Workout at home (upper):

  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 8 routines

Progress as of today: 32.4 lbs lost so far, only 4.6 lbs to go!

Umpqua on 09/04/2013:
You're being consistent with your workouts, so that's a positive! I got mine in today and feel so much better. I need to remind myself of that when my brain would have me go astray haha.

grannyannie on 09/04/2013:
Yes, at least I do my workouts except when we are traveling like the two days last week. But I try to make up for it.

V on 09/04/2013:
Annie honestly I don't see where you are oing bad..Sure getting the roll and donut may not have been in your plan however it was the best time to eat it after going to the gym...Anyhoo I hope your daughter hears about the visa soon, is there any way you or hubby can check on the status of her application?

Hope you have a good evening friend <3

grannyannie on 09/05/2013:
Thanks V. No way to phone or email to check on visa. :(

hollybelle on 09/05/2013:
At the mercy of the government - few thing are much worse! I agree with V. I don't think yu ever do really badly.

OArecovery on 09/06/2013:
Well done on your workout! :)

Sun and showers today. I took a chance and went power walking/jogging - 4 miles.  Used the app MapMyRun. I did the 4 miles in 55 minutes. Probably did 1/3 of it jogging.

The Cowal Games (traditional Highland Games) began Thursday and ends tonight. We don't bother going to the games any more (we get people from many countries including lots from US and Canada), but we do enjoy the March Past when all the bagpipers who competed play and march down the main street. This is followed by fireworks. So if it's not pouring rain we'll go tonight. Daughter will enjoy it.

Workout:

  • 4 mile walk/jog

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/soy milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  post jog workout:  apple
  • L:   hummous on whole wheat wrap, yogurt
  • D:  veggie curry & basmati rice, salad

  • Teas & water & coffee w/almond milk

grannyannie on 08/31/2013:
Haha! I don't jog very often so I don't think a race in my future. Have a great weekend, friend.

Afraid to get on the scale. I guess I was feeling more deprived than I thought when I was so good for two weeks straight. I have not been good this week at all. Baked chocolate chip muffins for daughter yesterday and having them in the house makes them a lot harder to ignore!

  • push ups - 3 x 15
  • triceps dips - 3 x 15

Edit:  after I did upper body workout I decided to do lower as well so I wouldn't need to tomorrow.

Workout at home (lower body):

  • side dips w/dumbbell
  • squats with dumbbells
  • lunges w/dumbbells using step
  • side lunges w/dumbbells using step
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks - full
  • abs-3 routines

biscottibody59 on 08/30/2013:
I'd eat a couple of cc muffins right about now:-)

grannyannie on 08/30/2013:
They are yummy. Especially if I nuke them for 15 seconds to make the cc's melt.

It's just a request to extend her volunteering visa. Anyone from Africa is considered a risk to become an illegal immigrant.

Christening and party afterward were really nice!  Nice to see some of husband's relatives we rarely see. The baby is husband's great nephew. Husband is godfather to the baby's mother. The parents had the party afterward at their home outdoors and we had a nice, sunny day. The food was awesome! Chicken made 3 or 4 different ways, roast beef, smoked salmon, some vegetarian dishes, a nice quinoa with tofu, lots of different types of salads, nice breads, lots of cakes, brownies, etc etc. I was designated driver  so had 1/2 glass of champagne for the toast and 1 beer. I was due for a higher calorie day and fulfilled that!

Home late and too tired for the gym today. Will try to get in a workout later. Getting things ready for daughter to return. Wallpapering nearly done.

Taking a break from doing a menu and counting calories today, but will behave.

Tomorrow morning we are going to the island to stay the night and then bring daughter back home tomorrow afternoon.

Progress as of today: 32.4 lbs lost so far, only 4.6 lbs to go!

OhioRaven on 08/26/2013:
Sounds like a nice weekend, Annie. I know you'll start being good now. Good news about the wallpaper.

grannyannie on 08/26/2013:
Cheers!

liza36 on 08/26/2013:

grannyannie on 08/26/2013:

Umpqua on 08/26/2013:
Nom nom, great assortment of foods at the christening and it sounds like you did well. I'm sure you're excited to bring daughter home tomorrow!

grannyannie on 08/26/2013:
Didn't do really bad, but did hit those brownies a few times! Yes, haven't seen daughter for a few weeks now.

MrsD on 08/26/2013:
Sounds like a lovely time!! I love that more folks are starting to offer more choices for those of us who aren't wanting to throw caution to the wind LOL. Have a great day!

grannyannie on 08/26/2013:
Yes, I could easily have had the plain chicken breast and salads. But....

V on 08/26/2013:
So happy to hear that you had a good time at the function :) I am sure your daughter will be excited to have some home cooked meals and lots of pampering from you and your hubby!! Happy travels my friend <3

hollybelle on 08/26/2013:
Ah you have to celebrate sometimes with food! Back on track this week! I hit the chocolate too much on Sunday and had to go without much real food! Oh, boy!

