Today I am grateful for my health!

Changed my weight to this morning's. I was at 130 before our trip to Birmingham and 135 on the Tuesday morning after we came back. And after the massive election night pig-out I'm surprised to see I'm 132.2 this morning. 

Workout at home:

  • 7 min video routine for triceps/arms
  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 7 routines
  • side dips with dumbbell
  • squats
  • lunges w/dumbbells
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks (full and alternating)
  • push ups
  • triceps dips
  • thigh master
  • abs-5 routines
  • bridge (for glutes)

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/chopped almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  5 oatcakes w/liver pate, low fat cheddar, banana
  • S:  clementine
  • D:  veggie curry, salad, drink
  • S:  yogurt, apple
  • Lots of teas & water

TOTAL:  1421

 

 

 

Progress as of today: 34.8 lbs lost so far, only 4.2 lbs to go!

Great job Annie! I so miss doing the 7 minute arm routine :( Since this program has weight training pretty much every class, my arms are toast..Hahaha I am sure you are a master at it by now and your arms have to be super toned! Have a great weekend <3

Today I am grateful for grandkids!   

Hope you all have a healthy and pleasant weekend. 

Workout at gym:

  • About 13 mins on treadmill while waiting for someone to finish with the one and only spin bike in the gym
  • 15 mins treadmill later
  • 30 mins spin bike (felt like 90% of my usual strength and stamina - still a bit of cough!)
  • 3 sets of 12 on 6 resistance machines
  • cables/pulley for triceps - 3 sets of 12
  • back lifts on half ball - 2 sets of 10

Will do my strength routines at home tomorrow since I just did them yesterday - very sore thighs today 

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  post workout:  2 oatcakes w/pb, small carton pineapple juice
  • L:  2 multigrain toast w/liver pate, banana
  • S:  clementine
  • D:  veggie/tofu curry & rice, drink
  • S:  yogurt, 1 oatcake w/slice of low fat cheddar
  • Lots of teas & water

TOTAL:  1598

Today (and every day) I am grateful that I'm retired! 

 
Back on track now. I gained a few pounds. Goal is to be back down to my comfortable weight/size and to feel very fit by the time we go to Uganda in January. 

Workout:
  • 30 mins spin bike class (intense) - missed 4 weeks of it due to 1: a tour of a local historic church, 2: no classes held due to Gaelic festival, 3: sick with bad cold, 4: out of town for birthday party.  
Workout at home: (didn't have the energy yesterday!)
  • 7 min video routine for triceps/arms
  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 7 routines
  • side dips with dumbbell
  • squats
  • lunges w/dumbbells
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks (full and alternating)
  • push ups
  • triceps dips
  • thigh master
  • abs-5 routines
  • bridge (for glutes)
Menu:
  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/strawberries/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • S:  2 oatcakes w/pb (before doing some grocery shopping), small carton oj
  • L:  grilled cheese - low fat cheddar on multigrain bread, clementine
  • D:  veggie curry & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  yogurt, V8
  • Teas & water
TOTAL:  1482

I hope you don't hurt too bad from the spin class! At least your muscles will get a wake up call! That intense spin class I tried with my SIL almost killed me - not while I was doing it, but for the next 5 days!! Have a great day!

Stayed up ALL night last night to watch election returns - until nearly 7am. my time.  Went to sleep until about 10am and got up so I wouldn't totally screw up my sleep. I'll go to bed early. Feel tired but happy and relieved.

Tomorrow I start counting calories to get off this extra weight due to indulgences and lack of exercise due to illness. Today I'll finish up the rest of my election night treats and there will be no temptations in the house.  

Plan to do my strength training today and hope I have the energy.   

Back to spin bike class tomorrow. Will be challenging after so many weeks!

I had the TV, internet and radio off all day long. I even unplugged my phone!!! I woke up this morning wondering who won. I get very nervous around this type of stuff!!!!

Uh oh. With being sick for so long and then 4 days out of town partying, I do NOT want to get on the scale. I can feel I've gained something but I'll wait until next week to weigh myself.  

Had a really nice 4 days with friends and their families and friends. Nice birthday party and other socializing. Definitely indulged! Enjoyed it though!

Planning on staying up all night tonight for election results and have the goodies and beer to celebrate or console myself. Then tomorrow I'm seriously back on track. 

Workout at gym:

30 mins spin bike (not 100% intense but very good)

3 sets of 12 on 6 resistance machines

I'll do my at-home strength training routine tomorrow. 

Menu:

I'm glad you are not sick anymore!! You are the master party girl and you know how to rehab after a fun time, so you shouldn't worry about it! I wonder how long before the election results are finalized. I have a feeling that this is going to be too close to call. I haven't voted yet because I need to read all of the amendments and understand them to make an intelligent decision. Glad you are back and have a great week!

Welcome Back Party Girl!! :) RYC yes it is a good sore :) and ITA, about people not exercising their right to vote..You know the biggest critics(on either side of the coin) that I have had the misfortune of listening to rants and tirades do NOT VOTE?? I mean really..Normally i don't go around talking politics but it happens alot at work unfortunately..Not my fellow coworkers, customers mind you, that I don't even know.. LOL sorry I went off there for a minute, my bad..I am def interested in seeing how goes it locally with St. Pete Beach Police, they are trying to get rid of them and replace them with the Sheriff's Department, all of us workers and business owners alike are in support of the Beach Police, they have served and protected the beach for 35 years well, it would be ashamed for those guys to lose their jobs :(

Off to Birmingham today for 4 days. Big birthday party Saturday night for my friend who will turn 60. There will be wine, beer and goodies, and I'll have fun but not be a total piggy!

Today I am grateful for my NHS (national health service) dentist!  £10 ($16) for a checkup and very thorough (ouch) teeth cleaning!   

Hope all of you affected by Sandy are okay!!

After the dentist (only had to stop her once so I could cough) I went to the gym. Managed a partial workout.  

Not 100% yet but definitely improving.  Hubby's maybe 75%.  Thursday morning we leave for Birmingham (England) for a long weekend. Will miss spin bike class again as we won't be here Thursday.  

Workout:

  • 25 mins spin bike
  • 15 mins treadmill

Intended clean eating today but after my teeth were abused and I struggled at the gym I felt the need for a treat - packet of Maltesers (malted milk balls).  Otherwise, will be fairly clean eating today.  

Have decided on treats for election night (I'll be staying up all night):  either hubby's home brewed beer or some rose wine, picked up a small carton of my fave ice cream (Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra), probably get some Doritos or other salty, crunchy snack.  

Wednesday of next week I will seriously get back on track foodwise and workouts!  I want to be in peak shape when we go to Uganda Jan 8th. I have instructed my husband to be a dictator while we are there and make sure I do my 'travel workout' at least 3 times a week.

Today I am grateful for another day of sunshine.

Hope any of you in the path of Hurricane Sandy stay safe! 

Still occasionally blowing my nose or congested and not much coughing. Grrr....  More than 2 weeks now. Hubby has had it more than a week. We are going out of town Thursday for 4 nights so hope we are more energetic by then, if not totally cold/flu-free. We have a friend's 60th birthday party to go to and are making it a longer trip. We'd like to see her newest grandchild but won't do it if we might be contagious. 

I think I can manage to keep my appointment to get my teeth cleaned tomorrow. I'll stop in the gym afterward and do a cardio workout. 

Planned to go to the gym this morning but woke up very low on energy.  Hubby had a restless night which woke me up a lot. Did a good workout at home though.

Workout at home:

  • 7 min video routine for triceps/arms
  • dumbbells - 3 sets of 12 - 7 routines
  • side dips with dumbbell
  • squats
  • lunges w/dumbbells
  • thighs/glutes with ankle weights
  • planks (full and alternating)

  • 20 mins exercise bike

Tried out my travel cardio workout which I intend to do on our next long trip in January:

  • 50 jumping jacks
  • 1 min of running in place with high legs
  • 50 jump rope

Been doing a bit too much snacking - rice cakes, oatcakes, so need to get strict with calories again until we go out of town Thursday, and again when we come home - although I'm planning on treats for election night (for comfort or celebration).  

Menu:

  • B:  porridge/cinnamon/raisins/crushed almonds/skimmed milk, tea w/milk
  • L:  2 eggs, smoked sausage, toast
  • S:  2 clementines, rice cake
  • D:  veggie chili & rice, salad, drink
  • S:  yogurt
  • Teas & water

TOTAL:  1501

Today I am grateful for that we don't get much snow and it doesn't stay long when it does!  (had flurries yesterday but didn't stick)  

Flurries coming down the loch during sunset, which made the sky look a strange colour:

Less coughing, less nose blowing today.  Slowly but surely.  

Mostly clean eating today - if I can stay away from the caramel rice cakes! Also doing quite a few taste tests of husband's delicious home brewed beer.

Beautiful picture Annie! That cold is stilling hanging on? That's a pretty stubborn bug you got! We don't get any snow. Maybe once every 10 years we get some flurries, but its a rarity. I left for work Friday in a sleeveless top, jeans and sandals at 86 degrees at 6am. After work we left for Baton Rouge and as we stood outside waiting for our tickets it dropped 30 degrees! Of course I didn't have a jacket and it was uncomfortable, but today was in the 50s and 60s and lovely! Hope you wake up tomorrow and that cold is history!

Made it to the gym today. Decent workout but certainly not a full one. Clean eating today.  

Workout at gym:

  • 15 mins treadmill (couldn't do any more so didn't push it)
  • 10 mins elliptical
  • 3 sets of 12 on 6 resistance machines
  • cables/pulley for triceps - 3 sets of 12
I will do a full strength training routine at home tomorrow.
 
I have an appointment to get my teeth cleaned Tuesday so hope there is no coughing and no need to blow my nose.
