice, diet coke

S:  apple

Progress as of today: 23.4 lbs lost so far, only 8.6 lbs to go!

Lots of rain, and no real exercise today.

  • L:  salmon/spinach/cheese quiche, giant salad, green tea
  • D:  yellow curry w/potatoes and chicken, water
  • S:  apple

Yesterday (Friday) went to the gym.  Far too hot in there so I complained about the AC and also asked if they could put in a fan.  

I don't drive to the gym, I walk the 1.2 miles roundtrip

  • 3 x 10 on 11 routines with dumbbells for upper body
  • 3 x 10 on lunges, squats, calf lifts with dumbbells
  • 15 mins HIIT on elliptical

At the house I have a yoga mat, ankle weights but could only buy some here that were 2 lbs each (at home mine are 4.4 lbs each)

  • 3 x 10 abs 3 routines
  • 3 x 10 bridge and planks
  • 3 x 10 glutes/thighs lifts with ankle weights - 3 routines
  • 3 x 10 pushups and triceps dips

Menu for yesterday was:

  • B:  toast w/pbj, soy yogurt, tea w/skimmed milk
  • L:  toast w/pbj, apple (it was pouring rain so didn't eat out)
  • S: black coffee and a few small biscuits that are given with each cup
  • D:  pork with veggies on half portion of rice, 2 beers

I will list today's menu tomorrow as we always eat dinner out and sometimes lunch.

Will catch up with everyone diaries soon.  Getting settled in.  Joined the gym and will start tomorrow.  Bought a digital scale today and will weight myself every morning.  

Breakfast:  2 rye toast w/unsweetened pb that I brought from home.  2 pieces is too much so I'll be eating 1 w/pbj from now on.  Soy yogurt.  Tea w/skimmed milk

Lunch:  plain omelette, diet coke

Dinner:  glass noodle soup w/small bits of pork, iced tea

No alcohol.  Only on gym days.  If I eat/drink right all week and workout, I might have one treat next weekend.  Depends on how the clothes and bikinis fit.  

Progress as of today: 26.2 lbs lost so far, only 5.8 lbs to go!

Good job joining the gym. Will you be touring / walking around? Hopefully if the weather is nice, you can get out & enjoy nature instead of being stuck in the gym (except for weights & body work).

Very healthy eating, I would enjoy your menu...especially that darn diet coke....what pleasure caffeine gives :-) especially when you absolutely need it - like I did today lol...2 cups in morning....and def some other caffeine tonight before gym! lol. cheers to the gym!

enjoy your bikinis...so I guess weather is nice...now that I've read your entire entry :-D

Thanks! We were here for 2 months last winter, but doing 3 months this winter. Going home March 1st. The weather here is mid 80's every day. We are across the road from a beach on the Gulf of Thailand. Have a swimming pool. Rented a car, have a tandem kayak, and are going to buy some bikes.

Finally in our house in Koh Samui, Thailand.  3 flights.  Exhausted.  Won't even mention my in-transit food and drinks.  Just got to our island and house at about 8 am today.  But I'll list my foods/drink for today.

Middle of the night at airport:  Thai noodle and prawn dish, beer, coffee.  Airport lounge between 4:30 - 5:30 am:  various snacks, cookies. tuna sandwich, coffee, iced tea.  On plane for final and shortest flight - nothing.  I was full!

Morning:  sleep

Lunch:  Pad Thai with prawns

Beer

Dinner:  sweet green veggie curry, 2 beers

Home:  vodka and melon mixer

Tomorrow:  buy a scale, buy ankle weights, behave!  No beer.  Sign up for the gym at the resort down the road.  Friday:  hit the gym.

I've got a schedule. Beer allowed 3 nights a week. Treats of my choice twice a week. Gym 3 days. Not letting my clothes get too tight to wear!

Been AWOL.  Busy packing and getting the house ready to lock up.  99% done with the packing now.  Haven't counted calories the last couple of days, but didn't go overboard.  Gym and home workouts Tues, Weds, and today.  

Hope everyone is getting fit and healthy.  

I will be checking in while we are abroad and will try to do it every day.  I've got a log for listing food/drink/workouts/treats.