(Healthy food-fitness-getting back to ideal weight)
Weight: 134.6

Goal for today was 134, not great but I guess I'm okay. I find that the holidays/vacations I'm less likely to overindulge on are the ones where I start at my ideal weight. Makes no sense, but that's me.

Didn't do my lower body routine yesterday afternoon, so doing upper and lower today.

Poor hubby is still fighting with that wallpaper. I guess there is a reason some wallpaper is cheaper than others. He had no trouble at all when he wallpapered our bedroom. I got most of that room's carpet shampooed last night, so all that's left is a small section of the room and the shampooer can go back in the loft for another year or so.

I'll be 'super-cleaning' the full bathroom today...tidying cupboards, washing all the tiles, etc. Biggest job left is washing all the windows and they are overdue!

Plans for today:

Workout at home (upper):

  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 8 routines
  • push ups - 3 x 15
  • triceps dips - 3 x 15

Workout at home (lower body):

  • side dips w/dumbbell
  • squats with dumbbells
  • lunges w/dumbbells using step
  • side lunges w/dumbbells using step
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks - full
  • abs-3 routines
  • bridge (for glutes, core, thighs)
  • calf lifts w/dumbbell

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/fresh raspberries & strawberries/soy milk, tea w/milk
  • L:   tuna, onion and extra light mayo on a whole wheat wrap, soy yogurt
  • S:  strawberries
  • D:  chickpea & veggie curry & basmati rice, salad w/pumpkin seeds/walnut pieces/almond slivers
  • S:  cottage cheese, 1 oatcake
  • Teas & water & coffee w/almond milk

TOTAL:  1346

Progress as of today: 32.4 lbs lost so far, only 4.6 lbs to go!

OhioRaven on 08/24/2013:
Mornin'/Afternoon, Annie. Just doing the Windows sounds like a pretty good workout to me. Sorry Hubs drew the short straw on this project.

grannyannie on 08/24/2013:
Hubs is the one that knows how to wallpaper. I can paint. And clean. Our outside windows are very high so I have to use an extension rod. I'll do those maybe next week.

Umpqua on 08/24/2013:
I've never hung wallpaper, my main goal in this house has been to get rid of it! Sounds like your house will be sparkling for all your guests, good going.

grannyannie on 08/25/2013:
I prefer paint but in an old house the walls are not all perfect. Fireplaces were removed, etc. Wallpaper covers flaws.

  • squats with dumbbells
  • lunges w/dumbbells using step
  • side lunges w/dumbbells using step
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks - full

Edit:  forgot to mention....some of you remember my distress over the possibility of giant wind turbines across the loch from our house which would totally spoil the view. Well, they were turned down for planning permission and could have gone to public inquiry but have withdrawn their application!!  Yahooooo!

Progress as of today: 32.2 lbs lost so far, only 4.8 lbs to go!

liza36 on 08/23/2013:
I'm so glad to hear that you will be able to continue to enjoy your view! Have a good weekend.

grannyannie on 08/23/2013:
Thanks! This has been going on a very long time.

OhioRaven on 08/23/2013:
Happy to hear you kicked the giants out of your backyard. Have a great day, Annie.

grannyannie on 08/23/2013:
Thanks, Ohio! BTW, cottage cheese is a great evening snack. Keeps any post dinner hunger at bay. However, I'm due for some chocolate tonight. :D

Umpqua on 08/23/2013:
That's fantastic news on the turbines Annie! Excellent work on your food and exercise!

grannyannie on 08/24/2013:

YES!! Thank goodness you won't have an obstructed view of the loch :) Have a great evening Annie :)

grannyannie on 08/24/2013:
Thanks V. So relieved. They would have been sitting on top of the hills on the other side of the loch, all 5 as tall as Big Ben!

Mornin' Annie. Your chart always seems to be in a very good range. I would like to see mine be that stable this time next year. Have a good day.

grannyannie on 08/22/2013:
Still fighting to get off that holiday weight from our 3 trips this year. But I'm getting there. Keeping it there is the hard part!

hollybelle on 08/22/2013:
Wonderful! Still praying for daughter's visa. Do they usually wait for last minute, or is this first time renewed? I have absolutely no experience with anything like that.

grannyannie on 08/22/2013:
They told her 20 days max and that will be on Monday. As with all visas she had to send in her passport with it. First time we've ever dealt with charity volunteer's visa either. I see no reason she'd be denied.

When she arrived here immigration thought it was pretty funny for a Ugandan to be volunteering in the UK. It's always the other way around.

skinnygrlwithin on 08/22/2013:
I'm crossing my fingers for your daughter's visa... hopefully she has your luck and gets her visa quickly.

grannyannie on 08/22/2013:
Thanks! She is so very happy there, so I hope she gets to do another 6 weeks.

liza36 on 08/22/2013:
