It's gorgeous here - perfect temp and sunshine.   If it would just do this all summer, every summer....

Back to the gym today. I don't feel like I've lost anything - no muscle or stamina loss.  Didn't get to use the spin bike since the spin bike 'hog' beat me to it. Grr...

Updating weight tomorrow.  

Workout at gym:

  • 20 mins treadmill - uphill
  • 10 mins rowing machine
  • 10 mins elliptical
  • 4 sets of 12 on 4 resistance machines (upper body and back) 
  • cables/pulley for triceps - 4 sets of 12                                                                               

Workout at home (upper):

  • 7 min video routine for triceps/arms using .5kg wrist weights
  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 7 routines
  • push ups, triceps dips
  • side dips with dumbbell 
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/date-raisin-apricot mix/soy milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  post gym workout:  2 oatcakes w/pb
  • L: 3 oatcakes w/low fat hummous, fat free plain yogurt & fresh raspberries, grapes
  • D: veggie curry & basmati rice, salad w/pumpkin seeds/walnut pieces/almond slivers
  • S:  skinny latte
  • Teas & water & coffee w/almond milk

TOTAL:  under 1400

Back home! I love visiting my family but 4 weeks gets to be a very long time! Weather here is perfect. I went to sleep at about 8.30 last night and woke up at 10 this morning!

Stepped on the scale this morning but won't record weight until I weigh myself on Saturday morning.

While we were gone I went to 3 exercise classes with my sister, one spin bike class with SIL, and did about 8 or 9 of my strength routines. And we did a LOT of walking. 

I had booked a spin class for this morning but just couldn't do it. Might do some of my strength routines this afternoon, but I'm busy getting everything unpacked. Did grocery shopping this morning and doing laundry now.

I've decided that when we are not travelling, or have guests, or are guests at our meat-eating friends house, I'm eating vegetarian. Not doing vegan again because it's too difficult - can't get soy yogurt here, and I do like to eat a couple of eggs every week. We have switched to soy and almond milk though.

I'll go to the gym tomorrow and Sunday. On Monday we are visiting our Ugandan daughter on the island she is volunteering on. We've booked a B & B for 3 nights. We'll do a lot of walking and I'll do some muscle work.

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/slivered almonds/raisins/soy milk, tea w/milk
  • L: 3 oatcakes w/low fat hummous, fat free plain yogurt & fresh raspberries
  • S:  apple
  • D: veggie curry & basmati rice, salad w/pumpkin seeds/walnut pieces/almond slivers
  • S: skinny latte w/almond milk, 2 clementines
  • Teas & water

TOTAL:  1309

Glad you made it home safely! Sounds like you accomplished quite a bit while you were on holidays. I think your idea to eat vegetarian on days where nothing is happening is a great one!

Happy 4th of July!!

Our visit is going very well and we return home on Tuesday, arriving early Wednesday morning. Got my work cut out for me but I am enjoying myself.

Quick check-in  as the granddaughters are due to visit shortly.  Been good with workouts - doing muscle workout 3 times a week and added in some cardio.  Been to two fitness classes with sister.

Having a great time seeing relatives, friends, being a tourist.

Food and drink.  Pleading the 5th amendment on that one.

Happy Father's Day!  

Been in Michigan since Tuesday  night. Having a great time seeing everybody, doing touristy things and shopping.  Won't mention food or the amount of beer consumed thus far!  

Been doing my muscle workouts at my sister's house.  Also went to her over 50's fitness class on Friday and will go again tomorrow.  Not nearly as intense as my usual workouts but still pretty good. Part of the class entails walking or running around the indoor track.  I ran more than walked.

Just finished a workout while my sister and hubby were at church.  Did my full upper and lower body routines that I do at home with the weights, mat, dumbbells, etc.  Also added in jump rope, jogging in place and jumping jacks.  

No beer today! 

Shopping for clothes later today.

