Struggling to resist eating and drinking what I shouldn't. This is going to be a long, hard winter. But at least I’m consistent with working out.
Washer started leaking a wee bit Saturday so husband is trying to fix it. Hoping he can get it done while I do my workout as the laundry is piling up. Edit: he did!

Yesterday afternoon about 30 minutes before sunset:
Progress as of today: 7.6 lbs lost so far, only 18.4 lbs to go!
Frost on the grass this morning. Friends in Glasgow and in the east had snow yesterday.
FB memories come up every day and right now they are showing us in Thailand - beach, pool, palm trees, restaurants, etc. Sigh.
First vaccinations this week - healthcare workers and care homes. Then the over 80's and the vulnerable. Pfizer.

I'm wondering how it will be in January when my boss is stuck here, rather than in Florida. He and his wife have gone to Florida in January for over 20 years. We'll see if it's harder on him or us staff.
When I was at my brother's, I noticed that they keep more lights on, more often. I'm always trying to save energy, but I think in the winter months, it's mood lifting to have more light.
Granted, it's not Thailand. It's not the beach. Maybe look at it as an opportunity to see what you've been missing. If we're forced to endure, might as well make the best of it.
I love your later comment about having the vaccine, soon. And your hope for summer travel plans - YES!!!!
I really, really, really need to get to Michigan. And for my son to come over here - finally. His brother had been here 3 times. I can't believe I have a child who is going to be 50! But then I was a child bride!
I really miss berries when we are in Thailand. They have them but they aren't very good and cost a fortune. But that's okay because we get bananas, mangoes, pineapples, and yummy sweet mandarins.
i just read jacky's comment, above, and i am with her on my own knowledge. I figure when there's info, the news will report it and we'll learn what we need to learn.
here it is turning very cold also. it's not been warm these couple weeks of December. but luckily not cold enough for snow and not too much precipitation anyways.
It's heavy housework day. No other workout. 2 beers and other extra calories.
Been picking at the almonds occasionally and now they are gone. There is a big bag of cashews that I’ve shoved to the back of the cupboard. Not opened and they will stay that way. I’ll give them to friends of ours when we can see them, or I can drop them off on their porch.
It’s difficult to comment or reply to posts here since we are in different time zones. I’m sound asleep when some of the later posts are made.

You mentioned almonds and right away, I thought of the TWO bags that my boss bought for the lunch room - cinnamon & sugar coated roasted almonds, NOT to mention the butter toffee coated nut mix bag (HUGE BAG) which looks like it has almonds, pecans, and Brazil nuts? I know it has almonds. I've been grabbing 3-5 of these nut mixtures in the afternoon, when I just need a little help to get through, and I don't have anything in my own stash to eat.
Happy housecleaning!
I sometimes buy cashews coated in honey and sesame seeds in Thailand. OMG! Heaven!
yeah, housework is enough exercise, for sure!
I need to get some variety in my cardio workouts. Doing the spin bike is not enough, no matter how good the workout. But I won’t rejoin the gym yet. I could do step aerobics sometimes, and jump rope. Weather isn’t great for power walking, but I suppose I could bundle up on a dry day and do it.
I asked my 15 year old granddaughter what she and her 10 year old sister would like for xmas as gift cards. She said they both like Barnes and Noble so I ordered them online. The family also likes the Olive Garden so I sent a gift card for that as well. Since the divorce I'd always sent money to my son to divide between him and the girls for xmas and get everybody what they want. But this is a very different xmas.

beautiful! ah! and with mountain views!?
No snow at our house but on the mountaintops that we can see. It was 3c/37f. Hubby said on his bike ride early this morning that away from the sea there was a dusting of snow.
On Jacky's comment on protein, yes most people get far too much protein. Those high protein drinks are really only for serious bodybuilders.

Supermarket just after 7:30. Perfect time. Picked up some items for the local food bank (potatoes, carrots, apples, soup, noodles etc). Donation rack is just the other side of the cashiers. I think I’ll donate every time I go in. They don’t want chocolates as it won’t keep, but other xmas sweeties are fine. Maybe xmas cookies.
My supermarket has had 10% off everything for healthcare workers almost since the beginning of the pandemic. Now they are giving 10% off for teachers as well.
Just heard this morning that the UK has approved the Pfizer vaccine and it is being shipped from where it is produced in Belgium this week. First vaccinations next week. Healthcare and care home staff and care home residents are first, then the over 80’s, then those with health issues, then age 65 - 79 (us). And, yes, we will be getting it - both doses.

It's all over the morning news about the vaccine in the UK. Holding my breath. Yes, my husband and I will get the vaccine, too, whether it be Pfizer or Moderna. Grant us peace.
The Oxford vaccine is AstraZeneca and when that gets approved we'll get that one as well.
The UK is only 1/5 the population of the US, so much easier to get everybody vaccinated.
Wondering how the vaccines will be distributed. Saw big hospital setting up stations inside a large auditorium last nite on the national news. Told the husband I may delay until the mob goes first. Guess we’ll have to wait and see how it works out.
I do my click and collect at 10am on Tuesdays. I would go earlier but you can't get alcohol until 10.
I'm sure we'll get ours the same way we got the flu jabs. The nurse set it up at all 4 of the village halls for the over 65s. Likely something similar.
That’s great that you dropped off at the pantry. If I see any of that at my supermarket, I’d prob also at least purchase a couple cans of food to give also. I’ve given change to the Salvation Army guys if you are familiar with the big red pot they have for donations usually outside the supermarket
Weigh in this morning. Not as bad as I thought.

Hope the grocery pickup is uneventful and successful!
Beautiful pictures! I feel that my daughter will be someone who eventually lives near water, too. She would love to watch all the different boats go by...
Yes, I was very, very bad post election!
seems your last few weeks eating right as kept your weight in a good range! isn't that a good change! keep at it, you are doing wonderfully!
I hoped to be under 160 by yesterday. But I can easily reach goal well before we go anywhere in summer.
Change sheets, clean bedroom, clean under bed.

Yea, before I ever saw the house my (future) husband told me submarines went past the house. I didn't believe him. Sometimes the Royal Navy does practices in front of our house (don't know why it's always right in front of us). Ships, submarine, military planes dropping soldiers out of them, helicopters landing on deck of ship. Watched all day once. I'll post that those photos tomorrow.
Great menu, great workout! :-)
according to the map, you live in "paradise!" ...you know, despite the cold, you have water all around you....and you get to see submarines on the regular!?
I'd say we see the submarines a couple of times a month. I enjoy seeing the sailboats, and paddle steamer and fishing boats more.
Too indulgent again yesterday - nuts, chocolate, beer and raspberry liqueur. Not anxious to get on the scale Tuesday.
Clean main bathroom.

Christmas won't be any different for us. We'll just have a curry as usual. For the past 6 christmases we were in Thailand. Before that was Michigan with family until we switched the annual visit to summer.
We have 1/2 acre and hubby is an incredible gardener so it's gorgeous with dozens of species of flowers.
Heavy housework. No workouts.
I knew it was a mistake to think I could ration nuts and dark chocolate. When they are gone, that’s it. Only the popcorn for snacks.
On the scale Dec 1st to find out what damage I have done.

You did very well with calories yesterday. I think today looks good too.

Gorgeous views! Always wanted a water view but it is not to be. Admire your consistency exercising. I can be a real flake.
The views make being stuck here during a pandemic a lot easier!
I HAVE to be consistent with workouts since I'm not always behaving with food. I can tell a huge different since I restarted after injury - my thigh muscles feel bigger for one thing.
Donkey on 12/07/2020:
That's a good point you make for yourself above: exercise will help with eating. Take care not to fall into the thinking that you can eat whatever because you exercise. But it will help mitigate damage done by indulging.
I hope hubby can fix the washer. What I'm dealing with right now: some kind of leak in the attic (roof or condensation), possible toilet leak in the basement, and flue pipe for hot water heater is leaking in 2 locations.
The roof/attic leak isn't bad, just water stains on the ceiling, but I have a bucket and a large, empty pickle jar catching the drips from the water heater.
It's always something.
Oh no. I'm well aware that exercise is usually only about 5% of weight loss. The exercise does remind me that I have much more to lose as I remember how great it feels to be a size I'm comfortable.
Yikes, hope you get all the leaks fixed soon.
Fortunately, hubby can fix anything. It's not leaking now but he says it needs a new part which he has ordered. So I can do laundry. This washer has lasted about 11 years, so can't complain.
Jacky82020 on 12/07/2020:
Bummer, Donkey. Hope the husband can fix some of that. Mine is pretty good about ordering parts online & making basic repairs. But not always!
I'm really grateful mine can fix anything!

You have such spectacular views...they are very special, you are lucky. I have nice views too, of the city below me and around me (since i'm on the 9th floor with little obstructions in view)...but yours is very special and it's full of beautiful nature.
yes, at least you work out. working out solves a lot of problems, mentally and physically. we'd be in very unfortunate circumstances without the ability to work out...as you previously experienced, thankful you are so much better now!
Bear is soooo right!
Yea, it was hell not being able to work out for 2 months and just sit in a dining room chair!
I don't even have the best views in Scotland - there are bigger mountains and gorgeous sandy beaches elsewhere.
Last place I lived in the US was in TN and I as on the 14th floor of an apartment building. I got a view of the TN river, trees, and the city.