Sounds like you are having fun. I am in the in-between crowd on exercise classes, too. I can hardly keep up with the 20-somethings, but I'm not ready for the over 50 classes, either - even tho (as you know) I am pushing my 60th birthday!

Had a really nice dinner at our friends' house last night. They invited an Aussie couple who were guests at their B & B to join us and we had a big BBQ. We got home about 1:30am!  Several glasses of wine but didn't overdo. Definitely not vegan or vegetarian any more! 

Nearly packed for our trip. Getting the house very clean so it will be nice to come back to. Just taking my lunch break right now then back at it. Then my muscle routines. 

We are spending tomorrow night in the hotel at the airport so it will be more convenient for Tuesday's flight. I'll do a final 'weight check' tomorrow morning.

Workout at home (upper):

  • 7 min video routine for triceps/arms using .5kg wrist weights
  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 7 routines
  • push ups, triceps dips
  • side dips with dumbbell 

Workout at home (lower body):

  • squats, lunges w/dumbbells
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks - full and alternating
  • thigh master  
  • abs-4 routines
  • bridge (for glutes, core, thighs)
  • calf lifts

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/date-raisin-apricot mix/soy milk, tea w/soy milk
  • L:  toast & hummous, plain yogurt & fresh strawberries, banana
  • D:  veggie curry & basmati rice, salad w/pumpkin seeds/walnut pieces/almond slivers
  • S:  apple, satsuma
  • Teas & water & coffee w/soy milk

TOTAL:  about 1500

Did my lower body routine yesterday in addition to the upper body. So I won't do strength exercises today. I'll do both upper and lower tomorrow and another cardio, probably power walk again.

Seriously wanted some snacks last night. So munched on quite a few oatcakes, some popcorn, and a glass of wine. And I'm thinking it's not a great idea to go from feeling deprived to going on a holiday. Sigh.

Workout:
  • power walked 5 miles - really enjoyed it - warm, sunny, light breeze, and on our beautiful coastal road with the water sparkling and blue  
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/date-raisin-apricot mix/soy milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  hummous & oatcakes, plain yogurt & fresh strawberries
  • S: banana, apple
  • D:  dinner at friends' house 
  • Teas & water & coffee w/almond milk

TOTAL:  anybody's guess

Another gorgeous day here!!    We've been invited to our friends' house for dinner tomorrow night. So the vegan/vegetarian experiment will be officially finished. 

Going to do cardio (tae bo/jump rope) tomorrow and Sunday, and also my strength routines. Need to colour my hair and finish packing as well. Want the house clean and no dirty laundry left behind before we leave on Monday. I like to come home to a clean house. Our friend is going to water my weeping fig tree and cut our grass.

Another lovely day here - warm and sunny.  I've tossed tons of stuff into the guest room and will work on packing today.  I'm a fanatical organized packer and use a list. I don't like to have to dig through my stuff in the overhead compartment on a plane so I make sure I have whatever I need in a small bag at my seat. After security I transfer the liquids I need to my 'at-seat bag' - eye drops, lip balm, hand gel.  And, of course, a large bottle of water.

Workout:
  • 30 mins intense spin bike class
Workout at home (lower body):
  • squats, lunges w/dumbbells
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks - full and alternating
  • thigh master  
  • abs-4 routines
  • bridge (for glutes, core, thighs)
  • calf lifts
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/date-raisin-apricot mix/soy milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  post spin class:  2 oatcakes w/pb
  • L:  plain yogurt & fresh strawberries, 2 satsumas
  • D:  veg/mushroom/barley soup w/whole grain toast & benecol spread, salad w/pumpkin seeds/walnut pieces/almond slivers
  • S:  apple, glass of wine

You are a very organized packer... I do not have those skills at all... everything just gets thrown in the suitcase, if anything gets folded I'm doing pretty good haha. Anything to do with putting away my clothes, or transferring my clothes... yea I kinda hate it haha. But I am a to-do list maker, at my old job that I hated I used to spend hours making and re-doing to-do lists hahaha. It's very gratifying to be able to cross things off.
